Here is a quick and easy tip to clean up and straighten those raw edges of your border. I was amazed by the difference and will always be doing this from now on. Let me know what you think! xx
Hi, thank you for this tip! It is really making a big and nicer edge. Very nice 👌 and thank you for being so thoughtful and generous with all of your tips and tricks for croche ❤I have subscribed today and like many of your videos and also your nice and calming voice 😊
I’m Maria from Sweden
Thank you 🙏
I meant “ It did a big difference and a nicer edge “ 😮
@@mariaschultz863 so glad to have you here and thank you for your support 😀💕🧶🤗
@@mariaschultz863 you type like me 🤣🙌🏻💕
@@PlayHookywithMeThank you 🫶🧶
Ohhh man yeah I’m saving this for when I’m done with my blanket. My ADHD got the better of me and the edges got a lil silly 🤣
Any idea why I can't save this video like I used to be able to do?
Oh my goodness, this is brilliant! What a difference it makes! Thank you SOOO much, I ❤ this and am subscribing IMMEDIATELY! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you SO much for subscribing. Great to have you here 💕
This was a fantastic idea, I needed this exact type of finishing edge, thank you so much!!
Thank you 😀❤️
Thank you so much! I just finished a baby blanket and I had some noticeable waves on the sides. Can’t wait to use this truck!!
Glad it was helpful! xx
Muchísimas gracias!!!❤❤❤❤❤ Adoro sus tutoriales ❤❤❤❤ Abrazo desde España ❤
Thank you so much 😀❤️
Ooooh, I like this! I usually do SC first, adding stitches as needed, then Slip, but I like this better. Thanks - great idea 😘
Thank you ! 🧶💕
Thank I am going to remember this trick forever
Yay 😀❤️
Super duper helpful hints there .. cheers.
✌🏻🌷🌿
Thank you so much 😀💕
What a great idea! Thank you!
Thank you! 😀💕
Definitely going to do this with a blanket I’m working on for my mum the sides are horrifying for me as first time trying that style blanket 😂
😂🙌🏻💕
wow thank you for sharing this hack, I can't believe the difference!
did you go back down a hook size for the sc? or stay with the larger hook?
Yes, I went back down to the 4mm for the sc border. I used a 4.5mm for the slip stitches. 👍🏻💕
Hello! I am crocheting a shirt and after i finished crocheting the back panel i realised that the shape of the back part was a bit like an arch, and the top and bottom have very very uneven stichs. Will this trick work on my project?
The arching , no I’m afraid not. It sounds like the starting chain might have been a bit tighter than the rest of the project. You might be able to fix that with blocking the piece.,
It might help straighten out the uneven stitches if you aren’t joining them to other parts of the shirt . The only way to know for sure is to try it 💕
@@PlayHookywithMe I see, thank you!
Helloagain! I just wanted to clarify. If I use this to help with my uneven edges, will i be able to attach the front panel and sleeebs of my shirt to my back panel?
@@higharchs yes because you're working sc's on top of those slip stitches so everything will be back to "normal" at that point. I recommend though that you make a practice front and back panel to test it before doing on your final piece so you can see how it will look. xx
@@PlayHookywithMe thank you so much!
Great hack. However I find it makes the back of the work look terrible.
Brilliant solution! Those side edges have been driving me crazy. I assumed it was just my lack of skill. Thank you!!❤
Definitely not lack of skill 👏🏻💕
As ever it’s the simple ideas that astound the most! That’s genius. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you ! 😀💕
What a wonderful video! I will remember this forever! Thanks for sharing ❤
I’m so excited about it! I’ll always do this now too 🙌🏻🧶💕
Thanks! Great tip! Plus, I love the look of the stitch sampler itself...those colours are awesome! 🙂
Thanks so much 😀🧶💕
Oh my goodness, I don't know what I would do without you. I have been crocheting for years and have always had trouble with the edges. This video is just what I need. Thank you very much. I really appreciate your vidoes.
You are so welcome! 😀🧶💕
I discovered this technique just recently when I was making an envelope border for my mosaic crochet blanket. It does make a much better finish. The trouble I had was that my slip stitches were too tight and it was a pain to crochet into. I’m going to try it again but I will go up two hook sizes trying to get it loose enough especially since I’m a tight crocheter
Awesome, thanks for sharing your experience! Yes, I bet the larger hook will make all the difference 👏🏻🧶❤️
This hack is brilliant! And thank you for the tips on the corners. Plus I’m so glad I watched until the end of the video 😍
I would love to get the all the stitches in this sampler you crocheted the edging to. I love the funky look of it.

Hii! I need ur help😢 I want to add single crochet border around a ribbed single crochet (BLO) PIECE
No one have given a tutorial on it
Will it be possible to help me out 😢😢❤?
I’ll try to help if I can . What is causing you difficulty?
@@PlayHookywithMe hey! I am so sorry if I am bothering you, if you are free it would be great if you can help me out🥺. I have crochet before and this was my first time crocheting a garment. I tried following a tutorial from a UA-cam channel called ( chenda Diy) and the video is titled (easy crochet ribbed cardigan tutorial), purple and white one. I could follow everything in there except how she added single crochet around the edges of the ribbed (back loop only single crochet) pieces. (specifically at 18:14 and 22:13 time stamps in the video ) She did not explain how to find each/next stich to put the sc in. It is very confusing as I don't know where is my next space to put the sc's😭. BTW thank u soo much for replying ❣️it would be nice if u can check that video out and let me know 🥺!
@@dupa6868 it’s hard to explain because it looks like she’s very clear in showing you what to do. She’s doing slip stitches to join but I don’t see where she’s doing “back loop only” . She’s going through all the stitches.
It’s the purple and white cardigan with a pocket right? I’m sorry , I don’t know how I can help . 😔
I recommend copying what she does and just make sure it looks even to you . Don’t worry too much about stitch count.
@@PlayHookywithMe hey its okay, I appreciate UR efforts to help me out tho! I was worried about the count of the stiches and all. Now I stopped working on that project as it's hard to proceed without clarity. Anyways thank u soo much angel! ❣️Hope u have a great time ahead🤗
@@dupa6868 have you reached out to her? It’s a shame to have to stop .
Thank you, I’m definitely going to try this ❤
awesome !!! this is a game changer...! i will be doing my borders this way from now on... thank you !!
So glad! 😀🙌🏻🧶
I am going to give this a try. It looks wonderful. Thank you for sharing. This is such a great tip to make your projects look their best. ☮️🌍🌲

WOW!!! That’s a big difference. I will be trying that on my next blanket.
I’m in love with it 😀💕🧶
Your right… that makes a HUGE difference!!! I will be using this one.
Right? 😀🙌🏻💕
Just what I was looking for!! 😃 I was pleased with my beginner multi-color yarn change blanket UNTIL I paid attention to the edges🥴. Saving this and will let you know the results! THANK YOU!
Yes , please let me know! Hope it works well for you 😀🧶💕
I Love your tutorial , excellent camera work!!!! But honestly your music is HIGHLY annoying due to the megahertz (see youtube). Thanks anyway.
Ok , thanks for the feedback

Thank you for this hack! I have been looking on how to create borders on my 1st crochet project - a throw! ❤️
Awesome ! 👏🏻💕
Love your trick. I love doing sampler blankets but hate my borders. Will be working your method next. What a difference. p.s. your kitty looks like my kitty. so cute
Tabbies unite! 😀😻🙌🏻
This is so timely. I hate my wonky sides. However, when I tried it i was unable to find all top loops and had to go round. Still looks fab but wrong side has the yarn showing l8ke a tacking stitch (multible changes of colour square with white border). I would love to see the wrong side of your sample just to see what I should aim for. Tx so much❤
I described and showed what you’ll see on the backside. Rewatch at the 4 minute mark. 👍🏻💕
I love this so much. I just finished a blanket and I hate the rough edges. I will definitely will give this a try. Thanks a lot
Hope it works well for you 💕
Thank you! 💜
🙌🏻😀💕
I'll be using this for a scarf I've almost finished. The edges are horrendous lol. Thank you for sharing 🥰
I know how you feel! This really helps 👏🏻👏🏻💕
Thanks, this has really helped me .❤
😘 Hi can u make a video I like to sample what you made different style. Can you show us how you did it yeah, double crochet and your papa stitch
Yes, look in the description box under the video and you will see a link to the video showing how to make these stitches. 👍🏻💕
This will help me so much. I always have problems getting a nice edge.
Do you have a video for the stitch sampler? It's so pretty.
Thank you , yes you can find it in the description box below the video 🧶💕
Amazing ,I shall be using this method from now on ,brilliant!!!
Wonderful! 😀👏🏻💕
Thank you very much, this was always my struggle, and this method works great!
I’m so glad it helped ❤️❤️❤️
Hi just finished my blanket did jaygo granny stitch would sl st neaten the edges and what do you recommend at the joins
Oh interesting. You know, I’ve never tried this with squares so I can’t give you a tip there. I only ever use this to clean up the raw edges on projects worked in rows .
For squares I usually work a round of sc’s and at the join areas I sometimes do “2 sc together” to tighten that part up.
💕
I love this!!
Simply perfect!
Thanks for sharing. ❤
So glad you liked it! 😀🧶❤️
I will try it today. Thanks for giving us these tips n tricks. Hope it will improve my border as well
It will 💕
why did you only work in the front part of the stitch for the slip-stitch?
Because it improves the look of the stitch on the back. If you go under both stitches, it creates a more noticeable ridge in the back .
Genius! This is perfect and beautiful! Thanks
This is a great technique. I'll definitely be using it. Thanks so much!
Thank you !
I wish I’d known this a week ago or procrastinated edging my blanket 😂😂
😆🤣💕
Wow that looks so much better! Just wondering why you on,y slip stitch into the front loop?
I’m not sure but it seems to help camouflage the stitch better but that’s just my guess. It was the way I learned how to do it and no explanation was given on why. 💕
Thanks I'm going to tried it
Amazing! Just what I was looking for
Great ! 👏🏻💕
OMG! What a beautiful ornament! Do you have a tutorial how to crochet them?
I think you found the video , great 😀👏🏻💕
Brilliant, thank you, definitely doing this from now on.
Fantastic!👏🏻💕
Awesome video!! Thank you!
OMG! You are my crochet soulmate, I swear!!!! I am working on something that uses most of these stitches. I mean the bobbles of one color on top of another color, that slayed me! I love those so much! They are so cuuuuteeeee!!!!!
Hahahah 🙌🏻 yay!!! Love it 😀💕 Thank you so much - I want to make this into a full sized throw at some point .
Little bit confused as I am a new crocheter. After crocheting the row of slip stiches do you crochet over the top of the slip stitches or through the center of each slip stitch😢
Well I guess it would best be described as going under the slip stitch . Watch the part where I’m working into the slip stitch and you’ll notice that there are two strands are yarn above the hook as I’m going in - that’s the v like shape that a stitch makes.
If you are on your phone you can zoom in on the screen with your fingers to see ❤️
I've done this without even knowing! Thanks!
How cool is that! 😀👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You added the slip stitch to the rough edges only, but had you added anything to the top and bottom prior to the sides? I hope that makes sense. 🙂
No, I didn’t add anything to the top and bottom edges since there were stitches already available.
You only need to work those 2 rough edges with slip stitches. 👍🏻🧶💕
Definitely be doing that, thanks 🎉🎉🎉
Hope you like it! 💕
Amazing - thankyou! I'm off to redo the edge of a blanket that I have put away purely because I really didn't like the edge
Great 😀🙌🏻💕
Ditto man!!!😂😊
You just got yourself a new subscriber!! 🤩
Thank you , Claudia! 😀🧶❤️
Brilliant... definitely going do this on my newly finished grandchild blanket! Just going to get a larger hook now. THANKS!

Hello Roz i love this video and yes its a much neater finish . I also love that you join at different areas so as not to have bulky knots in one place . As always great lesson . Have a good evening. I see one of the boys are chilling out 😂😂❤
Thanks so much, Angela! Yes, Biscuit in particular loves to lay amongst the yarn 🤣🤣💕
Very nice. 😮
I'm still a beginner so I haven't done many stitches just yet but I do like to learn new things. This is beautiful and made such a huge difference. Thank you for sharing and I usually do a thumbs up on videos when people put an effort into their work 😊
