This is the best demo of this pedal I’ve seen, and I’ve a watched a lot. It’s one of the only ones I’ve seen that simply explains the secondary functions. Most don’t even bother. Well done Ryan.
Yeah, that setting sounds a lot like the earthquaker dispatch master. Which I love. The sheer amount of tweakability of this pedal is just inspiration waiting to happen!
Reverb pedals have always been my favorite pedals. This one however made me want to sell all my other reverb pedals. The BEST reverb pedal I have ever used. Worth every penny.
@@nathanjmartin19 i prefer this over both boss reverbs I've owned, frv1 and rv6 . I bought this for the fender spring emulator (which is awesome) and was amazed at what else was in it. Depending on which amp I'm using, I am often surprisingly drawn to MOD, the orange setting has chorus, flanger and reverb, and i love it. This is the only reverb that I still have.
at 19:45 where you punched in the mode button on the trem....oh. What a beautiful function. Between that, the Reverse, and Shimmer....worth it right there. Thank you for the thorough demo.
Ryan, I think I can speak for a lot of viewers by thanking you to examine all the different pedals out there and helping each of us finding the most suitable pedal. I was torn apart choosing between HOF2, Fender Marine Layer and this Oceans 11. Your videos helped me making up my mind and choosing the 11, muchos gracias.
Never cared much for the one knob Holy Grail reverb. EHX nailed it with this one! The spring reverb and the trem alone are so great I think they justify the price tag. Thanks for this demo.
Yeah this shim is the best I've heard, keeps the tone and is REALLY good with swells. I have a mooer shimverb and it doesnt even compare to the shim on the Oceans 11
@@novi493 I almost got the mooer, but I got this, then I wondered if the mooer was also good, because their black secret and blue crab are great. Thank you for putting my doubt at ease! Cheers.

When you crank the FX LVL to 11, it almost sounds as the full wet is exactly that - like a dry kill. Does it effectively become a dry kill, or is it just my ears? That would be a one hell of a bonus.
I have this, the Hall of fame and the TC Trinity and this one is probably my favorite. I've tried all three up front at the end of my chain and in the loop with different results. It depends on your playing style, your amps and the music you play, as well as how you perceive sound. All my amps have loops, so I tend to keep these effects in the loop, but you won't be disappointed up front. Some EHX pedals can be a bit noisy, but not this one.
Hey man! Great video. I have a question: did you connect the pedal to a normal 9DV PSU or to the EHX 9.6V one? I need to know if it would cause any problems powering it with any other supply. Thanks!
so in this video the pedal was connected to a voo doo labs mondo 9v out :) I don't think youll get any problems using a standard 9v output or psu.. just make sure the polarity is correct and the mA isnt too low on the power supply you use :)
@@RyanLutton I'm still trying to shift through the different modes. Right now I've been zeroed in on "Hall". This is my personal favorite reverb and I feel that the RV-6 just has a better sound in that category. But I'm not ready to give up on the EHX. It has a lot to offer.
Hi guys, sorry for the ignorance: I want to buy this Oceans 11 however I notice some presets similar than TC Electronic Flashback (Reverse, delays, Shimmer etc). I thougth this Oceans was more a Reverb. Would it be a redundance to have delay and this particular reverb on my pedalboard? Which is the added value?
Hi Steve, I've been reverb shopping for at least a month now. For the price point IMHO, the Oceans 11 is in the forefront of mono. HOF2 fell out of the running early on listening to many comparison videos. It sounds just a bit tinny to my ears. There's a richness in the oceans 11 hard to describe. I may go for the Neunaber immerse, which I think sounds better and has stereo I/O, but a few more bucks. I'm trying to keep under $225. For lower price, the Marshall reflector stood out to me. Of course for $300+ Strymon big sky is amazing and it's competitors. Have fun!
Thiago Gomes depends on preference. I think the EHX is easier to read and has a good spring reverb but the Walrus is probably stereo while the EHX isn't
I was pretty sold on this pedal but I have read that the pedal itself feels too light and not sturdy enough, and that there is something weird going on with the buffer sucking a lot of tone out as well as there being some weird separation between what you play and the reverb. Has anyone tried it and can confirm/debunk this stuff? I am going to try the pedal before buying it, but reliability and the overall construction can only be tested with use and not in the store.
I own this pedal and it is as sturdy as any other EHX pedals of this size. It doesn't suck the tone out. In fact, it leaves my tone intact when in bypass mode. The low end is there and there's no volume drop unlike with my Crayon overdrive, which is weird because it is supposed to be true bypass if I recall correctly. As for the "separation" you mentionned, I'm not quite sure if you're referring to the wet/dry but yes sometimes it can feel a bit too wet but playing with the tone and fx knobs can help achieve a better tone. I found that I can't always have the fx and tone at a specific spot for each reverb types. For example, shim reverb with the tone knob cranked up to the high end is painful to hear but reverse reverb/delay with the tone all cut is also not as powerful as it could be with the tone halfway -3 o'clock.
@@responsesMTL Thanks for the response man, that makes me a bit more comfortable when thinking about buying the pedal (plus, I've heard it's sold really well, and I have seen just 2 or 3 people online with faulty units) The one flaw that scares me the most is one where your mode button would stop working after a couple months, but again, just 1 or 2 people reported that. When it comes to the tones, I'll have to try it out in store. My problem is that there is no other pedal that offers multiple reverbs and delay (with tap tempo) in the same price bracket as the Ehx, so if I didn't like it I would probably just buy a Boss DD7 or a Digitech Obscura and be done with it. Thanks again
