Something else to clarify, CaptureAge can be launched online in it's current version, however has limited use in it's state as voobly will force close the game and kick you off voobly. They're planning on stopping it from working at all when in the playing modes of the game to avoid any exploitation. See you at Hidden Cup 2! ✌️

This is looking fantastic - so professional. Finally you've got a way to cast that matches the quality of your commentary. I've always wanted to see this game commentated like an actual sport and captureage is one step of the way. My only suggestion: Have you ever considered the ability to 'draw' on the screen? So for example, in the early game where you're talking about where to wall, you just draw a couple of lines that only last for a second, or if you want to say, "it'd be nice to see a castle here", you draw a small circle there. It's pretty common in sports commentating, would love to see it here, especially since you seem to already use the cursor to do this already (but it's not very visible) and it would work so well with captureage since now you can point out features across the entire map all at once.
Dota has this feature and it helps a lot when casters talk about positioning and such, they can just say "here" and draw instead of "south of x" or "next to x"
@@nbrain1595 tbh, this is already such a huge improvement over vanilla aoe 2, I'd never say it's "missing something", just more slight improvements to look forward to, what you've done is already amazing and nothing will take out from it :D
The only issue with red is that it typically represents missing health while green represents current health. So seeing a bunch of red health bars from a normal perspective looks as though its missing health when it is actually current health. It is a really cool feature though and if you adjust to it could be really nice in big fights, especially in team games.
The updated font for numbers and letters is amazing, makes everything easy to read. The guys behind Capture Age are doing a fantastic job! I'm even more pumped for HC2 now 😀👌
I think the colors are a bit dull. They should be brighter and maybe the black border around the letters should be thicker. That way the letters would pop out more and be clearer. At least the name+score+age on the right hand side is bit unreadable against the overworld map. The original was clearer to read. The new font is good though
Capture Age is so nice, even better with the rest adjustments to the size and fog look. Here are a few (minor) suggestions since devs are reading : To ease it for the caster, when zooming back in, lock it at the normal for like half a sec so they don't over-zoom and toggle to normal. Showing the dead army value/%g next to the k/d would be interesting, plus there is space for it. Really digging the military values! Gives a much better picture than pure numbers. Showing enemy units in the fog to see near vision-misses. If they'd find it useful, allow casters to toggle-show some Achievement stats, notably resources collected. Not sure if T90 would agree but I'd find it pretty cool to see who collected how much resources. In a similar vein, showing the total amount of villager-time worked? Not sure how to word it, but a way to see how long villagers have been working in total since game start (or some declination), so that we can compare how effective economies have been (building aside) counting in quantity and idling.

With capture age at max zoom out we can now actually come really close to seeing where those elite longbow arrows are going xD t90 it's really great to see how passionate you are about hc2 which only tells how passionate you're about aoe2
@@nemes1s_aoe Once upon a time we really did, there was no zoom out limits, the map would go invisible and you'd lose it xD (hence adding a zoom limit, center screen and default zoom hotkeys) Could also zoom way past a single pixel covering the whole screen in the past 11
This overlay is fucking amazing! Loving the fact that people out there are still creating and implementing new stuff into the game, this is so beautiful!
Several things to say before watching the game : -Capture age looks amazing and it’s nice that you took the time to show us beforehand so we are not too confused during the first games of the event. Some features definitely need some getting used to. - imagine this tool put into an app. You could watch games live and chose between a list of available casters to listen to, while freely browsing the map, zooming in and out and stuff. How amazing would it be ? - I’m pumped up for the event, the pre event and these show matches were amazing, can’t wait to see the main dish. But I won’t see it on Twitch because it buffers like crazy, even on the lowest quality (which is a pain to watch) it takes forever to load. So I hope you’ll be uploading stuff to UA-cam in a short time ! That being said, I hope you have a great time casting too and keep up the good work.
Me 2 the struggle i have to read the score or pretty much anything on my cellphone..... ive tried it on my 60 inch 4k tv last time, but not to often my girlfriend doesn’t like this shit
Such incredible feat to go against a strong civ using one of the least favorite civ and winning with absolute map control. Awesome game, cant wait for hidden cup soon!
Captureage is great. It takes your commentary to a more in-depth level, and it's so much easier to read than other overlays. I love the zoomed-out view as well, you get a much better sense of what's happening. I will never understand why grabbing a relic or two as soon as you hit Castle isn't the first thing players do. Unless you think the game is going to be over in a few minutes, boosting your gold income and having a gold source that will never run out, is so valuable. Even with Hera's map control, without those relics, I think Metal takes this.
CA Team: at 26:34 we see that ballista elephant shots do not seem to be animating right as they pass through units. Not sure if this was a game glitch or CA. Edit: Seemed to notice much the same happening with fire ships in the prior game. Might be that the effects on penetrating projectiles are not working in general.
I noticed immediately that the Capture Age interface is now more readable. I made a comment on one of the previous videos that the text was too small, and it looked like it's better now. Comparing this video to one of those videos made me absolutely certain.
I would love if the zoom level around 17:05 was used more. I've never been able to visualize flanks and the way a base is pressured like that before. I think that viewers like me, who never plays the game, can benefit a lot from it!
I feel like I am part of an exclusive club for seeing the original one all the way through. Anyway, awesome overlay! I hope to continue to see it improve. Great game too, naturally.
Britons are one of the best civs imo. But the longbowmen need to be complimented, with some skirms as a shield and a couple of mangonels don't go amiss either. That would've countered Hera's skirms, pikes alone aren't enough. A mix and balance of units is key. Protecting the elite and gold units, is of paramount importance. Cavaliers compliment longbows well also, providing cover against enemy siege units, cavalry and ranged units. Longbows also need assistance from monks and areas of cover, to retreat to when pressed by a good adversary. One of their strengths, is shooting from inside buildings. If u can garrison the injured longbows, they'll defend whilst they're recovering and Britons towers get range bonus. So it makes good sense, to follow the mass of bows up, with a few vills and monks, to assist and capture enemy cavalry units. The vills double up as repairmen for siege units also and monks can be garrisoned, if surprised by the enemy. Metal made many mistakes, mainly not securing gold revenue and not defending against raids. As you will inevitably, run out of gold at some point. Producing surpluses of the other resources, is another means of getting the gold needed, via the market and supplements the main sources.
The progress on upgrades could be shown as dials within the icons at the bottom, instead of progress bars in the upper right. A mouse-over pop-up on those icons could then show the name of each upgrade, should you want to highlight it. The icons that show units currently being created or queued up for each type, could also show the number of existing units. The score could be shown in the stats table at the bottom, instead of in the game window. And the age each player is in, is already shown in the bottom left.
captureage is a beast for late game :) This UI is on par with some of the best SC2 caster UI. If possible here is what I would live to be added to it, maybe as a toggled fonction : - Ressource income per minute per player. - Total ressources harvested and lost per player. - Toggleable recap of civ's bonuses (last time I played AoE2 is like 15 years ago) for the caster to recap them at start of the game. - total time spent codding capture age (just kidding, yet kuddos).
I know this may go unnoticed, but it would be nice if the unit selected when you select both players units, displayed the armor and att of the units if they are all of the same kind, it would fit next to the dot that displays the unit count. I know it's a dumb detail but most of the time you see 1v1 between the same kind of units, like at 13:14 you see cav vs archers
I saw that you mentioned it, but felt like you glossed over it a bit. Could you please (re)explain all of the indications on the new (and very cool) overlay? Curious about the "VALUE" and the "%g" features in the bottom right. I also asked a couple of vids ago, about whether you're now able to ROTATE the camera or not. Didn't hear back, so thought I'd ask again. I very much enjoy your channel, and am looking forward to the 2nd Hidden Cup! Anyways, thanks. :)
The fog of war adjustment is incredible! Fixing the lowercase letters and abbreviations and this gets a 12/10 from me just WOW Another question concering capture age: The ressources of the entire map are a bit weird. For 90% of the game time and 90% of games this information is totally unnecessary. I get that there is space and it could be useful to casters sometimes, but for me it is just a collection of distracting numbers going down with no meaning at all 29:30 WOOOOOOOW
Just want to say, CaptureAGE is freaking amazing. I can't describe how much better it is to watch there games with this UI and quality of life improvements. It much better for big battles we can see more of the fight and movements. Just so awesome.
Hey T90 ! I'd love that capture age move the statistic a bit more left to left room to put back the twitch chat, I really enjoy having it to read a bit in slow moments of the game :)
this wasnt a twitch stream, but we could generate some fake chat in the future? :P kidding, u can see the score being relatively high up? we left space there for chatoverlay during the actual hc2 tourney
T90 raises an interesting point about Hera's overboom. Do you think if Metal didn't raid his vils and concentrated on killing mil units and buildings first before going for eco in his big push, would it have gone differently? Sounds counterintuitive. I feel like the relics made a bigger difference than the pop cap here, and Hera would have deleted vils if Metal didn't do it for him.
There is another great 1v1 post imp war uploaded by Hera on his UA-cam channel. The difference is that Hera went for Britons while the enemy went for Khmer. The enemy was Tim.
Noticed that when you were clicking some of the longbowmen, they would say the Spanish military lines, Presto, Si, ETC. Probably something with capture age that you may want to report.
I've brought this up, it would likely require some integration with voobly. The only other alternative is keeping a list of top players/nationalities, however this isn't a great solution due to EU privacy laws. So in short, I'd like to see it however there's a ton of things with higher priorities. (Casters could crop the flags out from pkz's spec dashboard or just show it on the scoreboard anyways.)
I don't usually make it out to streams because they aren't really my thing but I'm definitely going to try to make it out to this one! I do have some things going on these next few days but my alarm is set for 6 a.m. tomorrow. :)
@@nbrain1595 Thanks for the effort! Today's match has another small one, the grey team colour might not always be very visible, would it be possible to get a light/dark toggle for the caster?
@@PeterSanderse yea we know. its really hard to find a set of 8 different colors that all work with the ui, minimap etc. so were looking for improvement there for sure, though we dont know what we going to do there yet
I'm assuming this is something thats easy to tweak in Capture age, but its pretty hard to see the gold and stone on the light coloured minimap background
Captureage is awesome. Thanks for the great commentary. Just wanted to add.... Why do you zoom in at the start of the game. It's pretty much routine. It would be awesome to see, How the players develop their strategies. Also, isn't there a way to capture the scouting of both the teams simultaneously? It would be great to watch how both the players develop their map control.
Text is much better looking now, but along with the rest of the UI it's still rather too small. I keep having to lean forward and drag my screen towards to read some things or see an icon clearly which isn't so fun. I also wonder if having everything down the bottom is efficient, or maybe better delineation is needed so you can find what you're looking for faster. There's a lot of information crammed together with the same sort of representation which makes it harder to pick one thing out.
well were trying our best to make this at least better than the normal classic ui with spec table. but our main focus is on the live streaming PC experience for now. sadly we have limited time
I think that's just using render delays in OBS, it's really impractical to use. Replay stuff isn't the highest priority atm for us but we're definitely interested in trying to do that at some point.
Hey @T90Official Do you think your gameplay would be different if you could play zoomed out? For me it looks like it would make walling WAY easier when you once uncovered parts of the map. as well as pressuring certain points of enemies
Well, in ealier video I said that I like old spectator more, but right now I'd probably go with capture one :P. With classic fog of war and no smooth zoom in/out it feels a lot more like original :). I just can't to get used to other interface layout yet, but it's probably a matter of time. Great job anyway. Can't wait it to get the interface with AoE2 skin :P
The CaptureAge mod needs a colour changer to get around the health problem. So if you could change the colour of the player in the CaptureAge, that would be cool.
HPbars in red/blue color is imo so much better than the standard green/red. It just takes a bit to get used to but dearlord what do i hate the people that dont share this wonderfull ap to not use myself. really really sucks. Edit: The hate was in jest. The tone gets lost easy online. Again goodjob on the castingfront man, keep it going!
@@nbrain1595 i hope you understand it was in jest, as such a thing is awesome to use! I understand it completely but it just sucks for me/others but again, you should (dont!!) feel bad about it!
I wish there was a button to show the market prices without clicking a market. maybe a pop-up when a certain price drastically changes (for example stone price dropping or increasing by 30%) I love Capture age
The new UI would be even better, if the names with the score on the right side where further down, right above the gray bar at the bottom. Right now, they are awkwardly hovering in the middle of the screen.
You'll see that that gap has been left for twitch chat during HC2. These recordings were offline so the chat would've just been empty or filled with random commands.
captureage reads everything from the basegame running in background, speeddifference is impossible on a technical lvl. note though that the steam hd edition uses gamespeed 1.5 as "normal" while voobly uses 1.7 where all competetive games are played
I think its weird that we can't use the same word too frequently. Like who made that rule? We already have one of the hardest languages already- Why are we playing on impossible difficulty setting? I experienced a good experience with this video
@@nbrain1595 Thanks for the reply! Cool to hear it was deliberate. I think it´s because I am sick and lying in my bed with an angle already to look at the screen, then having this thin line in the bottom strains my eyes to look so far down. Hey T90 ! I'd love that capture age move the statistic a bit more left to left room to put back the twitch chat, I really enjoy having it to read a bit in slow moments of the game :)
this wasnt a twitch stream, but we could generate some fake chat in the future? :P
kidding, u can see the score being relatively high up? we left space there for chatoverlay during the actual hc2 tourney
Cool game. Just one question though: why do so many players skip building walls?
Noticed that when you were clicking some of the longbowmen, they would say the Spanish military lines, Presto, Si, ETC. Probably something with capture age that you may want to report.
It might be when the other player is selected that it uses their civ's sounds. But khmer aren't Spanish speaking I think right? So maybe not
yes we noticed on the HC2 livestream actually. everyone missed it the many hours of testing :D
So nice to see the Armor on the building. and the upgrade that their research show fixed on the bottom. 2 days to HC2 v^^
Didn't even see the building armor before. That's amazing, I was always curious how much they have!
@@Orkimtor were glad u like it :P
The one thing I miss, I seeing the nationality of the players
This is a good point. Maybe they'll incorporate it in a later version
I do have some things going on these next few days but my alarm is set for 6 a.m. tomorrow. :)
How did you delete the farm at 50:26?
Loving your yt channel. Try twich and... HD? Am I to dump or is that stream really in HD?
no? should be full hd as allways
Whoop, like the updated fog of war, great work! \o/
were glad than
@@nbrain1595 Thanks for the effort!
I'm assuming this is something thats easy to tweak in Capture age, but its pretty hard to see the gold and stone on the light coloured minimap background
thx for the feedback
Is it possible to get the economy view on the mini map? Makes find the rest gold more easy.
CaptureAge supports Dual fog of war, so that is an option for T90 :)
There's a lot of information crammed together with the same sort of representation which makes it harder to pick one thing out.
well were trying our best to make this at least better than the normal classic ui with spec table. but our main focus is on the live streaming PC experience for now. sadly we have limited time
ok, Capture age is epic
I'd love to play AoE with capture age. The zoom out function would be amazing.
does CaptureAge work for only 1v1s? i wonder if there is going to be information overload from too many players too many overlays can block the game
The text on unit HP/ugrades is much better!!! Thanks!
The only thing I miss with CaptureAge is not having the replay of the twitch chat on your youtube vods. Other than that everything looks great.
this wasnt a twitch stream, but we could generate some fake chat in the future? :P
capture age is beautiful
I have now said "that's fine T90" out loud.
What happend to the replay feature you used once or twice a long time ago? To review snipes are hype moments live in the game? Does CA have one, too?
I think that's just using render delays in OBS, it's really impractical to use. Replay stuff isn't the highest priority atm for us but we're definitely interested in trying to do that at some point.
This UI is amazing
thx
Hey @T90Official Do you think your gameplay would be different if you could play zoomed out? For me it looks like it would make walling WAY easier when you once uncovered parts of the map.
as well as pressuring certain points of enemies
The interface and the zoom in particular are gorgeous!
were happy u like it :P
Would be nice to see an overlay of created military units
Hey Hey people. Is Zero Empires still active? I havent seen any new veideos on hin channel.
Are all of the matches going to be on YT?
Well, in ealier video I said that I like old spectator more, but right now I'd probably go with capture one :P. With classic fog of war and no smooth zoom in/out it feels a lot more like original :). I just can't to get used to other interface layout yet, but it's probably a matter of time. Great job anyway. Can't wait it to get the interface with AoE2 skin :P
were glad u like it
The CaptureAge mod needs a colour changer to get around the health problem. So if you could change the colour of the player in the CaptureAge, that would be cool.
Good example of a war that would have ended in a truce IRL. Both sides exhausted.
Is it possible to show unit stats when u select a bunch of them, especially when they are the same type, easier to follow how the units fair with that
yea we where thinking about that, mainly we didnt have time yet
HPbars in red/blue color is imo so much better than the standard green/red. It just takes a bit to get used to but dearlord what do i hate the people that dont share this wonderfull ap to not use myself. really really sucks.
Edit: The hate was in jest. The tone gets lost easy online.
Again goodjob on the castingfront man, keep it going!
well hating us for not releasing unfinished software to the public will not make this happen faster :D
@@nbrain1595 i hope you understand it was in jest, as such a thing is awesome to use! I understand it completely but it just sucks for me/others but again, you should (dont!!) feel bad about it!
now i do, might have been slightly drunk when i did the first time :D were glad u like it though
I wish there was a button to show the market prices without clicking a market. maybe a pop-up when a certain price drastically changes (for example stone price dropping or increasing by 30%)
I love Capture age
were glad u like it
The new UI would be even better, if the names with the score on the right side where further down, right above the gray bar at the bottom. Right now, they are awkwardly hovering in the middle of the screen.
You'll see that that gap has been left for twitch chat during HC2. These recordings were offline so the chat would've just been empty or filled with random commands.
nice addition for capture age
Does capture age render faster? Or do you just have the speed up?
captureage reads everything from the basegame running in background, speeddifference is impossible on a technical lvl. note though that the steam hd edition uses gamespeed 1.5 as "normal" while voobly uses 1.7 where all competetive games are played
I was essential! Go t90!
In the lower right corner what is the g% and value?
value = ressource cost of a players current army, %g is how much of that is gold -> captureage.com/faq/
It looks like this new version of captureage is a lot less floaty.
I think he just used the smooth movement less, there's a ton of movement options though ;)
when does hidden cup stream start in UK?
roughly 13:00.
This game showed Hera the power of Traps
In Capture Age we trust!
What happens to the interface if you have more than 2 players ?
this is strictly designed for 1v1. we are thinking of making a different ui layout for more players
45:20 the militia... now dead, but not forgotten!
Wow i got here early. Cant wait for the Stream T90 o/
I think its weird that we can't use the same word too frequently. Like who made that rule? We already have one of the hardest languages already- Why are we playing on impossible difficulty setting? I experienced a good experience with this video
Am I the only one who like all the resources in the top of the screen instead of the bottom? I feel like it´s more natural to look up there.
yes many are used to that, but we want to change that :P we wanted to avoid cutting of gamespace both top and bottom. but nothing is final or anything
@@nbrain1595 Thanks for the reply! Cool to hear it was deliberate. I think it´s because I am sick and lying in my bed with an angle already to look at the screen, then having this thin line in the bottom strains my eyes to look so far down. While as if I were watching this on my TV it would be just fine :).
