- 'Guitar Legends' was a concert held over five nights, from 15th to 19th October 1991 in Seville, Spain, to publicise the Expo '92 event the following year. This concert was a huge inspiration to me when it was first broadcast on television, and was the first time I'd seen and heard many of these artists.
Three of these videos come from my own VHS recordings from British television (the documentary, Rock Night and Blues Night), and the remaining three videos from Japanese TV recordings.
The concert is quite hard to find now, and I thought it should be shared with everybody. I hope you enjoy it :-)

All those smiles! Is there anything better than sharing wonderful music? ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Some of the best 90 minutes of music on UA-cam!
The most badass version of Bolero I have ever heard....
just mindblowing...esp Paco and Mclaughlin...they live in another world!!! RIP Paco
We were lucky enough to see George Benson way back in 1982 before he had pop chart success!
Underrated guitarist
;~) just remembered, the same week we saw Al di Meola!
[Wish I could have seen Paco]
Wow being a guitar player was way cooler even 20 years ago...growing up as a jazz guitar player won't be the same. And rest easy Paco!
Thank you for posting! Proud to say that "I WAS THERE"! Had no idea what I was in for! I knew it was being recorder but wasn't aware of where to find. Certainly beats the video I shot on my 8mm Handycam!
Those were the days...amazing music!!!! Thank you X

This concert was a turning point in my life. Thank you.
Seems like it was an impactful concert for so many people. They need to organise something like this again.
It certainly inspired me.
Luv and Peace.
Yes! Me too. It was important.
What can I say ... I just think that we are so fortunate to have had so many wonderful musicians as these in our lives to enjoy and learn from . I miss seeing them here in Montreal. Thanks for making this available to all of us .
Thanks for this.
The rock night was a huge inspiration to me.
Back in 92 I'd been playing for about 5 years and I was completely obsessive about guitar.
Since 92 I've got into Jazz and fusion but I had no idea there were other recordings of that 92 expo for other styles.
The BBC documentary shaped my approach to guitar. Especially John McLaughlin.
Thank you so much for posting this.
Luv and Peace,
Great comment Ian, I feel the same way about Expo '92. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video.
FergusonVideostar you should both check out players like Allan Holdsworth and Frank Gambale; Allan Holdsworth started the guitar fusion back in 1969, with Frank Gambale "Joining" him in the late 80`s.
beyond category
JazzKeyboardist1 meaning is phrasing is lazy and I love it

Some of those early 90s outfits and hairstyles are really outrageous...
Thank you for this wonderful Share, nice to see and hear all these great musician coming together, this is a real audio visual treat.🙏
Great jazz and flamenco festival! In memory of Paco de Lucia and Larry Coryell. Thanks for sharing this concert with the vintage videotape introduction! I remembered John Mc Laughlin with the genius of world music percussions TRILOK GURTU at La Villette jazz festival in Paris in 91'. One of the greatest concert I ever saw. Enjoy these magnificents musicians and discover others like guitarist N'GUYEN LÊ rarely showed on mainstream media ... « Sans la musique, la vie serait une erreur » Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900)
Thanks so much for posting this hard to find video of this multitude of awesome artists! This should be on a released DVD for anyone to enjoy
What a treat... Thanks for sharing... Especially now when some of them are already jamming with angels and Larry decided to join them recently... Joy mixed with sadness and the sense of loss and... You know what I mean...
Well, what else to say than thank you very much? Thanks a lot? It's the same! No words man, no words... It's great!
i was really happy and blessed to share the stage with such great artists ; it has been one of the best musical moment of my musical career..
Oh, I have a question for you, dear Dominique! Did you ever do a tour with Bireli Lagrene and Dennis Chambers for Front Page album ? And are there live recordings from it ? I really love this album
Dear Dominique, I have seen and heard you with John and Trilok in Mainz in 1992 and it was amazing, you were amazing!!! I will never forget that!!! Thank you for that evening!
@@antonsavin72 I saw Front Page in 1999 or 2000. That concert was awesome and I bought the album afterwards. Still one of my favorite albums.
Yesterday was writing something in Spanish, and forgot to switch languages when commenting on the Blues & Soul night. Again, deep thanks for sharing this concert! Particularly enjoyed this one and the sound is very good indeed. Excellent VHS transfer.
This was truly great, thank you for sharing. I too performed at Expo 92 in Sevilla as part of a delegation of artists in the US Pavilion. We had loads of fun, got to play and listen to great music. Expo 92 will always have a special place in my memory. Francesco Crosara
Cool. I would've loved to have been there in person even just to watch but to perform. Big Props man.
Luv and Peace.
Very nice thank you. The cup of elite doth spilleth over in this gem. Paco (RIP) not a Jazz or fusion exponent but Man he lights a fire in me when he plays. These greats are all so extremely gifted and deserving of their Legendary Status.
Uma pérola!!! Obrigada por compartilhar! A treasure!!! Thanks for sharing!
LOVE all the Players, Great Influential. When Paco came out with his smile and guitar - I CRIED !!!
Wow I can see why. I lived in the red light district in Paris and got lost somewhere near Montmartre near midnight in the summer of 1985. I shall never forget that I got whistled at by an Arabic prostitute who was exactly my age. I was living in a passionless relationship with a female that I loved but I was tempted by the prostitute (who is probably dead now). I ran away in mortal fear that I might be tempted and (randomly) ran into a doorway and into a dark bar. Suddenly there was Paco De Lucia playing in front of about twenty people. I was about a meter from him. The whole band stopped. Paco stopped for a second to acknowledge my teenage plight. Stared in that way he does. Then launched into a burst of dangerous supernatural flamenco. It was a terrifyingly brilliant moment. I ran home as fast as my legs could carry me.
For me, Paco has that magic that blows me away!!
I watched this on VH1 when I was starting the guitar, Satch left me speechless and ugly inspired!!!

the only all-star show to hit this quality & interest IMO since Woodstock, which was then, since Jazz At The Phil - totally unreal
Thanks for sharing, great memories. So many highlights but McLaughlin's solo at 8:00 is particularly fantastic

Un grande Larry Corley, guitarrista de la elektric band reemplazado luego por Al Di Meola
Paco soloing blues on a flamenco guitar while standing is priceless. You can never see this moment again 😂
Impresionante. Dios bendiga esta música :)
Thanks for the post
Thanks much !
Man you make my day by uploading this night, because of this concert I still play guitar now.
I love McLaughlin playing on nylon strings, but with the late, great George Duke too is a bonus!
Let's remember: George was Miles' first guitarist in his groups. You don't just walk in and 'cop' that gig
don't know who is the engineer guy of this concert, but he did a lengendary bad ass job in here
research the technical means in spain in 1991 and you will cut him some slack but not much.😊
Grande Paco. Siempre en nuestro corazón...!!
You're GREAT!!!. Thank you very much for uploaded this video.
I have complete collection of "Guitar Legends EXPO '92 "
I think so!!
that bit @ 24:35 with Stanley clarke and Larry Coryell was just...magic
Ray Gomez who surprise was French sorta looks like the more famous Coryell - he Holdsworth & Santana obviously were huge part of fusion
S.Clarke is my biggest influence on the Bass.....
Thx for sharing this !
+Djibinho He certainly is a big man indeed and with he hands he has, he plays the double bass like a guitar... ;)
Djibinho yep
I have this on disc and yet here I am on UA-cam watching it......go figure! This would have been a great event to experience....
Lol....I so the same thing. Its all good....
Aún tengo el VHS;De las primeras cosas que me volaron el cráneo cuando arranque a estudiar.Que Dream Team
i have never seen anyone go harder on a tambourine than that dude at 8:41
