Ahh, were it only the case that my voice extended so down low as to rumble the very firmaments, hah! Your review of the sE V7 and V7x were what ultimately helped me decide to get the non-x vocal variant since I felt that would better suit my voice and use case. Very much appreciate all the work you put into these videos, and I do actually think the very stream-of-thought, casual presentation, concise without a thousand jump cuts and transitions, does make these more of a fun listen. Cheers!

I think the popularity of the sm57 is from the live stage, where it is quite effective to exclude bleed and therefore makes it quick to use on a busy stage (less eq needed in a changeover etc.). I agree it has limited use in a studio where You have the time to shape the sound. Thanks for great content.

The SM57 sounds so good, even on vocals. There's a reason why people buy them.

SM57 is loved exactly for that spiky thing - it will always cut through a busy mix, never muddy... sadly they make them in China now, and to my experience quality has degraded since. So cherish your Mexican 57's 😅!

    Nice. Thanks.
A guitar through a cab is usually about 150-5000 Hz, so the openness of the 57 often suits it, while the proximity adds more body. So in this test, and Indeed on your voice, it’s not very convincing, but on a cab it’s often pretty good.
Still, a lot of better microphone are out there..

I think people are too much nitpicking. You cant go wrong with any of them.

... but they are very different. Say you wanted to mic a double bass or piano, you'd have no joy with the 57.

@@AntonBrowne Ah, sorry. My view is view of typical person, who only wants to record voice.
