Absolute. F’ing. LEGEND. The return we’ve all been waiting for and god damnit Bailey if you didn’t disappoint. You’re an incredible editor and I wish I spoke with as much raw passion and emotion as you. This is a special vid man. You should be so proud ❤️
Watched Spider-Man 2 a million times at this rate and never realized till now that Peter entered the building through a closet to change back in his civilian clothes to deliver the Pizzas. Wow! So many incredible background details I'll always keep finding out regarding this film. Another great one is Jonah and Hoffman are actually present with John Jameson for a split second on screen when he reunites with Mary Jane towards the end of the film.
Spider-Man 2 is, without a doubt, my number one favorite comic book film ever made, and probably my personal favorite FILM ever made… period. This movie left so much of an impact on me and continues to grow more-and-more relatable as I grow older. Pretty much every scene is this movie is filled with such incredible nuance, uniquely pulpy flare, genuine soul, tangible action, and painfully human emotions. This is the type of film I’d aim to make if I ever seriously try to, because even if parts of it haven’t aged as well as others, it’s mostly timeless and relates so well to my own stage of life right now. Every actor involved puts their whole selves into their performances, and even if Tobey isn’t as charismatic or quilt as other Spider-Man actors are, his earnestness as Peter Parker is really what counts and seeing him belittled and battered throughout the entire story makes it SO cathartic when someone finally shows him kindness in return. Any scene in this movie involving Rosemary Harris as Aunt May is brilliant in my eyes, seeing her money troubles at home and at the bank are endearing, and her silent reaction to Peter’s confession about Uncle Ben is so nuanced, heartbreaking, and completely understandable. Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson often gets shafted even by fans of these films, but even though parts of her character (specifically in 1) are dated, she’s such a talented actress who deserves more credit than she gets. It’s great seeing her start to live out her dream as an actress, but her frustration at Peter’s flip-floppiness is also easy to understand. I think that James Franco’s Harry Osborn should’ve gotten even more screen-time in this movie, but seeing the beginning of his decent into vengeance is engaging. Alfred Molina’s Otto Octavius gets plenty of time to shine and cements himself as one of the best film villains of all time (IMO), not just because he can be a very menacing threat, but also because his motivations are easy to identify with and seeing his transformation is so satisfying by the end. By the way, THAT HOSPITAL SCENE?! Masterclass is how to utilize horror in a story like this! Similarly, scenes like MJ and her friend talking about love (from the 2.1 edition), Peter practicing poetry while doing laundry and getting his suit mixed in with the whites, Ursula bringing him a piece of chocolate cake, and the civilians on the train swearing to keep Peter’s secret make this story feel more human than any other cape-flick out there. Also, this movie introduces two of the best characters in any comic book film, The Ditkovich family, so automatic 10/10. Superhero movies like this that are ballsy, melancholic, corny, & filmmaker-driven more than franchise-driven genuinely don’t get made by studios nowadays (with rare exceptions like JL: The Snyder Cut, Glass, and Logan), but luckily we still have this one.
They gave AVI ARAD a big thank you in the credits of NWH But do you know who else deserves a big thank you? LAURA ZISKIN It was because of her and her partner (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the original trilogy and TASM1 had depth Arad on the other hand just wanted to use the movies to sell toys
What a phenomenal video. Ridiculously passionate and incredibly insightful, I feel like my love for Spider-Man 2 has grown tenfold. Let the Raimification roll on!
That introduction to Dikovic😂😂😂😂 i absolutely love that the good people of New York know Peter is Spiderman and say nothing. I also love the little moments with Robbie and Aunt May, THEY KNOW 👀. Spiderman 2 is my favourite movie, has been my whole life, I was born in 2000 and had Spiderman (2002) and Spiderman 2 (2004) on VHS and watched them a million times. I have never been more excited for a movie than when 6 year old me saw Spiderman 3 in cinema. The Batman 2022 made me feel that excitement again after all these years and it didn't disappoint. After all these years Spiderman 2 is still the gold standard for superhero movies
The combined efforts of two UA-cam legends to make this legendary tribute to a legendary film. Very well done Bailey and great hearing from you HiTop. Keep dreaming Keep creating. Keep. It. Going. 🤘
not gonna lie bro when u said the video was gonna be about spiderman 2 i wasn't really excited and said to myself youtube doesn't need another spiderman video essay he should not work his ass off on a fucking spiderman video. but goddamnit youtube needs this video. this is the best fucking spiderman video i have ever seen. i can't even imagine the hell you've must gone through making and editing this video. good shit 👍 last thing i wanna say.. don't ever feel the rush for making a new video. u take ur time to make the best u can and i want to tell u that there's someone out there in the other half of the planet in egypt appreciating u and ur work. don't feel the urge. don't feel anything but pride of yourself.
oh yooo, this is cool to hear. i had a lot of faith that if i tried to make *the best* spider-man 2 video ever, it would be worth it. glad to hear that it was
Didn't realize till checking your channel that most of your thumbnails have the character in black-and-white, so I thought you accidentally used an image from Spider-Man 3 in an essay about 2, lol. Great video thought.
The most telling thing about this video is when Spiderman 2 clips are on screen I know what is going to be said and what is going to happen because I love this movie and have watched did a million times. But when the MCU clips come on screen I've forgotten most of it, even from movies I enjoy like Civil War
This video was a true journey!!! Congratulations on being able to encapsulate the emotions and memories this movie brings. I was only 4 when a watched this movie in cinema, but i remember the feeling of awe and amazement i felt. So watching this video just reinforces how amazing this movie is. Keep the great work and i am exicited for the next video!!!
This video is an absolute masterpiece and what a great collaboration. Thank you so much for this experience and putting into words how great Spider-Man 2 is for the 100th time but I don't care, we will talk about this spectacular film for years to come
I'll be completely honest with you: I grew up with the Rami trilogy and became done with it after Spider-Man 3. the movie I liked the least out of the 3 was Spider-Man 2. Why? When I was younger, I didn't like Spider-Man 2 because it was all full of drama and talking and no action. For the last 15 years, I keep on wondering why people, everywhere I go in public or online, people say that Spider-Man 2 is the best; I fail to understand why. It was until finally in 2018, that I finally got the solution and because I was older and wiser. Peter developed as a human being and we see the cause and effect of how Peter's actions and his role as Spider-Man actually push the plot and develop more plots in the future of his films. How people interact with him, how his actions affect himself and others. Back in 2012, I said that Andrew Garfield is the best Spider-Man just because he made jokes and quips all those years ago. My god, HOW FUCKING STUPID I WAS! I gave up on the Rami trilogy back then because it got overrated for me and such and considered Andrew as the best but then I eventually came to consider Tom Holland the best out of the previous 2. But after watching review and such, Tom Holland MCU spider films are not true to the Spider-Man character and further watching other reviews and is until No Way Home came along to accurately show a portrayal of Spider-Man I loved Spider-man 2 when going to the theater back in 2004 but after rematches I lost interest because there are hardly any action. I fucking retarded I was back then. I now consider Spider-Man 2 to be the best now because of how the careful written forms of storytelling is put into it. I gave up on the Rami trilogy years ago because it got overrated but now I consider the Rami trilogy to be superior not because of preferred media but I believe it to be complete 100 percent fact and have no choice but to say so. People who say otherwise are just people who were like me all those years ago: A retarded child who has absolutely no clue with the analytical mind required and essential to developing a compelling story. all us children wanted was action and no development of an actual human being. Now whenever I say that Rami Spidey is the best, people say that I am being nostalgic and a Rami fanboy, when that is clearly not the case. I say it's the best because I have learned. A child has no sense of carefully plotted out form of storytelling and that is exactly how I was back then: A dimwitted single minded retarded child. Rami is the best hand down and no one can tell me otherwise and no one can tell you other wise either
That whole explanation about why and how the extras are given personalities and how they can create a hype that reflects back to us is something I never considered but seems so true. Probably why I was always hyped up as hell every time this Spider-Man showed up, moreso than anyone else. Martin Campbell did the same with Zorro, when he shows up, it’s like he’s connected to the crowds he’s defending, they support him and it gets you hyped up within 5 seconds of his intro.
Wow really talking about the underrated gems here. You have a genuinely wonderful understanding of filmmaking so why you limit it to blockbusters is beyond me
Hopefully I'll be able to loosen up and talk about smaller stuff again once the channel is back up to regular posting and is growing at a decent rate, but any time I've talked about smaller films those videos tanked entirely, so it's just not worth it at this stage unfortunately.
This video alone is like a whole film school! great job man, I love spider-man 2 more than my own soul 😉 It's great, the fact that two talented movie fans can make such a great video about this movie proves how spectacular this movie and you guys are🥰👏
Wow! Just discovering your channel. First of all, your videos look absolutely beautiful on your home page, sharing that same color scheme. And the videos themselves are so elaborate and detailed. Love em. Keep it up!
Every word, every frame, puts what I've ever thought about this movie so perfectly. I would sum up in one sentence, which is the name of MJ's play in the movie: The importance of being earnest.
I became a patreon for this and it was well worth it. Great video. I’ve always loved Raimi, but Doctor Strange made me rethink why that is. The man just gets it. That loving respect for 2 different mediums. Comics and film. Too often these days I think we see flicks get enamored with only one of those aspects usually being the comics aspect. Anyway thank you for all your hard work. It really shows.
What a fantastic video!! I love your content and the passionate way you speak about these pieces of media so much. Can't fucking wait till you make that tlou pt2 vid haha
This remains my Top 5 (if not Number 1) comic book movie. Its been there for me in times of strife; its layered, its relatable. It hits on every level. While Andy may G still be my fave Peter/Spidey & I could relate a whole lot more to him, this one feels like a universal-relatability. Plus Aunt May's 'Hero' speech is easily a GOAT pep talk. Also the trailer for this liver rent-free in my head (thanks to watching it SO much on Apple Trailers back in '03/'04).
This video fucking hits! 💪 Great stuff Bailey, that hour flewwww. Now I want to spoon you, this movie, and Sam Raimi simultaneously. 🥄🔥11anda1halfminutes/10
What an amazing video man!! You sure did your homework on this video, I loved it so much😍❤️❤️ it was not just about passion about the movie also it was about showcasing the artistry and filmmaking genius that went behind making this movie🤩🔥🤩 and that is so compelling to witness. Analysing it as not just a superhero movie, but a MOVIE first!! And boy what a movie it is😍🥳💕 thank you for making this, looking forward to more🤞🤩🔥
about what you mentioned in the Humans of New York section: I feel like the lack of people to save and obsession with evacuation and uninhabited nature of locations came as a result of the backlash following Man of Steel's finale. It feels like it was a severe overcorrection by studios out of fear of more backlash and that's super unfortunate.
I loved seeing Dr.Strange be very Rami-like,but now, after seeing how Rami’s scripts perfectly set up his Comedy and Drama, I really wish him and Alvin would direct AND write the next Holland Spider-Man film. And dang it either way,I wanna see more web slinging through the city!
Thank you for this video, you perfectly articulated everything that I love about Raimi's Spider-Man! I wish you great success with full time content creation.
I watched sea beast yesterday and was so impressed when they showed blood coming from a child... In a "kids" movie. But the MCU is scared of that ... And it takes so much tention
Discovered your channel today, watched the Oppenheimer video, and the next video recommendation was this video, featuring HiTop, my favourite comic movie UA-camr. Im here to stay!
What do I even say? How do I even begin to express how much love I have for this movie? When I was a kid, it was about wanting to be a superhero, about wanting to be Spiderman, Batman, Ben 10, Sonic the Hedgehog. If there was a superhero, I wanted to be them. But I never knew what it meant, what it REALLY meant to be a superhero. After all how could I? I was just a little kid, no superpowers, no super strength, no webswinging, nothing. It wasn't until I started getting older that I started to realise, you don't have to have powers to be a hero, to be a good person. This movie, no this trilogy is one of the reasons I wanted to be a hero, to do good. Now that I'm older, it inspires me in ways I can't even begin to describe. It drives me to be better, to feel compassion and to care for my fellow man. This movie, this Spiderman means so much to me that I will never be able show you how much. This movie makes me feel, it genuinely makes me want to be a better person, it reminds me that I can CHOOSE to be that better person. I could go on forever about why I love Spiderman 2, about how Peter is beaten down so horribly in this movie and yet he still puts on the mask, or that speech from May, the anthisis of what Green Goblin tried to tell Peter. How about that heartbreaking scene where Peter rejects Uncle Ben's lessons or how the burning building in Spiderman 2 is a perfect mirror to the burning building in Spiderman 1, showing how easy it is for Spiderman to save those people vs Peter and therefore showing how courageous Peter is in the first place. This movie was my favourite Spiderman movie of all time and while that has now been topped for me by Into the Spiderverse and it's theme that ANYONE can be Spiderman, this trilogy will always and forever be, the movies that inspired me to be better, to be Spiderman.
Beautiful video! Spider-Man, and most specifically, the movie Spider-Man 2, tells us and teaches us to always do the right thing and to always keep moving forward, and you expressed just that, and how this movie manages to make the character and story work in such a beautiful manner. You can see how, like many of us, you two have a strong connection with the movie and the character, and how it has given you something meaningful that impacts you and your life, and you show how it can have that power in all of us :)
Spider-Man 3 the guilty pleasure Rami does his best to close out the plot lines laid out in the first 2 movies while v trying to cram venom in it Can you imagine if this movie focused on Harry Osborne and flint Marco alone Props to the team for making a coherent messy film Spider-Man 2 not just a good superhero movie. Purchased a good movie in general.
I remember in my film studies class in high school my teacher used this movie as an example of how write to good dialouge and characters. An interpersonal communications class i took in college also used this movie as an example of real people talking
I had high expectations for this video when it was announced, and yet this video smashed my expectations unlike any other. It’s literally my favorite film of all time and this video better explained it than I probably could. Terrific work the both of you. You deserve it all and more
Amazing Video Bailey! Absolutely loved every second on it. And on a completely different side note I see you're a fan of Brent Weeks as well ;) a true man of culture indeed.
You did it again! Thank you so much for pouring every ounce of love and passion you have into this video, it really shows. Keep on pushing, you got a special gift for this stuff and I cannot wait to see what comes next!
Raimi's Spiderman films work for me, not only because they have great scripts and characters, but because they feel personal and relatable. We can learn from these films, and they can help us become better people. Spiderman 2 isn't my favourite movie ever made, but it's definitely one of my favourites. It taught me about responsibility, and whenever I'm having a rough time, I always think back to Peter and his struggles. They made me feel like I'm not alone, and that there are others out there facing struggles like Peter and I.

LAURA ZISKIN
It was because of her and her partner (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the original trilogy and TASM1 had depth

Thank you for this video, you perfectly articulated everything that I love about Raimi's Spider-Man! I wish you great success with full time content creation.
So dang good, thank you for putting this into the world!
One of my favorite films of all time!! I’m glad you did it justice
This sucks
Sucks good
I can't believe you'd do this
Truly the 2nd best superhero movie I've ever seen. Second only to X-Men Days of Future Past.
"Its pizza time."
beautiful video
ya fuckin nailed this bailey
Fire bro 🔥🔥 keep it up
God this is so fucking cool. I love this. Thank you Bailey, thank you Alex
I watched sea beast yesterday and was so impressed when they showed blood coming from a child... In a "kids" movie.
But the MCU is scared of that ... And it takes so much tention
Amazing video man, Spider-Man 2 means the world to me and it's always nice seeing someone put so much passion into showing it to others as well.
Discovered your channel today, watched the Oppenheimer video, and the next video recommendation was this video, featuring HiTop, my favourite comic movie UA-camr. Im here to stay!
I wish this video never ended
perfection movie
Well I’m now addicted to this channel 😵💫
This was an incredible watch, best one yet Bailey!
Your choice of a black and white spider man for your thumbnail was very misleading. I thought you were going to defend spider man 3.
Spider-Man 3 the guilty pleasure
Rami does his best to close out the plot lines laid out in the first 2 movies while v trying to cram venom in it
Can you imagine if this movie focused on Harry Osborne and flint Marco alone
Props to the team for making a coherent messy film
Spider-Man 2 not just a good superhero movie. Purchased a good movie in general.
absolute fire bro
I remember in my film studies class in high school my teacher used this movie as an example of how write to good dialouge and characters. An interpersonal communications class i took in college also used this movie as an example of real people talking
Peter’s life sucking is the equivalent of Superman, trying to do the right thing, but ultimately being hated for his existence in BVS ultimate edition
Thank god this masterpiece is one NetFlix, now I can experience this amazing work of art at anytime
That was good
I had high expectations for this video when it was announced, and yet this video smashed my expectations unlike any other. It’s literally my favorite film of all time and this video better explained it than I probably could.
Terrific work the both of you. You deserve it all and more
Nice Video
I like how hitop is the p Diddy to lover boy medias biggie smalls
Amazing Video Bailey! Absolutely loved every second on it. And on a completely different side note I see you're a fan of Brent Weeks as well ;) a true man of culture indeed.
great books!! my dream to make them into films
Oh man.. I DID NOT know this was an hour long. Analysis bout to go crazy.
Holy guacamole this video is brilliant and also made me realize how bad I need to see Spider-Man two in black-and-white
Mentions snake puppets when in that scene Alfred was lifted up on wires and the arms were digital.
This year we will have our 4th and 5th Spider-Man 2s
I hate J Jonah Jameson in not way home ...just bc of the fact he works in a Greenscreen Homestudio
...
they wanted to make an alex jones allegory instead of making a good j jonah jameson character
You did it again! Thank you so much for pouring every ounce of love and passion you have into this video, it really shows. Keep on pushing, you got a special gift for this stuff and I cannot wait to see what comes next!
What an amaaaaazing video. Thank you for this.
INSANELY GOOD VIDEO I LOVE THE WORK AND PASSION YOU PUT INTO IT. THIS SHOULD GET SO MANY VIEWS JUST TRUST
Can't watch it today but I will as soon as I can!
Tobey is the best Spiderman/Peter Parker of all time
Raimi's Spiderman films work for me, not only because they have great scripts and characters, but because they feel personal and relatable.
Damn this was lit
The concept of BATHOS hit extra hard with the ad breaks.
HAHAHAHAH
Where is the Spider-Man 3 video?
Heeeey my name is at the end of the video! Happy to support this, Bailey! Loved the video!
and thank you for that 🙏
