I had the privilege to personally know him in the concert in the Castell de Belver - Mallorca (Spain) 1985, along with two guitar Spanish monsters like Joan BIbiloni and Tito Alcedo. Great concert, great music and a great and sympathetic person. All my regards to him.
I have been listening to the great Larry...for 2 days(After I had known he had suddenly passed away...what a shame!!.) I rediscovered this great performance...SUPER!! At the moment I am really enjoying one of his most recent work..whose title is THE LIFT...incredible..have a listen if you can... Thanks Larry... never too late to enjoy your amazing playing....rest in peace...
This is those types of things that can never get old, amazed me when I was just a kid and it still does...🔥 🔥 🔥 Brings me back in time. Just me with my older brother locked in the room listening to these guys cassettes day and night. Such a great memory.
OKKK I THINK TO MYSELF, THERE IS NO JAZZ OF JAZZ FUSION, OR FUSION MUSIC GUITARS PLAYERS ,WHO NO HAD HEARD ABOUT THIS LEGEND OF GUITARS TRIO, BECAUSE ,IT'S THE MOST MORE BEST GUITARS PLAYING IN THE HUMAN WOLD 🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝😃🌟
I've never see these three together but had the great fortune to see Al 2nd row in a setting of about 125 people. It was such a magnificent time. I found the show by accident.
So cool to see these three together. Larry was originally in the McLaughlin/Paco/Al trio before Al stepped in. And Bireli plays on Larry’s “Spaces Revisited” instead of McLaughlin (who was on Larry’s original “Spaces”)... so many connections.
Just watched Al, Steve Morse, Steve Vai "Rocking the Free World". No comments allowed. Simply Amazing! This should be awesome too. Saw Al with Paco & John McLaughlin in London, to open the tour, which was recorded in San Francisco later.
Had the pleasure of meeting Chris when i was in high school such a great guy and a incredible guitarist he played in a little restaurant by himself with a little backing track thing he had.al was my favorite guitar player at the time so when I asked him to play Mediterranean Sundance he kinda laughed then goes on to tell me he was al's guitar player i was blown away to say the least
Ahhh, when Ovation guitars were KING. My how times have changed since they were recently sold off to DW and outsourced to Asian production companies. I still have two of them, a 6 and a 12-string. Nice sound.
Although Al Di meola is kinda being showcased here (mostly flamenco take -offs of his earlier work including some return to forever stuff) they all are great musicians to be sure ! R.I.P. Larry. Despite the ovation guitars used I think it sounds great !!! What a production! So beautifully synchronized for the three of them, a lot of work went into this. They are seamlessly groving together...
Ovation mostly owed their fame to being more or less the first of the type. They are terrible to sit with and they really sound unguitaristic. Have nice fretboards and comfortable low access though.
it's the sound of thoses guitars "ovation "with a kind of "poly holow bowl" give that sound.......but thoses people play with modes and cross frontie from Spain to Django jive and modern jazz ! and they do !
Al di meola the greatest! he sits in the middle of this trio. When mclaughlin in on stage,he always sits to john,s side di meola is a fantastic player yet doing the same style for 30 years or so from back to his elegant gypsy days..
Well speed thrills and so do skills! Al is the fastest in this outing but Larry and Bireli showed up this performance as well. Carrington was magnificent with angelic Classical/Flamenco filigrees.
RIP Larry Coryell...
One of the greatest guitarists I ever had the privilege of seeing perform.
Donnie, how sad. I did not know 😪😪😪
Truly a master.
Costa Mesa, the other bar on the beach, what's the name, maybe on Hermosa? And Santa Monica Civic with Alphonse Mozoun
11th House !
I had the privilege to personally know him in the concert in the Castell de Belver - Mallorca (Spain) 1985, along with two guitar Spanish monsters like Joan BIbiloni and Tito Alcedo. Great concert, great music and a great and sympathetic person. All my regards to him.
I had a chance to see him performing and was lucky to talk to him. RIP Larry.
Bireli has got to be on the very short list of greatest unsung musicians in history.
He has my vote for best guitarist alive. Too bad Rolling Stone is unaware.
Bireli is the best and I love that he is such a risk taker. Al relies on the same old licks even though I love him too.
There's nothing unsung about Bireli's musical qualities, he is highly regarded and recognized as being a completely unique guitar wizard.
normal is extra terrestre
Seems pretty sung to me. If only by me. And f*ck Rolling Stone.

I talked with Larry at NAMM in Los Angeles after I heard him play. What a great time to remember.
Love The Lift! Wish more could have a listen Larry was still creating interesting unique music
Wow!!! Bireli way way ahead of his time!!! What a wonderful performance!!!
aver is the king
I was at this show, in front of Al. It was in May 1990 at Nightstage in Cambridge, MA.
+William Doyle *same
Funny I did not see you. I looked all over for you.
Iam born 3 year after this show , living near Birelli but i never seen him !
I was right next to you :)
Bostonia Records Yes! I lent you 20 bucks and am still waiting! Lol
Its insane that Larry was a childhood hero to both these guys. Especially Al.
Super is an understatement here. Fabulous!
Such virtuosity!!! Mind blowing
Al Di ... incredible !
I was listening to Weird al, thenToto, Lee Ritenour, Al d-Meola, and ended up here, there is no where else to go after this, Anywhere else is down.
Could not stop watching !
This is those types of things that can never get old, amazed me when I was just a kid and it still does...🔥 🔥 🔥 Brings me back in time. Just me with my older brother locked in the room listening to these guys cassettes day and night. Such a great memory.
Django would be proud of these guys!
He was the uncle of Birelli

Bireli Lagrane young but already a genius, impeccable technique, clever phrases, and beat up!
😂
already miles ahead of al and larry
Miles ahead? No.
Don't get me wrong I really like Al and Larry as composers, but Bireli is beyond question a better player. Fight me.
his level of improvisation is out of this world, the only other one with this kind of mastery is allan holdsworth.
Sound is incredible
lol the looks on the faces of Al and Bireli when Larry totally goes nuts during Spain.
Rhythm, lyrical melodies: it's all there. Great gig!
What a beautiful piece, performed by three of the greatest guitar players in the industry. Al's solos are hauntingly beautiful.
So cool to see these three together. Larry was originally in the McLaughlin/Paco/Al trio before Al stepped in. And Bireli plays on Larry’s “Spaces Revisited” instead of McLaughlin (who was on Larry’s original “Spaces”)... so many connections.
ho my god! thankyou very muthe you are changing the consciences
He's the best , le maître , du pur jouissif ... merci
Al d is the Man playing with other men with exceptional talent.
Tx for posting, truly a rare video.
I saw them in around 91' in San Juan, Capistrano, CA... met them
These guys must be soulmates. They are so completely tuned into each other!
La classe Bireli sur spain!
merveilleux
Every... single... note: played by a legend and legendary!
Quel talent !!!

Wonderful ;)
What an astounding ensemble!
Senza parole....MAGNIFICi !
Bireli's solo at 44:50 is so full of great ideas.
All of his solos are full of wonderful ideas. It's truly mind boggling.
Check out his Melodie au Crepuscule. Incredible variations, all great ideas, I'm sure you'll enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/6vt8JWRZSmU/v-deo.html
Soo great, one better than the other. Outstanding at all.
3:38 super dope little moment there, when Birelli ends up his line with harmonics
Ovation always got a medium sound ....... And a very specific sound ..... With good harmonics, Sir Philipp ....
was fantastic, i wish i was here for something amazing...
Al doen't get older... what is his secret beside music?
gee, guys, you bring dreams to reality!
love you
I miss my Ovation guitar! Bought it around 1985. It was a Legend Glen Campbell model., non cutaway. Never had to hydrate it either!!!
Just watched Al, Steve Morse, Steve Vai
"Rocking the Free World". No comments allowed. Simply Amazing! This should be
awesome too. Saw Al with Paco & John McLaughlin in London, to open the tour, which was recorded in San Francisco later.
13 min in; DiMeola and these other 2, Wow!
whoever uploaded this video did mankind a huge favor ....
23:19 - 36:38 is by far the best part of this concert. That's Chris Carrington on classical guitar.
Good stuff
really like that one , look like Bach couterpoint
Had the pleasure of meeting Chris when i was in high school such a great guy and a incredible guitarist he played in a little restaurant by himself with a little backing track thing he had.al was my favorite guitar player at the time so when I asked him to play Mediterranean Sundance he kinda laughed then goes on to tell me he was al's guitar player i was blown away to say the least
Ahhh, when Ovation guitars were KING. My how times have changed since they were recently sold off to DW and outsourced to Asian production companies. I still have two of them, a 6 and a 12-string. Nice sound.
Truly astonishing genius! Wow.
amazing!!
Al!!!
I like the dynamics, very natural
Well, just arriving here at the moment...I don't comprehend what they are playing either for what I know of the musicians...
exelente , fusion flamencagitana , una maravilla
Certainly all great players, but outstanding in terms of musicality without any doubt is Mr. Lagrene!
Yeah Di Meola was showcased, but he had to show off his new hair weave.
Al's left hand is amazing
was the show sponsored by ovation guitars..paco added humanity to this type of trio...lots of chops..
Ovation heaven.
Same here.
Ovation mostly owed their fame to being more or less the first of the type. They are terrible to sit with and they really sound unguitaristic. Have nice fretboards and comfortable low access though.
Awesome trio.
Al Di Meola, Larry Coreal, and Birelli Lagrene
it's the sound of thoses guitars "ovation "with a kind of "poly holow bowl" give that sound.......but thoses people play with modes and cross frontie from Spain to Django jive and modern jazz ! and they do !
Awesome👏
R.I.P. Larry et longue Vie à Biréli et Rafale...
Lovely.
Best shred ever !!!
Well, I'm impressed.
very very good
Bireli el mejor lejos!
Unbelievable!
Words do not give justice... LISTEN....
De lo mejor de youtube 10/10
Bireli looks like Andre The Giant in his prime in wwf
Ricky Landi lol
Lmao!!!! A mix between Hugo Sanchez and Andre the Giant but his playing beyond his years and beyond times. He was on some new millennium stuff!!
I've always thought this and been calling him that for years now!
Al di meola the greatest! he sits in the middle of this trio. When mclaughlin in on stage,he always sits to john,s side di meola is a fantastic player yet doing the same style for 30 years or so from back to his elegant gypsy days..
Masters!!!
Variations on Piazzolla at 23:17!
+Patrick Sallings is not a variation , is a song called tango suite
I’ve just switched to floating mode . The only thing is I’ve got to come back down again , at the end of this masterpiece .
Virtuoso !!!
My God!!!!!
WOW ❤
Awesome concert! Bireli 52:17 pfiouuuuu
I shred, you shred, he shreds, they shred and so forth...
I take it you're not on board?
LOL...yeah....in fact, the concerts with Al did with Paco and John, they actually admitted as much.....a vehicle for virtuosity, that's it.
Amazing! Männers !!! :-))
Al Di Meola the best ....
Well speed thrills and so do skills!
Al is the fastest in this outing but Larry and Bireli showed up this performance as well.
Carrington was magnificent with angelic Classical/Flamenco filigrees.
Al has the best right hand in the business besides the gypsy players
Yes he does indeed.
Sure but Bireli is a more diverse improviser.
Replace birelli and di meola with Paco de Lucia and John Mclaughlin and then we're talking.
Termendous interprets ! I am Knock Down !
Man, those instruments sound good together
insane!
Birelli. SUPERB
genios....
7:08 fwd. That's all that needs said. Damn.
