I visited Egypt 20 yrs ago and was harassed to the point that I decided never to return. I see nothing has changed in all these years. Police doesn’t do anything about it either. It’s a shame.
My neighbour (older middle-aged man in his 60s) just came back from Egypt and his spirit is BROKEN. He was scammed by a hotel worker and then blackmailed by the hotel worker’s policeman friend to pay more or he would arrest him. I felt so bad for my neighbour, who is a sweet natured man, single and was mourning the loss of his mother - and wanted to treat himself to a once in a lifetime trip. I have always wanted to see the ancient Egyptian historical sites but I will never step foot in this nightmare of a country. My poor neighbour felt embarrassed telling me, and sounded like he felt in constant fear on his vacation. What an awful country.

Thats actually so sad. But they're not all the same. I got scammed during Ramadan 3 years ago in King Fahd Street in Giza and one of the locals helped me communicate and call the police. The police literally arrived with some army guys and beat up the vendor. They then confiscated all of his products. I honestly felt embarrassed and felt like it was all my fault lol. The street vendor was like a 50 year old man and he literally got beat up by the police officers in the middle of the road in Giza. I was very happy with the way the police dealt with it. They got me my money back and a free fake Versace T shirt which the guy tried to scam me on 🤣🤣

Yep. Almost happened to me too. My friend was molested by the scarf sales staff at the market. We told them not to touch her and they had no fear of us because they outnumbered our tour group of twelve. Worse was security going through my luggage and wallet when I was leaving Eguypt at the airport. They isolated me in a separate section designated for Americans and started going over my things. Be on your guard. A lot of traps.

I have visited Europe more than once…in Spain a friend of mine had his passport and money stolen from the hotel, in Italy another friend has been stolen by pickpocket. In another trip to Europe ( organized tour), we have been told by the tour guide to hide our valuable under the clothes because it can be stolen. i have been living in egypt for nearly 2 years. and there have been many scammers and people, who like talking a lot of crap. But if you get to know some people, they can be very helpful and friendly and kindhearded as well.
I visited my family in Istanbul, Turkey, who had traveled there from Iran. During my trip, a fellow countryman offered me a ride to my hotel. Along the way, he invited me to his home for dinner, but I politely declined several times, saying, "No, thank you." Despite my refusals, he abruptly changed the route, steering onto a remote gravel road. Sensing danger, I acted quickly. In a moment of desperation, I managed to physically confront him. After a brief but intense struggle, I grabbed the car key and threw it onto the ground to buy myself some time. Seizing the opportunity, I ran toward the nearest road, hoping to flag down a taxi and escape the situation safely. I remember being on top of him punching him with all my power.

Interesting video to watch. I am surprised it had a happy ending. I swear, the worst country in the world. I traveled from Saudi Arabia feeling excited to visit Egypt, but I swear, the first scam happened to me at the airport by the airport staff. The amount they scammed me for was small, but it made me feel a greater sense of danger. I thought, if this happened at the airport, what will happen inside the country? I had booked a hotel online, and I was shocked when the room didn't match the pictures on the internet. I immediately changed it. I faced many harassments, especially when they found out I was Saudi. Prices for any product I tried to buy were inflated. I ended up booking a return ticket after just two days and swore I would never go back. There were good people, but unfortunately, the number of scammers was greater. I’m their brother in Islam and an Arab, yet they treated me poorly. Sadly, I came to hate the country, even though I used to love it.
Ugh. Leading you down the primrose path, digging in your food as you're eating, and scamming you besides. Thanks very much for the investigative report! Ill be enjoying the pyramids from the comfort of UA-cam, thanks to you and others' verve with the reports. I'll be watching; safe travels!
If you follow someone you dont know you are begging to get scammed. Just say no thank you and if they insist you can always call the police. Nothing is for free, scammers are everywhere. Also in Brasil.
The Egyptian man, in the end, did not put his hand in your pocket to take money, nor did he force you to buy papyrus. This is just his job and source of income, and he did not take anything from you against your will. In other countries, you see theft and fraud at their most beautiful.
😂😂 when I heard him saying that I laughed so hard, but honestly I love the video it's like a scary and adventure journey.. they literally went into the ghetto where no one else would know the place only the person who's live there.
As someone who worked in NYC for over a decade, this guy is very easy to get around. You just never make eye contact and keep moving. They'll give up eventually. But never engage. That gives them hope and they get worse from there on.
This really sad and shit to see how much those people destroying the country and Egyptians reputation.. i have been working as arabic teacher and dancer and i have friends from all over the world .. they had the best experience here in egypt .. the problem is that these scammers are mostly in tourstic places where the foreigners want to go , so they just get this bad perspective and experience of egypt.. i hope that anyone visiting here can find a local and educated person that he can trust .. to show him how beautiful we are ..
I went to Egypt a lot of times, a lot of scammers but in the end, they are not dangerous, if you planning to travel to Egypt of course you find scammers and that is part of Egyptian culture. However, most Egyptian people have love and kindness that you can't find in whole the Middle East. the best advice to avoid scammers is just to ignore them and Don't make eye contact. Of course, don't be rude. and enjoy Egypt with a happy, amazing and mysterious journey.

tourist touts are always aggressive they want to make you feel helpless and disheartened
I apologize to you, my friend, for what happened to you But every country has good and bad Unfortunately, this fraud occurs because of the poverty that is spreading in the country because of the government If you want to come to Egypt, I will receive you at my home, and I do not want a single dollar. I am Australian, background from Egypt, left Egypt more than 35 years ago .
