Thank you, very helpful and I like the way you present things.
Thanks for sharing this. I’m hoping to up my video game. Have shot Fuji for ages and when the xt3 dropped I got very excited
Very useful, Commenting to pump up the algorithm.
Thanks for the video! Could you talk about stabilizing the X-T3 in one of your videos one day? Really interested in that since it doesn’t have IBIS, and I’m not sure if a camera cage like that would be enough, or would it?
Good video thanks. Which monitor do you use?
Thanks for this. I understand that side handles would remove a bit of jitter and make it generally more stable but I have no idea how much difference it would actually make. Could you do a video demoing it with an OIS lens and a non-OIS lens showing the effect the handles make on stability?
I'll try to to do that soon. This is mainly a rig for when I use the AF system in the camera. More lenses and test coming.
Very clever. Golden Boy would approve 👍
Incredibly helpful. Thanks for the rundown!
Glad it helped!
I don't own the fuji, but I own a few other mirrorless cameras as well as a cinema camera. I really enjoy having a handle and two cold shoe attachments on my cinema camera. It makes a huge difference. As much as i hate adding attachments to my cameras, I may have to get a cage. I like your configuration with a top handle and side handle. Very cool
Nice Video! Wouldn't the Ninja V come in handy here for proRes 4:2:2 (for quality and faster editing) plus it would ignore the 4GB recording limit? I don't own it so don't quote me lol
sampletear A little, yes. No 4gb limit with latest firmware.
Fantastic video!
Thanks Kristi
Great channel, just subscribed 👌👌 i use the xt3 with the 10-24 for filming. really like the idea of the cage and handle. does it help with stability of the footage? i have the weebil lab, but not always convenient to have it with me.
more mass will almost always make for smoother video.
It will.
I just subscribed. Ironically your subscribers are showing as 4k which is why im interested in this video lol.
DennisCarlson Thanks for the sub. Just hit 4K so it’s more like UHD 4K.
Great video! Thanks for the info. one question, is there any issue reaching the shutter release button with the cage on? Looking forward for pt2.
Great stuff. I watched this in 1.25 speed, was perfect lolol
x2 for Ben Shapiro speed.
pro trick : watch movies at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Ira Manuel Yea, I've been using Flixzone for since december myself =)
@Ira Manuel yup, have been watching on flixzone for since november myself =)
@Ira Manuel Yup, I've been watching on Flixzone for years myself :D
Love to see part 2!
What would you guess the weight of this exact rig (xt3) to be? Just wondering as I'm considering different gimbals for a similar video rig atm. Thanks!
Hello, thanks for the video, do you think the box would fit my X-H1?
Unfortunately, no. The X-H1 is a different body type but I believe SmallRig makes a cage that's similar for that camera.
@@theC47 ok, thanks👏👏👏
love it!!!
Thanks!
@@theC47 Keep up the great work!!!
Great video as always. I can’t seem to find the Fuji battery adapter that you posted on SmallHD Community page. Did they discontinue it? Powering from the Focus would be amazing.

Liiiiike it!!
Please do more of this videos man!!
Did you do the Part 2 yet?
Not yet.
What are your thoughts about using a gimbal vs. this rig? I just bought/used a gimbal for the first time and can see it’s going to take some getting used to. Your setup allows for lots of attached items like boom mic and monitor which I would think would be needed on a gimbal as well, but balancing (which is challenging enough with just a camera) could be a nightmare.
emmgeevideo What gimbal did you get and what camera and lenses are you using? It’s easy to rig a gimbal for accessories as well but it depends on the gimbal/camera combo.
theC47 I bought the Feiyu Tech AK2000. I use the Fujifilm X-T3 with the 16-55mm f2.8 lens.
emmgeevideo Well, depending on weight, there are a lot of options out there from companies like SmallRig to get accessories attached to a gimbal. I would spend some time on Amazon and B&H looking for solutions.
Are there any cages for the xt3 that have QR so I can get the camera in and out easily?
Danyal Fryer Not that I’m aware of. All 1/4 20 solutions but a lot of people will do a QR under the cage to get it on/off/on to a rail system.
ua-cam.com/video/hCNv3NuGj8k/v-deo.html
The dslr/mirrorless Video craze is interesting but it comes with a ridiculous amount of build out & added expense. I think I’m going to opt out, buy an XF405 & live happily ever after... until I can afford an XF705 :^)
I'm with you. I own a JVC Ls300. I love the professional video features. I almost bought an xf400 but I feared the low light performance wouldn't be adequate for all the weddings I shoot. Even still, I have smaller cameras too. Sometimes they just work better than my bigger camera.
When is part 2 coming?
Probably when the next firmware version drops. That will included enhanced AF features, etc.
Is the base ISO for video really 1000?
You can’t go any lower than that?
I discovered that the minimum ISO for HLG is 1000.
@@jhbass It's 640?
_Alex_Fleming_ Unless it has changed w/the new firmware it’s 1000 on mine.
Hey Jem,
first of all - love your Videos. I´ve been watching Cameras and Flask since Episode 1. I can´t get enough of you Guys :-D
I need help because i can´t find anything on Google: Just got my Fuji X-T3 yesterday and i am playing around with the Settings right now. Since the Camera has dual Card Slots - how i am enable the dual Video recording? The "Backup" Function is only working with stills but i haven´t figured out how in Video Mode. Can you help me out?
Greetings from Germany
Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately it's not possible in video mode. Maybe in a future firmware release but I'm not sure.
@@theC47 That's too bad... But yeah, hopefully they will Release that Function in a near Future Update. Thanks for your repply! 👍
So I guess you've moved on to the X-T4 then.
Nope. I use the X-T3 daily but plan for the X-T4 to become the A Cam and X-T3 to become B Cam.
@@theC47 Will we see a X-T3 PT.2 ?
@@TMS5100 On the build out? Probably not as it's still how I'm using it with a rig.
What content would you like to see?
@@theC47 How about X-T3 issues like the rough autoexposure ramping in video? Or using the X-T3 and power delivery usb banks? Or using ffmpeg to transcode H265 to other formats for easier NLE while retaining 10bit?
sorry too long-winded!!!!
Huh?
