TC Electronic released the Delay Modes/Toneprints from the Alter Ego V1 and V2 for all FlashBack delay pedal models, if you go to the Toneprint editor these delay sounds/tonepints are listed under Andy Martin.
I've had the Alter Ego for quite a while. Thanks to your playing I also have had the Matthews Effects Astronomer for some years as well. Those two together do some great stuff!
One of my favorite pedals of all time! So many awesome sounds! My humble opinion, but a deep cut patch that doesn’t get enough love on here is the CKAT 🔥 Great demo as always Roman
My favs are a toss up between the AE X4 and the Empress Vintage Modified Super Delay. The Empress is on my board at the moment but I’m thinking about making room for both of them. Great demo.
I was pretty ignorant on either TC Alter Ego til I started following Shnobel. I'm not a big delay guy. I have an early version of the Subdecay Echo Box in my signal but lately I find myself looking for a nice price on an x4. I kind of dig the creative way TC kept a tap tempo while keeping the pedal real estate small. Them Danes continue to innovate. 🤘🏼
You CAN set the tempo..hold the foot switch down, the guitar will be muted, scratch the tempo on the strings 2-3 times..my fav tempo is a triplet to the beat..I’ve had many delays..for sound, foot print and setting a tempo, this is a fantastic pedal..I’ll never get rid of it
This is a very nice delay. I got even two X4 alter ego delays, (one for my live pedalboard and one for my bigger board) because they work so well live. I just wish that you could save more than 3 presets on the AEX4 by going to another bank or something… A modulation depth control would make it the ultimate delay in my opinion. Perhaps Tc would listen and come up with the Ego deluxe or something 😉🎵🎶🎸
Hello, I have TonePrint installed on my cell phone, but I can't find the ones that correspond to this pedal. I saw some inside the Plethora but I don't know if they are for the AlterEgo x 4 or if they are for this one. Can you tell me if I have to download them from somewhere in particular? Thanks
One of the best delays! I have the V2 on my board and had its bigger brother the X4 first. Too big for me. I like the V2. I do hate that you have to hold the button and strum. Such a pain for live playing.
Love the new strat man! You always make them sing! Also have you ever done any mods to a Dan electro spring king? Specifically the delay you hear on the reverb.
@@shnobeltone well the units have a slap back delay in unit with the reverb. I’ve seen someone actually separate the 2 where they have knobs for the delay and time!
Please note that this is not a criticism of this UA-cam channel, just something we decided it's fair to point out to the community of UA-camrs and players, after an extremely (and uniquely) negative personal experience we recently had with staff from the Behringer conglomerate. Our opinion is that Music Tribe/Behringer, a multi-billion company, adopts opportunistic and at times also borderline exploitative strategies in order to maximize its profits. That's their priority, and there's nothing wrong with prioritizing profits. Unfortunately, though, they take this business approach to extremes that sometimes conflict with ethics; no other major company in the musical instrument industry behaves the way they do. From our experience, it regularly tries to get free exposure from UA-camrs without paying them; it's public knowledge that it has sued people for expressing their opinions about its products and publicly mocked journalists who criticize them; it also produced a borderline chauvinistic video ad at some point, just to mention a few notable things. At the peak of the pandemic, when gear builders were selling 3 to 5 times as much as in a normal year while promoters like us were seeing their earnings collapse, their TC staff tried to get us to do some promo for them "without a budget." Please note that while we cover all pedals on our blog without asking for money and we sometimes even do promotions without a budget for small, emerging brands, we don't think any multi-billion dollar company should ask anyone to work for free, ever. This personal experience, added to the many examples of morally questionable behavior highlighted in the video below, motivated us to post comments like this one on every new video highlighting TC products we stumble upon, in the hopes that this negative publicity will make the company change their behavior. ua-cam.com/video/p5RSIWbZ6Vc/v-deo.html
Great video Roman. I love my TC Flashback v1. Nothing wrong with it. I've even let go of a Belle epoch deluxe, Carbon copy and Hx stomp and axe fx 2, mainly to fund other endeavors, but the TC does what I need. Do you swap the pickups out in your EJs? I find them kind of dark in my EJ. Thanks
The modulation on almost all of the settings on this pedal is way too much and sometimes unusable. Only the Echoplex and the space echo are well judged. The X4 is the same way
That is actually very true, a few of the setting do have too much modulation, I like the BDM2 setting is great as well with no modulation, but the Echoplex and the Echorec 2 alone is worth it for this pedal, no pedal is perfect but if you can get one or at least two really good sounds then its worth it in my opinion
Why the fuck did they not make a proper tap tempo switch?? I think the pedal looks shit to be honest but it sounds amazing. I think they could’ve made a little more effort with the graphic design.
Well played 007.
NICE! Could not put my finger on it- you nailed it!
ughh a classic Shnobel delay video soooo needed, missed this
Thank you!
With you there Mike, I've been rewatching tonnes of his old delay vids recently.

Oh thats great to know, I will be making more videos about them on my Plethora X5
I have used the alter ego for about 7 years now and I always come back to it. I’ve been thinking of getting an extra one. Maybe I’ll get a V2
I've had the Alter Ego for quite a while. Thanks to your playing I also have had the Matthews Effects Astronomer for some years as well. Those two together do some great stuff!
10yrs and mine is still working perfectly
Terrific demo. I’ve been tempted by a used one on eBay, but after hearing that, I’m going to pull the trigger. Thanks very much.

I bought this pedal because of the Copikat, Daniel Ash used that delay/echo device in the early recordings with Bauhaus
It really is a special pedal. Thanks Roman
Thank you!
Beautiful playing man

We all have 2:22 moments from time to time 😅 great video BTW, if this one is good enough for Paul Gilbert is good enough for me
Haha, yeah I forgot to edit that out :)
Digital delays sure are wiping the floor with analog delays now, but the self-oscillation isn't always right, I wish more demos would go into that
Toneprint technology for delay is amazing. They should do an unit with display where you can save your presets...
Plethora x3
@@chrisfit oh yes, I totally forgot it! 😂
Or the X5 as well :)

Do you remember what toneprint you used at the end, sounds good
Great tone & playing, Roman! (as usual! 😬)
Thank you!
Thanks for the video!

Do you know if the Alter Ego in the Plethora X5 is the V1 or the V2?
I will have to do a comparison and maybe make a video about it
I didn't realize Daniel Craig was also a guitar UA-camr.
😂
@@macc213 Just realized how appropriate my comment was given the pedal. Alter Ego heh heh. Thanks for the laughs!
What Strat are you playing I like the PU

oh
What about the V1? Any good?
I have one... is my favorite, the best...
Hmm… is there a software update for the X4 V1?
Not that I know of, I will take a look at TC's website to see if there is anything that they released for the X4
How can you not love echo/delay? Sounds amazing, great demo and playing!
My favorite effect, thank you!

You kind of look like that Daniel Craig guy
Thanks, I have had a few people tell me that, and also they said Jeremey Renner the Hawk Eye Guy :)

The colors and graphics are a nod to the Tel Ray [Super?] Organ Tone unit that is modeled in the “T ORG” setting.
