Well, even though the crossbow uses a crank to draw the cable back (which is a very medieval crossbow design), a modern crank crossbow would be able to draw quite a bit faster. Still pretty impressive though.

50:08 the way he syncs his scream with the protagonist is one of the most perfect moments I've ever seen in gaming streams.
I love the instant karma, every time the doc insults someone who is criticizing him in a note he reads about he gets attacked and killed just about.
For such simple game design, the creator did such an amazing job polishing everything! When mark cranks the cross bow, you can see the string being drawn back in the background from the menu; there are dimples in the spent shell casings from the pin hitting the gunpowder cap like a real gun; cracks in the plastic shotgun shells after they're fired; and when the guns are fired, the flash illuminates the surroundings for a brief second. It really brings everything together.
The attention to detail for such a (seemingly) gamejam-esque game
Yeah i love it when developers take great attention to details it shows they love what they're doing unlike triple a companies these days
Also the developer name is miziziziz (yeah i know wierd name) you should check him out
It's quite simple, if your game is simple you can make alot of details for it, but when it comes to complex games you just sometimes forget about some details

The sound of the guns getting reloaded and dropping the empty bullets is satisfying.
Its simply incredible to me how mark can learn rapidly how exact game mechanics work sometimes, then other times his inability to understand basic clues is infuriating. I love him lmao

I love how this slowly faded away from a horror game and more into a rage game
That's actually one of the difficult design aspects of horror games: The more you understand the problem, the less scary it is. So if a particular area is too difficult, you die and repeat it several times, and each time you have a great understanding of the level, which results in less and less fear, all while at the same time you're getting more and more frustrated, which results in a smooth switch from horror to aggression, which is normally counter to what the game dev wants, because it's really hard to go back from anger to fear again.
So horror games especially have to manage a balance where you're constantly *at risk of failure* but without letting you *actually fail* a single thing more than 3-4 times.

The first big room full of things that can turn into monsters when you shoot them, I kept hoping he would just kill it with fire.

I played this back when the Flare Gun ammo was absolutely MASSIVE
It took up so much space, it was better to just not carry it at all
how big was it?
It took up about as much space as the current Flare Gun ammo along with 2 Shotgun ammo
they also seemed to make the game extremely easy. the big monster and predator enemies took 3x the ammo to be killed in comparison to the video, i'm a little jealous

@@astroblaze_ yeah, that's what happens in horror games where audio is a big part of it. you really need to listen out for every small little noise and so when a sudden (relatively) loud noise happens you immediately go for your defensive strategy, which in this case is grabbing the shotgun.
