When you grasp the true meaning and the reality of it all it is very moving. This one forgotten 80's song lays out in beautiful simplicity the actual history of our universe. Take this song as the truth of the matter, melding the core of all major religions into a 5 minute song. There is the single creative spirit, his creation and creative counterpart Indian traditions call Shiva and Shiva's dance being the Hide and Seek. I would suggest anyone interested in exploring this to look up two terms. "Ein Sof" and "Solar Logos". This song is quite simply about Ein Sof and Solar Logos.
BTW the hide and seek is birth and death .... so that with each new life you must seek again. At the end of the day there is only one consciousness. Our small portion of consciousness contained in our temporary vessel/body must learn and forget over and over again.
Howard Jones was a giant of the eighties. His synthesiser expertise was obvious. The songs that went with them hauntingly brilliant. Hide and seek was my fave being a twenty year old at that time. I salute you SIR for your contribution to the eighties scene. If I get a reply that would be the icing on the cake.
Absolutely, this is hauntingly brilliant masterpiece with very clever lyrics and incredible use of keyboards producing mouth watering sounds that flow beautifully
Oj jak ja dawno nie slyszalam tego utworu. To był jeden z lepszych kawałków lat 80tych. Kocham muzyke lat 80tych. H.J. jeden z tych ktorzy wnieśli wkład niesamowitej muzy tamtych czasów. Ta piosenka jedna z tych Naj!
What a talented guy. He should be in the hall of fame. This song gives me tears tbh. A timeless masterpiece that should be played when mankind is gone like a legacy of soul and passion in an eternal void. A powerful message of a civilization that existed for a short time in the universe. Maybe no one will ever hear or understand it when we are gone but Howard was one of the best in an era when music was the ultimate expression of feelings and artistic excellence
Yeah, HoJo 😉 didnt get his props. They liked dismissing these 80s musicians as one hit wonders & Im guessing they werent big fans of synthesizers either. But there were some really good artists that continued to put out great music, even to this day, but are still only considered as 80s one hit wonders.
Bought this single in '84 and the song has stayed with me ever since, utterly wonderful and as deep as the Universe.... I hope you find it in everything you see. Thanks, Howard.
Oh God, I miss the 1980s. I bought Human's Lib as a wide-eyed 18-year old. I had a job, a car, great friends, cool bars and pubs to hang out in. Exuberance and possibilities ruled the day and the future promised even better to come. Take me back. We were completely lied to. This time period is a dystopian nightmare!!!!
I think we were riding the wave of a post ww2 economy and the prosperity for some was reflected in the music, fashion and art. Ultimately, it was all an illusion. If you take a step back and look what record companies did, they sold things made from oil and trees. They used musical and graphic art to do it. The 80s was not great for everybody. The UK manufacturing, ship building or mining industries for example. It was a horrible time for them as their jobs were deemed unessential, 40 years before the rest of us were told the same thing. But I agree, the distraction was better than reality. Plug me back into the Matrix.
Possibly the most genuine and authentic of all of the 80's acts. He appears to have great metaphysical knowledge. I always turn to a bit of Howard when the world feels too hard.
Howard Jones came to a little church in Northern Virginia in the 90’s and I waited in a long line to thank him for kinda saving my life. With this song especially, at a time I was negotiating these same turbulent channels and challenges. It was so sweet, his response. I will never forget his wisdom and kindness.

Yes and a game we all consent to play before we arrive here.. The real purpose of each life experience is to learn lessons about the self and to progress on a spiritual level for each lesson we learn.. We are all connected as one because we all come from the same source where we all go back to eventually… This planet is merely a breif encounter we experience as a spiritual being living a human exsistence and is a test to see how we deal with certain aspects of this life that we encounter… The line he sings ‘hope you find me in you’ is a perfect example of how spiritual Howard jones is because what he means is that we are all intrinsically linked as one from the same source so you are me and I am you and we’re merely a different expression of the same source energy… I don’t mind admitting this song brings tears everytime I hear it because as things stand people are so divided by opinions politics and religion they will never realise we are all actually the same and from the same place where we will go back to at the end of this lifetime experience
Why isn't music like this anymore it's such a shame the world would be such a different place if it was as music is and always been important to the soul
Totally agree. Problem now is you have a certain limited number of song writers in the music industry that write mediocre songs. Ie they are rubbish. We need more independent artists again. Yes the word Artist actually to mean artist not karaoke.
HoJo was a very important influence in high school. And this song resonates. I remember running this down over and over on vinyl. So profound and elegant. "Nothing at all... just a distant hum..."
Oh goodness, I forgot about this incredible song. So glad I found it again, 80's all the way, great memories, simple times for me as a child, then we grew up, so glad I can re- live through YT! Thanks for sharing.
By far his best in my opinion . So melodic and thought provoking . I always thought that Howard Jones was very under rated but this along with all his other songs have stood the test of time and sound as good today as they did when they first came out. I wish I could go back to the 80's !!!!!
Deep. There was a being and he lived on his own he had no one to talk to and nothing to do. Could describe me. But through choice. Pop music and asking the meaning of life. Howard Jones is a genius. Not sure u will find it walking down the street but who knows.
@@onesong2001 you're taking shit, both those two artists came out with awesome songs, both Howard & nik played a big part in my life back then, was always listening to their albums.
I bought Humans Lib when it came out in 1984. It's only now, 34 years later that I got it- Humans Liberation, the lyrics throughout his work are truly inspirational. A great musician, song-writer and human being!

I'm an old punk rocker but i can appreciate this timeless beuitiful classic
Simply stunning xx
Anyone who understands this song, well done.
For you understand the entire purpose of creation is nothing more than a wonderful game.
Yes and a game we all consent to play before we arrive here..
The real purpose of each life experience is to learn lessons about the self and to progress on a spiritual level for each lesson we learn..
We are all connected as one because we all come from the same source where we all go back to eventually…
This planet is merely a breif encounter we experience as a spiritual being living a human exsistence and is a test to see how we deal with certain aspects of this life that we encounter…
The line he sings ‘hope you find me in you’ is a perfect example of how spiritual Howard jones is because what he means is that we are all intrinsically linked as one from the same source so you are me and I am you and we’re merely a different expression of the same source energy…
I don’t mind admitting this song brings tears everytime I hear it because as things stand people are so divided by opinions politics and religion they will never realise we are all actually the same and from the same place where we will go back to at the end of this lifetime experience
Love this song so much very haunting. The synths are absolutely fantastic
'There was a time when there was nothing at all... nothing at all... just a distant hum...' How true.
34 years later - I'd forgotten how good song this is (and how much I loved it). Phenomenal music - goosebumps
Why isn't music like this anymore it's such a shame the world would be such a different place if it was as music is and always been important to the soul
The difference then was Musicians, now all we have is performers.
Totally agree. Problem now is you have a certain limited number of song writers in the music industry that write mediocre songs. Ie they are rubbish. We need more independent artists again. Yes the word Artist actually to mean artist not karaoke.
This song is so good it never got the respect for the deep philosophical message and amazing craftsmanship
I was nearly eighteen when this came out. I had my tape player and tapes - albums of Howard Jones and Nik Kershaw round that time
This song still creeps me out. Not a bad song but just… eerie.
I love this! 2019
Such positive music thank you.
WOOOOW SO BEAUTIFUL. .IT'S A MASTERPIECE ♥
By far his best in my opinion . So melodic and thought provoking . I always thought that Howard Jones was very under rated but this along with all his other songs have stood the test of time and sound as good today as they did when they first came out. I wish I could go back to the 80's !!!!!
A Buddhist and deep thinker ,it shows,
Deep. There was a being and he lived on his own he had no one to talk to and nothing to do. Could describe me. But through choice. Pop music and asking the meaning of life. Howard Jones is a genius. Not sure u will find it walking down the street but who knows.
No
An absolute classic by the very talented Mr Jones.
Those were the days!Howard Jones,Nick Kershaw! So love to go back to those times!
Nik Kershaw sucked big time.
@@onesong2001 you're taking shit, both those two artists came out with awesome songs, both Howard & nik played a big part in my life back then, was always listening to their albums.
@@Frostie3672 I was a fan of the wombles but I'm not gay for them 40 years later.
Howard Jones wow love his music 👋👋👋👋
masterpiece
His "non-hit" songs are so brilliant.
Amazing video of the Cosmic Unity of the Male and Female! And the potential for that Unity to shine through our relationships!
Wow! Finally i've found this song, after so many years. What a feeling.
I love this song by Howard Jones 👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎
Beautiful man, beautiful song, beautiful voice, Howard is one talented musician.
The song is amazing.
1984 was a time when you could release a song like this among your other hits and still succeed!
I bought Humans Lib when it came out in 1984. It's only now, 34 years later that I got it- Humans Liberation, the lyrics throughout his work are truly inspirational. A great musician, song-writer and human being!
Seen Howard Jones in concert 1984 and going to see him may 2019.
