- This is the world's first review of the 2011 Kawasaki ZX10r. We are not professional reviewers, we are not video journalists, we can hardly operate a video camera but we managed to get our hands on a pre release 2011 ZX10r that we abused on the race track. Making the video was good fun so we hope you like it.

Finally a decent review!!! Thanks guys!! Get so tired of clicking on a vid and it's just 2 guys arguing over who gets to ride the damn thing first.
Why does this video only have 10,000 views? This is the best review I could find for the bike pretty much anywhere. Thanks for making and uploading!
I just took this beast out for a test ride last week. This bike was amazing, cant wait to get one. perfect liter bike for smaller riders.
guys this is a great, informative and entertaining review! keep on going!! cheers from austria!
best bike review ive seen in ages, good show guys!
Freakin awesome review man. Just what I was looking for. All of my questions have been answered about this bike. Thank you.
Nice video guys! I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good stuff.
Good review guys. I had a zx-10r back in 2004 ans it was a total beast. I can't imagine how the 2011-12-13 feels, must be awesome.
Brilliant review guys!
Great review! Better than what MotoUSA and MCN does. Loved how objective you were! You weren't prejudiced by Kawasaki to say "Oh it was really lovely!" like Im sure they do with the magazines! Great job guys. Keep this template for any other vid reviews you do in the future, cos it works. Cheers from Australia.
Great job on the review- nice objective commentary-- Thanks!
You did a very good job on this review!
I faved and subbed as a result! :)
Gonna get mine in black on Monday!
I think that the Low Power mode is what makes it great for city riding!
Take care
I'm 6'5 over 200 pounds. I ride a 2006 gsxr 750. And I have no problem at all riding it. Adjustable footpegs and a comfortable riding position. Honda superbikes are also very comfortable. Hope this helps. Safe riding!
Great review guys!
good review. can't wait to see them on the track
Thanks for this review it just made my mind up....
awesome to have a sweet bike shop so close to home. (Canmore) hope to visit next season.
Now that is a cool review. Thanks guys.
for guys that can barely operate a camera, you did one hell of a review!
I only weight 135 and I'm 5"6' but when i sat on this bike I felt perfect. I'm used to the up-right riding position on my ex250 ninja so the aggressive position was kinda cool. I could literally lay my chest across the tank. The seat was low and narrow so that helped me reach the ground way better than the R6. I wanna skip the 600 class and go for this bike.
That’s what I did mate. When I bought my first zx10 I’d actually booked to go test ride and buy the zx636 at the time but I saw the 10r outside the store and after riding the 636 I was like “meh, not my favourite but I’m going to buy it anyway” my mum said “have a go on that one you’re drooling over because you might never get the chance”.
I brought that back after an hour and a half, I was only 20 mins on the smaller bike 😂😂
I just said “is there one of these ready to go today” cos that bike was made for me, it just felt right in every way shape and form. Sadly I had to wait 6 weeks but I had every extra going and de-restricted.
I loved that bike. Really did.
Traded it in for the 2011 version 2 years later and bought it without even a test ride, totally different bike 🤦♂️
Literally they squeezed the bigger motor into the 600 frame and put stuff on it that makes me more of a dick than I would be otherwise, abs and traction quickly become removal of all apprehensions. Love these machines. I really do
good stuff, thanks guys
that slip-on looks fantastic!
Bike is very smooth. Even at high speeds. There was no shake in there at all. Love the new 10r. Its a monster for sure. Once you flash that ecu, hold on to dear life cause its hauling ass! Its a busa and gen 1 and gen 2 14 killer. This bike is the only bike that makes good power with just a slip on. Cause it comes with some great headers on it alright. Kawasaki recommends you dont change them out. Just get the slip that removes the cat and its game time. K&N filter, PCV with auto tune. Winning!
Chris Carter wow younsound knowledgeable tell mw more please
Nice video I cant wait for more. question for you. If the euro model is flush in the turn signals can the us version be mod to be flush or is it going to be a lot of work?
really good vid
Holy cow this is a good review. I'm prolly going to pick up one of these.
New zx10 is ugly
nice review..
Oh my god, this is a very, very good Review.
@adc3n good point, however there is a point where the ABS engages, that's what Dave is talking about. Unfortunately when you do an unscripted, seat of the pants review, some things are said that are unclear. We also had a voice volume issue, but thanks for watching!
I'm loving my zx10r 2013
How many km's u got?
Any issues?
Have you fixed anything?
pretty good review
BEAUTIFUL BIKE
@RedlineMS501 Why!? They sure as hell shouldn't be. You guys made one of the very best bike reviews I've ever seen. What I love about your review is that it's so down-to-earth and real world. It's no bull shit and you guys have your own agenda, not the agenda of some manufacturer/sponsor (or so it would seem, at least...). Anyway really great review guys. PLEASE make more, seriously!
guys this review is amazing i am inspired to purchase a motorcycle. Your video just showed me that i really need a bike now. I am a new to this 6.3" 165lb what bike would you recommend for a started bike. I am very controlled i would be wrackless and still i don't want too much power that i would get my self into trouble. Someone said 250r are good starters but i got on it, rode it around the block and it feels dead i mean my car got more of a punch and it was crammed for my legs. sv650? 650r?
@dracdrum we are in Calgary, Canada. The Z1000 in the background is the all new 2011 model.
@2:10 love how you can see the tall grass growing through the pavement.
@Cbr1000solider yes that is a very good point, shows a good approach to riding.
dudes getting swarmed by bees at 2:16 lmao
@RedlineMS501 My buddy just got a 2011 ZX10 and i was told that he had to keep it under 4,000 rpms under 500 miles and under 6,000 before 1,000 miles to break it in. So my question if its a brand new bike and your shifting at 13,000 rpms is that bad fro the engine? Thanks
I love the brakes on the new 10! Bike just all out bad ass! Only thing i hate since its new is the brake in deal lol. Gotta keep it at 4000 rpm which is like 57-60mph. I'll put up with that but soon as I'm at the point to where I can blast it, its on! Got the 2012 model
Do you have any info on the technical hold that Kawasaki has placed the new ZX-10R this month and whether it relates to bikes sold in Canada? A dealer I spoke to in Montreal this week said he'd never even heard of it.
Hey really nice review I'd say you put a lot more detail in comparison with some professional journalist videos
@77rxpharmacy it does feel smaller than the previous generation. I think it is mosly a weight position. The weight feels lower in the frame so the sensation is that the bike feels smaller.
@motomallen lol, me too! That was fun but the opportunity doesn't come around too often.
Have you driven the 2011 R1 as well? If so, which do you like better?
Dave is such a stickler!
Where is that accent from ? Are you Canadian? Great Review!
Nice bike and nice video! How tall are you? How would a 6.2, 220 lbs guy fit on this?
This was a really good video review. Watching some of the other bike reviews on UA-cam is an exercise in frustration. They are heavy on the rhetoric and try too hard to sound interesting...all the while, they don't really give any substance.
@maken3 the Euro model has flushmounts, the North American model has lights mounted on posts.
hey im thinking of getting a street bike in the next few years would a 600cc street bike be good for a starter bike. I don't wanna get a 250 have mastered it and bored within 6 months.
How much HP and torque did the high power mode make?
@netefrog the FZ6 is a very good choice for a first bike.
i am 6'7 do you think i could fit comfortably on this bike if not would you suggest one that i might try out
do you know if the cbr 1000 is around the same weight as the zx10r.....im talking about 2012 models for both of them
I've been hearing a lot about how the newer thousands feel like a 600... I wonder, do they REALLY feel that small? The last thousand I rode was an '03 R1 (I know, an '03 is a relic compared to the new) and it felt so much heavier and harder to steer than my 600RR. Since then I sort of stayed away from thousands. But I'm thinking about moving up, possibly an 1198SP, S1000RR, or this 2011 ZX10R. At the moment I'm leaning toward the Ninja.
Yay Calgary, Alberta
@RedlineMS501 thanx for reply, it is really good :-) anyway how about that dyno video? :-)
thumbs up!
The reason why the 10' model harder to move from side to side compared to the 11' model is because the 10' has a "monocoque" frame which rides up OVER the engine as opposed to around the sides of the engine. So with all that weight high up on the bike it makes it harder to shift from side to side. Also there is too much pitching action under hard acceleration and hard braking. This new model looks great!
sory but did they do any work on the zx6r this year?
Does the power mode effect mpg?
@maken3 as Redline already answered, anyway there are more differences in US and EURO models (like front side reflectors), also on my 04 ZX10, there are much bigger rear indicators than on EURO model
Same old question guys. I'm 6'2, about 220lbs, 26 years young. Is a Yamaha FZ6R a good choice for a first bike?
@BenEoS89 you're right, the BT-016's will be great for street riding. The reason Brad whined about the tires a little is that we were testing at the track and the tires were slowing us down. We were comparing them to the Pireli Corsa street tires which were on the 2010. The Pireli's would be a better higher performance street tire as a stock tire option, that's all.
@Brunocmarino eh brunao tambem quero saber!!!! rss but anyway you have a great bike!! abraço
junior
@Xman lol nice :) thx for the advice
M4 GP is actually louder, I have heard them both in person. and if you get MJS racing headers you basically have a custom race exhaust
what is top speed in 3 gear kawa? in km/h pls
@skylarrayyoung Your right i started out also on dirt bikes and i took the Rider safety course ass well. If anything it gets me discounts on insurance, and helped boost some confidence in the transition from dirt to asphalt
this is the best bike around at the moment, and not saying it cos i own one cos I dont. Just look at all the stock trim racing classes, they are full of these, cos its the best thing at the moment
Is that an imported Z1000SX in the background of some of this video? Or are you guys in Europe?
I still have a 2004 ZX10r and the new 2011 bike has more grunt and is way better behaved. The new bike feels heavier and way more solid. Fun factor, maybe the 2004 still puts a bigger grin on my face just because it's so crazy to ride.
@RedlineMS501 I saw a Ninja decal on the side, and it has full fairing. I think that is a Ninja 1000. The color through me off because its only gonna be Black or Black and Burgandy in the states, I guess Canada gets the Green one (looks like the Euro Z1000SX (same bike)) The Ninja 1000 is based off the Z1000 but has a larger fuel tank and fairings.
race city!!! hey man. i have a group of 40 sportibke riders here in red deer. alot of us really want to get to a track and away from these horrible straight roads :(.
- I heard calgary was a horrible track with potholes everywhere. is this true? what are the track days like? can i show up with full leathers a helmet and go have some fun or do i have to go through some orientation stuff?
thank you
i wish they wouldve stayed closer to the look of the 2010 and before than the 2011. I like the older models looks better
@W1LLPARKER that could be true, we can only say what we saw and that video will be up soon. 170 might be possible but it is a bit of a stretch by just changing the pipe. I think electronics need to be changed as well to release the beast.
I thought the 2011 zx10r has the flush mounted rear indicators...the one in this video doesn't for some reason?
@bandguy360 nah man i would have to say that this is the best looking zx in a while the 2010 was alright i like the green and black paint job this year
@helmut48de the song is just a "canned" song that is included with the Sony video editing software I use. I do like it though.
@jimbo80982 lol, 10c at 270 kmph does get a little chilly.
@lars06r6 - I did ride it but not in the video because I was operating the camera. Maybe next time.
Thanks ,nice job you guys beat everyone to a review. I'm sure the rags really hate you for it.
You can tell you guys did a fantastic job by the relatively small number of morons commenting on it. Great Job! Look forward to seeing you out at Race City this summer.
❤❤❤❤
@lgarvey Yes that bike will work great for that.
damn a lap timer? this thing is built for the track
coooool thanx :-)
so it didn't break 200hp? what did it make?
@lmind2 don't know, it stands to reason that it would.
Do you fill it with 95 or 98Roz?
@opmike343 we just said what we thought, without any regard to Kawasaki. They were pissed at us but who cares, we still love the bike.
@Brunocmarino WHAT IS THE FINAL VELOCITY MEAN BHP
@erniethefart If that dyno measured the HP at the rear wheel, then that sounds about right when you take drive-train loss into consideration. Vehicle manufacturers, cars and motorcycles, advertise the power of the engine on its own since it's a bigger number than at the wheels. Bigger numbers sound better for marketing. :)
For a second there, I thought I was watching FARGO.lol
Yep, from the great white north - Calgary. We still ride when it's cold and stupid to do so lol
@Laonidas1 Just get what you want, i was told to get a 250, but i got an 09 zx6r instead. Had bazzaz zfi-tc on it with a full M4 ss exhaust, one tooth down on the front sprocket for better acceleration. Rode it for 4 months then sold it for zx10r.
@sunnyshinde100 both are outstanding bikes, I love them both. Buy the one that fits you the best and makes you grin the most.
@808crazyshit when buying a new bike you should redline the gears for about 30kms and they usually perform better then the way the dealer tells you to break it in.
Kawi engines are run in on a bench past redline for 30 second intervals to break them in, fluids drained, and then shipped. They tell you to do it easy so they don't get sued..
