- No modifications (both bikes slip-ons only). ZX10R was already doing 299kph and the S1000RR was catching it and only got to 285kph (makes you think?) . Both bikes are not restricted like in the US or some other country's.
arguing which 1000 ccm bike is faster is just pointless. they are all damn fast bikes. and we love all of them
When I had to choose my bike, it was between the zx10r and the BMW. It wasn't a hard dicition. They are both monster bikes but the s1k stole my heart. U just can't beat it!!!
My highly modified 2005 ZX-10 R would have smoked them both. After 2005 the ZX engines were dumbed down and had less power by design. Once upon a time I raced a 2004 until a bad accident cut my short racing career shorter. I have nearly the same mods on my street ZX as was on my race bike. It was a gift from my crew that I really enjoy. Nothing like blowing away a ZX12-R, a Hayabusa or any number of bikes a modern stock ZX-10 R shouldn't have a chance against. Top speed isn't limited to 185.

Both bikes are with standard gearing. BMW is out by 5km/h (GPS tested) that makes the Kawa something like 20km/h out (very optimistic speedometer straight form the manufacturer :-P ). I guess they want to make the riders happy as long there is no BMW around LOL!

it's standard on the BMW. actually it's more like a shift assist and not a proper quick shifter.
It is easy to watch in the video, that with each change of gear the BMW gains time... So quick shifter is the winner!
Other fact...
When they started in 3rd gear, Kawasaki just put the hp on the ground and was leaving dust for the s1k, got 4th gear and kept going, then BMW recovers with the shifting!
Put a quick shift on that Kawa, and let's see what happens. :)

Yep the Kawa was reading 299kph already from about 280 something! Thats how the Japanese made they bikes faster for about last 10 years. Thank God BMW came and rubbed they noses. Video doesn't show nicely but we tested this bikes and another one (Kawa 205hp) too against BMW S1000RR (196hp)more than 50 times with the same results. Sorry to all Kawa lovers but this is the fact!
@iAgentLu. This is obviously a 2011 kawi zx10r it's just that people always leave out the r. Kawasaki does not make a zx10 just the zx10r which is what we just watched in the vid. I like both bikes but

If you want to see which is the quickest, compare the both on a track... Pleasure and performance are not only a straight line...
@MySpaceSucks3 yes of course. It would still only do 186mph since they are electronically restricted. U can re gear it until the cows come home it still wouldn't go any faster. So unless u have remapped the ecu which op says the bike is stock then u are still stuck at 186mpj

it comes stock with the quick shifter. no clutch needed for upshifting, even when putting around town
Ok my mistake, thanks for pointing that out mate. It's stupid that the ZX10R is restricted in the USA yet everywhere else they get full power. It's not as if the USA spec bikes are going to save the Earth of carbon emissions and noise pollution! The Ninja deserves to be unleashed as its a worthy challenger for the S1000RR.

I feel like the speedo is more accurate too. I wonder if the kawasaki is reading 299 the whole time the bmw is reading 275 to 285kph.
@ Chris Carter, this is in Australia so the ZX10 has full power it's not restricted like the USA model so reflash means shit over here in Australia. And in the vid description both bikes have slip ons which means the BMW also has the cat converter still fitted. And the BMW rider is heavier and the bike also heavier than the ZX10. So it's a proven fact the BMW is faster than the Zx10 no excuses, sorry to break your Green heart buts that's the truth my friend.
1. Watch the K1600GT or the s1000rr!! BMW build engines to dominate!!! That's their way of life!!!
2. Don't forget the Quickshifter on the s1000rr!! If both bikes here are in stock, the BMW saves time if she shifts up!!!
if they are standard then they have the same top speed of 299kph, since 2002 or 2003 cant remember exactly ALL bikes are electronically restricted to 186mph/299kph. i dont quite know how to get by this but my first guess would be a remap of the ECU. so if anyone tells you their bike is standard and is newer than those years and they tell you the top speed is anymore than 186mph/299kph they are bullshitting you
What I saw there was two awesome bikes that offer performance that's quite literally identical save for rider weight/skill and the Kawi cost 10G less

From what I observed, the bmw wins hands down, better looking, first race u can see the bmw has a high top speed and was pulling on him, second race cleary the bmw passed him on 3rd gear.
I own a kawi. Hate to tell you the Beemer rules in power and performance in any country. Most powerful liter bike ever built Period
In this video just a bit! but BMW was doing it every time for at least 50 times and it was always fun to let it go first and than play with it!

If we went from first or even second gear the Kawa was only able to see my dust! We didn't want you guys to say that it was the rider or gear change issue.
Problem with japanese bikes. They hit 200mph, but break shortly after. BMW offers performance and reliability. Sure it's more expensive, but your paying for quality, agility, reliability, and a fine tuned machine that will dominate on the race track as well as on the road. BMW all the way.
Not surprised at all by the results here , the BMW will always get to its top speed sooner as its got a quick shifter , fit one to the zx and there really isn't anything between the two .

I still see that cat converter on that ninja. That bike still being held back a good bit. Nice race and the ninja was pulling away from it a little bit then towards the last few seconds you can see the s1 trying to pull it in. Kawasaki forever^_^ Get the real power out of that zx and flash that ecu, do another run and lets see how well it goes

I bleed Green and Black. Been riding Kawasaki's my whole life. I bought an 04 ZX10R last year with 2800 original miles. I love that bike more than anything on earth, but I would sell my mama for an S1000RR

just read your description....if the zx10r was doing 299....and you only get to 285....you're going to lose ground...something going slower isnt going to gain on something going faster...that's simple logic....so it's safe to assume the zx10r...was never doing 299 if the 1000rr was catching it

I hope BMW bikes are more reliable then their motorcars lol cause otherwise what a waste of money. Fantastic Bike for the buck but id love to see a roll on with the new 1199 Panigale S. Aparrently some race driver hit 310Kph in the 1199 on the straight of some race track. S1000RR has a top of 305 if im not mistaken

Definitely not worth the BMW when you can buy the kawi so much cheaper... Just a air filter on the kawi and it would win.. I used to ride Kawi now I got 2 GSXR 1000's do I have my fair share of knowledge...

Not much in them at all. I've rode the bmw, Thought it lacked power below 8000 rpm. Why I brought a ducati 1198s.

different gearing puts the speedo out, some are out from factory
Different gearing has no effect on the BMW's speedo as it takes its reading from the abs wheel speed sensors

Not even close! We rode together many times and BMW was always quicker! I rode against other Kawa too and it had no chance too! Note we tested from 3 gear and BMW is geared differently to Kawa ( longer gears ). You would have to see what my S1000RR was doing to it from 1 or 2nd gear. I am 30kg heavier than the ZX10RR rider too. JAPANESE MANUFACTURERS LIE! (BMW196hp vs Kawa205hp)
