I'm 58 now. I got to know Dave Grusin's Mountain Dance through my 11 years older brother when I was 13, that's about 45 years ago. I am as thrilled by his music today as I was then. Basically, Dave has accompanied me throughout my life. I thank him for that.

Sonny is indeed one of Lee's best drummers and he's played with a few, especially the great Carlos Vega, but Sonny makes Lee's decision to drag along his son Wesley as part of the musical tag-team is more about nepotism than musicianship. You can't get any better than Sonny in terms of chops, in the pocket groove, and strong, consistent backbeat. Go listen to recent concerts, hear son Wesley, and then come back to this performance.
One of the best live concerts I have ever watched! The comradery on stage was amazing to see. 4 world class musicians at the top of their game...just freaking fantastic!

Grusin and Rit are 2 of the heavyweights in the industry. These cats have been great forever. I adopted this musical taste from my mother back in Pittsburgh in the early 70's. She is now 75 and we still listen to this style today

Fred Stuckmann Yeah they do! Sonny, as usual, packs the groove with crystalline clear cymbal work, snappin' snare and boppin' BD bombs all mixed into undeniably emotive phrasing with the band! He tastefully supports everyone else collectively and individually.
I agree of course and therefor am interested in whether anyone has seen Lee perform with his son on drums/percussion? Have chance to see him next week.

I have Met Sonny Emory on Drums fresh from Gramling State University back in 1984 and he was a Beast then and he is a Total Animal Now. He is one of the Most Underrated Drummers out there. Give this Man his Props Please.

Smooth jazz always brings out the best in people. If everyone listens to this type of music, there wouldn't be so much hatred and grief in this world. What makes jazz so unique is that it can't be used for political propaganda. It brings people together and helps us forget about the imperfections of humanity. I have never seen a fight break out with this type of public gathering.

I have never been that big on keyboard players, but Dave Grusin is the goods. I would love to jam with him. He can solo his ass off, but his real genius is all of the great background stuff he adds to every tune he plays on. Simply amazing vocabulary and feel. A true badass on the keys!
