Late to the party, but hearing Caitie mention a Wicked Grace card game has got me thinking of, not a mobile game, but a board game based on Wicked Grace. It could be a social deduction game fused with Texas Hold-‘em, since that game seems to be very similar to Wicked Grace. You could win by being a good poker player, but there are also special roles that are dealt out to players that provides an alternate win condition. For example, a player might be dealt the Blood Mage role and their win objective is to, at any point is the game, call out another player and the two cards dealt to them in order to prove their mind-reading skills. They would reach this objective not by actual blood magic mind you, but by “cheating” and trying to catch a glimpse of that player’s cards, embracing the vision of what Wicked Grace is portrayed as: a cheater’s game. I think this would be very thematic to what we imagine Wicked Grace to be like: it is a card game but the emphasis of the game is cheating and storytelling and sleight-of-hand and etc.
Also as a little fun edition, the storytelling aspect can also be incorporated as a central mechanic. Above with all the cheating is how we learned of Wicked Grace in DA:O from Isabella, but the storytelling aspect of Wicked Grace we learn from Varric in DA:I can also be captured. Imagine a deck of 30 tarot-sized cards, each with an in-world story that is read during the game. Players take turns drawing a card from the story deck and reading it aloud. Players can choose when they decide to read a story, so there is no set order on when one might read a story. This might work towards some character’s win condition but also as a fun addition to the game. For the lore heads of Dragon Age, there can be special cards that, instead of providing a story, it can provide a topic or a prompt (such as “Did I ever tell you all the time I went to Skyhold…) and they can make up a story or pull from a story in game.
You know what might be a cool idea for a StV episode? Jordan and Caitie discussing the music of BioWare games. Like maybe just counting down your favorite songs from Mass Effect/Dragon Age. It doesn't even have to be a full episode or anything, maybe just the last 10 minutes of a larger episode.
I also just rewatched Scary Movie 2. My 8 yo son happened to walk in the room during the Nike commercial spoof and couldn’t grasp what was happening. “What are they doing? Why are they playing basket ball in the dark? This is so weird mom!”
I guess if you weren’t alive when it came out this would seem like the most random thing to ever happen in a movie.
"2d Waifus" had me dying of laughter.
Russian here! Mobile games are pretty big in here too, so yeah. I've tried HoDA and I don't know ANYONE who ever played it. BUT the EA label and recognisable design, etc. are a big part of its 'success' here. EA mobile games are really popular, e.g. FIFA, Sims, Star wars. Though I don't think there are hardcore mobile gamers, more like a lot of people play on their way to work/school.
I think something across the lines of visual novel may work for DA. I delved into mobile otome and dating games earlier in the year because I was curious if they’d be similar to the story aspects I loved so much in DA. My conclusion is yes to an extent. Two great models I for making unique dragon age mobile games are the Mystic Messenger and The Arcana. The arcana has some amazingly beautiful art and great storytelling with engaging characters! I feel like a BioWare story would easily fit in the same formatting and romance or not, would be really fun. Not so much of a game as more of a visual novel/ codex entry stuff. Dragon age has all those books, and I might read one if it were in this Format. Mystic Messenger is unique solely based on the time slot aspects, that I didn’t think I’d like, but turn out to be my favorite part of the game. I’m not so much addicted to the story as I am the gameplay there. And it take advantage of unique mobile aspect. I think combining these aspects could make for a really engaging and long running DA app. Maybe some more fenris stories :)))
#DragonAgeCardsYes but if it was Wicked Grace, that would be great
Edit: Maybe Answering PMs Live part 2?
#DragonAgeCardYes I love card games, mainly because I play them while I watch Netflix series or anime online.
Well, the dating sim you're thinking about is most likely Mystic Messenger and is originally a Korean game. But you do have English translations for it. There are dating sims intended for men and women, a lot of chances for people to get their respectable waifus and husbandos. Though a lot of dating sims are usually made in Japan.
Gwent but it's called Wicked Grace qnd it's on mobile. That's what we need.
Drinking game: Take a shot whenever Caitie pronounces pokemon wrong
The Cyrillic alphabet is most popular because of Russia, but it's also used in: Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. But of all those nations, Russia has the most population. So odds are good you're seeing someone whose Russian, but its not always the case.
Also I will admit I did play Galaxy of Heroes as a fun distraction when my computer died, but I didn't spend any money on the game. Even still, it was decently fun entertainment even if I didn't get too far in it. I lost interest once I got my PC back.
Also to add for Jordan it's pronounced "sirilik" as in the name Cyril. Not like 'acrylic' :'D.
I don't know if you know an iOS game called "to be" by Tinman for 2$ or something, but it is a funny little choose your own adventure, with three characters and a handful of endings for each. It's relatively short to play through, but I think that that sort of game could be interesting. And it doesn't have to be about a great hero, it could just be a handful of more grounded characters. And if they want some money, they can sell expansions to it, although I would greatly prefer to just buy it once and just own it.
Ps. It's a straw man when you say gamers and legislators call microtransactions gambling. Loot boxes and the like are gambling. Overpriced premium currency are not. They are a horrible way of doing business, but you know what you get. It's just for the record
Oh and if Dragon Age Cards is anything like Rage of Bahamut was before that closed down...then heck yes #DragonAgeCardsYes
#DragonAgeCardYes!
This is the right answer. =)
where do you download dragon age legends?
the amount of money I've spent on microtransactions in world of warcraft makes me uncomfortable lmao, I used to get server transfers and faction transfers all the time. And that's a game with a box price AND a sub fee.
For anyone who doesn't know about this............www.dailystar.co.uk/tech/gaming/794369/Dragon-Age-4-Release-setting-likely-confirmed-by-new-collection-of-short-stories. Have fun!!!
Yeah Galaxy of Heros and Heros of Dragon Age are essentially the same game
Lol, I didn't know Andromeda had a mobile app
Also #DragonAgeCardsyes he’ll yeah I’d go for it 😂😂
These so called f2p games that are really p2w or to some extent even p2p when you reach a certain lvl...are why so many people are currently loving the Canadian studio DE & their game Warframe, you can buy stuff if you want to...or you can just utilise the in game economy to earn stuff without ever having to spend a cent, which a lot of people do...but anyway, I am also proud of myself for not having spent more than $10 (which I was given on an iTunes card) on mobile games XD
I hate that mobile games are doing so well monetarily >.
#DragonAgeCardNo maybe something like the constellation mini-game from Inquisition, with lore for completing them. We could do the same with Tiventer murals or Dwarven rune crafting puzzles. Even the War Table missions are do-able on mobile
