- A studio version of this tune is out now on my "Synthesizer Legends - Volume 1" album:

A live version of this tune is also available on my "Live in Oslo" album:
ZYXDance.lnk.to/LIYi6KIp
I always liked this tune and was inspired when I heard Michael Cassette's version. So for my live performance I made an arrangement that was influenced by both versions, but put my own twist on it. The tune ended my show in Dynamo, Turku, where this video was recorded 5th May 2012. Unfortunately, I only had three camcorders going and the heavy bass drum in the club made the cameras vibrate with each beat. But the feeling was so high in the club that I definitely wanted to upload this particular take!
The song was performed using only analog synthesizers, either played live or sequenced. The performance was recorded line in to one of the cameras. The ambience in the club was recorded using the built-in microphones on two of the remaining cameras and mixed together with the line signal. Some mistakes were replaced with audio from a rehearsal take.
Equipment used in this song: Korg Polysix, Poly 61 (through a SansAmp GT2), Mono/Poly, Micro-preset M500; Roland TR-808, Jomox AirBase99, Juno 60, Alpha Juno 1&2; Touched-by-sound DRM1, Oberheim Matrix 6R, Yamaha RM1x (only for MIDI sequencing), Behringer DDX3216, Lexicon MPX500, as well as a midi patchbay and additional preamps for my mixer. Cameras: Canon HF100 (x2) and HF200.
A big thank you to the amazing audience in Turku and to Turku Synth Club for arranging the gig!

Watched this a TON of times and this is what 'gets me' about this video. The music is PERFECTLY balanced and mixed but, I see the video wobbling and shaking with the bass lines and hits. It is live and has errors in the visuals. This is why I come back week after week. Great and powerful rendition. Additionally. Kebu appears 'in the grove' and if you have ever been there you know what I mean. He takes what Jan Hammer laid out as an outline and forces it to the next level. His mod wheel work and idiomatic playing of the guitar riffs were amazing. Keep in mind this WAS om 2012! Great work! Keep it up!
BY THE THIS IS AN EDIT.... The fact that he plays this WHOLE thing 'off the cuff' and live.... he adds to my wish to something as amazing as this. Sequences are GREAT but, his level of play skill is off the charts.
Musica enka
You took the words out my mouth. Instantly added it to my playlist as i heard it first
A go to video for me. The "in the groove" aspect of this is off the charts. Totally all about drum sequences and rhythm. What gets me, is this song live has so much drive it hurts your guts. I feel that even listening to this on crappy speakers. i know what it really sounds like and hear that.
He do it for passion, not for the money. Its so good
1:56 that's were he took fingers off a bit to early, but melody kept playing. (Maybe melody was sequenced from before ?) Don't get me wrong please ! I love Kebu,.He is a Synthesizer Master for sure and an great Artist - Respect !!!
Still listening in 2024, what a performance, what a tune!
2026 iam here
@@rizkyfauzy4183it's 2030 where I'm at and the world is burning but Hammer is still a legend
Going to Kebu concert this Sunday night at Rust in Copenhagen, Denmark 🙂😎🎶
This was played and mixed live by ONE MAN in one take. Let that sink in. No cuts, no edits, no re-dos. Legendary!
ONE MAN is not true! All the backing is programmed!
Awesome, very very good work. Thank you Mr. Hammer. 🇨🇿😃♥️
April 2024, still watching Miami Vice, still listening Kebu playing 12 on keyboards in one track. And I love it =)
dude is still liking comments after 9 years. What a legend
Is that Samurai Cop? Classic.

Cuz it the tits!❤️
It’s 2022 and this is still the best live synth performance I have ever seen.
Absolutely!!!!!
I would recommend some Jean Michel Jarre then ;)
@@handigeharrie9550 I tried out JMJ and was pretty impressed. Magnetic Fields is magic
Yes indeed!
Even better than Bruno Martelli?
Gets never old. Still fresh.
I just watched this for the first time and all I can say is....
I AM IN COMPLETE AWE OF THIS.
Now that's a true keyboard warrior... So awesome Kebu can't wait to sample EVERYTHING!
Yeah always talking shit behind those keyboards. True keyboard warrior
Yesterday 🎉
Miami Vice, Literally a series that was ahead of it's time. What an era. The nostalgia is real man. Been re-watching the entire series these past months, and what a time. Don't think any show can come close too it these days. Sad that the era, is long past. Iconic storyline, themes, instrumentals, characters and so much more. Legendary. Espically with Jan Hammer, and how he nailed it. So glad he got massive credits for the theme, and got chosen for it.
This song is capable of being calming, powerful, and nostalgic.
Once in a generation you get someone who has a special gift and this man is one of those special few what a legend and keyboardist best I have ever heard
Back to the eighties. Great feeling. No Facebook, no internet, no instagram, no Google.... We had a great simple live.
Who in the world could dislike that performance? It is so satisfying and one of the best songs ever created. 80s were such a great decade.
a bunch of arse holes thats who
I’m going back there...gotta DeLorean...hop in
@@friktionrc Leaving everything behind. Lets Goooooo! ;)
It was all that 80's amazing blow... led to alot of creativity 🤣
Watching/listening to in 2024! This is great.
an artist who not only understands his craft but also lives through his performances
This guy is a synth genius but the Jan Hammer original had so much feeling and was also technically totally original. That’s a true musical genius.
Now there's a man who loves what he does. And his synthesizers!
Love and respect, I'm a big fan, thank you for many years of great music!
63 years old, me and my lady still make thud. Thanks, man big time
This is one of the best covers of all time, not changing my mind.
By far the very best......amazing
You’ve never heard my tambourine cover of “Run To The Hills” by Iron Maiden. 🤪👍
@Aaron Foltz - The funny part about the tambourine story, is that it’s almost true. I was cleaning up my studio, found my tambourine and an acoustic instrument pickup. Oh hell, yeah… you know where THIS is going. 😆 Straight into a half stack. I haven’t seen my wife or dogs, since. 😂 (Yes, this story is actually true. Except for the ‘wife and dogs’ part, but I did scare the hell out of ‘em! 😝)
@Aaron Foltz - I had to go listen to that Kate Bush song. I’ve never heard it before, and I’m old enough to have. It definitely sounds like you could mash them up. Here’s an old mashup, that really works, and I really like. It’s Korn and Taylor Swift, mashing up Coming Undone and Never Getting Back Together. I don’t know why it works so well, but I’m not one to argue with a good thing. If the UA-cam gods allow it, here’s a link to it: ua-cam.com/video/UDQ9kw91ebQ/v-deo.html
@Aaron Foltz - I knew that I have heard of her, but that song didn’t sound familiar. I listened to the 2022 remake. When I listened to the ‘Live at Wogan 1985’ version, I finally recognized it. I was 17 when this performance was recorded. Man, I do love the eighties! Best music EVER! 😃👍
My god… this is sheer brilliance… unbelievable
The best song to blast while driving down a long city street in the middle of Summer with the top down on your convertible.
You could taste the obvious alternation in his version yet it never felt forced, that too live. Incredibly gifted.
Legend has it the song is still going on!
Still gives me chills all these years.
I love when musicians is totally IN their music.
I could listen to this 24/7! He’s incredible ❤
Thank you for the music!! ❤
I love this song Kebu!!! Please come to America and do some shows! We love you here!!!
This is probably the first track ever that got me hooked. I vividly remember being a 7 year old boy when this track was launched and I was amazed by the futuristic "computer" sound. I still love it ❤️
As an 80s child I know exactly what you feel! Jan Hammer, Klaus Doldinger, Vangelis etc defined my musical socialisation...
@@BaronVonYolo Yes and jean Michel Jarre, Axel Foley and yes Vangelis Ilike it! But this crocket theme has basses of 2022 and the DJ has my respect : what a remix ! (remember the pink floyds in intro ua-cam.com/video/_UmOY6ek_Y4/v-deo.html)
Wow you were an advanced 7 year old 😂
@@saren6538 🤣🤣🤣 thanks!
He is seriously enjoying playing the keyboards.I can see the passion in him.
A Geek, a fortress of synths and pure fucking passion. That's how you do Electronic Music.
I loveee this song!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Reminds me of going on holiday to Tenerife with my family. I was 15, got my step dad to hire a scooter and remember the whole time there listening to Miami vice cassette on my Sony Walkman. Mid 80's??
Brilliant, love the old MV days on tv.
Those were the days
I was 15 and recorded some episodes on our vhs c camera and played it in my room on holiday. Check don johnson in that cool newer tv series.. 🐵🤩🔥🐼

Arif Hussain oh to be a kid again. This music literally brings a tear to my eye. Fond memories ... yet life is pretty shit these days.
How I miss this era of music!! Proper music!! So many memories of my youth, love it!!
Kebu doesn't push play, he doesn't twist knobs. No, Kebu is a magician, and magicians make magic.
This is without a shadow of a doubt the best comment YT has ever seen. Hats off to you sir
Still listen to this in 2024 ❤
He's not afraid to let a synth sound like a synth...love it
Wow, so many keyboards and hundreds of keys and dozens of buttons! How can this legend manage to recreate this awesome tune live with it's own catchy twisted version of it. He's a musical wizard!
«we're not worthy, we're not worthy ! » Thank you, you start my day. From my 80’s inside nostalgic kid ✌🏼
Keep coming back to this video, it's just so friggin awesome!
This is what made me a Kebu fan. This man is paying the ultimate respect to the masters. What a brilliant artist, Kebu, brings it live.
The '80's movies, the music never dies, the genre is picked up and rediscovered for the generation coming forth. It's that good, you can't fight it, give in to the spine-tingling sound.
This is still amazing after all those years
This Jan Hammer cover is way better than the original, took this simple theme to higher grounds and new musical worlds while at same time sending any 80s teen back to a skin-burned memory of crocket driving in his car during the famous episode . Way to go Kebu, what a monster performance.
I thought it 7 years ago, and I still think it...this is the best version of this track in existence, period.
That was the music of the future back in the 80's and now still in to the future...
One of my favorite music on my list...
I can never get bored listing to Kebu ! he nail's it everytime !
2023 best Performance ever... from Crockets Theme 😍
What a legend. He just captured the whole 80's in one track ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Is this MemeMagic? D:
I just saw you in Portland the other week, we were front row at the stage! Cool seeing you here, perhaps some Crockett's Theme inspiration for your new tracks?
I have been to four of Kebus concerts so far and this song is a highlight every time. It is never the same and for me the best one was in Hannover 2017 where he absolutely killed it with the last part on the Korg.
Crocketts Theme is a real Masterpiece of Jan Hammer. I heard the original already hundred and hundred of times. Its the most timeless Track I ever heard. ANd i will hear it hundred and hundred times in future until I die. As I was young (Born 1977) i played Organ/Keyboard and bought the Scores of this Song und cwas able to play this thing in sleep.
It's so refreshing to hear this after many years.
2:47 You know the bass is JUICY AF when even cameras capture it.
Genialne. Ten występ ma 10 lat a ja nadal to uwielbiam 🥰🥰🥰
I was blown away when I first watched this nearly 11 years ago . I’m a Miami Vice, and Jan Hammer fan and this really did it justice! Kebu really took it to the next level here. This will remain next level for all eternity.

Dude... this is probably one of the best live synth performances i've seen...
Very cool to be the creator of a piece that’s now essentially timeless, loved it when first released, never stopped liking it. If anything seems to age pretty damn well
One of the goals💯
This song feels so special when it is made like this
Keep coming back to this every couple of weeks or so, reminds me of the 80's
9 years later and I still love this

Fantastic performance of a great theme song! Loved the way he played both keyboards at once and behind his back. Remarkable. How can anyone not like this? I guess
