  • What do you do when your twins are hot heads? You try and get them to simmer down, of course. Don't worry, Jagg has got you covered.

Hi there! Very illustrative video. Though, I’m still wondering if you’re running the bypass valve only (I guess operating it manually) or does it have a thermostat to operate automatically? What about the offset filter adapter then? Thanks for the cool info.

Hello! I'm just running the manual bypass option. In retrospect, I should have just went with the thermostat, which is optional. I didn't require the offset filter mount as older FXRs have the filter mounted underneath the transmission case. Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much mate. I notice you have a temperature guage on the tappet screen opening. I am having trouble getting my old tappet screen plug out and would like to install a guage. Can you tell me the brand you have and I may be able to obtain one from the US. Think I will go with the 6 line cooler as I have only got forward controls (I am 6'2" tall)
Great work mate and think about some of those Oxford heated grips for next winter - once you have had them you will never go without them again!
    Regards
    Pete

No problem, happy to do it! It's actually a pressure gauge out of the Harley parts catalogue. It isn't accurate, as it reads 10 psi below actual. It had me in a panic when I first installed it, but I had the dealership run pressure tests with a professional gauge. The tappet plug can be a bugger to get off without the right tool. I think they routinely get over torqued. The metal is soft and gets chewed up pretty quick, too. I wouldn't mind having a temp gauge, though, even if it was on top of the oil tank dipstick. The six line cooler will definitely be less obtrusive, and will still be quite effective. It appears that all models come with the oil filter adapter assembly now. It has an internal thermostat that controls oil flow to the cooler, so it would appear that an accessory valve switch is not required. I don't know if it's compatible with our oil filter mounts, though.
Thanks for the heads up about the grips. They look great on your bike and would be very welcome, come October.
I do appreciate you taking the time to watch, and comment, Pete. Ride safe!

Have had oil line from pump go to oil cooler, return under trans and back into oil filter for years with 0 issues. Why Have it go from oil filter out, all the way to oil cooler and back into tank? Mine is an old Harley oil cooler that horizontal above motor mount.

Thanks for sharing. This brings up a few questions. I was thinking of doing this also but did not know if the oil pump had enough oil flow to add cooler and the extra oil lines. After running the cooler, have you noticed a difference?
    Thanks for your posts.

Thanks for watching! If your oil pump is working nominally, it should have no issues flowing the oil, even with the extra oil lines. I don't switch mine on until the engine is at full operating temp, and the automatic thermostats won't flow oil to the cooler until the oil temp is high enough. I have a pressure gauge mounted, and there is negligible difference after oil is flowing to the cooler. I've had the cooler on the bike for a few years now with no issues. Just make sure there are no kinks, or bends that are too tight, on the oil lines when installing. That was the trickiest part of the installation, that I experienced, when routing the oil return line to the filter mount. Thanks for your comment, and I hope this helps.

Thanks for the kind words! I was just looking on the Jagg website and for your fatboy there are several models available. The wideline, like mine, is listed, which would mount in the same location as on my bike. They have a wideline with a fan mounted on the back for airflow when at a standstill, but it would need to be wired in. Jagg also has a slimmer model which mounts below the voltage regulator, keeping it out of the way, as well as a slim model that mounts in the same location as the wideline. I would recommend checking out the Jagg website to see all the options as it describes the necessary accessories needed for each model, and gives you an idea of what the total cost will be in US dollars. Take care and ride safe!

I'd install it between the down tubes. On the side how you have it is too big of an eye sore. Its a good purpose for it BUT not mounted on the side in the front

My initial intention was to install it between the down tubes, but it wasn't going to work. If it was one of the smaller coolers then it would work, but this one was too wide. At some point I will fabricate brackets and mount it horizontally above the voltage regulator. At least it catches a lot of airflow where it's at for now.

Who the hell wants to drive around with that stupid thing hanging off of the left side of your bike that’s ridiculous. There’s so many other oil, coolers that go underneath in the front of the two forks underneath the frame hell of a lot better that stupid thing hanging 3 feet off of your bike.
