Glen, you should have a channel reading scary campfire stories, your voice is so gentle and calming.😂 but, don’t stop doing hiking videos, absolutely amazing.
Came down that route early last monday after eagle crag, sergeant crag, high raise and ullscarf. Was a bit damper when we came down! Look forward to that video next week! Keep up the great content
Lovely walk and beautiful scenery, looked a bit Lord of the Rings in places, stunning. You take really good photos, all amazing. Thanks for your work or should I say walk😊🌳☘️.
What a great video! The little scenes where you scratch the lamb’s head, reuniting the cute lamb with her mum, and running into that sweet lady who just turned 82 really elevated your hike with stunning scenery into something very special! Thank you for taking us on another fantastic hike!
I’d never be able to do that walk uphill so thank you for sharing it with those of us who will never do it , omg so so beautiful that words can not describe it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
New...ish subscriber here and can I just say this has to be my favourite video so far and I have seen a few....the scenery and the video footage you have captured and spent time doing is simply breath taking and beautiful...thank you so much, absolutely wonderful xxx
Even in rain, there is comfort in it and beauty. The silence of you walking between the ferns and hearing the wind is so blissful. Walking within nature to my ears. This is where I would love to be. Not the same as being there I know but your video captures it completely. The rocks on the summits have been there for ions, and you are treading the past and history. Then to land up in a pub for that nectar must be bliss.
Hi BC many years ago when I was knee high to a grasshopper we came on holiday to the lakes and we went on a Mountain goat tour one of the destinations was the Bowderstone !!!. The story went that the stone was brought to It's resting place by a glacier apparently the stone is made up of a type of rock that's only found in Scotland as a small kid I found this awe-inspiring. Just thought I'd let you hear the story I was told I remember the day for two reasons there was a french lady who decided to go for a wander on her own making the mountain goat driver short on time and inadvertently ruining the day for everyone else on the tour B---- !!!. Anyway excellent vlog keep up the great work cheers...Mike.
Wonderful film Glenn 👏 I did Grange Fell last year, and what a beautiful place. That walk up Troutdale, although, as you say, quite slippery, is stunning! Have always loved the Watendlath area 👌 The Bowder Stone is a great place to hotch* on to and sit eating your sarnies with a great view up to Castle Crag. *Agree standing on it would be sketchy!
Hello from across the big pond, just wanted to say thank you for making my treadmill walk much more pleasant watching this video made me feel like I was taking a stroll through the countryside. So again thank you for the hiking videos makes my treadmill walks much more pleasurable 😊👏👏
I did a similar walk back in March this year, got off the bus for the Bowder Stone. I came around to Kings Howe from the stile you showed before the Bowder Stone, but alas I missed out going up Kings Howe (definitely going to go back), then on to Grange Fell. I crossed over the Bridleway to Great Crag instead of heading to Watendlath, down to Dock Tarn. Descending down the woods back to Rosthwaite for a quick pint at the Scafell Hotel then onto Castle Crag finishing at Grange. Just over 10 miles walked. Once again cracking video
Really enjoyed this one ive watched it twice. The views, the walk and most definitely the photography. Thsnk you for doing what you do. Ive done this walk but this makes me want to go again. Its a very special place.
Brilliant video as always Glenn, magical little hills that I’m yet do do. Need to make sure I din5 bump in to Ticky Tom mind! 🤣 Thanks for sharing as always, cheers Dave. 😀🥾⛰
Have to agree it's a stunning view, was up there in June & didn't want to leave.I did Eagle crag & Sergeants crag too a few days later so looking forward to your vlog of that walk too.
Looks great would never of known to go there. not been to the lakes for a while , last time I was there was filming in Whinlatter and didn’t get much actual walking in, and whenever I do always seem to end up doing a variation of Scafell, ! must get up there soon and do this one. Nice film , informative and pics too. 👍
Superb as per Glenn. By the way you are right about the steps that you can UP. I did go down them in torrential rain after doing a big walk, sketchy is not the word!! Not sure how I didn’t end up in Lancaster A&E😳 Keep em coming matey👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻⛰️
Glen you really are different class. Your love of the outdoors, especially the LD cones through so powerfully. And long may it continue for all of us. Thank you so much. 👌🙏🤞
Glenn, loved the video, we have holidayed in Rosthwaite several times over the years and have done Kings How, Brund Fell, Castle Crag and Watendlath (fortunately we had cash with us when we went to the tea room) a few times. So your video brought back a lot of happy memories. Thank you for sharing, keep up the good work. Regards Kevin.
Great video, as always, Glenn. I did the Grange Fell route last Saturday and today got up Eagle Carag and Sergeant Crag. Looking forward to next week's video.
Hi Glenn, I've just found your channel and I'm absolutely blown over by the beauty of the Lake District and your amazing videos. Now just to decide what photo prints and T shirts the wife and I want from your website. :) We are yet to do the Lake District, so your videos will be very helpful. Thank you.
no matter what the weather ..brilliant videos..and absolute stunning from kendal castle to skiddaw and in any direction..we went there last september...loved it,.keep up the great vids/walks...
Hi glen thanks so much for this and all the great videos you make. The link to the os route is not working when trying to get the route up on the os website. Regards Andrew.
Thanks to you I have promised to take my 8 year old grandson up Kings How. We did Binsey a few weeks ago. He has done 25 Wainwrights thankfully mainly with his mum. Your videos are inspiring and captivating. Thank you
Beautiful Borrowdale💚💜 looking forward to the next one as interested to see how eagle crag and sergeant crag turn out. I've heard the route is a bit awkward. The in-vlog photos were lovely to see. Can't wait to get back there in August, even though I went against all my principles and booked in school holidays 🙈
Really enjoyable vid, thank you. Went camping at Stonethwaite a lifetime ago, it brought back memories. Shame the Langstrath Inn was shut, served a nice pint of old Peculiar if I recall!
Did Kings Howe back in April and watching this just brought back the elation of getting up there and seeing those views. One of my favourites for sure. And absolutely fantastic photographs. ❤
Excellent walk , when we were last there a lovely old couple showed us how you can hold hands underneath the Bowder Stone from either side to show you love each other. They had in their younger years walked all over the fells, but were too old to do so now. Such a lovely storey we said we would share it , so there you go. Hold hands underneath the stone with your loved one !
I really love watching your videos, they are so calming and relaxing. Feels like I’m outdoors going for a calm walk with fresh air, it’s amazing. Thankyou for all the hard work!
Cheers Pal. i've been eagerly awaiting the next instalment.. I'm up in Borrowdale this week doing Eagle crag, Sargent's Crag, Ullscarth and Great Crag. Camping at Stonethwaite so i'll be in the (closed) pub Friday and Saturday evening if you are about and fancy a bevvy . I'm in great Langdale the week after wild camping to tick off some more Wainrights
Kings Howe is so underrated and one of the most amazing places I've been in the lakes....and I've never bumped into anybody up there but shush....don't tell everyone. Honestly I've climbed all the big boys but the best views are always lower down. Love the photos. Hars to get bad shot on kings howe.
Loved every moment of that walk! THANKS FOR SHARING! Scenery changing every moment.. so much to take in. You even gave us some ZEN time! I do love it when you camp because YOU love it so much. Take care from the USA making me wish I lived in Scotland LOL.
Loved your hike up to Kings how and enjoyed seeing Watendlath again, such a lovely place. The swaying cotton grass makes the heart sing. Thanks Glenn, that was great.😁
Rewarding video thanks greatly. Could be your best yet..I think you’ll have encouraged many folk to try this route for the first time. I’ll certainly keep it in mind if I ever get chance to visit the Lakes again. Not sure the 3 second video sequences work well for this beautiful walk deserving of a more leisurely appreciation of the route .All in the eye of the beholder I suppose 😊 Nonetheless once again you’ve given us an excellent and enjoyable amble in the Lakes …
Loved this one! So beautiful! You mentioned Keswich earlier in the vid, an old friend of mine is from there. To think he has places like this so close by, i'm jealous! 😂 also i'm surprised to see so much fern! If they're similar to the ones we get here, i'll probably be harvesting young shoots along the way hahah. We call those "paku pakis" and "midin". Sad ole Ticky Tom.. I read that story with your voice in my head 😂. Cheers from Borneo❤
Lovely video Glen, we did this walk in the opposite direction in the early Autumn last year (without High Crags and Bowder bit but came back along river under Castle Crag - one of our favourite paths) and its was so treacherous coming down from Kings How, it took us ages (stunning with autumn leaves here, would recommend doing at this time of year for certain)! Beautiful area and so much to explore! The cafe is lovely at Watendlath, especially in late autumn and they do a big pot of hot chocolate to drink in the garden with all the delightful birds joining you! Hogs Earth area also very lush and beautiful further along towards the lake, worth a visit too by walking north from cafe below road following the stream into woods and down into Hogs Earth area before popping out above Ladore Falls region - gorgeous! You cant go wrong in any direction here, in fact getting a bit lost is even more fun seeing where you end up, as you cant go to far off course in this lovely valley! Wainwright said this area was the most beautiful square mile in the district! Nuff said hey! Cant wait for next walk to Sergants and Eagle Crags - been wanting to do these now for some time!! Great work!
Thank you for a glorious video of such beautiful scenery , and lovely people. I just shed a tear at what I miss so much , living down south... thank you 😊
Really love Kings How it's a great wee viewpoint just a delightful path through silver birch I was wondering how bad the bracken would be this time of year , can't believe the heather is in bloom now 👍
Well yet another cracker it makes me smile to join you on your walk yet sadden because age and fitness makes it impossible to follow your footsteps. Just keep the vids coming please.😊
Hi Glenn, new subscriber. I have been binge watching your video's you know the lakes so well why don't you write a book and include all your beautiful photos. Finn would be on the cover! She is the most gorgeous ,well behaved little furface. I love her to bits!
I have to say, a coffee table book with awesome photos and some nice text, not too serious, but from your personal perspective, would, in my humble opinion sell well. I’d certainly pay decent money for it 🙂 You could even see if the Herdy shop wanted to stock it 😇
Thanks for watching, folks!
