Echoplex vs Space Echo vs Flashback 2 Delay

- Lars and Kasper Falkenberg team up to compare three types of tape delay: the Roland Space Echo RE-201, the Echoplex EP-3 and the TAPE setting on our very own Flashback 2 Delay.
We know, we are comparing apples to oranges, but we had a lot of fun!
Flashback 2 Delay is available here:

Guys the reason its so dark is that you need a buffer before you go into the tape echo :) I do this everytime i use my space echo and it really brings all that lovely treble back. Great video as usual tho!
Excellent side by side review guys. I've used Roland Space and Echoplex over the years (since the 70s) as a Sax man, as well as many other digital delays including the TC Helicon and Danelectro Reel Echo, DOD and Boss delays (I stick with the TC now because it has XLR). Maybe some day you could consider comparing the WEM Copicat alongside the Echoplex and Roland ... each being very unique in their function and results. Thanks to you both. I still have my noisy 70s Copicat! Your tech dialogue, running commentary and, discussion of tone are really interesting.
great videos and fantastic guitar playing
Nice work guys. Could you please tell me what were the settings on the Spark Booster? Thanks in advance.
Some cool sounds, cant beat an old fashioned tape delay machine. Great video guys!
Great demo!! What guitar are you using?
It must be tough to step in Tore’s footsteps but you guys are doing a great job! Very interesting, informative and laid back. I hope that we get to see and hear more from the both of you on this channel soon!
Thanks, man. Nobody will ever be able to replace Tore but I enjoy so much working with Lars as well. I think you guys should show him some love!
Big Rock Tore now works for Universal Audio.
Loving the space echo
Can I use the editor to get these sounds out of a Flashback mini?
Of course
i love it!
please more content like this
Will do!
TC Electronic CANT WAIT! Awesome 👏
Daniel and Mike from That Pedal Show used a buffer with the Roland Space Echo RE-201 . It helped with the treble and the volume. ua-cam.com/video/a89AIAk6Vmw/v-deo.html
This is so damn cool
GREAT ... GReat .... Great ..... great
TC needs to have an independent volume control for the MASH function. Other than that the Flashback 2 is fantastic.
I think you can edit the volume of the MASH in the tone print software, but yeah for sure a lot of the MASHes are stupidly loud for some reason.
Just sold my RE-201 and with the proceeds was able to replace it with arguably the best digital delay on the market plus 5 other essential pedals for my board. Absolute no-brainer deal....
What is the best digital delay you talk about?
@@kalkidasofficial yeah! what did you get?!
You just got more for your money. All of the pedals these days have there plus and minus features. It is all about what you are looking for.
Echocord, echocord, echocord! Not just as a seagull stand....
Well spotted!
Keep it up! More drugs on the channel please
Haha I thought that too... jeeesus Lars....
Love TCElectronic delays but man the tape echos cant be replicated. There's something in these tape echos which is magical. Lot of air in it which can't be obtain with the digital delays.
Strymon Volante has entered the Chat.
Belle Epoch Deluxe is the last word in digital Echoplex emulation. it's literally the exact same analog signal path of an EP-3, even the higher voltage, so there's no way to get it closer to the real thing.
@@hoover728 I own it and yes it's great but I also love my flashback 2. It's seriously close to nailing it and way way way more versatile (although I seriously adore the Belle epoch too!)
@@alexmurphy5289 Which Toneprint do you find the closest to the Belle Epoch Deluxe?
What's the signal chain here?
Guitar---Looper---Amp?
loop1: Spark, Flashback
loop2: EP-3
loop3: RE-201
If so this comparison is kinda messed up.
Next time please go:
Guitar---Buffer/Always on Boost---Looper---Amp
We came to hear the echos and not all the cables or the boost (which you use with flashback only).
Thank you.
** Or the looper is buffered? **
Jeez, lighten up.
They specifically said they put the booster only with the Flashback to match the darkness and saturation that the tape echo circuits impart to the dry signal.
Dude that guitar thoooooooooooooo
It's a Baum Conquer 59 - www.baumguitars.com/conquer-59/ . It's so cool!

Jeppe Garfunkel I looked, saw the price and closed the tab quickly before I started doing some math. It’s a bit special!
Cool stuff but awkward interaction or something...
Where is Tor. These vids are just not as good
@@eft250 Thanks I thought I had read that somewhere but wasn't sure.
