    It took me birdsnesting up my slosh to stumble across this video. Ty for making this. It has helped me no end,looks like I'm stripping my reel today.

    Nice one mate, thanks for this, you really helped me. New to multiplier reels and just bought a slosh 30. Sure enough, no blocks fitted. Glad I saw this vid, reckon I'd have been in for a frustrating first time otherwise.

    Some great tips here - especially the oil tip. In my 1970's multipliers we uses 20/50w motor oil to dampen the spools. No brakes on those reels. However the SEA STREAK did have brakes but quite harsh by todays standards. I took it off - one of the most free running spools ever! The later ABU (as you show} have a central spindle with the bearings in the spool. Only snag is the oil from the bearing can get on the brake rim, which kinda defeats the object!

    Fantastic, thank you. Set my SL20sh up out of the box & hopefully no bird's nest when I get on the Bristol Channel!

    If you loose break blocks you can cut pieces off a wd40 red tube , they fit great

    Very informative, unfortunately after following the advice, first time out I had 3 very bad nests but I think it was due to my casting style. I went at it like I did with my old 12 foot fibreglass rod with a new Akios 14 footer..lol

    Great vid. Is tape the only way to secure the line when the reels not in use?? Unlike fixed spool where you have a line clip?

    You just mentioned a problem I'm facing. I got the Abu 6000 with line feed/guide. I been told a shock lead will get caught on it. Some saying not to allow the shock lead to wrap around the spool, but I'm not sure what the point is then of having a shock lead as the weight could still snap the lesser lb line. I don't want to use heavy line only cause then less cast distance. Tapered line looks the best answer so far. Any thoughts you can share bud. I suppose i could remove the line feed, but i like the thoughts of it being on.

    After 4.30 he talks about the "drag" - what does that do ?

    • @therodfather0498
      @therodfather0498 7 років тому

      Niels Dahl the drag controls how much line a running fish will be able to take off the spool, the tighter the drag the less line will be taken. It needs to be set up to B/S of the line you use. Very basic rule if thumb is to tighten drag and then pull off line with your hand. Keep tightening it until you can only just pull the line off (being careful not to slice into your fingers, use a glove or something)
