Excellent! You don’t see too many sims with projection. I’ve been using projector for 9 years. I’m currently rebuilding my sim as a single seat. Gonna be almost exactly like your rig. 👌😎
Amazing set up! Im an ex commercial pilot who for various reasons spends more time flying simulation than real flying. you have inspired me to look into building my own cockpit, though the problem is I fly, used to fly such a diverse range of different types, perhaps modular plug in controls might be the answer? multi engine and aerobatic machines etc!
Nice setup. I am just starting to build mine. It will be a Cessna 182 sim that mimics my own Cessna 182 as closely as possible. I will be using X-Plane and Air Manager along with the fantastic Arduino interface Air Manager has for rotary encoders and such.
That is alot of time, hard work and money you put into this! I wanted you to know your hard work is appreciated !!! Thank you for sharing. I just found your channel today and subcribed 10/07/17 ! I am amazed at what you have done !
Still one of the most amazing cockpit designs I have seen. Friendly concern, I hope this strip lights don't get too hot?? Foam can be very badly behaved around heat (it looks like LED so prob not an issue). Please keep up your excellent videos, I have added a link to your channel on my own as I think you deserve as many views as possible :-)
I have 4 questions for you. 1) How did you hook up all the electrical stuff for the instruments and the panel. 2) Where did you get your designs for the sim? 3) A little suggestion, but could you do a series on where you build a flight sim and split it up into different videos to show how to make a sim? 4) Where did you get all your parts and instrument gauges? If you see this comment, thanks for reading, and respond as soon as possible.
First off excellent job Very creative. If you have time and don't mind can we get a tour of the gauges? I would like to see the six pack but especially the G 1000 and the GTN 750 it would be nice to see what kind of functionality they have in the simulator.
Hi, I’m looking to upgrade the visuals in my sim and I’m impressed and intrigued with what you have done. I like the idea of putting monitors on the right and left walls rather than using a projection system that wraps around. My question is: Do you get a smooth view when you pan from the front screen to the side, or is there a change in continuity and depth perception? THX… your comments are appreciated… Joey
Nice video . Do you have FPS losses with your projector view? I would like to make the front view with a big TV. I hope this goes. I have a NVidea with surround 4 monitors I have now.
Hello. I love your setup and am looking to make one almost exactly based on your setup. However, I have a couple of questions: 1. If you were to do it all over again, would you recommend creating a panel with two tablets instead of one tablet and FIPs to give more flexibility or the current setup is better? 2. Instead of a projector, I would like to use a large 4K Curved TV screen in front. With the distance that you have in front and to ensure you don't have a gap on the left or right what would be the right size TV? Love your videos and thanks for putting all of this information on your website.
Hi...Wondering if the guide is out yet? I have completed the frame but am having a bit of trouble with the INSIDE of the enclosure as far as the corrugated plastic....just cant get things to line up right....Im a better PILOT than a builder I suppose... :)
Excellent job mate. Im gonna build a piper warrior cockpit soon for my 10 year old son so he can practice until hes 14 when he takes his first lesson. Did you use a single pc? Is it smooth?
Hey there, On The Glideslope... I've got a similar build I've been working on but only have the front projector at the moment no side panels, my question is do you find the projector is able to provide a good quality image or similar to the 1080p screens you have? Thanks for all the awesome vids dude much appreciated and I will be posting mine also in the near future 🤘
hello my friend. i really love your channel. i am also a licenced single engine pilot, but since i moved to Europe , i sadly didn't fly anymore. Lived in New Jersey and went to Gibson air academy and flown cessnas and pipers. i want to start building my own home personal SIM and would like to know, to work with xplane what is the minnimum specs needed regarding computer hardware. not something top of the line....but just what is enough. thanks a lot
OTG - In the tour you called your side monitor a "tv"... are they literally tv's or monitors? The reason I ask is that I'm concerned about them being so close, and wonder if the difference would matter. Thanks for all the info. Really enjoy your videos and website. With the release of the 1080ti, I'm jumping in.
Go for it! They are really TVs. LED HD ones I got at the local Best Buy. Cheapest 1080p ones I could find that had a flat base. They were like $139 each.
Hi nice setup! Just wonder what you used for the white bit around the monitors and also what the backboard for all of the instruments is made out of. Thanks!
Hey captain ! How do you set up your views for the wings ? What's your settings for the view ? Do you have to calibrate you view settings everytime you fly? Thanks I really love your simulator captain ! Great job
They are actually little business-class packets that were given to me on an American Airlines international flight. Open they work fine as pockets, and I just drilled them into the side of the cabin.
Thank you for your amazing work and sharing all of this! May I ask you, how do you manage 3 displays on for the outside view plus additional displays for your cockpit. Do you have a tipp how to run 5 displays with one PC? Maybe I overviewed it, but I would be very thankful for a tipp how to run the three outside screens plus a G1000 which is using 2 displays, too. Thanks for all your work, you are the blast!!! I can't login on Wordpress to contact you, Wordpress doesn't allow new registrations at the moment..., that's why I am writing here. Thanks a million!
Four are plugged into the 1080ti card, and one (the GNS430 GPS) is plugged into the motherboard's onboard video card. In my bios I activated both cards.
Hi, I'm looking at your GPS (4:33), it carries an original frame, I have a JPEG that substitutes this one and it's just the image ... if I want to, I'll also have a cockpit of the c172
Beautiful setup man. One day I'd like to build something like this. Does this setup work with any planes other than a C172? What would happen if you tried to fly a Piper or Mooney? What if you wanted to fly a B737?
I can configure it to fly any plane presuming I can find the gauges. I fly a C172, PA28-161, PA32, and Baron 58 already. With a 737 I can't get the windows to line up, but I can fly it.
I am wanting to do a cockpit similar to this to use with the G-seat I built. I was going to make the seat 2dof for VR, but am really thinking I want a real cockpit. Where can I find the dimensions of this one? Specifically width, and window size. What size monitors for the windows did you use?
Really great setup... Thanks for the tour! I'm trying to decide between Air Manager and RemoteFlight. Do you have any pros/cons for them? Looks like Air Manager is much more flexible in the panel setup.
Is I ok to have the 100” screen that goes beyond your vision range. It looks like it goes with the window tv’s very well. Once you step back and look at the sim you see how big the projection screen is. It just looks like there’s more to see but the view is cut off by the windows. Could you go with a smaller windshield screen than a 100”?
I tried to build a cockpit using your specs which worked great but i fell short with a projector i nought. What's your thoughts on a 55 inch tv for the front instead? It'll have to be flat unless x-plane can 'tilt' the forward view.
I visited your website and cockpit scheme is great! thanks for a good job! can you help with dimentions of room (not exact, just around) with forward screen and spaces between. l wanna make same and wonder if it fits my room, especially by height.
I build one like yours using the schematic on your website, many thanks for the helps! i founded out thatthe rudder pedal are a bit to close to me and i was thinking about to add a small room for the legs to push forward the rudder, what do you think?
I can turn the knob on the iPad screen, but that's a bit awkward so I assigned one of the knobs on one of the Saitek FIPs to adjust it as well. I did that in SPAD.neXt.
Flight Illusions states that their audio panel is not fully compatible with X-Plane. Have you seen any issues. I'd like to get it as it closely resembles my real life audio panel, but I'd need it to work in X-Plane. Thanks!!
Amazing cockpit Sir, I have made mine based on the same design. One question though, that is driving me crazy, using the single projector for the front view, and since it's a dual seat cockpit, your eyes are not in the center of the projection, they are on the left or on the right...so you get a "distortion" that it's not realistic at all, it seems you're constantly flying sideways (parallax effect in a way). How do you resolve this issue? I'm already using 0.3 zoom and fsx doesn't have more. Thanks :D
Nuno Nunes Good point! With mine, it was awkward, especially if I moved to the right seat. I think the brain adapts to the offset. My new single seat sim won’t have that issue.

The G1000 app in the Apple App store will run both on two iPads, though I don't use it. And the X-Plane talks to ForeFlight easily - you just enter the IP address of the tablet in its network screen.
hi, very nice, please help me, i have xplane 11 and saitek fip and a iwant the wet compass as you have, i already have the fsx times gauge of the wet compass but i don´t know how it works and what program do i need, please help me and excuses for my bad english, what do i need to install it? Looks very great! Thanks for your presentation! I have three questions: 1.) What is the model/type of projector you use? 2.) Which resolution are you running on both, the projector and the side screens? 3.) Do you use a special canvas for projection? If you've already answered these questions in a different video and if it's easier for you, just send me the link, please. Thanks a lot!
do you think a 65 inch curved tv would work ok for the front windshield....The wife is not thrilled with me getting a projector and screen just for the sim.....:(
I say get the sim you can have not the one you wish you could have. You'll have a very good view with 65 inches, especially if it's close to the screen. My viewing angles for an unobstructed view from both chairs is probably 75 inches, but I say err on the side of having a sim AND a happy wife ...
OTG, it looks like you’re using the FlightIllusion radios. I just set up the transponder and auto pilot but can’t get the Ident button working in X-Plane. Does yours function correctly, and if so, do you know the fix. Thanks Dominick
It did not used to. FI updated their software, and many things that used to not work now do. I don’t recall if the ident button works in XP now or not. I don’t think it does, and I seem to remember I had to code one of my FIP buttons to be the ident ...
Excellent! You don’t see too many sims with projection. I’ve been using projector for 9 years. I’m currently rebuilding my sim as a single seat. Gonna be almost exactly like your rig. 👌😎

Very nice clear, both audio and visual, presentation. Great encouragement for me to get going.
Thanks. Definitely keep going!
Good to see someone take the hobby seriously

this is so cool! well done mate :)
Awesome Design / Setup. Keep it up!
Thanks. Will do.
Great video. One day I'll be sending again
Awww the cute liddle Key-Boréd 😁😁
OMG magnifique cockpit it's in your garage? bravo pour votre travail de fabrication du cockpit
Merci beaucoup!
Fantastic' I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for posting!
Thank you.
You inspire (and teach) me. Many thanks.
I’m thinking about going the VR route, hoping that it will save some coin. Saitek Combat pedals arrive in a few days.

Again, awesome job dude. When are you coming to my house to build this? Got money and lots of beer.
Thanks. I'll be right over!
I really enjoy all you’re videos thanks for all the ideas on how to build one, quick question how tall it is on the inside?
Hi,
Amazing setup ...side monitor spec
i think you sim one of the best ive seen nice cockpit lighting colours and good designwhat projector is that its so close to the screen ??
Thank you. It's an Optoma EH320UST ultra-short throw projector
Cool job 😊👍
Great video. What's your view on force feedback yokes? Did you ever consider one before buying the Yoko?
Excellent job mate. Im gonna build a piper warrior cockpit soon for my 10 year old son so he can practice until hes 14 when he takes his first lesson. Did you use a single pc? Is it smooth?

Hello from the year 2023 (it suck here BTW....)
Still using your sim?

hey! good job. i have only a question: how do you connect three monitor?
Specific graphic cards have more than 1 hdmi slot or just buy 2 graphics cards and use some counter to make them 1
Hi nice setup!
Just wonder what you used for the white bit around the monitors and also what the backboard for all of the instruments is made out of.
Thanks!
Hi. Panel is made out of 1/4 inch MDF. The trim around the windows is automotive trim.
The magic ... revealed !!!
Great !!!
The Wizard is sitting behind the screen ...
Awesome! thanks for your video! What is the model of your projector?

Hey captain ! How do you set up your views for the wings ? What's your settings for the view ? Do you have to calibrate you view settings everytime you fly? Thanks I really love your simulator captain ! Great job
Hi Bruno. Go to the "How To" section of the website and there's a lot about those questions there. www.ontheglideslope.net.
Good afternoon. Ver y good vídeo. To keep the documentation in the doors, as you Have done it? Or that material ever made? Thank you
They are actually little business-class packets that were given to me on an American Airlines international flight. Open they work fine as pockets, and I just drilled them into the side of the cabin.
Thank you for your amazing work and sharing all of this!

Hi, I'm looking at your GPS (4:33), it carries an original frame, I have a JPEG that substitutes this one and it's just the image ... if I want to, I'll also have a cockpit of the c172

Can you put out a part by part Id list I had a hard time understanding your description of the wet compass other wise I liked the tour
Please see www.ontheglideslope.net
What angle cut did you use on the front window 2X2's that make up the A pillar so to speak?
How u make these edges?
You still around? Havent seen or heard from you in some time???
Really great setup... Thanks for the tour! I'm trying to decide between Air Manager and RemoteFlight. Do you have any pros/cons for them? Looks like Air Manager is much more flexible in the panel setup.
It is, but RemoteFlight is dead simple to use. I fly with them both about equally.
awesome! wondering.. won't it disturb your eyes with the side screens?
Nope. They look great.
Well done!!! 👍
Love it!!! ... Great Sim!
Thanks much.
Is I ok to have the 100” screen that goes beyond your vision range. It looks like it goes with the window tv’s very well. It fits in about a 10 foot by 10 foot space. The cabin is only four feet wide, but the front screen is 100 inches.
thank you!
thanks for the update on your sim. why is it so difficult to get Saitek tpm? do you know of any other tpm that's on the market?
I believe they stopped making them. There are others. Check out GoFlight.
Excellent.
Are you able to give a little bit more detail on how you did the side TV's.
Go here: www.ontheglideslope.net/
I build one like yours using the schematic on your website, many thanks for the helps! i founded out thatthe rudder pedal are a bit to close to me and i was thinking about to add a small room for the legs to push forward the rudder, what do you think?
That may be a good idea, especially if you have bucket seats. I find I sit quite a bit upright (more like a Cessna).
You need to add to this a Brunner yoke
SO COOL! your so lucky.
Hello! Could please explain the gauges you bought from Fsxtimes for the x-plane 11 default c172? (there are too many options). Thanks a a lot
what is the material called you used on the doors on the inside? Muslin??
This looks seriously amazing.
Random question: how do you set the altimeter?
you turn the knob on the altimeter
(i read that correctly)
I can turn the knob on the iPad screen, but that's a bit awkward so I assigned one of the knobs on one of the Saitek FIPs to adjust it as well. I did that in SPAD.neXt.
And thanks!
Flight Illusions states that their audio panel is not fully compatible with X-Plane. Have you seen any issues. I'd like to get it as it closely resembles my real life audio panel, but I'd need it to work in X-Plane. Thanks!!

Wow, nice!!
will you do flying around england? or just USA?
my home airport is Rochester airport (EGTO)
Thanks for this video
My pleasure.
Nice You really improved your sim and your channel.! Great work and congrats for your videos! Do you think x plane is better than fsx now? Thanks for your answer! :)

Sweet.
Good morning, how can you project the image so close?
Looks very great! Thanks for your presentation! I have three questions:
1.) What is the model/type of projector you use?

Thanks
Dominick
