Hey guys. I found little Tommy. You can see he was a off-road enthusiast from the very beginning. ua-cam.com/video/h25YsUwe3I4/v-deo.html
Can we race that RC car against the tax and Tacoma
Proves that even back then, TFL was creative. But Tommy, crashing on a rock? :O If that had been a Tesla, I would understand. But it was not. lol
Why would you try to lock the gas cap with the remote control?
Thanks Tommy, the seats fold flat if you remove the head rests. Also the gas cap is held by the clip on the door.
Yup just what I was saying about the gas cap. Also the two holes in the folded up seats are for the headrests while the seats are folded down.
@@jasonstacotrail4823
i think you are just supposed to stomp the seat backs. gotta climb in, and bounce.
@@jasonallen6836 huh?
Forgive me if this is already been mentioned, but the fog lights are deleted if you get the lift kit. The gas cap does have a holder it's the little black latch on the door you put the line from the gas cap into it. And you're supposed to remove the headrest when you fold the seat down and plug them into the holes at the top of the seat bottom when they're folded forward
Ah, I didn't realize the fogs are deleted with the lift. Hadn't seen that option in person.
But the question is, why would you delete fog lights when you lift a vehicle? Maybe repoint, like you would headlights, I guess but the delete seems odd...
I agree, my choice would be to keep them. It makes it look off to me, and it eliminates a useful function is like you said, it’s simply redirected.
Again, not all states are required by law to remove the fog lights when this lift kit is installed. This truck is from Texas and they are required to remove them. Utah, where I got my TRD Lift Kit doesn't require them to be removed. So I still have mine.
100% I love my 2021 Off Road Long Bed... there are too many cup holders though 🤣😂, but I don’t need a mega hydration beverage holder while strenuously driving in an air conditioned environment half a block from the nearest convenience store
My taco just hit 11years and still going strong. I love it
Keep it. Just like a 2021 model. Haven't changed...
Mine just hit 18 years, I've had the old girl since new. 144,000 miles
U r a very lucky guy. My taco died after 11 yrs of marriage.
U r a very lucky guy. My taco died after 11 yrs of marriage.
I have an 09 OR. Just hit 175k miles. New frame, full exhaust, new 5100’s, calipers, front bearings and Ujoints.
Just replaced rusted oil, trans and power steering lines .
Its good to go for another 100k, but I just ordered a 2021.
Tommy the holes in the bottom section of the rear seats is where you put the headrests to fold seats flat
He's not showing any sort of intelligence that would convince me that hes aware of that. The 2019 has all these same gadgets....
I like the TFL videos, but I couldn’t help feel this was a late April fools vid on the Taco 😂
You have to remove the headrests to fold the seats down. I do love this feature though. It works great for my dog.
Gotta love how a 30 degree angle is considered flat folding seat. SMH. Toyota, how do you always get a pass with this stuff?
@@matthewrobertson156 you can take off the headrest and it’s fully flat
@@pepper508 ahh, good to know.
Tommy lost a lot of cred points in geometry, as well as how to properly fold a backseat...😭
There’s even holes in the seat bottoms you can see in the vid where you can insert those headrests to store them!
The gas cap hangs on the clip with the little black wire, at least that's what I do.
I was going to say the same thing, that’s what I do with my Tundra, and you can see the same spot there in the video...
I just bought a 2021 SR5 V6 4x4 and I love it!
Bought my taco as a vehicle to hold for the rest of my life. So far rivers, mountains, and whatever else haven’t killed it. Let alone my own misinformed operation. Beast of a vehicle and couldn’t be happier
Must be a slow week.
The tacoma even schedules dinner with grandmas😱
Love this video! Funny and informative. Tommy has become a natural on camera. Daddy Roman must be so proud 😁😁😁
Love my 2018 off road. I can’t believe they eliminated the larger bed cubby that was on the driver side, so useful!
Cost savings along with the driver side grab handle. My 13 had one.
@@mikefoehr235 You’d think it’d be more expensive the redesign and re-tool the bed after being in production for so long.
@@ElevationEveryWeekend Well, the 3rd generation Tacoma is new so maybe it was not. Just throwing that out for consideration.
@@mikefoehr235 it was on the 2015-2018 third gens, removed for 2019 without an indication why. So weird.
@@ElevationEveryWeekend Another weird removal is the transmission cooler on the Tundra. I am told the transmission will not run hot without it but after the warranty is up I may have one installed on my 20 Tundra. I figure with extra warranty if the tranny cooks, Toyota can eat the loss.
love these short to the point videos.
I recently bought a 2021 TRD off road 4x4 automatic double cab , with the premium & tech pkg and just LOVE this truck 😍😍😍
About to purchase that truck in blue, lift and all, but with a manual. The trd pro videos y’all did helped me to pull the trigger. Thanks!
Might have been mentioned but you hand the gas cap leash on the clip on the door.
Fuel cap hangs over the latching mechanism on the fuel door, how can a huge vehicle reviewing youtube channel not know this? That and it was wired from the factory for aftermarket fog and off-road lights...
I’m not calling this a solution. A lot of vehicles have a dedicated place to hold the cap, the fold trick doesn’t count
It doesn't hang, the wire literally snaps into the latch mechanism. Takes 5 seconds of head out of ass to figure that out.
How can a billion dollar auto manufacturer not engineer adjustable fog lights on a $46k pickup? So they'll sell you a lift at the dealer, but they'll take your fog lights that you paid for. Inexcusable.
@@user-yr6gu5sm9kdo you have to post this same thing on every comment? Quit spreading shitty information and rhetoric. For everyone else, THIS IS NOT Toyota ripping you off. It's because the normal fogs go above DOT regulations with a lift added. This is DOT being idiotic and archaic regulations, not Toyota. The TRD pros have fogs and lift because they are HALF size lights and are just barely under the regulation. It's an interesting 'the more you know' reason they are tiny LEDs on the Pro and not a full size cube.
@@shirothehero0609 My Chevy high country Rocky Ridge edition is much higher than that taco and mine came with working fog lights....
I laughed so hard when he said cup holders made by communist 😂😂😂
I just got my Tacoma and same color a week ago.. love it so far!! 🙌
You can hook the gas cap cord to the little clip that clips the door in.
The rear headrests come out and slide into the hole provided on the now flipped down rear cushions. Now the back test folds down flush.
Awesome video
Total geek out. Most of these items have been with the truck since the 2005 launch!
Cherish those dinner with grandma! Mine were taken way too soon.
Also- just picked up my Tacoma, learned from this video. Cheers.
The only thing this review was missing was the Carwow Stick of Truth™️
Love the videos, but just a heads up on the gas cap the little metal thing on the door is where the cap is stored. That bend in the plastic leash is there to let you extend the cap enough to put the plastic leash into the metal clip on the door. Also on the back seat, if you pull the headrests out there are the plastic grommets on the top on the folded forward seat bottoms. You put the removed headrests in those grommets, and the seats will fold 100% flat. I'm sure you knew that, bit just tossing it out there. Keep up the good work guys.
I liked this quick and snappy video
I very much enjoyed this video..
I think that was just the trd exhaust tip and not the exhaust itself. The trd exhaust is fairly pronounced
Dang i knew TRD parts were spendy but if that is the case then $790 for an exhaust tip?
@@patinakustoms6109 the 790 is for the catback, so he was right. They sell the tip that looks like the cat back itself that bolts on the regular exhaust. I think it's like 190 or something
If you pull the divider out of the front cup holders you will have MORE space for larger cups and if you pull the headrest off the back seats and put them in the storage bins behind the seats they will lay COMPLETELY flat. Hope the help ls Tommy!

(Owner of a magnetic gray TRD off-road Tocoma)
great tip thanks
The rear headrests tilt for better drivers view without needing to remove them !
I just got my TRD Off Road with a manual transmission two months ago. You should try your Snarf's test which you haven't done in a while. I did it on mine just for kiks and it did it!! It showed me how to get from San Diego CA to Snarf's in Colorado.
2:17 u had me dieing 😄🤣
Why does that TRD Off Road not have fog lights?
Also fuel cap does have a notch to hang the cap using the cord.
The dealer removes them if you decide to get the TRD lift.
Yeah how come no fog lights on a TRD off-road?
@@hunterstokely8438 It has them by default. If you get the factory lift, Toyota has to take the fog lights out because they are now too high to pass regulation.
Toyota: We give you lift, we take you lights. Pathetic engineering on a $46k truck that the fog lights are not adjustable.
@@user-yr6gu5sm9k they actually are adjustable, but because of ancient DOT regulations, they legally have to pull them or get fined. Same reason why the rigids are fine on the Pro - their oe position puts them below the height reg since they are half size.
This Taco must have the new Toyota lift package on it. That's why it has the TRD Pro grill, and also when you get the lift package they delete the fog lights. Also, the back seats fold flat, you just have to take out the headrests.
And they pull the fogs because of ancient and terrible DOT regulations puts the centerline of the fogs above the max height.
We could have the latest and greatest car lighting from Germany(like BMWs laser system) and Japanese markets(even better LED), but our DOT is TERRIBLE and sticks to ancient or completely ludicrous regs that have no bearing in this decade/century.
You should check the owners manual on folding down the back seats to make it flat. The headrests must come off first. There’s even a holder for them.
2017 came all of that stuff.. I never confuse 4x4 knob next to temp knob
My favorite features of my Tacoma TRD OR are Cell Phone Heater & the Jellyfish Launcher!!!
Thank you tommy
I purchased a 2021 Manual Tacoma TRD Off-Road after selling my 2012 Manual Tacoma TRD Off-Road and the RSCA(Roll Sensing Side Curtain Airbag select button to disengage when off if no longer on the truck. Do you know why my new truck does not have it and I noticed from a Toyota press release this feature would be on the 4th Gen Tacoma 4x4 models. Did Toyota remove it for the entire 3rd Gen year groups?
You can hang the gas cap on the thingymajig by using the plastic wire into the inserts that snaps back in the body also you can remove the plastic inserts in your two front cup holders to fit a coffee mug or slightly bigger drinks, and lastly you want to take the head rest out if you want to completely fold the seats.
But I'm guessing you knew all of this and forced us into commenting about it 😆.
That big bottle fits fine in the 4runner😆
the leash on the fuel cap fits nicely inside of the lock mechanism on the door
Best gadget is buying a brand new one then selling it a year later for more than you paid for it 👍
The square cup holder is for large Whataburger fries. a perfect snack while driving.
Interesting that it’s spec’d with the premium package and all the TRD goodies, but not LED headlights and fog lights. Makes the front end look much better. Otherwise very entertaining quick review Tommy!
Very interesting... a dash light to remind you that you don't have fog lights.
Fog lights were removed when the lift kit was installed for height reasons.
@@equalizer2233 Toyota: We give you lift, we take your lights. Pretty low budget engineering that the fogs aren't adjustable on a $46k truck.
@@user-yr6gu5sm9k again, it's not the engineering, it's DOT auxiliary lighting regulations that are archaic. The lift puts the centerline of the fog above the DOT max height, so even though you can adjust them, dot says no no.
"But the trd pro has them!" - they are half size units in the bottom half, just below the height reg, hence why they are tiny guys and not a full size Rigid.
That is so funny. On multiple occasions I've put my Tacoma into four-wheel drive when I'm trying to adjust the fan speed. So dumb those knobs are so close and feel so similar.
Also you can put the gas cap in the latch prong on the door to hold it!
I enjoyed this hahaha
I love the videos but common 😂 the gas cap had a little clip where it was hang
That's not how the rear seat backs fold down. The headrests come out and insert into holes in the seat bottoms. I'm not sure what you were trying to do Tommy.
Please test 2021 Toyota 4Runner Limited off road.
Can't stop laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have a 2018 TRD Off Road... I am totally jelly of that camera system... the fuel cap has a clip to hang from, though many people prefer an aftermarket adapter (come on Toyota... my 2000 Ford Ranger had a better gas cap holder than you)... the center clip in the cup holder is removable allowing for even larger bottles to fit... I have a nalgene knock off and it fits just fine even with the clip in place, but it MIGHT be sized slightly different.
Critique on the video... the silliness with the peanut butter and such detracts from the quality of the video as a review and feature demo.
Yes, Tommy, some of us like peanut butter that's just peanuts. No salt, so sugar.
Like this type of video
Got this same truck but in a manual 😎
you can remove the divider in the front cupholders, can you not? My 2016 tacoma had that
Also the gas cap can fit in the fuel door latch almost too well..
Nice one 😆
I love my 2021 🌮! Way better than my 2017 Wrangler!!!
I have a 2020 TRD PRO. I love it. My quirks are foremost, the cupholders. They do not hold larger drinks like 1 liter soda's. Other people mentioned how to store the gas cap and rear seat headrests for folding. Things I would wish were changed. The off road features. Should be able to lock the rear diff in 4 high as well as use terrain select. Even if you limited it to a certain speeds like 40-50. A front locker option would be nice as well. Not too many people would really need it. But some would and expensive to add aftermarket and then possible warranty issues as it is not factory.
I love the ride and handling is decent (for a truck), Fox suspension is amazing for a factory truck. You hit a bump or speed bump and it just takes it and settles right back. No bounce or jarring. never had a vehicle that handled bumps so well. The stereo is ok. Have to turn the bass up quite a bit for the subwoofer to come into play. I had a Jeep Gladiator before this and the Alpine system in that was far superior. As well as the transmission. It had the 8 speed that was AMAZING! Both motors are about same size and power. But the 8 speed auto in the Gladiator made so much better use of the power. But I won't get into the issues I had with the Gladiator, this is about the Tacoma. The Taco seems so much roomier inside. It just feels like a quality made vehicle. It is a extra vehicle for me that I do not drive daily. But I think it would be very good for that. The main downside may be economy. As it is a bit of a gas hog. That is not an issue for me as I do not drive it daily. But if you had much of a commute, it could add up. But then you probably wouldn't be looking at 4wd trucks. But anyways, it is a well made vehicle with only a few quirks. I think it is the best looking truck in the midsize segment. And it's resale value is quite a bonus down the road. People will always want them even heavily used. Can't go wrong imho!
Front locker would be nice, but they are looking at it from the perspective of how many people would do stupid things like turn on dry pavement while locked, then swear up and down the axles broke under normal use on a straight stretch of loose gravel. I will be shocked if we ever see a front locker from the factory on an IFS of any brand. they can function, but they can not handle abuse. Likewise the 4lo limitation of the locker was likely to keep people from misusing them on pavement. Though in truth, in most situations where a locker is of value, you should already be in low range.
The fuel door actually can hold the gas cap. It’s that little clamp on the backside of the fuel door and you pull the cap cord through.
You can stick the gas cap on the black piece of the gas tank door!
Do an towing review with the 21 🌮
toyota recently offered a lift kit that will not void warranty, unfortunately it requires for them to take off fog lights, not sure why. Must be an issue with the fog lights being too high off the ground can be a safety hazard(only thing i could think of) and also why the lifted TRD Pro has a fog lights that are cut in half basically
you can fold the back seats fully flat when you take off the head rests, where you put them in their dedicated holes on top of the bottom seat
the little hanger that clicks in for the fuel door can be used to can the gas cap
also a cool feature new for ‘20 the black plastic cap in the back of the bed which you can see above the the power outlet/storage cubby are additional bed lights and are on both sides. you can buy them off amazon or a dealer if not equipped from factory
My friend that cubby is for an extension cord that's why it's beside the power outlet
The taco does have a gas cap holder you run the wire through the clip that closes it
Even my 21 AT4 fails the Nalgene test... such a bummer!
lol. square one made my communists. good one tommy. the fog light switch for the non existent fog lights was probably also made my communists.
it's not Toyota ripping you off. It's because the normal fogs go above DOT regulations with a lift added. This is DOT being idiotic and archaic regulations forcing the removal, not Toyota. The TRD pros have fogs and lift because they are HALF size lights and are just barely under the regulation. It's an interesting 'the more you know' reason they are tiny LEDs on the Pro and not a full size cube.
I wonder if the driver's side bed cubby can be added back. The parts should be available from Toyota, so if you cut a hole and installed them....
3:00 I think on the top of the door is where you hang the cap
What's weird is that usually that grill and skid plate only come on the Pro Model. Then USUALLY the only Tacoma that might not come with fog lights is the SR model. Then the gas cap actually hooks on the lid. So maybe 2021 they threw in a few different options than what I saw last time I looked, of I just didn't see the off roads with the grill etc and no fog lights. Had a 16 3rd gen tacoma and I've got a 21 3rd gen tacoma now.
The square cup holder makes an amazing spot to hold my keys, knife, etc. It's not a cup holder
Why he says "dumb square cupholder" is beyond me. It's very obviously not a cup holder - it's square.
He also didn't pull the cup holder splitter device in the front holder - that opens the front holder quite a bit.
The reason there’s no fog lights is because you have the TRD lift which makes keeping the fog lights not street legal in some states.
The back seat headrests fold flat so it doesn’t obstruct you view with the rear mirror
Yes there is a spot to put the gas cap lol
Tommy, you are too funny 😄, I enjoyed this video so much. Your pose on the floor, banana, and jar of peanut butter, thank you.
Gas cap string goes in clip that keeps door shut and holds cap while filling up.
the cord for the gas cap goes in the fork that holds the lid shut, that holds the gas cap while fueling fella
More vids like this! 🤣🤣🤣

Man that exhaust was weak lol how much was that chrome extension haha
I think the peanut butter slot is actually for snow chains.
That cup holder by the arm rest is for your spit cup and the square is for your chew.
EDIT: You are supposed to take off the back seat headrests then lower the seat backs. There are spots to put the headrests in the seats cushions.
When you open the fuel door the cap is removed for fueling just put the retaining lanyard in the clip catch on the fuel door
Mine got stolen. Don't get keyless entry it is so easy to steal. My friend a 18 year old was able to start and drive my car with no key.

Fuel cap. Pull the teather out and hook onto the door latch
The gas cap actually go in the hinge on the door. Toyota did think of that.
The square part of the cup holder is for propping up your cell phone
There is a place to clip the fuel cap cord onto
Just a little note, the fuel cap hangs on the black clamp looking thing that holds the door closed.. just an fyi
I'll stay with my 2014 Taco
Umm...When are you selling that MINI?

Why does this TRDOR not have fogs?
My Trd Pro came with fart sucking filters in the seat warmers.
OCD moment. Why do the steering wheel volume and radio controls go in opposite direction? Should volume controls go up and down not left and right? Shouldn’t channel selection Be left and right now up and down?
I have never seen a TRD off road without a fog light. It comes standard in this trim.
