I've had a 642 for over 20 years and I love it. I use it as they said...taking out the garbage and running to the stop an stab to get lottery tickers or gas. 125 grain federal +p+ with two speed loaders and I am good to go.
Been around guns since I 9 years old, born in 1950 in Santa Monica Hospital following my Dad’s return from Nagasaki were he was sent after his time in the Philippines Islands he was a Medic and eventually carried a Thompson Sub Machine Gun during his time fighting the Japanese. When I was young he got the Springfield in the 30-06 caliber, he checked the stock and had a Weaver scope on it, I changed out the scope for a Leopoldo 3-9 power. Many of the guns I used as a kid were lent to me by my Dad’s friends. I was able to join the pistol team of Rocketdyne as my Dad worked at Santa Susana test facility. During this time I was working at a place that sold 4 track and 8 track players both home and car units. My Dad had been layed off and was working at Seal Beach Naval Station were I had taught him to drive a forklift. One day I was called to the office and told that I was going to interview people today to fix the returned players. It turned out that many of these guys had worked with my Dad. To say they were over qualified is an understatement as most of them were Aeronautical engineers . Picked the according to their drinking habits, how many kids they had and if their wives had stayed with them. Rocketdyne rehired my Dad and was sent to Pearl ton Mississippi were I saw the booster phase of the Saturn engine go to 70 percent of full power.
Should do a keyless 638 with those sights. If Colt was smart , they would bri g back the greayest ccw 2 inch 38, the alloy frame Colt Agent, either hammer shroud, plus p rated. I have several Volt 2 inch D frames the hammer shrouded Agent is my favorite pocket revolver.
You guys sound like to cats to male cats fighting over one female cat soul on your presentation don’t interrupt each other you are terrible shutting you off right now

I just got a 642-UC. Well done on the one shot function check. I mean. A full cylinder is just too much.
Is Smith and Wesson still using that cheap watercolor finish?
