  • @aaantonioduarte

    EHX does so many interesting pedals that go unappreciated. It's so cool that they keep pushing the envelope with releases that are probably very risky from a business standpoint. For example, EHX has a pedal where you can program expression on an 8-step sequencer that follows MIDI clock or tap-tempo, with beat subdivisions. It's called 8-Step Program. It's niche, I know, but c'mon: an expression sequencer on a pedal. They could just keep re-packaging the same fuzz circuits over and over again but they've out there making sequencer pedals.
    Another example: the Tri-Parallel Mixer. If people gave 2 minutes of their time to understand what this pedal does, they would realize that the Tri-Parallel Mixer can open up so many possibilities on their pedal boards. And there's plenty more. I don't see any other brand pushing this much the limits of what can go on a guitar pedal.

    • @carstenmuller9938

    • @drpibisback7680
      @drpibisback7680 3 роки тому +3

      They do still sell the same fuzz circuit a lot. The Big Muff and all its variants (and some of their other less obvious but still popular works like the Memory Man) are likely what make all their niche pedals financially viable.

      Tri-Parallel Mixer was 100% my idea. Which is fine -- I LOVE EHX and Mike Matthews is a hero! EHX posted on their social media once asking what kind of unique new pedal you would want made if it were entirely up to you. And literally like 2-3 weeks later or something out came the Tri-Parallel Mixer, which was 90% of the feature-set I posted in the comments, lol. Again, totally don't care though, and if I hadn't suggested it I'm sure they would've come up with it anyway. EHX is magic and Matthews is a grand wizard!

    Their OD Glove is my favorite guitar distortion, it has a good range of light to moderate distortion instead of going from barely on to tone and chord killing noise if the gain/drive is over 1/3 like so many pedals. Works as a booster pedal too.

      @politicus56 Рік тому +1

      Love this pedal. Lots of sounds in there....low to High gain. Good useful tone control as well. Love the internal voltage switch as well as the mids switch on the top. I hear it's a clone of the OCD. I haven't ever played an OCD (though I love most of the Fulltone stuff), but if that's so, this one sounds great at half the price. If I had to, I could use this for all my OD sounds.

      @@emmemmemm2360 Boss are legendary now maybe, but considering EHX's longer history, wider array of pedals they make, and frankly more iconic stuff I think EHX is in a whole 'nother level. Boss is legendary because its probably the first pedal everyone bought, and for all the standard fare, there's a Boss pedal and it'll get the job done. But there's really no Boss equivalent to the Big Muff or Memory Man.

    I picked up the Attack Decay reissue a few months ago and absolutely love it, definitely a versatile pedal and I've really only scratched the surface of what it can do. One thing I've found it extremely useful for is as a makeshift noise gate, I'll put a fuzz and distortion in the send/return, and even with both on and dimed, and no signal above the sensitivity threshold, it's dead quiet. Another fun trick is rolling back the decay and using it for controlled feedback, or rolling off the decay altogether for a nasty, zero sustain, percussive sound. I can't imagine many guitarists would be tripping over themselves for that "tone", but it's there if you need it, and may be exactly what's called for in a specific situation. Anyway, big fan of some of the less conventional EHX pedals, and other than the Attack Decay, own their Frequency Analyzer, Flanger Hoax, Stereo Memory Man With Hazarai (x2), Cock Fight (don't really care for the talk wah, but love the fuzz side of the pedal), and recently snagged a Tri Parallel Mixer.

    I was sooooo nervous you would cover the two ehx pedals I have that, in combination with a few more in a very specific order, are absolute must haves for my to die for sound that took literally 35 years to find. Thank you for not touching on those :) Also, Nick's drumming and your playing go really well together. Every time you said "underrated" I thought "Yeah, Nick's slick grooves, though simple, are b*tchn and should be pointed out more". In fact, you two should start a channel that's just you jamming little riffs on random pedals, no talking, no plot, just you two laying down far field space cadet whatever comes to your minds 100% free form concept stuff. Just do that, don't think about it, just do it. I won't de-friend you if you don't, I can't as we're not friends, but I will refuse to friend you and that is worse, much worse, it'll haunt you day and night and especially on holidays. Do it.
