I just want the Omni one instead of the katwalk because it seems like a significantly better design, but the way they keep screaming their "dedicated ecosystem"; don't get me wrong, having an available headset with integrated compatibility with the extremely niece apparatus and an ecosystem designed specifically for it is beneficial, but 99% of people going to buy this already have 1-2 (or more) headsets that they want to use it with. And not everyone is willing to drop $2.6k (almost $3k after shipping) for 1/3 of that to be for a headset (with its own dedicated ecosystem that costs $14/month to play those incredibly small player base games online (the Omni one costs 3 times more than the katwalk, VR treadmills are pretty rare in VR, VR itself is quite uncommon; and most people even thinking about a buy like this are looking to use it with a headset they already have)) they're probably not going to use. I'm not trying to say it needs to drop the headset or the ecosystem (because of details like the integration), but offer a "slimmed down" version that doesn't include the headset at a cheaper price.
that part you said about how it's more exhausting to slip and slide walk then it is to really walk...that seems like a big deal for longevity and immersion for this kind of device

Dump the Peco, add Quest support and charge 2 grand. SOLD. No quest support most likely equals no buy for most VR users. This is DoA without quest support. BTW I am a PC VR user and a Quest user. It's a great product, I believe it will know some success but as many have mentioned in the comments the subscription for online games is getting heavy, with every company wanting to do it. They will have to explain the full benefits of the subscription ti potential clients. I ordered a Meta Quest 3 recently, I will see what accessories I feel are necessary or that I simply want, ounce I've tried it for a while.
Thanks a lot, Jay. I was waiting for your Katwalk review for a while but eventually I got the opportunity to try it out myself. I don't know if Omni is better, but I didn't like it at all. It being overly exerting as you said, but also since you gotta lean forward to get a good slide with your feet (dunno if Omni requires less of this) and also since most games don't show your feet it brought nearly no immersion to me. I loved the cat intervention with the "E!" hahaha.
If this was available for all VR headsets and not just the one it would make it so much better! And they would make so much more money also. I reckon they should work on creating something that will work with any VR and not have the monthly fee and all that. I’d think of getting one of they did that

Okay, my biggest question is how is the turning in it? With Katwalk, you have 2 bars on either side of you, and with Ombi you have 1 bar connected to your back. So how does turning it it feel different from the Katwalks turning.
Mad that we're getting closer & closer to actually being able to completely immerse ourselves in imagined worlds. I remember when this was completely science fiction.
Imu trackers for foot movement? I know one method used is basically an optical mouse sensor in the shoes, be bigger and probably work better if you have the whole shoe to work with instead of a shoe pad. But I really hope they can be used as proper foot trackers
My problems with this product (and no I am not hating on the company this is legit constructive criticism): -If this is oriented to the experienced VR user, they are already going to have their go to VR headset and would not want another when using with a VR threadmill (especially because of cost, money would just be sitting when a VR headset that is doing nothing) -Subscription, just no. I saw in a comment it was mentioned that it was specifically for multiplayer games and by extension for the software that runs all this; but I think that most people (including myself) don't see how a subscription for this is reasonable (maybe it is, but that has to be properly explained), TBH I don't think it is, especially with the going price of this device. -This should be made so it can be added to any platform to be used as a peripheral, such as being paired to a quest or being added as one of the devices in SteamVR to use in game. -i am not sure I am sold on how foot movement is translated to ingame movement (maybe I am miss interpreting it), but 2 sensors passing each to track movement sounds like it may have tracking issue with slower foot movement (sneaking in game).
Fundamentally, they just can't break the proper ground. To me it's still slipping around on a plastic disc with shoes coated with lube. Until it's an actual tactile moving belt, it just doesn't hold water for the price.
It's baffling how may people think this requires you use the pico headset and have a subscription. It comes with a pico headset.
Hey man, is it noisy? Would it be suitable for someone who lives on an apartment?
that part you said about how it's more exhausting to slip and slide walk then it is to really walk...that seems like a big deal for longevity and immersion for this kind of device
A monthly fee as well? No sorry. It is a brilliant innovation but its higher price and a monthly fee on top of it.. I don't care how cheap it is. No.
If the subscription was removed and if it was made just for PC games and without that peak, for 1700 dollars it would even be worth it, of course it's still an expensive technology that I'll only think about buying when it's cheaper and better.
@@Raphajobinn6868 I probably wouldn't go as far as to make it a more expensive katwalk alternative. I like the idea that they could offer it with a headset and included games, and dedicated integration, but that extra $900 is a LOT for a headset 90% of people buying one of these will barley use
@@Beldan4why are you getting angry at everyone in this comment section for voicing their opinion? You seem like Omni’s CEO defending his cool thing.
Dump the Peco, add Quest support and charge 2 grand. SOLD. No quest support most likely equals no buy for most VR users. This is DoA without quest support. BTW I am a PC VR user and a Quest user. Just saying. The quest dominates the market currently. Without quest support your potential customer base is cut by 75%
Wait, so is it compatible with the quest?
Im seeing a few different things and that it isnt technically omni's fault that they're not compatible with each other?
Seems kind of like a bad idea for it to be incompatible with one of the most popular VR headsets.
What if in the future they can make a machine like the treadmill that can let you do all of that but without making you tired like your body feels the effects but your mind disconnects from the work out or have a low gravity Omni treadmill where it uses less energy for you to play
I feel like when the software is finished you'll be able to install it on any standalone headset or even on pc. I am looking forward to see where VR treadmills go.
This sounds so cool. I am trying to imagine tech just ten years from now.
Only available in the US. But I must say I probably would have bought it if it was available in Switzerland and I had the option of a monthly payment.
Speaking of directions I miss deca hub could use your phone to keep walking forward using your hips it was awesome but got shut down 😢
Great video! Had so much fun out there.
If this was available for all VR headsets and not just the one it would make it so much better! And they would make so much more money also. I reckon they should work on creating something that will work with any VR and not have the monthly fee and all that. I’d think of getting one of they did that
I womder how these would fair with a lomg legged 6 foot 3 bloke. Will i walk off the edge??
Kitties is cool!
What charging dock do you recommend
Looks fun in summer with no aircon!
The part where your cat paw'ed the door open. I understood every word.
Thumbs up for the cat!
9:14 To be fair $2k is nothing for something like this and in the PCVR space it's not to bad considering a Pimax crystal isw half the cost and overall in XR you giot the likes of the vision pro which costs $1k more.
Knowing this is a couple grand, has a subscription model and requires vr players to rebuy games, its a hard no and I own 3 vr headsets so I've put money into VR, they may stay afloat by companies like dave and busters but I hope they aren't banking on conusmers.
I know technology is really expensive but damn, monthly price, huge price for the treadmill/headset, have to rebuy the games... ooof
They need to make it work with the Quest 2/3 as that's the biggest audience of gamers out there.
8:00 Yeah, the price is something. But it is still cheaper than the Vision Pro 😀
I'll just wait until Disney puts out the floor tiles you can walk on
Thanks for stopping by! It was a lot of fun to show you around our office and have you check out Omni One!
Hey awesome you stopped by!
That room of people simultaneously using the things looks absolutely preposterous lool
So this entire setup, and one year of their subscription service (blegh) is still over $700 CHEAPER than the apple vision... This VR market is wild.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A KITTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you could do with one
I don’t see wanting to run in VR, anymore so than I want to go out for a jog in real life.
But to each their own.
I prefer my chair
foot trackers? VR hacky sack, when?!
Imu trackers for foot movement? I know one method used is basically an optical mouse sensor in the shoes, be bigger and probably work better if you have the whole shoe to work with instead of a shoe pad. But I really hope they can be used as proper foot trackers
Can't wait to see if razer facial interface is somehow worth $85 🙏
My problems with this product (and no I am not hating on the company this is legit constructive criticism):
-If this is oriented to the experienced VR user, they are already going to have their go to VR headset and would not want another when using with a VR threadmill (especially because of cost, money would just be sitting when a VR headset that is doing nothing)
-Subscription, just no.
And just think in the next few years you’re going to be in the game literally
The fact that it ties you to a shitty sub-par headset is a complete dealbreaker.
I wish they'd come up with another name to these slip surfaces other than "treadmill", cause these aren't treadmills.
It's baffling how may people think this requires you use the pico headset and have a subscription.
It comes with a pico headset. However it is possible to use other headsets with it via steam pc and the quest has a dev mode that works with 3rd party hardware. The subscription is only if you want /their/ games in online mode. Otherwise you can play single player or steam vr.
Anyone who crys wah wah deal breaker is either too lazy, too illiterate, too troll, or all of the above.
Did anyone else see the dog in the thumbnail?
😂 I think most people missed Dogo
Just imagining the price
they have a pay monthly plan.
It doesnt look like a immersive walking at all.
Lol as I tried to explain how this looks to me you perfectly describe it yourself.
Yeah the pushing seems very akward.
I bet you can get used to it... but nah.

@@Yodabutbetter you're never a bother 😊
Do they have a treadmill like this for the quest 2 /Quest 3? I haven't had any luck finding anything on Amazon so I thought you might know. Something I've been curious about for a while. Honestly I figured this rig was going to be about 6 grand American where it comes with the VR equipment not just the treadmill itself.
@@peterparker6584 actually there's one for the quest that goes for $900 sometimes. It's not super simple plug and play though, it requires some tinkering. The Kat C2+ I believe is the model I have.
@@jaybratt Was hoping it would have been on Amazon. As expression goes devil you know. Most of the stuff I get from Amazon or Ali Baba Express. Usually I have less issues when I'm dealing with Amazon. Not a big fan of AliExpress but I've had pretty good luck with them.Thank you for letting me know. I guess it's where VR is not really been picked up the way you might expect that stuff like this isn't more common to find.
Cool!
250 lbs minimum. For small cavemen only. Hopefully they come out with one for us big guys
You'd be forever replacing worn parts on top of subscription. If I could buy it use it, and not worry about wear and tear, it would be a a great addition to my VR gaming. Until that day comes I'll stick with controllers.
Kitty!
Were getting closer and closet to a new Matrix...
The Oasis from Ready Player One.
On a building
All you guys had to do was remove the subscription part and people would happily buy it.
bet its hella loud
Ikagien bringing a lady home and trying to explain this thing.
Damn!!!
After disney’s flat treadmill concept this is ancient tech imo. Added subscription on top of it and I dont even care about this company no more…
ya, but you can't run on disney's treadmill.
@@Beldan4 u dont want to run in VR outside of fitness. Having a longer stride however that could be a temporary solution.
@@filipivan5125I would want to run on it for shooter as well...
We need China to copy Disney moving floor. There is no other way we could get this to our houses.
Definetly do not want to be tied to a Pico Headset or subscription. Cool idea otherwise.
It does not matter how good your product is.
Banish the thought of any form of subscription service, "optional" or not, and ill buy one.
Otherwise my money is going to the first company that CAN
Serious? Just let me buy it so I can play on my quest
I will stick with katwalk
As long as you have to slide I dont think its worth it. Doesnt feel realistic at all
Kinda silly they it’s only for that VR and not every brand of vr
$14/month? That’s $168/year, to play a very limited amount of games. Xbox Live (now called “Game Pass Core”) is $60/year. 🙄AND you have to buy the games again even if you already own them
And exactly where are you gonna put that monstrosity???? I’ll take VR mats and FreeAir shoes that won’t take up as much space; not even mentioning the high cost and monthly fee
I really don't think this concept is it. They keep iterating on it, and I don't think any amount of improvements is going to make me want one because I think the concept itself is flawed.
How is this next gen when it isnt better than katwalk vr.
That's the neat part, the slidemill itself is better, virtuix just doesn't realize that they are making a product for people that will buy a katwalk for a literal 1/3 the price
meow
No.
Yes
Subscription!? Ya bye..
I monthly fee to play online yeah that's a no from me.
L. Sub is garbage deal.
So you expect them to keep updating the software, adding new games (while calabrating at testing the system for each game), and encourage developers and investors all for free? Don't want to pay it?. Don't. Use it for PCVR.
Freeaim vr is 100% better
Hello
Still look awkward af
virtuix really sucks in my opinion... really not worth getting especially when it's tied to 1 specific headset
Katvr ftw
