I like the penalty to death. I just don't want it to be as hardcore as a death in Tibia back in 2000 - 2010. Back then you would literally cry if you died, you lost a few dozen hours of gameplay/progress by a death.
agreed, it incentives you to group up and stay safe.
That made the game more immersive/realistic tho. You couldn't just walk around freely on enemy grounds
I personally don't like it at all. Imagine how infuriating must be to lose hours of progress because you lagged for a bit.
Playing Tibia back then was brutal! You literally spend hours & days to level up, then abit of lag comes along, or you get a internet kick, or you get PK'd and every progress made is lost in a blink of an eye haha! Good ol' days..(?) :P
@@denniskusuran6186 Dying actually mattered and you felt it, it was super fun, you'll never get that experience anywhere else.
It’s crazy how much the game feels like if a western studio made Archeage instead of a Korean one.
It's nice
LOOOOL @1:26 story of my life back in the day playing a thief/assassin class in Ragnarok Online trying to kill 1 thing. While mages/wiz etc just burn everything easily when farming lol.
NOT TRUE! Me with my swordman crying while a Increase Dodge and Double Attack thief kills everything T_T
Assassins are capable of AoE farming using Grimtooth.
And hunters would just spam Double Strafe to kill anything instantly
Muahahahahah
RO was one of the best games back in the day for me. inRO!
The Golden Saucer is the Fall Guys killer

FF14 is way better than this trash
Should just cover up asmon’s chat for AoC vids.
Edit: holy shit man it’s so bad, FF haters, Wow Haters, AoC Haters, and Lazy Peon haters are all competing to see who can be the most insufferable.
Honestly, whenever Asmon's reaction to an Ashes video gets posted, I pull up a timer to test how long would it take me to find the chat insufferable enough to cover it with a Notepad.
Took me 11 seconds in this video.
@@xXSinForLifeXx You haven't seen the anime community, it's PAIN
Just remove the chat from all vids IMO.
@@Kyle81290 Honestly yeah, it's like a cancerous tumour that ruins the whole thing.
@@zorinzorinzorin5243 Same, and that'd be good imo. I probably just binged too many clips lmao.
Im really excited for AOC, i wish them all the best for the game. I hope it comes out amazing
I think they should give the option for adding markers if you like having a visual marker for quests
@@ElvenMans Hoh, man. Sometimes we just like actually looking for them and acting like it's a proper world rather than following the next marker. To each their own.
Asmongold thinks that the tank class will do damage, silly asmon doesn't know theres gonna be a fighter class
In ashes tanks will do damage IF you combine it.
@@daddywolf4891 Ah, right thats a thing
@@daddywolf4891 Combine? Does this make both classes weaker then? Tank less tanky, fighter less fighty? So you end up with a semi tanky DPS that can be used as an offtank? Or does it like... beef up the tanks damage and it remains a solid tank, or... tanks up the fighter and it retains its original DPS?
I feel like it should just kinda mash the two together and make each not as good as they were but make a different thing. LIke a Warrior and a Fighter makes a Berzerker or something fun like that.
@@Kiba69420 you will be able to make an assassin tank or paladin tank or warrior tank or ranged tank what ever you want.
This demo only show you 1 class THE tank not combined with anything else
@@Kiba69420 how they described it would work is that you have your base class that doesn't change then i think at lvl 15 you get to pick a secondary that can augments your skills. from how it was described you don't get new skills but changes how the skill works. example a tanks charge can turn into a teleport.
6:35 FFXIV does the area quests too. both gathering and combat quests give a red circle of where it can be, and most times you have to leave the circle and return on the other side of a wall to find the last part of the quest.
I find it amusing when people read the "This isn't a content test" thing and then immediately critique the content.
Yeah, I watched the vid independent of this reaction, and that was the one thing that made me chuckle.
i mean.. the point of an alpha is literally to critique the content?
@@DustyyBoi Yes, but if the intent of the alpha is technical testing, then critiques on content are made, it's funny.
@@chavezmarchant2766 I suppose, but they'll need critique on the content at some point too, so people might as well give some, if they can't come up with any technical
@@DustyyBoi I agree with that!
It was just a funny side-by-side.
Peon starts off with 'this is a technical test', then goes on to give critique on content... for me personally, it would've been more pleasing if there was just a throw away line saying something like: 'this is a technical test, but because I can't come up with anything, here's my critique on the content'.
That would feel more honest to me, personally speaking.
Did lazypeon also level and story skip this game too?
@@xXSinForLifeXx No it's not, LazyPeon story and level skipped FF14, then reviewed it saying something about no content, boring, no story etc... Something like that. Can't remember but it caused a huge backlash against him.
@@xXSinForLifeXx It's an inside joke, he skipped FFXIV and bashed on the game, living up to his name, namely being a Peon and Lazy.
@@aaronclay4665 what are you mad about? that he didn't like FF14? or that said the game has no content? i think it is pretty obvious the game in the first 10/15h has no content, i mean everyone says that game starts getting good after Heavensward, i don't know if he did a review or first impression since it seems that the video was deleted but it doesn't change the fact that you need lvl 26 to start spamming 3 skills, everyone tells you that the starting of FF14 is boring both story and gameplay.
the story is so predictable that it basically doesn't exist in the beginning, let me ask you if you though thancred wasn't with gaius before the actual reveal? it was pretty obvious, and for me the voice acting is bad too.
i guess i don't need to talk about how boring the gameplay is until 50 right?
@@daroaminggnome Sounds to me like you're just repeating the same garbage anyone ever says about the game without actually playing it. Come back with a review when you're actually far into the game instead of the very beginning, or skip the entirety of the leveling process and game story like LP did and pretend your opinion still matters. If all you got out of it was "power of friendship" and "anime bullshit," perhaps you should stick with CoD or Fifa.
@@ElvenMans what is the point of grind in FF14, WoW, Runescape and GW? grinding is the word used by players that want something in the game, asmon likes to grind for transmog and mounts but what is the point to that? doesn't make you do more dmg, and what is the point of doing more dmg if you can do everything without the best gear, the people that do savage do you think they need the things the raids drop so that they can clear them? no they don't.
and i think albion is as fun as FF14, actually albion is funnier at the beginning, also albion and FF14 are completely different types of games, one is a story driven mmorpg the other is a hardcore pvp mmorpg.
you trying to say peon is wrong about his opinion on FF14 because he likes albion is just stupid.
I don't like how good the mounts look in Alpha.
Cash shop babyyyyyyyyy
I just hope it's not too easy to get all these mounts. I think very early Wow had it right, there were the baseline mounts and then a FEW hard to get special mounts. As the game progressed there became wayyy too many crazy / colorful / etc. mounts everywhere and it was too much. No mount was special anymore because everyone had some insane looking thing. Same with gear too, you want most gear to look nice but tame, then the really special stuff to actually look badass. That way it has some meaning when you achieve something
2:32 The NPCs do have an exclamation mark... on the minimap...
If you look at the minimap you will see a green circle with an exclamation mark in it.
Might as well just add it above their head then, if its already being indicated on the mini-map.
@@Raffalius might as well have an option to turn it on to comfort everyone leaving WoW, seems like they can't let some things go without being handheld.
@@cole9058 it isnt a wow thing tho? its a literally every other mmo thing, its just a weird design choice
@@cole9058 I've been a WoW player since tbc, so i'm used to not being handheld. But it's not about that, it's a matter of good game design vs bad game design. Me personally prefer games having a good game design over a bad one. 99% of all mmorpg's have been using an exclamation point above questgivers. I mean, questing in Ashes of Creation already seems more casual than WoW back in the days, at least you're being pointed in the right direction. WoW didn't have circles telling you where to go, you had to read them and try to figure it out. For a new player who didnt know the names of places, or mobs it would take a lot of exploring.
@@Raffalius Even Vanilla WoW was handholding. Original EverQuest was the no hand holding.
looks good hopefully they take all the feedback and add and subtract the for the good of the game.
Damn this looks amazing cant wait to get my hands on it
It has such a strong flavor of Lineage 2 and I love it.
Isn't LazyPeon the guy who literally did a Quin on FF14?
Could you explain what a quin is please?
whats a Quin?
Quin69 is one of the biggest Path of Exile streamers who found FF14 incredibly clunky, slow, boring and easy after giving it a try. I really don't like Quin's content and the only thing of his i could stomach was his Wolcen review. Regardless, I absolutely agree with his take on FF14. I'm glad for those who enjoy it but thinking FF14 it's a 10/10 universally well-liked video-game is a huge bubble that is gonna pop sooner or later for a lot of people.
FF14 is better than retail WoW, that's for sure but that only means the game isn't absolute hot-garbage. Some of y'all have extremely low expectations.
@@tukkek he found it easy after completely failing to play one of the easiest classes in the game and not properly responding to any mechanics.
it's true there is too much overpositivty and defensiveness from ff14 community who refuse to acknowledge anything close to a flaw, but quin is just bullshitting not pointing out real flaws.
@RaveSault If you check out his vid on FFXIV, he basically quit for the same reasons as Quin but didn't boost a character. He wasn't interested in getting into a narrative heavy MMO and the game wasn't for him. I love FFXIV, but I can understand how people find it hard to get into or can't get into and LazyPeon has plenty of other videos related to MMOs over the last decade or so that I'd mostly agree with. All that being said...Ashes of Creation looks pretty janky for a game that's supposed to release at the end of next month. Amazon-hosted servers mean no launch day catastrophes but this game shows so many red flags, I'd be wary of buying until after release.
i dont play any games asmon plays but watch just to laugh when he lets people know how ignorant they are in the most creative and condescending way he can muster.
Losing half your materials seems quite punishing, but if you also end up losing armor thats a bridge too far from me. It's way too easy these days to organize mass grief through discord. If they keep losing armor to one specific pvp zone and you only lose crafted materials in the real world, that's not too bad.
11:09 * laughs in Tibia *
8:00 100% this, draw distance is huge and underrated by a lot of ppl.
also love in new world how as your running by a forest if someone is up there nocking trees down you can hear the echo of them bashing that tree from a distance
aoc on losing items/xp
i think the best way to compare it is death in runescape, you only keep 3 items ( no xp loss ), or if skulled from attacking another player, 1 item max and thats if you used the correct spell to keep that item. i acutally think runescape has perfected the griefing balance in some ways, perhaps where they are short is the bounty for innocent kills that aoc offers.
It's such a terrible and flawed idea for a modern MMO. Discord voice chat changed video games forever. You just organize groups and grief players all day by creating a giant guild that will dominate the server. If they limit losing your armor to one area then ok but if it's anywhere in the world, this game will die quick.
Im just waiting for a streamer who is gonna go full on necromancer-
.
or a summoner
Smells like Nixiom 😁
50% drop rate on death feels generous for a sandbox. I doubt it'll go lower than than that. If you don't have gear and resource loss in the open world crafting will become less meaningful and the open world will become void of gathering competition. Resource competition is essential to ensure node territory is meaningful.
Quest indicators would ruin exploration and would make it less interesting to me. Just my opinion I feel freedom is what they are going for and player choice.
100%, I think the only reason Asmon says otherwise is due to the fact that he's only ever really played themepark mmos.
@@alexanderbousman1990 You know what your right I actually forgot about that.
The problem with Exclamations over quest givers heads is that it incetivizes you to just skip all their text to get the quest already
This game is gonna be big
AoC definitely has the nicest aesthetic and art style of any mmo
12:40 ITS SHROUD BABY.
I was lucky enough that one of the characters I lvled in classic was a warrior, so I made my own tank to combat this and it was a brilliant experience. 60-70 doing nothing but dungeons
the "general area" concept is a good compromise and is probably the easiest way for devs to approach these situations
Last time I was this early Asmon still had a full head of hair.
Despite having a generic look to it, the more I see of this game, the more interested I become.
How in the world does that look generic? It's an mmo on UE4 with turtles that cosmic gems in their shells :D
@@ozprey It's still a turtle, though, isn't it? It's like someone took a turtle and glued some sparkly gems on them. It's the Star Trek effect, where in a galaxy full of intelligent aliens all of them just look like humans with face paint and prosthetics. Same here in AoC. Those dragons? Seen 'em a million times before. The character models? Just different sized humans. The country side? Looks like it's from a rendition of medieval Europe. But in the end, the gameplay looks like it's shaping up to be really good, and that's what is increasing my interest.
In a game like this where the main progression isn't relient on quest, not having indicators for quest is better because finding quest become more like rewards for exploration over just mandatory task to be completed.
A quest giver could cast a some sort of spell to get your attention. It isn't much different than a ? above their head, but a bit more immersive.
I actually think that it's really great that character creation is super basic at this point. While it's relatively important, it not worth wasting time on instead of making he actual game fun to play fun to play first and make sure all of the more important game systems are working. Definitely a good sign.
Not having the ! over quests is kinda pointless. There will be wikis and people making guides or sharing where to find and how to get quests. It just makes it more tedious to get em.
I like world building and all that, but I hope you don't have to make it a second job just to make yourself powerful enough to compete.
2:55 quest markers are only good if you want to rush through bad content, but a good MMO in 2021 should NOT NEED quest markers anymore. It's supposed to be an adventure, and not a checklist. Quests should just HAPPEN. for example: explore the forest, find some person in danger, save them, and VOILA QUEST PROGRESS.
They could make an ingame interface option to turn quest giver icons on and off.
In early EQ I died once and lost 8 hours of experience so his loss didn't seem that bad to me
@@1un4cy We should not have 8 hours of loss no way. All games should be fun. However challenges can add some feeling of accomplishment. For me this adds a little spice if were talking about the journey and not the destination
Asmongold, there is no Fighter class yet, that's a TANK class, which is used for tanking. Of course a mage class, which is a DPS class will do more dmg. They will add a fighter class later on for dps. Wtf dude.
the races: 1. Human 2. Human 3. Human 4. Small human
I guess Asmon Felt the video to be a little blank with the stream Ak47s....
12:17 "Fresh meat"
I would love to see lazy peon's reaction after this huge blow in ffxiv
Huge blow in FF14?
Hype train! *choo choo!*
AoC looks like what I expected ESO to be
Holy Shit! Chris Wilson on Allcraft POGGERS
oh god I just wanted to click away the subtitles come on Asmon
yeah the melee combat has a long way to go imo ;O
Albion online had exclamations over the daily quest givers. . . It should be easy to set up here too.
A setting where we can choose the option for "!" On quest giver would be nice
maybe having the escalation-mark over quest givers a toggle in the options , as id prefer having them ;)
But would it be really optional then? If someone in your group or dungeon or raid isn't using that therefore progresses slower, most people would probably just kick them for intentionally restricting themselves. The current gaming culture evolves a lot around optimizing the fun out of a game if you let them. This is a decision that needs to be made by the devs not by the players.
No exclamations for quests, PLEASE!
Next we should have Asmon watch LazyPeon's FFXIV video. Oh, wait! It was such a bad take on the game, he deleted it!
Looks so much like Dragon Age.
The action combat looks like it could be good if they focused on it. They should just make it similar to eso I feel like it would be a good mix of action and tab.
they're promising everything to everyone which tbh should make you suspicious
What the, where's the COPIUM emote?
People who unironically use the word copium are the worst kind of people.
yes dud! remember grinding on L2 1.5% for hours to lose it in seconds :D well some penalty will be nice i agree but theres a thin line of making you angry or more focused
No question marks? What is everyones expecation here?
1 - Nothing, it's an RPG.. Go explore
2 - Question marks or some form of marker
3 - Questie
4 - Questie + RestedXp
Have it for main questlines and then the side quests should be findable
oh wow this game has change between action mode and tab mode ? so i can play like live-action playstyle , and tab game style ? this is kinda cool lol , the sad thing i have to wait at least year or more for the game QQ , i guess i will enjoy new world little until this game comes out
Chris Wilson is an episode I'll be interested in
Is it me or this looks like a dragon age MMO
After his comments, I really want to see his take on Star Citizen's degree of immersion.
you weren't playing a warrior, but a tonk. the warrior will have more dps, and less damage mitigation. So tonk/warrior, or warrior/tonk build?
"it took me like five minutes for me to find out this person is dead on the floor"
Took me like five weeks to realize mankirks wife was that.
The ELEVENTH Commandment!!! 😜
you only lose half your resources if you take the rez right away
Source?
@@Kipx99 just personal testing, i was wondering why my resources were disappearing because i died a few times, instead of waiting the 60 seconds i hit res then lost the resources, after that i wanted to wait the minute to see if it took them and it didnt so now i just wait and havent had any of my resources disappear since i starting doing that
might be a bug might not but i know my stuff dont disappear now lol =D
view distance makes the world large
They really should go the same route as New World as far as harvesting resources. One of the only reasons I love NW is the gathering/crafting is rally enjoyable. There's something relaxing about chopping down every tree in an area, especially when it feels like you are really hitting it and it sounds real :)
gonna pass on this one. good luck
! above heads ruins emersion for me, coming across a random in an elderscrolls game that had a quest was always cool and givve it that unpredictability
For compromise, I think it will be good if the ! only pops up when you are near that random NPC and disappear when far away.
Lets hope the sweaty min/max generation of mmos wont destroy this game with their rushing.
They will if the devs let them. They also would destroy FF14 and make it way more toxic if SE wouldn't do anything about it.
3:02 Hear me, Hear me! The lord! The lord the Jehovah! Has give on to you these 15...*crash*...10 commandments!
i think this game will win
@ Asmon you played a tank. Warriors aka Fighters are not playable yet. But yeah i think tank feels kinda weak atm.
How's Asmon looks so healthy, given what he eats, drinks and sits all day in front of a computer, I cannot comprehend bud good for him I guess
Your body tells you what it needs to prosper, in Asmon’s case its videogames, videos and junk food.
It fuels him.
FFXIV
his eyebrows r alive
Bring on the hang gliders.
Escanor liked this video.
I don't like wands. I think if you spend your whole mana, then you done goofed up and should suffer with melee combat
So i guess this might be a MMORPG sandbox that will be good
Even though the style of FF never attracted me, I was absolutely positively surprised by the game. It's incredibly fun and I don't miss a minute of it. but it still feels a bit like you're living in some kind of glittery world. there's absolutely nothing wrong with that and maybe it's just me.
But Ashes of Creation looks so epic and to be this far into an alpha tells me they mean business. And that gives me confidence and that's why I think Ashes will be my next big MMO. Even though it won't knock FF14 or WoW off their thrones. But that doesn't matter ;)
I felt like this took forever on the stream. It's just something about lazy peon that just feels like listening to a video game journalist... which I guess he is
I really can't find this game appealing at all. Watched the stream of him playing it, and I could find 0 reason to play this game, and I am a big mmo junky. I really hope it becomes actually fun when it launches.
@GroovyTankMain420 yeah, but everyone of these content creators are saying the game looks amazing!while its nothing like a game at all. Its a basic mmo demo fodder. And they are like omg the world is so big but the world was small as fuck even 6x bigger than this is not comparable with likes of wow or ff!
So many cretins in chat, "500 dollars bro", "Kappa", "COPIUM" etc. I wonder if they realise what they are doing to the game AND themselves for no reason. Feel bad for asmon to have to deal with that degeneracy. Sure being way too optimistic creates high expectations which isn't good for the game, but being so negative isn't either and on top of that it creates a toxic environment which hurts not only the game and people who are going to play it, but the genre and asmons stream too. Sad.
so Asmon did the "can warriors do this" test and found out warriors couldn't do it. mage aoe farming is the most effective.... where have I heard that before?
Asmon forgot that he was playing a tank, not a warrior this entire time XD
i just hope they improve the combat system
what if they just change questgiver names to gold instead of green
I know little about ashes but it seems that once the world get built the idea of city getting built will be pointless and the whole mayor thing will be dominated by the biggest guilds or personalities such as asmon. these systems seem good on paper but the moment you think about it for a second you realize they kind of suck
Ark probably tops the Harvestable objects game
the penalty to death can get annoying REAL quick. like excuse me this is a GAME for FUN...if i want to have death penalty, real life exists...
This games gives me ArcheAge feels in all the right ways.
Wish this game add gliders , one of the most fun shit from archeage
There will be gliding mounts
This game looks like new world, but fun. I quit the alpha test lol
I'm surprised he haven't played Black Desert yet
he has
I read it as "Lazy Pelon" haha
