    Ive been hammock camping for 7 years and thought that was the pinnacle of camp comfort. Wife got me the Pomoly Hex Plus and I recently spent 2 full weeks in the woods with it. I watched several Lonewolf 902 videos before heading out just to educate myself......WOW. I'm really turned around on hot tenting. The most comfortable and enjoyable 2 weeks camping I've had in years. I only regret that I'm not savvy shooting video....but I do owe this channel a lot of credit for providing a ton of valuable info before setting out on my own trip.

    Another home run video! I guess I'm going to have to buy another pomoly tent. Are you sure you're not getting a commission? You ought to be. You have already talked me into the 2-4 model with 1/2 inner tent and I love it.
    I camped out the last two weekends in Louisiana during tornado warnings. The first storm brought 3 inches of rain and covered the ground at one point with an inch of dime sized hail. The next weekend brought tornado warnings and five inches of rain with 2 tornados passing overhead. I wish I could say that I didn't get any water inside the tent but the wind blew a river of water under the snow flaps. I knew I was in trouble when I saw my dutch oven full of chili float by. Fortunately I had anchored my cot to the tent stakes and I stayed high and dry and survived. (Old red neck humor) I can say I don't believe a drop of water came through the fabric, only under the snow flaps. Any suggestions on how to keep water from running through the tent in such deluges?
    Thanks again for the great videos. I believe they get better every time.

    In this great vid, when discussing the stove jack, you mentioned you were (at that time) using a 4" pipe. I have been actually thinking some lately on pipe diameters. Pomoly stoves currently have a 2.5" pipe / spark arrestor. In this review you thought that a wider pipe would be blocking rain from entering the stove jack which had me wondering why Pomoly does not have an option for a smaller size stove jack. Thanks for these helpful reviews.

    • @Lonewolfwildcamping
      @Lonewolfwildcamping  4 роки тому +1

      I have switched completely to 2.5 inch pipes giving adequate room from edge of jack to pipe. Allowing cool air to pass through. Also just roll the yellow rope material upwards in the jack to create a water block.

    • @wendygerrish4964
      @wendygerrish4964 3 роки тому +2

      With the gap for the T1 2" pipe I didn't have a problem with rain or heavy snow coming in. Ambient temperature only down to 32F and the ground was never frozen. The rain and snow beaded right off around, the weight of snow required tightening sides around jack so that side wouldn't lean in.

    They look like really nice tents. I've looked at luxe, onetigris, and some others. So far, I like this best. I've a question though, how come all the makers make Penta, hex and octo, but no one makes a square one pole tent? I have a 15'x15'x9' high, one poler of heavy fire retardant canvas, that weighs a ton. I had it made 25 some years ago when I was doing mountain man reenacting. It's better use of space and stands up great in storms and high winds. I put a family of 4 to queen air beds, gear, wood stove, and still had room. Now that it's just me; A 10x10x7 high, with a stove Jack near the door or on the side, double entry, with a half, and or full, removable mesh innet would be awesome. It's a better use of space, without all the extra corners. Just mho. Love your vids, been watching for a long time, need to get your son on more. He seems to be getting over being camera shy. Be well, God bless you and keep you safe.

    While the tent is generally well designed and convenient, the silver reflective material is not particularly well bonded to the fabric.
    After three winters (-40 C) of freezing and thawing through hot tent use, the silver has separated in several places, resulting in a spider web of plades where you can now see light through.
    Nothing shocking as all things DO wear. But the purchase of this product does seem to be predicated as a relatively light use product.

    How well does this tent hold heat in the winter?

    • @Lonewolfwildcamping
      @Lonewolfwildcamping  4 роки тому +1

      No different than any other tent. I do alot of winter camping and I gotta say when it's cold it's cold you know what I mean.

    How would you compare this 6p tent to the megahorn XL 8p tent?

      I dont have the magahorn xl tent so I wouldnt be a very reliable source of information on it. I can say however I live the pomoly line of tents.

    Which pomoly tipi do you like the most? Polyester or Canvas ?
    And why?

    • @Lonewolfwildcamping
      @Lonewolfwildcamping  4 роки тому

      I enjoy both types depending on the current camping situation and personal needs

    • @mrspeigle1
      @mrspeigle1 2 роки тому

      Canvas for long term, poly is for short term. If you're just going out a few times per year go with Polly, If you're going for heavy usage/long term go canvas. Is rule of thumb is canvas will last longer but is heavyer and way more expensive, polyester is lighter and cheaper but won't stand up to a long term UV damage.

    Doea the hex plus canva has the same advantages?

    • @Lonewolfwildcamping
      @Lonewolfwildcamping  3 роки тому

      The advantages are the same but the canvas let's more natural light transmission and is a bit better around embers from fire

    I was doing some research and this tent looks exactly like the tentsme tent and they're selling it for way cheaper.

      @Lonewolfwildcamping  4 роки тому +1

      It looks the same but it's not. They are very different in size and geometry. I have researched both because of the similar appearance and I also have seen both in person to see the actual differences

      @@teddychaney3234 honestly I have 10 different hot tents. Some lightweight and some heavy . Both serve their purpose well. For durability and a bomb proof tent I will say I do %100 trust and love all of my pomoly tents.
