I was having bad stick drift... to the point some of my games were almost unplayable. I watched this other video where a guy sprayed rubbing alcohol on it while wiggling the stick around, then he took the black circle off and really cleaned it. I found this video before trying that and this worked. I did leave my battery out of it for a few minutes to "let it reset" then when I re-calibrated the left controller there was no drift. worked great.

I actually cracked open my left controller a few months ago to clean the stick with alcohol and it fixed the problem completely... but this seems way easier and just as effective! Wish I would have known about this before haha. Thanks GT!

guys I got contact cleaner and it works less with each use I'm going to try a repair kit next and try to do it myself as long as I watch the video at the same time as I do it I probably will be able to do it but honestly as an American I'm super pissed companies should not be getting away with selling defective products in the land where we're supposed to be protected from companies/kings from selling defective products you see the judges they choose to put are the reason why Facebook it's selling defective products because most likely if we do a class action lawsuit or something the judges will side with them over us that's the part they don't tell you on the news but it is true just like the guy who made this video sounds like he is from Europe and England has a two year warranty per their law and ours gives us a one-year warranty how does an American country give another country a better warranty than its own people a corrupt country that's how

@@GAMERTAGVRI set my deadzone to 100 and I’m still turning frequently
WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner. Take batteries out of controllers for at least 3-4 mins then spray not too much cleaner and rotate the joystick clockwise and counterclockwise. Let dry for 15 min. Fixed bad drift in both my controllers, works like new

@@itisimichael7485 I did use normal WD-40 and it still did work very well and took away all the drift. it might have been a bit risky using normal WD-40 but it worked!
i did it and one day it came back like 3 days later (one time it lasted like 6 probably months)

Sadly because how how screwed up my controller is, it only reduced the problem. My controller still drifts, just not as aggressively.
Mine actually got so bad that it pulls all the way to the right. Gonna try the cleaning fix tonight

The bigger you make it the less sensitivity you will have
Just found out my stick drift after a month and a half was so bad I had to set a 95% dead zone just to move normally, which means I can't walk in games anymore

My joystick has drifting for the last few months.
I used to love playing on my Oculus Quest, but my left controller had SO MUCH drifting.
I have among us VR, and I tried switching to left-handed controls. That helped a bit, but every now and then I would just spin.
I’m hoping this will erase the problem completely.

I used wd40 contact cleaner and it almost fully fixed problem
But i still have issue with when i stop pushing my left controler forowoard it pushes back for a millisecond
Not really big issue since it just helps me stop in place easier

Like the Switch, this is caused by the stick click (L3 and R3 in PlayStation terms) which is deforming the housing of the analog sticks' sensors. Many people will continue to say it is dust and wear of the graphite pads, but the wear is normal and expected, and this is an outdated idea of what the problem is.
You can be more careful while depressing the sticks for the click input (don't mash multiple times), or more ideally, just not use that input if possible.
So maybe playing a lot of echo vr and pressing down on my stick a lot was a bad idea……
So your telling me that I'm just making it worse by pushing down on the joystick as hard as I can and moving it around to make the drift go away?

So I'm just gonna tell everyone about the rubbing alcohol trick:
Remove the batteries, grab a cue tip, get rubbing alcohol, do NOT dab the rubbing alcohol on the cue tip. Instead, squirt the rubbing alcohol into the joystick. Roll the joystick around, pull it, push it. Do it until the rubbing alcohol dries (trust me, it dries fast) what you are basically doing to getting rid of all the gunk inside the sensor that is causing the drift. Once it dries, try it out, If it help a little but not much, do it again.
Does Hand Sanitizer work here too? I’m out of rubbing alcohol
@@buggman6086 i wouldnt try that lol the reason you use rubbing alcohol is because it leaves no residue but hand sanitizer might leave residue behind.

@@Blaketarded turns out I didn’t have hand sanitizer, but after trying to play with drift the controller just kinda fixed itself, so that’s nice
You can also try getting a little eye dropper or something and dripping a drop or two of rubbing alcohol onto the base of the joystick and then wiggling it around a bit. This was the only thing that cleared it up for me for months until one day I put TOO MUCH alcohol in there and my controller started bugging out. So I finally had to buy a new one. Just don't spill a bunch in there.
You have to use wd-40's brand of electrical contact cleaner remove the battery out of the controller spray it directly into the controller till it drips out the bottom. Then operate all contact surfaces move the joystick around press the buttons Etc. Then lay the controller down and let it dry overnight replace battery in your back in business. The electrical contact cleaner leaves zero residue and is safe on all electronic devices

Set my deadzone to maximum, still has stickdrift, it never stays in one spot but majority of the time is all the way to the right

Help so much thanks if this is not working a tip first when you go to dead zone there are two options for set right or left now you have to do both but if you do not want to do both, you can just do the second one and the second one is the one that will help the drift it stop my stick shift right away yes, I like my own comment

Oh my goodness thank you so much. I had drift on my right controller so I couldn’t crouch or smooth/snap turn in any of the games. I used to have drift on both controllers awhile ago and fixed the left one with the power of air but the right one never got a permanent fix.

GET ELECTRONIC SENSOR CLEANER SPRAY. IT IS ALSO CALLED MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR CLEANER. TAKE OUT THE BATTERIES FROM YOUR CONTROLLERS AND DISCHARGE IT BY PRESSING ALL BUTTONS. THEN GIVE IT A LIBERAL SPRAY WITH THE SENSOR CLEANER. MAKE SURE TO GET INBETWEEN THE JOYSTICKS AND DO NOT BE AFRAID TO USE A LOT. IT EVAPORATES IN SECONDS. IT COMPLETELY FIXES IT WITHOUT NEEDING TO TAKE IT APART OR RECALIBRATE.

I didn't know how this calibration worked until now. Before that I tried doing the alcohol thing and then when I got frustrated I threw the controllers across the room and now they finally work.

It helped massively because my stick drift was up on my right around half way to the top
What I did is when I tried your method it did help but it still was drifting so I went to the same page and swapped joysticks but the problem is if I move my joystick up the game makes it go down so if I go right it goes left but I’ve got used to this method for about a day so I recommend using swap joysticks

Thank you bro had the same problem with the left calibration helped so much the least I could do was sub have a good one
So if you put like a drop of some Isopropyl alcohol on the base of the joystick and swerve it around it should fix it, and if you don’t have that you can use some vodka, make sure the abv/proof are relatively high
sometimes the drift is too big, so just apply WD-40 directly to the joystick, you don't need to remove anything, it will fix it

It’s weird because the white dot of my left controller stays perfectly in the centre when I go to calibration, but when I play RE4 the character randomly walks back or to the right from time to time. I tried making the dead zone bigger but it didn’t help. I only own quest 2 for a week and this is annoying af 😢😢😢
