Michelle Dockery's real accent sounds completely different than Lady Mary's 😱 Wasn't expecting that 😂
It was a complete surprise for this American to hear Michelle Dockery compared to Lady Mary.

Her entire voice is different. Her natural voice has a much higher pitch.
She is from Essex 😪.. but she doesn't really sound like it, she sounds more Estuary I think.
@@bunny_smith there are other interviews, this one has audio problem or they speed it up so their voice are all higher pitch
It is weird to listen to their real accents vs their characters’ , except for sybil who doesn’t sound different :)

@@SamanthaN92 I like Mary's voice. Sounds like velvet. She is actually quite caring. She takes care of the staff. William, Ana, Bates, etc. She visits them when they are ill.
@@Paola-jf2qf Yes I know👍 Mary can be an angel but then completely evil the next 😂 She has two sides to herself. I think once the movie came out, she finally lightened up a bit.
@@Paola-jf2qf It's great that she may be strict and demanding and be the lady of the house, but still caring for her people and treating them like actuall other people, than some slaves
Michelle Dockery also does a very convincing southern/texas accent in the American western series Godless. Such a talent
What kept me interested and Really loving Downton Abbey was the character arc of the Sisters Crawley. Over time they developed into their wake. Lady Edith became this modern business woman, nee' business owner. While Lady Mary became the keeper of the keys to Downton. She (alongside her brother-in-law Tom Branson) ran the estate and partnered with the local farmers to keep the estate going. Granted she died very early in the series, Lady Sybil was the first of the Crawley daughters to pave her own way. She enjoyed and appreciated her work as a nurse during WWI and channeled that into a career up till the day of her death. It's their stories that kept me intrigued throughout the entire series. (And why I keep coming back for more!!)

In my opinion, the Crawley sisters' character developments were amazing! Mary and Edith's relationship improved a bit better after Sybil's death. And I'm so glad Edith and Mary found love again!

They really worked on their posh accents in the series. It's very strange tto hear them speaking in their natural accent and voice.

@@christina.v. absolutely. You can tell esp you listen to Jessica, who has naturally low, husky voice..
This seems to be a very old behind the scenes clip since they’re all dressed in Season 1 costumes (and Jessica is still being interviewed). The first season was released in 2010 so this is about 10-11 years ago. They would’ve been in their late twenties so much younger.

It's interesting how appropriate the sisters' names are to their personalities:
Mary - bitterness; beloved (stubborn, single-minded, jealous. Her family values her most and goes out of their way to cover up her mistakes and help her succeed)
Edith - prosperous in strife (she's the middle child, always ignored, unlucky in love, yet had the best ending and became the highest ranking amongst her family)
Sybil - oracle (forward-thinking. Died because of the negligence of a male figure as in the oracle Sybil of Greek myth)
They sound super high pitched like Minnie Mouse. Their voices are not like this in other interviews.
This could also be because they were younger.
A woman’s voice doesn’t change like that.

Most likely! If you listen to other interviews, they sound much lower. Same as in other roles.

This is a behind the scenes for season 2, correct? I wish that info was included in the description somewhere because it's hard to understand how the characters are changing if we don't know where in the timeline the episodes being discussed are meant to take place.

I've always known Laura's and Michelle's accents were nothing like their characters, but here it seems like they sound even younger and more girlish than their characters.
All of them I adore, but although Mary took my heart of my chest, it's Lady Edith who I absolutely love and have crush on 🤍❤
