Not exactly the demo I was expecting to see/hear. It was a little subdued. I was hoping to hear the drippy surf sounds of spring reverb, but was a little disappointed, however I did hear a couple of "drips" there at the end, so I have a pretty good idea of what this pedal can do. I'll be getting one soon.

I really dig the shimmer reverb with tone turned down, it is so ... big, like sky and has that haunting and charming voice behind, so awesome and so is your playing! I really dig what you play.

Thanks man, this really helped me decide in which pedal to get and i'm now very excited to receive it tomorrow. I write a mixture of melodic clean and prog/alt rock so really can't wait to get my hands on this!
For everyone else I was torn between Digitech's Polara and TC Electronic's Hall of Fame. I didn't really considsr this pedal until thinking about dial usability/visibility, expression input and general reliability (the delay is a bonus) so after a bit more research (all within the £105-125 mark) i ended up with the RV6.
Will give as much feedback as poss! Can't wait!
I think I'm gonna get me one of these! Sweet choice of chords, btw. And I thought it was just a Spring/Hall/Plate verb pedal...the Shimmer and Modulate sounds made my blood run cold...GREAT tones...Thank You!

Love all your videos, man. You really let us hear what these pedals can do. I notice here after comparing to you DigiTech Polara video that the RV-6 spring is more of a modulation than a slapback or drip. It kinda "warbles" for lack of a better term. I had the RV-5 or maybe one more gen before that, and I could never get it to sound properly springy. Think I'll be going with the Polara this time. Thanks again! And great playing BTW

This honestly sounds better to my ears than many other units that cost over 3x as much. It is really really transparent and natural sounding, without lots of those artificial artifacts that the others introduce.
... I love so much this pedal, I will never ever stop to use it ...

thank you, Ryan, my favorite setting is the modulation ... :) ... but I think that every setting has its own charm, practically you can find a nice tone in every setting ... since I bought it there is no concert where I play and not to have my RV-6 with me either using electric or an acoustic guitar - and to complete the tone arsenal I also bought an analog compressor from DOD - 280 - together they sound like a dream and I can replicate guitar tones as they were made in the 60' s studios like those from The Shadows or The Ventures ! ... cheers from Transylvania !... :)

I was surprised when you altered the delay cycle time because your notes as to knob functions for +Delay did not include that. The correspondence between the knob setting and delay length was hard to make out because your hand was in the way.
The adjustable delay period makes this pedal significantly more appealing to me. Thanks for this demo!
Great demo! A comparison of different pedals with shimmer effect would be useful! But the way The Edge uses it: With a signal splitter, two amps and a volume pedal in front of the shimmer.

Great demo! Just to check, when using the expression pedal, does the reverb tail decay naturally as it would with the toe position settings when you move it back to heel? or does it die off as you move to the heel position? I hope that made sense haha. Cheers.
In the +delay mode time controls the speed of delay, not reverb length..

Boss is great, but consider the Digitech iStomp. It is a great pedal, in fact it can be over 40 different pedals via a iPhone interface! As this came out about 10 years ago, you need a (genuine) 30 pin to Lightening interface, but it has so many sweet Lexicon and other reverbs, plus many classic stompbox models from the archives of DOD and Digitech!

Hey Ryan! Could you explain the signal chain here?
I've just got an RV6 and for me the Reverb doesn't process in stereo, say for instance you have a left and right input, the stereo field is maintained on the dry signal, but the reverb happens to fall in the center of the stereo field - your demo it appears stereo?

sure :) the signal chain in this would have been Guitar (Ibanez ART320) > possibly a boss tu3 > boss rv-6 > focusrite saffire pro 40 then into some amp sim, I'm not sure what I was using.. Interesting! the demo might sound different as the pedal is splitting the signal rather than having a stereo signal inputted, however I wouldn't have thought this would change things drastically (as the pedal is designed to output stereo either way), does your previous stereo signal come through normally with the reverb on? just the reverb that has this problem? If anyone else who is a boss expert sees this please chime in :)
@@RyanLutton yeh so basically with mono input the reverb is concentrated in middle of the stereo field with stereo outs..
When using stereo inputs, the dry signal does what you'd expect, but the reverb is still concentrated in the middle of the stereo field - which it sounds like in every demo but this once so just wondered if there was a secret?!
haha! I'm not sure, I mean the only other bit of info would be, I hard pan L and R in every stereo demo I post. This video would be mono in > stereo out > hard panned in the DAW.. so the stereo image is very obvious, I cant think of anything else that might be different to the other demos out there

Now the Tonality on "Shimmer" is more like it..however it would be nice to brighten up the tone on your amp and guitar to allow these settings to have more beautiful sounds also it seems like Telecasters or GL guitars sound the cleanest when demoing?

Anyone know if you can use the expression pedal to alternate between an already wet signal with an even wetter signal? Or is it just dry to wet?

Are you plugged into the front of the amp or going through an effects loop. My favorite settings are the spring reverb and shimmer. I think that's about the best sounding pedal reverb I've heard yet. Why doncha send me one?
