    You had me at "Presonus." I have been a HUGE Presonus fan for about 13 years. They are DEFINITELY not long throw speakers. I read the specs on it and it says they're focused. At 1000 watts peak 100 feet outside makes sense. Now I gotta go get some and fly them. LOL!

    The CDL12P is such a clear sounding box. Not harsh at all. You can hear that clarity with your videos.

    Thank you for your videos. I appreciated your first video with the CDL's, because I also agreed that a dj might not appreciate these speakers. I have only two at the moment. I do sound for a wedding band and through the years, when the seniors see larger (or Newer) speakers, they usually start off with the fingers in the ears on their way INTO the room! LOL Keep posting please.

    OMG .. I'm dying of laughter .. "Where's all my cougars at". I just found this tonight.. nice job on the rig. I was surprised to see you doing the bass bin so that the sound wouldn't kick back on the stage.

    Great setup bro. I just got 2 CDL12P for my karaoke setup at home, along with an 18 sub. So far, it sounds amazing. Do you also use a separate program to tune the CDL12P internally or leave it on default? Also, the inputs for CDL12P are from your outs of your subs? Thanks

    First, I want to say that I really like your videos. I did see the one in your shop.
    I also have CDL12P speakers. Two per side. I have two “pro X” lift stands that go up to 18’. They’re made for a truss, but I put my two on top using the hole on the bottom of the speaker. This works okay for just the two, but I, like you, want to add another speaker per side.
    I have the parts needed to hang the array, but have not found a way to attach them to the stand I have since it doesn’t allow for the speakers to hang in front of the stand. In other words, I got the wrong stands. They were $1600 each. Anyway…
    I too have the limit lights coming on on my speakers. I have tried to increase the output of the speakers so I need less “gas” on the mixer to get them as loud, but find it goes into limit anyway. I leave the outputs at 0. As long as limit is not steady, I pretty much ignore it as there is no degradation of the speaker signal coming out.
    What I would like to see is how you connect each speaker in your setup and get it up in the air.
    Again, great video!

      @lamarcobbs1  10 місяців тому

      I use my light stands for the pole mount option also. Idk how much weight I can put on my subs, so I rather not test it. Not yet at least til I find some info on that.
      I could do a video on how I fly them

    • @sound4uaudiovideorecording927

      @@lamarcobbs1 I would like to see a video on how you fly them.
      I have put both speakers on a pole in my sub per side. I don’t do this as much anymore since I’ve been putting them up higher in the air. High enough so that the bottom of the bottom speaker is aimed at the first row of audience. I can send sound quite the distance in this case. However, the top of the top speaker is going out into space, I’ve noticed. Kind of defeats the purpose. This is why I need to fly them from the fly grid. So then I can angle the top downward to get the top of the top speaker aimed at the rear of the audience which would require the trim height to be much higher. Constant curvature speakers are that way, though.

    Are you running full audio to the CDL12P. If you was to bi-amp and roll off the low going to them that would help the clipping. On the amp. Am am saving up to get 4 and I am going to run them 3 way with a sub and low mid then the CL12P on top should sound great!

    • @lamarcobbs1
      @lamarcobbs1  6 місяців тому

      I’ve figured them out. These are powered speakers though, so there isn’t a bi-amp option for my version of CDL12P. I have both a HPF from my mixer board and the HPF inside the speaker DSP initiated.

    • @lamarcobbs1
      @lamarcobbs1  2 місяці тому

      Yes I did. In each corner, there’s an L angle metal welded to the stage. I bolt 10 feet square tube poles to those. At the top of the poles are eye bolts. Just hook the shade panels to those with hooks or shackles

    Your clipping your inspiration signal not the amp if you back off the master on your board and turn the gain up on the speakers and try to hit limit before you hit clip

    Just Subscribed. Miami, FL - OK, so finally more of the music that I play as well as live sound (not taking anything away from The Sound Couple - love their videos). I was considering the Presonus CDL12p to start with as a line array. Overall do you have any regrets with them? I would be running a similar set up. I have 4 EV ETX 18P or I have 4 dual 18 passive subs for larger events.

    Friend, is the limit normal? it turns red on this speaker, it scares me

    • @lamarcobbs1
      @lamarcobbs1  10 місяців тому

      The red is the line signal. Think of that as the clip/distortion signal of any mixer.
      The yellow is the limit light for the amp. Meaning the amplifier has put out its max power at the time that light flashes.
      This speaker has a very sensitive line level (red). I’ve noticed that with these o run my mixer -7db less than with any other speaker. Also boosting the speakers at about +2db kinda even things out to where the limit and clip lights both flash at the same time

    • @lamarcobbs1
      @lamarcobbs1  10 місяців тому +1

      Yeah there’s a clip of it in the video. Next gig I will explain what I’ve noticed. The input signal has a low tolerance. Which causes the input signal to clip before the amp actually limits. My next experiment would be to run the speakers at +5db.

    Looks like your subs were constantly clipping, I assume that’s what the lights flashing on the front mean. Next time, try using 2 boxes per-side. No reason to reinforce sound waves to the ground.
