If they were going to do a Bersa clone, then why not go for the Thunder 380 Plus, since it has a 15 round magazine. Also, it needs better sights or the ability to change sights to something better.
Just bought a RIA M206 revolver, partially based on TFB TV's review. It's a really nice little gun. I've only shot about 50 rounds through it and at fairly close range but it was remarkably accurate with great trigger pulls. Wish there were more grip options for it like some larger wood grips. I hope RIA leans into the inexpensive revolver market more.
I’ve had mine for about five years, and it’s dependable as the day I bought it. It’s a hoot to shoot and I’ve found it’s pretty nostalgic for older shooters to get behind.
These are some new whiz bang guns from RIA however anyone considering purchasing these items note that armscor and RIA have terrible customer service. I purchased a 5inch 9mm Tac Ultra double stack 1911 style pistol as my first foray into the 2011 world. It’s actually a very good Gun and very fun to shoot. It’s pretty accurate and probably a very good buy for the money (the finish isn’t high end but not bad). I was concerned that the detente for the thumb safety might be a bit loose since I kept accidentally deploying it, which does not happen with my other 1911 and my staccato. In an abundance of caution (and before the warranty ran out) I sent the gun back to armscor / RIA. There is an expected 6-8 week turnaround time. My pistol was sent back fedex and received at their facility 12/19/2022. Since that time I have not had any confirmation they have received the firearm, let alone looked at it. I have emailed them several times and have called and Placed on cosmic hold three times without being able to speak with anyone. @anton1949 while that may be the case, I simply tend to shoot well with 9x18 Makarov and want something a bit more available. It's an easy cartridge for for my well worn and thoroughly vintage 22 year old hands, lol. It ain't just old folks.
@@FCV0511 The new Beretta 80 series and clones are okay, but I still prefer the looks of the classic Cheetahs. I would absolutely love a Beretta 84FS or 85FS chambered in 9mm, even if it had to be scaled up slightly. We are getting into the age of rather compact micro 9s. A small DA/SA 9x19 with the looks and handling like an older Beretta Cheetah would be killer!
That Makarov-looking gun used to be all-steel and was chambered in 9x18 - not .380. Thsi was an issue here in the Philippines as Armscor was selling it as .380. It was a good and accurate gun - so long as you use the right ammo. Just inspect it well before buying. Also, for some odd reason, RIA is cheaper in the USA than here in the Philippines. Suxx.

On a crowded showroom floor, there's basically no direction you can point to demonstrate the features of a firearm without sweeping someone. Barrel discipline is by far the least important out of barrel, trigger and ammo discipline anyway. Might the Li380 be a licensed or rebranded Bersa Thunder? Those have not been imported for years....even in the Philippines due to the advent of modern carry pistols.
Bersa is made in Argentina the country is having huge financial problems a couple of months back I read they had a 75% interest rate I wonder if they sold their rights
The only weird thing to me is that the .380s were single stack. I was actually planning on getting one before I got the new Beretta 80x but like really why single stack?
So is the RIA LI380 a blowback or locking breach like the S&W M&P EZ380? The EZ is really soft shooting. No blowback can match it. Good for the recoil sensitive.
Nice look at some new hardware. John might want to bone up on Rule #2, though. Just sayin'. Those muzzles spent a lot of time pointed at James's middle.
My luck has been hit or miss with RIA, but I like the innovation and the poverty-tier pricing on a lot of their stuff. I will say, the shotguns and pistols aren't made by the same manufacturers. The RIA Imports / Armscor International shotguns come from Turkey (made by Derya if I'm not mistaken). The pistols, I believe, are made in the Phillipines, at least their 1911s. The 10mm 1911 I had worked well, especially for the price, whereas of the two shotguns I've owned the VRPA 40 was trash whereas the Meriva works great and looks to have at least some parts compatibility with Rem 870 parts (like side saddles and mag tube end caps).
I have their import VR80 semi auto shotgun and its growing in the competition shooting field. No its not a Berretta but its an amazing semi auto for about $600.00. I have RIA doublestack 199's and have been a longtime fan of them as well. They make more 1911's than anybody in the Phillipines. The new USA plant in Utah is up and running putting out shotguns and the new 5.0 so that is great news!
RIA is one of my favorite manufactures. In my experience everything I've had from them has been great. They also made the first gun I ever had. Dad bought me an Armscor m1600 when I was a kid it's still in my safe to this day.
I always root for RIA, my buddy got two of their 1911s years ago when nobody had really heard of them here and they both shot great and were dead on reliable even though they cost way less than anything else on the market. These days theres quite a few lower priced 1911 makers out there but that wasn't always so. It's cool to see them doing new things. The RIA 5.0 looks sweet. Not sure there's much of a market for the .380 though. You can get something lighter with 4 more rounds capacity just as cheap so not sure there's a big market for a steel da/sa .380 single stack above what the Bersa already fills just fine. Plus you could always grab a CZ83 for an extremely well-made da/sa all metal .380 that holds 12 rounds.
RIA 5.0 looks excellent. RIA Lightning seems a good choice if I can't find a Bersa Thunder when I do go looking. RIA .45's are peak, I'm looking forward to trying one of their double-stack versions.
This guy seems so genuinely enthusiastic about his products. Its very refreshing actually. I hope events like this become more popular.

Me too. Plus it is way cheaper than Alien or Hudson guns
Looks like a terrible design lol
John is on point. I have been interested in RIA for a while now, gonna make good on that now.
I love RiA, definitely interested in that .380!
That TM22 makes me chuckle but in a "aww look that pug" way
Rock Island came out with a Makarov/CZ83! It's what the LI380 is, essentially.
I really appreciate your Shot Show coverage. Seems like not many are doing it anymore. Thanks guys! 👍🏻
Dang, from the cheetah returning and the new .380 from RIA it looks like folks are starting to hit the market I've talked about for years.
Nice.
Tisas has a clone of the Cheetah out as well, the "Fatih 13". It looks decent enough, and doesn't have a rail so it can retain the classic look..
The older shooters get, the better .380's look..
I love RIA for their reliable low priced weapons
The Baby Rock is cool, just wish it had a rail and maybe they can mill it so that we can throw something like the EPSc on it.
Those pistolas look similar to the Hudson 9 H9, the Bersas, the 1911 are nice, the shot guns are great and I hope to see those 22 sooner
Is the LI380 available in California?
That Makarov-looking gun used to be all-steel and was chambered in 9x18 - not .380. Thsi was an issue here in the Philippines as Armscor was selling it as .380. It was a good and accurate gun - so long as you use the right ammo. Just inspect it well before buying.
Also, for some odd reason, RIA is cheaper in the USA than here in the Philippines. Suxx.
Is it a photographic effect, or is John sweeping the interviewer?
@ 4:53 spotted the Jan 6th fed.
🤣😂🤣
So it's basically like a Bersa Thunder or TPR
4:52 me in the back when hearing the MSRP
RIA making some great products. That competition gun looks pretty revolutionary--i wish they'd gone over it in more detail. Also I like that Bersa clone!
RIA's New Utah Factory is already up and humming ! That 5.0 Is incredible. A completely new non tilting barrel design . Really is a incredible target/competion pistol I will bet, Over a decade Fred Craig put into designing and testing etc of this pistol. That new BBR 9mm looks great too!
I'm tempted to try to conceal carry it under arm chest mount or ankle holster
Awesome they are really making things happen, good stuff nice to see more designs and firearms coming out.
I would definitely buy a RIA Bursa Thunder for the $299 MSRP they are listing that as.
I clicked on this video because I'm excited for another DA/SA carry gun, but John is the man.
Passionate and nerdy in the best way. Protect this man at all costs, he is a treasure. More videos please. I just want to watch him in front of a camera talking about something he loves.
Definitely intriguing ... so far the RIA and PSA stuff has me impressed.
380 as a purse carry is still better then 22lr
Off body carry might as well not be carrying at all
@@spartaninvirginia thats stupid and you should feel stupid for saying it. A gun you can reach is better than one you don't have.
@@alastor8091 lol, no. Off body carry is the easiest way to lose control of your firearm.
@@spartaninvirginia I've seen more people get their weapon taken off them when it was on their body than people getting their purse snatched and losing it that way. Even if you did run the risk of losing control of your firearm, its better to have it anyway because, uh, you're more than likely not going to lose control of your bag.
@@spartaninvirginia replace purse with pocket then
I have a BBR 310 45. I love it. I would like to see the 9 mm version. That MSRP too high. Put it in my hand then maybe
Looks like John is actually enjoying his job / time at shot show...great to see !?!
I love my RIA .45. Glad to see they're still making new stuff, and expanding US operations! Yippee-Ki-Ya John!
John McClain himself!!
I know those guns have been checked, rechecked, and re-rechecked but I still get uneasy seeing muzzle sweeps.
On a crowded showroom floor, there's basically no direction you can point to demonstrate the features of a firearm without sweeping someone.
Barrel discipline is by far the least important out of barrel, trigger and ammo discipline anyway. I've been swept by employees in just about every gun store I've seen once it's established the firearm is clear. The only time I see it strictly enforced is in live fire scenarios on the range. Ymmv.
@@rolanddeschain6265 I was once handed a CZ52 that had a loaded magazine in it right out of the cabinet at a gun shop once. And, another time, I was in the building at a Knoxville gun show when I shot echoed through the building. Rules 1 and 2 of gun handling.
Why can't someone make one of those shotguns use either mag or tube with a minor adjustment that takes no time to do.
Because there's no way to have a lifter mechanism work through mag
@@Scrap_Goblin not yet anyway.. but I'm thinking some sort of quick detach for it or a drop free block for the mag attachment and drop in a block assembly for the lifter. Or a cross bolt switch that holds a Mossberg style lifter in the top and free wheels it from the rail.
The more new guns the better, but for carry purposes I tend to go with the tried and true that I don't have to question their reliability. Give it a few years for the kinks to work out and I'm buying em all!
Super interested in that 380. Love how concealable my LCP is, but I broke my wrist recently and can't quite handle full recoil yet.
LCP's are not fun to shoot at all...MAX is ok.
So this is like a rotating barrel like px4?
Regarding the new .380, "or a person that just likes guns, and wants another one". Best line of the video.
Love this channel James keep up the good work buddy.
Cool! Never knew about RIA but will definitely consider their catalog
Just saw the pistol fell in love with it didn’t even know it was rock island
Really hoping the 45 Bbr 3.10 would have came out with a rail this year that’s kool they came out with a 9mm for the series.
So is the RIA LI380 a blowback or locking breach like the S&W M&P EZ380? The EZ is really soft shooting. No blowback can match it. Good for the recoil sensitive.
Obviously it's a Bersa frame - safe to assume it's a straight blow back . They should have squared off the dust cover portion and added a rail.
RIA is swinging for the fence this year. The 5.0 is on my list of things to keep an eye on.
Nice look at some new hardware. John might want to bone up on Rule #2, though. Just sayin'. Those muzzles spent a lot of time pointed at James's middle.
Love me some .380
will this li 380 will be possibly sold in the Philippines
Looks like they are selling the updated Bersa TPR380 Plus (was Thunder 380 Plus)
I'd like to see a tube fed version of their semi auto 12 gauge firearm, honestly. Not very many semi options out there.
Thanks Reeves
So is the 380 a modernized Bersa thunder?
RIA 5.0 looks excellent.
RIA Lightning seems a good choice if I can't find a Bersa Thunder when I do go looking.
RIA .45's are peak, I'm looking forward to trying one of their double-stack versions.
There's no reason 380's can't come standard with 15 round mags
They do. Made by the same company that makes this.
The 9 is not on their website yet. I want one.
God damn I Love Rock Island
That hidden hammer 9mm is actually really cool
Ruger Security-9 series has the same system, though I can't speak on how nice the trigger is.
Freakin excited!!
very interesting. Where are you staying this year James? Worried that you're walking around Vegas with out a gat.
