Both the original and remake of Resident Evil 4 are amazing in different ways. Resident Evil 2 Remake is very close behind them
Funny enough, I find Classic Re4 to be superior until Re2 Remake came out. And I think Re2 remake is better than re4 remake.
The really missed out with 4 remake by changing to much, if they just kept some of the originals tone and charm it could have been the best, but ye I agree it and the original are very close, the gameplay is just so fun
@@nyallleary1643 I seemed like the classic tone was fighting with it's new approach to the characters. You see the character's voice acting feel very different to the way they are animated and behaving. But personally, I think they fucked up primarily on the Professional Difficulty. It's not even challenging, just running to the next area because enemies are bullet sponges, and stagger is too random and becomes unreliable. The only thing that saves it for me is Mods that make stagger universal like OG RE4. Making the game much more enjoyable, and still very challenging since enemies are hard to kill.
@@nyallleary1643 its a remake, they fcking should change stuff, otherwise there is no point in it
@@Exel3ncechange things for the better or don’t change them at all, re4 remake doesn’t even need to exist.
OG RE4 is not only the best game in the series, it's one of the best video games ever made. Up there with Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros 3, Breath of the Wild, Chrono Trigger, Ninja Gaiden Black, Metroid Prime, MGS3, DMC3, Street Fighter 2, Link to the Past, Mario Galaxy, Final Fantasy VI, Rondo of Blood, etc. It belongs to an elite list of video games.
At this point, the titles of the videos aren't relevant to the actual contents. Between the three of them, they haven't even played half of the mainline games, so really it's using the topic of the highlight as an excuse to drum up discussion in the comments.
I understand why the uploader does it this way, but it's both mildly misleading and also makes the boys look like bigger casuals than they actually are. Oh well, at least it means people get to have fun talking about their favourites down below.
i dont even know why they are looking up this list, cause they didnt play really that much. and all the titles that are missing and are better than classic nostalgia bait, were never touched by them
@@Exel3nce It's pretty clear they don't put too much thought into their content beyond "That sounds like a good idea. Let's do it!"
They already did it with anime and manga, so they figured why not do games too, only to realize during the episode that they barely play any games between the three of them...
Or the bread episode, where they wanted to capitalize on the meme, only to realize that they couldn't actually get multiple types of bread for the tier list...
Or when they basically did an entire Chris Chan episode despite NOT having that type of audience, and the reception was generally pretty poor as a result...
They just kinda do stuff on a whim and don't think about the logistics of it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
@@Sharkofspace some stuff work without knowledge, reviewing/rating games out of a top game list doesn't.
Agreed
Yeah it’s kind of awkward watching them try to determine the best one when they’ve all only played a combined total of just barely half the games
RE4 and RE4R are the correct answer
* RE3 & RE1 REmake
@@GAZAMAN93X if you're talking about the original 1999 re3, then you are very right.
@@Soul-nj2poRE3 original is just an underappreciated masterpiece, often overshadowed by RE2&4 (both original and remake 2&4), games that I still love, but man I'm glad 3 is getting more love nowadays
Resident Evil 1 Remake is the right answer. It’s the definitive survival horror experience.
Ik it sounds so typical but original RE4 is just so fun
Even the Remake was incredible as well
@@brodaforlife Facts! RE4 is one of the only game I have cared to “speedrun” just for fun + bonus content. I know this is a RE staple by now, but admittedly, only RE4 + R4make had me going back so often.
Resident evil 4 in my opinion
I’m so glad that Bioshock is ranked very high in Metacritic . It’s such a phenomenal game that everyone should at least tryout.
everyone already did. its not like its an unknown gem. its a good ass classic, even if some shouldnt be on the list
Its 4 by default due to how successful and popular the game was and continues to be. Not to mention the way it shaped the genre (for better and for worse) is paramount to the history of the series.
most success ≠ best quality
@iconicthief9204 Being the best isn't the same as being the most popular. Not all of those games in the list are the highest rated or universally agreed as the best in their series. Quality plays a part, but other factors as well determine what makes a game so popular.
@@iconicthief9204 like we see in that list
RE1 remake stomps them all actually
@@toxiccorgi2108but the question isn't which one is most popular
The thing is that The Orange Box was never sold a la cart, except on Steam. And it had three brand-new games on it.
Resident Evil 4 was the first of its Genre and was very successful, both scary and action balanced Perfectly.
It definitely did not invent a genre. Also personally for me the only 2 scary things in the game were regenerators and stage 3 plagas parasites. Obviously opinions will differ, but your first statement is actually just false
yeah RE4 was far from the first in it’s genre. just the most popular
Ah RE5 aka Chris’s African Adventure. Truly the game ever
And then the fever dream that is 6 (it was still fun with a friend lol)
REmake is the best for the OG survival horror. Resi 2 remake or Resi 4 remake is probably the best for newer audiences. Code Veronica is up there too
Yeah JRPGs weren't released in Europe until the PS1 era.
Honestly, resident evil 7 for me was just magnificent truly
connor doesnt pay attention to the RE games story and now hes saying dumb stuff about em
A parasite is not a disease, Connor! You’re supposed to be smarter than that!
This is the same guy that says food poisoning is not an illness. He is definitely NOT smarter than that.
3:34 there is no graveyard mission in Goldeneye, I assume he means the statue level.
For me that's og re3 i wish capcom did the game justice like re1 a simple and amazing remaster instead whatever re3 remake was
Yeah, RE3 remake lost me the moment I saw that they didn't remake the opening with the cops making their last stand against the zombies.
I honestly can't believe how badly they fucked up the remake of 3, even more so considering how much a
Of an absolute banger there first 2 remakes were
God these dudes are having L takes again. Especially when it comes to naughty dog. Uncharted 2 is goated.
I agree. The start of Uncharted 2 on the train is a moment I'll always remember. from when I was younger. They're not really taking into account the impact of the games during their time. Most games aren't going to age amazingly especially with how far technology has come. Uncharted 2 was definitely goated tho
The zombies in 5 have the same parasite as the ones in 4. They aren’t just “sick”
Technically, no.
@@mongooseunleashed I mean it's variant at least. I haven't played in a while so I can't recall the exact details
@@Guy811 Well, it's like the T virus to the G virus. Wesker combined the Plagus with the Veronica virus. The big difference is that it infects you immediately. I don't know what he did with Uroboros virus though.
@Guy811 Yeah, it's a varient. Wesker improved on it. It's like saying a dog is the same as a wolf.
@@mongooseunleashed yeah I just meant that if you're ok with killing the villagers in 4, then you should be ok in 5 as well
13:20 wasn’t expecting the blockbuster callback
I’m 20 for reference 💀
I prepare at the beginning of the video to here some interesting takes
The title doesnt have anything to do with the topic. Also I hate that Garnt is Fate fan and calls the RE storylines WEIRD. Also, Connor didnt paid attention to the storylines. Garnt didnt play any of the games so WHY is he talking?
My friend, the podcast is literally named "TRASH TASTE". Why would you ever take these guys seriously.
Plus as an avid fan of Resident Evil, their storylines do get really weird and bonkers a lot of the times.
@@shade_zz1585 I dont get why do a video on a topic you clearly know nothing about.
@@imbored7119 Because it's fucking hilarious lmao.
@@shade_zz1585
Listening to a bunch of clwns talking nonsense about stuff they know nothing of can only be _hilarious_ for so long.
The first time I played Resident Evil 4, I didn't realize you could run. Somehow, I still beat the game and it made every moment feel more intense.
The best: RE4 and RE4Remake
Most fun: RE5 (co-op)
More bang for your buck: RE6 (games meh, but a 21 hr campaigns with so much replay-ability)
Most original: RE7
nice edit on goldeneye
If you are into RE for the horror element, RE3 is the best one.
RE7 is way scarier
Resident Evil 7 would like to have a word.
I agree
I think re1 remake was the scariest. Those crimson heads terrified me the first time I saw one 😂
Sly 2 is goat'd
My favorite is original RE3. but i think the objective best is RE 2 remake
Re4 Remake probably. Re4 Original is probably better in terms of pacing and memorability, but the remake got a lot right as well that makes me wanna return to the remake more than the original.
Re7 is clear and away the best and scariest and the one with the least corny story and dialogue. I’ll defend it until I die I don’t care.
Least corny dialogue definitely goes to 2 remake. Ethan is nothing but corny
@@skweebwellingtoni completely disagree. Leon in 2 remake not only has corny dialogue, but his voice action direction sounds like it’s from a completely different game franchise. it’s so goofy and animated.
The og re4 is still the best imo and by quite some distance
Isn't Resident Evil 4 Remake a bit different compared to the original?
7:58 this is the premise for about every RE game why is 5 all of a sudden weird because of it?
4 is my favorite and is arguably the best
Love 2 Remake and 7 though
Portal and TF2 PREMIERED on the Orange Box. Steam Sales hadn't even become a proper phenomenon when it came out in 2007. The fact that they released that many games for the price of one was a big deal.
Resident Evil 4 is goofy as hell, and it's so stranged how nobody seems to have noticed. 😅
Everyone noticed but that’s what makes it so good
Bruh you sure you know the fandom? These are the same people who cheered when they found out the ‘bingo’ line made it into the remake.
Best ? Original RE2
Top 3 Probably
RE4 the og one
RE 7
RE 2 Remake
RE4 being one of its kind, still feel good to play today
RE7 bring fresh feeling to play with first person POV
And RE2 remake shows justice and what remake should be done
RE4 OG
Played them all (except 5) 2 Years ago for the first time and I must say the 1st one ist the best of them all. The atmosphere, the gameplay, it's just perfect to me. I wish they also had remastered RE 2-3 in the same way as they did it with one. I didn't like 2 and 3 remastered. 4 is okayish (don't know the remake) 5 was just shit that's why I quit it after 1h and 6 was okayish too. 7 was the first good one again and village, I didn't play (and won't). The thing I hate the most about RE is that inconsisntecy. From tank controls, to 3rd, to 1st person. From horror to almost shooter. Controls change always and story changes from zombies and mutants to fantasy-like creatures. That's why I don't play the new ones anymore. If you would call the new games something else and change a few names of the enemies and characters you play, you wouldn't even know that it's a RE game. In that case, Silent Hill did a waaay better job (played all of them last year for the first time). And I enjoyed them much more than RE.
Bioshock is a GOATd series
Too bad only the first one is good
series? no, not really
@@squeezyjibbz7407 no way you really believe that
@@Exel3nce The first and second one are really great
@@TheLiddojunior the second one not so much no
I personally prefer RE5 over RE4. then again, I might be biased since i love Chris and Wesker's rivalry and Jill is my favorite RE protag.
PS: I played all the mainline and spinoff games.
thats just....eww
@@Exel3nce At least it's not 6
@@internetgoat4831I love six :'0 its so idiotically fun with friends
Biohazard easily
Australia always used PAL region codes, and I think we mostly get the European versions.
Do these guys even know who Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine or who Leon Kennedy is?
They dont sound like they know anything. And you dont even need to play the games to know basic game knowledge.
they dont
Not a popular pick but I'd say re6 is very nice
Real ones know that Re1 remake is the best it gets in terms of the essence of resident evil
all resident evils are good 6 is ok not crazy good but love resident evil
resident evil 6 the action is hilauroius i liked it soo much
Bingo ?
Re2r is the best resident evil game. Re4r is hands down the best game in the series.
I totally forgot how bad their takes are, now I remember
Resident Evil 2 is the best survival horror game of all time. Resident Evil 4 is an action game (third person zombie/creature shooter), a nearly total departure from the elements that made the first three RE games survival horror. Each release after RE 4 was in this action game style. As an aside, I have played all of the Resident Evil games - I bought RE 1 for the gray box on original release, and each subsequent RE game on release, and all of the remakes as well (RE 3 was butchered in the remake).
Wasn't RE3 the first one to lean into more action than survival horror? If I remember correctly the moment you start the game you have a 100% rifle in your inventory and that one item that flat out gives you more ammo when crafting bullets. Most of the horror came from nemesis as the regular zombies just get mowed down from the hail of gunfire and even then I don't really remember running out of ammo. Feel free to correct me on this cause I haven't re-played the original RE3 for awhile so I might be mistaken.
@@johnjason1472 My recollection is you don't start with the rifle. You've got to negotiate the streets of RC, unlocking your pathway and trying not to get your head eaten (I clearly remember having to put out the fire - backtracking to get the goddamned hose) - before finding your way into the underground complex. Nemesis does chase you, but he was introduced in RE 2, so it was more a case of, "Crap, that bastard is back!" You are never swamped with enemies, like you are in RE 4. Are you thinking of the remake of RE 3? I have no recollection of having to craft ammo in the original RE 3, just the usual finding and picking up ammo.
@@bradmenpes809 I found the item, it's called the reloading tool. RE3 was apparently the first resident evil to introduce the concept of ammo crafting in the franchise and the assault rifle is only on the present when playing in "easy mode". Weirdly enough the original RE3 did not have a "normal mode", its just easy and hard. So I probably replayed on easy that time for a less stressful experience.
As a RE fan, to hear these comments was horrible to my ears. Yes, RE6 story is horrible and all over the place and RE5 I can agree its very wierd to new players, but saying RE stories are wierd is fuck up, they have to play the RE 1 Remake, 2 a s 3, if they lile it then 0 and Code Veronica. 5 and 6 are the ugly child
Yeah RE4 is the best RE game and anyone who calls me a fake fan can go out the door I don’t want to hear your opinions.
Resident Evil 5 is a terrible RE game. But its an awesome co-op game.
RE4, both OG and Remake. Next question
As someone who marathoned Resident Evil during lockdown, 1 was the best, closely followed by 2. I didn't find 7 or 8 scary (or good). It really surprised me that people did
7 was going back to its roots, thats why. it was re but in first person. it was fcking fantastic (until you get to the boat)
8 was just pure fun. over the top re game-y fun. and thats a good thing
ps. resident evil was never scary, so why is that a downside for 7 or 8
@@Exel3nce I don't think 7 was first person RE, shooting zombies felt like shooting a brick wall for one. though it was more in the style than 4, 5 and 6. I actually think 7 and 8 are objectively good games but first person horror is not my thing. I don't consider 7 and 8 not being scary as a bad thing, I didn't want them to be but I was very surprised to find out that people considered them more scary than games I had always heard were terrifying
@@thomasbowman5155 Resident evil 7 went back to its roots on the first half with routing the map and backtracking for keys, etc. Even had a Mr x following you around with the bakers. Then the last half of the game is just classic RE 4,5 when the grand reveal that it's all Umbrella shennanigans again with the mold experimentation. Also you have to remember that the Resident evil franchise was in the dumpster limbo after horrid Resident evil 6 and there was years of nothingness for the series.People weren't even sure if RE7 was a RE game at the time it was announced. It was a breath of fresh air when it got released.
@@thomasbowman5155 My first time ever seeing an objectively wrong take about RE.
@@arjunsingh8219 Well, I'll see what else I can do for you. 0 would have been a good game if it wasn't so hard, RE1 works better with tank controls, RE4 was the weird left turn in the series not RE5. RE5 was a lot of fun I've completed it twice, I didn't like Code: Veronica, Operatiion Racoon City is fun for what it is
How about Hogwarts Legacy?
Resident evil 6 is better than 4
said noone ever
I wouldn't say it's better, but I think RE6 was good and that people over-hated it.
@@wchan39 good? That shit is beyond awful. Its torture
6 is literally, objectively the worst in the mainline series
No matter how much capcom trys to berry it, og RE4 will always be the best one, with all its flaws and mistakes, remake is just... dull.
the remake is sweet asf. dull is truly not fitting
