Nice one. Back in the 80's I took my normal downhill skis to Alexandra Palace in London. Did 3 or 4 runs down the South facing front. It was fun, but, the walk back up was less so......
Great video. Back in the late '70s, I skiied al the way down to Red Tarn on Telemark type skis. There was much more snow and I did a lot of traverses although the line looks similar. I think I came a very long way along the ridge to Helvellyn and there was skiable snow above 300m. Your kit looks pretty good although I think it's better for short up-and-down skiing than for longer Lake District touring which used to be possible on lighter nordic kit. Finally I've seen too many skiing and climbing accidents please consider wearing helmets.
A great way to wreck an expensive pair of ski's. I was surprised that you had so little damage to the skis and the skiing did not look too bad overall.
Should have gone over to Whiteside and then to Raise. A ski tow, button is in place just below the summit. " of us walking up there when a guy comes over the summit at raise wearing ski boots. Mate and myself looked at each other during that WTF moment not realising that, not sure of the name, but either Hellvellyn or Lake District ski club have a poma tow there. We both ski but the walk from Glenridding with all the gear, nope. Cool vid though!
Great video. Constructive feedback for your partner: More of a sliding action of the feet when skinning as opposed to lifting/stepping to save a lot of effort/energy.
No mate we’re lucky to get a few days like this a year. Mild climate just brings typically wet winters to our small ‘mountain’ range, so got to make the most of it when it snows 👊
Nice journey but please never ever do this again without a helmet. I'm a 40 year old expert skier who spends minimum 40 days of a year on Swedish-Norwegian mountains. You should ALWAYS have your helmet on you when you do something like this. Be safe and enjoy these lovely mountains, mate.
Really ? Everyone I know who takes LMNT supplements is spending a lot of money on other forms of nutrition such as very high-quality food. Why would I bother making this when I get it delivered monthly and hardly even notice the cost. Because I’m spending so much on high-quality for instance meet. People take these supplements because they understand about their health and are willing to spend money on it. It would be a poor use of time, I’d spend it fermenting my old vegetables. That saves 10x.
Izzy skiing on that without a helmet is madness with all that exposed rock
Yep
Yep... Schumacher sadly needs to be benchmark here!
I learnt to ski at Glenshee in similar conditions in the late 80s.
Once you can ski those conditions, anything in the Alps is nothing
As an oooold skier please ask the young lady to wear a helmet. I’ve seen too many people suffer serious head injuries.
I think she’ll be wearing one going forward mate
Helmets aren't engineered to stop serious head injuries.
Good call. Only need to think of Schumacher that there's a risk still. Wearing one might well save your life.
Same as on a motorbike.
@@Benzkneesshut up 😂
@@MarkJenkins-t7y - Funny that, I always get the same reaction from helmet cultists when I present them with the inconvenient truth🙉,
Bloody lovely! U both awesome!
I love the adventure. Great video and congrats for getting out there and living life!
Nice one.

That’s pretty cool to say you’ve skid in London! Class
Yes mate in the 80s we skied at Ally Pally, we even had a motorised rope tow set up once or twice. Working at the ski slope there till it closed.
Looked like an amazing day out. There’s a ski tow up by Raise and Sticks Pass - not far from Hellvelyn - walk in from Glenridding.
Was a belter! Aye it was closed Monday mate, we only had the morning off work so went up from swirls car park as it’s a bit quicker
This is wonderful. Bravo.
Thanks mate!
@@joedickson987 The only other account I can remember of English ski-ing was Rory Stewart Langlaufing in Cumbria.

Thanks for the advice and yes I will be wearing a helmet next time :)
This popped up on my youtube feed. What a great little watch! Ive subscribed. Ps You are both crazy. 😁
Sick!! Being a London skier I've got to do this!
Get it done! Keep an eye on the forecast and hope for a good weather window!
fantastic video, im housebound for the moment and miss skiing with every. ounce of me! so jealous
Nice video! I didn't know it was possible to ski in England proper. BTW, skiing is always _all about timing_ , even in the Alps.
Great effort!!
I feel I gotta do this once in life just to say I've skied the lake district, honestly the views are quite nice too
Got to be done! Can have some great days up here if you get the window

Love this!
Very pretty but coming from Australia it's fair to say I won't be flying over the Alps to ski here!
Haha yep I don’t blame you mate!
Bruchharsh! (you need a more aggressive style on it) good fun though.

Class! makes me happy to see people out there just doing mad sh1t :-)
Well done, not easy - either walking up or skiing down.
Looks nice 👍❄️
Smashing.
Helvellyn... Meribel of the North!!
Legends!
Ah, I see you're still rocking the bent pole, sweet.
More snow than here in Austria where I am at, though :(
It’ll snap soon I reckon! Ahh mate hope you get some in Austria soon. All gone here now too
@@joedickson987 I hope till April we get some, because then I go to the higher mountains for a week 🤟

great video !!! but not selling it to me , think ill stick to grass skiing in the alps 😉 but good on ya 👊
I don’t blame ya! 🤣
Hmm. Wonder whether blades, compatible with mountain boots, would fare well.
Be worth a shot!
Epic
Incredible views, but that is a lot of effort for some substandard skiing conditions.
Ayeee lots of effort but always a buzz to ski at home!
That's all we've got!
Nice vlog but why not Raise ?
Prefer to ski other lines up there mate! Raise wasn’t running that day either
So is this early season, do you get more coverage later on? Looks a bit like our late October early November but either way looks fun to ride🤙

Type 2 skiing? You do it not to be doing the skiing, but to be able to say that you did the skiing?
Still did it just for the skiing! You never know what you're going to get walking up a lakeland fell but always worth a try
I see now why they don't call it the Snow District
Wait! No avalanche transceivers? No pit tests? lol!
A lot of sharks.
She should be wearing a helmet…….remember Schumacher. Great fun though 😁
He was wearing a helmet
I should have been wearing one yes! Not going to forget it next time ;)
Crazy bat-shit! Looks like fun tho. Look after your eds with helmets tho

Especially given the number of rocks on the run!
I love snowboarding, but that looks extreme, save a bit of money
Really don't fancy that
Very brave but miserable...a case of the sight of snow to overcome the skiing blues😭
Go for it....why not apart from the walk up up but PLEASE where a helmut!! Basics! Especially through rocks!🤦♂️
Yep I should've been wearing one but forgot it this time. Please have a read of other the other comments I have replied to!
defo a pub ski run..... ski's you don;t give a **** about anymore. good effort
ig theres no avalanche risk so theres that
Very low avalanche risk
Just a high risk of core shots!
Well done, I skied the face a few years ago but not caught it in condition since - that said I leave 3.5 hours away 😂
#rentalskis
Join the Tories. They're going downhill fast.
Jerry with no helmet
That whole experience was so exciting! But the howling and yelling really put me off! Why? I guess it’s a cultural thing.
Answer to the question not as good as in France
Correct!
Loud shouting grates.
Doesn't look like fun to me.
Looks like UK skiers are terrible at skiing. No surprise I guess. #Fish&BuckTeeth
wear a helmet
Cool idea, but I think we all know the answer. It’s crap.
