Love his Xhosa name...my dad is from Pondor Land in the Transkei and his entire family speaks fluent Zulu and Xhosa...in the Traskie they call him Induna...unbelievable level of respect they have for him.
You are brave - but I'm also glad u did this. Its never an entire community that is the problem, but rather a few who make things difficult for others. Was nice to see just a standard SA community going about life like anywhere else in the country. I wish it was possible to root out the gangs there so that the residents could enjoy more peace. Great job on learning isiXhosa too! Thanks for sharing ❤
Best experience you could ever get when you`ve travelled is to mingle with the locals and get to learn more about the culture and get your own perspective of all the stereotypes you`ve heard before .. I always enjoy watching tour content Noah , umsebenzi wakho mhle bhuti.
In about 1985 I met a German in Cape Town that hitch hiked through Angola during the Civil War. He even hitched rides with Army trucks on both sides of the conflict. Mad.
Respect bro. Not because of your fearlessness, which is definitely something to shout about, but your willingness to let your humanity prevail, in general, and in such circumstances as shown in your video. Thanks!
What is there to fear more over khayelitsha than mannenberg or Soweto or even KwaMashu? The people living in the conditions are fearless. this chop making a video for UA-cam is well protected.
As a German who is currently doing a voluntary service in Botswana I love this video. I've been also visiting lots of local bars and of course people were looking at me a lot and asked for drinks but when they see you speaking a few words in their own language and see that you are interested in the culture and in the way they live they are super friendly. Idk what it is but especially when they see a white guy drinking black label they freak out. So shout-out to my African brothers and sisters I've learned a lot from you.
They are not your "brothers." A lot of them are wild animals who seek to see you eliminated from the face of the Earth, simply because they're jealous of your fairer skin. Bring back separatism.

This is an amazing video! Me as a South African myself, living here is hard, and always in fear. However, videos like these just make me proud of our community that we have built. Even despite of our differences from the past. I seriously thank you for showing the true ways of our people. Together we are one.
Yeah that's where you're destined to live as a black SA while the whites your slave masters are living luxurious lives in your ancestral land and instead of using your energy to liberate yourselves from the whites whom you have been slaves to for centuries rather you channeled that energy for xenophobic attacks on your fellow black Africans. Black SA has no identity
What a great video....see, goes to show you, there are great people all around us, even in "dangerous" neighborhoods....Good on ya mate for getting out and meeting the locals, you looked like you were treated with respect and when someone treats you with respect, always remember to respect others too. Wow, great experience. We lived there for 18 months around 13 years ago and the crime situation have gone almost totally out of control now except for the small areas where the community take a strong position against it. We require a Miracle here, like in the rest of South Africa as well.
@@LeMerch The government does NOTHING to help develop services in these townships and curb crime and instead funds the rich people on the other side of Cape Town and corrupt politicians. So obviously this leads to uncontrollable violence in the ignored areas.
Thankyou Noah got this video. I am from Papua New Guinea in the Pacific. Most times people have negative perceptions about people and places that they have not even met or visited....their perceptions are being influenced by negative media coverage. I wish people like you can visit my country and tell other people how beautiful our country and friendly we are. 🙏
Now this is great not only did it take him 2 years to learn but then to go there and speak the basic n get a warm welcome. This is not just a youtube video, it's what real people look like.. #Proud #Thank you
Thank you for such an enlightening video Noah! It is not often whereby the true stories of our people living in townships are portrayed in their entirety. Keep on sharing the spirit of ubuntu through your content!
So happy about this video I thought it would be negative . This could be anywhere in Africa, Africans are always welcoming even though there's crime and violence for the most part almost every township I've been to all through Africa is friendly and you're treated as family
So interesting to see parts of Khayelitsha from such a friendly, personal and up-close perspective that almost only speaking a native language can bring! I found your channel 30 minutes ago and I am already a subscriber :) Looking forward to what you will do next!
The media shows only a certain part about Khayaletshia and only tell us how dangerous it is. Likewise with the so called coloured areas. Like someone said in a comment - it is never an entire community. It is only some individuals who make things really difficult.
Now that is a Respectful man right there! Thank you for that Noah , from Cape Town , close to Khaya more to Colored area. you are a bruh for life now to these people. Our areas are dangerous , like most other countries but if you enter it with someone who is from the area and has good rep, and explain your reason for being there , you make good friends and have a good time also. I enjoyed this video
Dude as a young South African male from Cape Town, you bought tears to my eyes with this video bro. Keep up the good work - you definitely touched lots of hearts with this content ❤

I love this. Thank you for this bro. The stigma spread by the media about Khayelitsha and most of South Africa's township only paints them in a bad light. So Shout out to you bro. PS: it seems Germans and German speaking people take to isiXhosa. I've worked with a few German students in the past in association with Kolping SA and VPUU, around Site C in Khayelitsha, and they took to isiXhosa quite easily.
You are in my neighbourhood bro , the guy cutting your hair is called “skhokho “ 3:46 … dude can start your haircut and leave you sitting to go get beer but great dude😂😂
I like your videos more than the other ones that seem to focus on the bad in the townships. There is bad in the world but it can be anywhere. Your videos prove being open to listening and learning about other's culture/language breaks down that negative focus. I loved South Africa and found the people there black, white, coloured all very friendly when you meet them with kindness and openness about their lives. Keep doing more videos!
This is an amazing video, I've been to Khayelitsha myself - I used to be there for most of my school holidays visiting family - it gets an extremely bad rep and that's always all people represent of it, the people there are so energetic, friendly and they've made the best of a horrible situation.
This was remarkable to see because it reminds me of how Dad would be in the Xhhosa townships (and on the many other travels we went on in other townships and other places different from home). Thanks for sharing your experiences there🙂😄
Wow....I was smiling throughout the video becoz our people just always show so much love to outsiders I especially love how the one guy articulated that the media will mostly show the bad side/incidents instead of providing a balanced view as all townships have the areas where a lot of lawlessness takes places but equally have areas that are very decent I am South Sotho and I completely agree that Xhosa is a beautiful language
Thank you for honouring our most amazing culture. For making so much difference . I love 20 min away with my family if you ever wish to make a full documentary and have free accomodation. I love your positivity.
