    Massive respect for putting together this "non-traditional" episode.

    I'd noticed this when jamming with my bass to Prodigy songs too. Liam listens to enough music that he understands, even if only subconsciously, how real bass, guitars and drums should sound, which is why his electronic music sounds so natural and groovy. One of my favourite ones to do is Rockweiler. Loads of slides and bends to play around with.

    I love anything that blurs the line between bass and synth; definitely going to dig out these records, learn these weird lines and maybe even try to get these sounds!

    This was very cool. Bass is bass whether it's on a keyboard or a traditional bass guitar. Cool to see how these synth bass lines can be translated on an actual bass. Thanks for sharing this Paul.

    Always thought "Firestarter" would be a more straightforward and fun line to rock out to. Also, always been fascinated by the pulsating, "thrumming" bass in "Breathe" as it is so effective and so odd.

    They worked with "Pop will eat it's self/PWEI", a lot in the early days to move towards that Electric-rock sound! There was some old footage of liam, playing drums/guitar and bass plus keys/Snyth/Dj..! Not sure if it on Y/T though, it's from way back in about 92/3🤘

    Wow, this video is such a great idea (as well as execution). Translating electronic music onto a string instrument is not something I would've thought of for inspiration, but now I wanna grab my bass and jam along to the Prodigy.

    Now this episode was quite the surprise. Now that you've gone over the bass in The Prodigy, you've got to go over Squarepusher who's an insane bassist that shreds over EDM tracks.

    Old head checking in, and I've found that a lot uptempo edm has some surprisingly mellow bass lines.

    One of my favourite Prodigy basslines is the one from 'No Good (Start the Dance)', it's simple, but effective.

    1:08 most ironic thing about that clip is that bassline Deadmau5's talking about can & was played on a bass by Davie504

    • @jensvide777
      @jensvide777 2 роки тому +1

      Depends on what he meant. In the original song there are two basslines, one low and one high which you can't really play at the same time.

    • @frippfink
      @frippfink 2 роки тому

      @@jensvide777 that's also true but I reckon you can get the same sort of effect with a octaver, I use a digitech whammy and it can get that sort of effect.

    • @jensvide777
      @jensvide777 2 роки тому

      @@frippfink That would work if the low and high basslines were the same, but they aren't.

    I've messed around with making music for about two decades, but never had the opportunity to use real instruments into the software I use (mainly FL Studio) its definitely because of this that I always struggle to create a good bass line, I think that just randomly clicking away entering notes into a virtual keyboard is not as natural, even at all natural, than playing an instrument, one day, I might even learn how to play an instrument 😂 but saying all this, I don't do to bad,
