No black people in Star Wars… Billy Dee Williams as Lando, Sam Jackson as Mace Windu, James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader… please stop this nonsense 😅
Whoever said that?? Finn *could* have been more the original idea was he was a descendant of Mace Windu but then they fired the director 3 times and ruined the character by making him the Token comic relief character
And he was an absolute genius! Only issue I have.. Tom Bombadil.. there should have been more on him. My theory is he's the embodiment of Eru (Ilúvatar) on Middle Earth.. which is why the ring doesn't effect him when he plays with it.
Inclusion is the most racist thing ever made. As an African I really feel like having a black person in a movie just because you have to have every race is just racist. Star Wars was already inclusive because like Jackson was there because he was a good actor not because he is black. Disney's woke addiction is killing the dreams of other people which they got from them.
you would feel that way because you aspire to appease instead of being represented. Hollywood already made a depiction of you and you want the sl@ve gangsta and pimp as anti woke right? You are likely new to the world as far as culture freedom goes and represent a form of tokenism that doesn't suit you.
I'm Black born in the 70's . When I first Star Wars I was blown away. I never thought there was too many white people. When I first saw Billy Dee Williams, I was like "wow he played a cool character". I never thought," we need more black people". I literally just was engulfed by the story and the great feeling of hope "no pun intended" and the ingenious special effects. What happened to that feeling?
Well said. And despite what Disney's execs are claiming about the current fan revolt supposedly being driven by "racism" and the usual list of "phobias", none of the fans objected to Billy Dee Williams nor other minority actors in the original trilogy. That's because these actors weren't shoehorned into the movies just to fill a quota, and their characters weren't just the usual generic Token Minority Characters who look and act like they come from New York or Los Angeles. Lando Calrissian was a complicated character that made sense in the context of the Star Wars universe, and he looked suitably foreign with his cape and so on. "The Acolyte" has characters with dreadlocks who look like they come from our planet rather than a different galaxy, just as the Purple-Haired Admiral looked like she belongs in a Starbucks or a theatre in Greenwich Village. That's why people dislike these characters.
Dude, this is the fault of all the loud mouths that complained endlessly about the prequels. I feel that is why Lucas ultimately sold out to Disney. The prequels were at least Star Wars and not WOKE trash.
As a lesbian im so sick and tired of the pandering. Every tv show and movie has to have gay characters, and push woke ideology. I hate it. Bring back straight characters!
Straight White Guy here. I don’t care if you happen to make a character Gay or something if it’s relevant to the plot. Just throwing in a persons sexual orientation for the sake of it really makes me uncomfortable. Like if they randomly revealed Badger from Breakjng Bad was Bisexual or something… okay? What does that have to do with his character as a whole? Why was that detail necessary? Now when they implied Gale was a P*do it was very subtle and it was to demonstrate to people just why his views on the law were so Libertarian. They didn’t even outright say it either, for all we know he was just very fond of the kids in Thailand. But we obviously know Gale was creepy and people who take lots of pictures with kids who aren’t theirs without being part of a relief organization (and even sometimes as part of one) are probably up to no good.
They're trying to push moral degeneracy and replace good moral things with bad and evil things. Notice how they make all the villains better people and make all the heroes evil scum.
I’m a 47 year old “immigrant woman of colour”, I fell in love with LucasFilms StarWars as a child. That is my StarWars. The absolute sewer bilge that Disney has been cranking out to shove the agenda down our throats with is disgusting and disgraceful. I completely disavow Disney.
It does not matter who you are. Our differences are positives as the world would be a VERY boring place without all of our cultures and ethnic groups. But what we are seeing is the exact opposite of what they say they are doing. They say they make these changes to bring diversity and inclusion but all it does is cheapen the story and kill fan interest. We are all brothers and sisters, most of us know that. The racism of years ago WAS almost gone. Until the woke Marxists kicked it back up. MLK would have hated Disney.
As a female, it irks me how feminists whine about Stars Wars being a “male universe” 🙄 Princess Leia was very much a feminist icon at the time but in 2024 they expect every universe to be like Wonder Woman’s Themyscira. Ridiculous!
You’re so right. If you look at Jyn and Cassian in Rogue One there is a genuine building of their relationship, they come from different paths and become partners, and it’s all about the characters and the roles they play in progressing the story, and that’s great film making
I think they want women to be male. So the female hero has to be in a male role protagonist role. They don’t understand that male and female are different with different strengths and weaknesses and they should play to that. You can see in the quality of writing in hollywood, they can’t think of different strengths and weaknesses and how to use this in a story, probably because that takes too much effort and nuance.
Nah, they're just boring. It's the same as people who make their politics their identity, their religion their identity, etc. There's more to life than God, sex, politics, drugs, etc. If I see people who play into the identity politics and/or the "I'm *insert sexuality here*", I don't tell them to grow up, I go back to trying to ignore them because they're simply boring people.
@@adrian_adI mean. Life is above god in a way because without life how are you gonna exist to believe in him and praise him? Cmon man use your brain that your god gave you
This is an interesting debate, with clear ties to a deep religious base, so it's complex. However, a second debate is the notion that 'ugly things cannot be or breed beauty'. This has been a general feeling in art for a long time, and the elites don't like ugly things in general, so most paintings were never ugly (horrible deaths, blood, sex, unnatural poses, etc.). They only got away with it in the context of Satan, though Michelangelo pushed the boundaries, followed by everybody else in the 1600s and 1700s. Anyway, back to the issue at hand. I'm not serious enough to know if this is actually true, and I guess it depends on our exactly meanings. Having said that, it strikes me that certain evil forces are creative, such as Hitler/Nazi Germany. Now, he only created things for the purposes of destruction and distortion, and it ultimately led to its own destruction, but he was still a creative force, and would have been seen as good by the world without the war and mass murder. In fact, many people liked Nazi Germany in 1938, despite the fact it was already evil by this time, with truly horrible actions. It only seems relatively peaceful and 'good' due to its creative output and how unthinkable 1939-1945 was, and compared with the horror show of the Soviets in the 1920s and 1930s, and the Japanese in China, namely in 1937 (though this wasn't readily known at the time). Tolkien's claim here actually sounds quite Nietzschean ('slave morality'). It makes good sense and is typically true, but I cannot say if it's always true. Does 'new' mean 'good' or simply 'original'? If we study Nazi Germany, we see that Tolkien is largely right -- much of what they created was actually not new at all, just a distorted version of what the Greeks, Romans, Americans, British, and old Germans had already invented. Of course, through a modernist lens, we would say that some of Hitler's inventions were good, because we use them today in the West, and believe them to be positive/good (though this isn't the same thing as 'Good' or 'the forces of good', as Tolkien is using this in a more axiomatic way, not a utilitarian way). It's worth debating, but is generally correct and profound, as Tolkien is a profound thinker.
Lots of our technology was created for war, which is the worst form of evil that humanity commits. Thankfully it can also be used for good. So I would say what Tolkien says applies to both good and evil, and everything in between.
@@MCharlesPaintinghitler wasnt creative. He was a demagogue that took advantage of post great war mental scars and the innovation of the german people. Dude didn’t even invent fascism.
As a black guy im heartbroken and disgusted by what star wars has become under Disney. I grew up with it. It’s like watching a childhood friend get broken down and remolded into something disgusting and unrecognizable by their adopted parent
I always likened it to watching your childhood friend be abused by their new lover, and no matter how many times you tell them they need to leave, they respond with "no, YOU need to leave."
In my opinion, after disney bought star wars, like 2 good pieces of media have been created. Andor, and like Season 1 of mando, cause those 2 were peak, but then dave filoni was like "i wanna make a show about the character i created because i love her so much" and made the dumpster fire of ahsoka
It's actually kinda racist what they are doing. Singling people out because of who they are. Also, why is it ALWAYS black people who are being put in the spotlight? It's never Indian people, or Chinese people or Japanese people. It's always a black person, a gay person and a female. That's Disney's sexist, racist, homophonic trifecta.
Black man here. Never thought, "Damn, i wish there were more black people in this movie." My brother is as gay as they come, and I've NEVER heard him say, "Where are all the gay people?". Star Wars was magic. Perfect. Nothing in the whole world brought me as much of a sense of adventure and wonder as StarWars. Why the hell do they always have to ruin EVERYTHING? I fkn love StarWars. Please, please Kathleen Kennedy. Put your ego aside and resign. This whole situation has caused me actual stress.
As a kid I never looked at characters and thought about race/sex I just thought wow these characters are awesome we had robots and aliens and I think the characters in the original trilogy are perfect examples of characters people should be inspired by Han solo grew to care about something bigger than himself risking his life to save people he grew to care about, Lando learned that no matter how big a threat can be you can't let it stop and saves his friends and the people of cloud city, Luke when he was young believed there was nothing you can do about the empire and becomes the man who destroyed the death star and brought his father to the light and there's Darth Vader a man who was consumed by evil so much he believed there was no hope for him only to overcome his need for power to save his son that is what I call inspiration actions speak louder than words and words show more about a character than appearances
The diversity of the aliens is all over every Star Wars. Just ignore the crap bro. They are dumb, that is why they ruined everything. They never liked us liking Star Wars and it was upsetting them.
I hear you man, it's upsetting isn't it. The trouble is it's in corporate hands now, and they won't let go of it easily. The fans will have to form a rebel alliance against this all too real evil empire...
A regular worker gets fired if he's bad in his job and loses the company money, those people can continue with their failure after failure after failure
If a movie starring only white people got released, people would flip out and hate on it for it's lack of diversity. If a movie starring only black people got released, it'd be considered an instant classic and nobody would have an issue with the lack of diversity. It's pretty sad and pathetic how the most obviously racist people in the world don't even know they are racist. I swear our society continues to get dumber and dumber with each passing year.
@@Business_monke_OG He said he would never make sequels. Also, could he really make them better? I honestly don't think Lucas was ever a good sci-fi director. He just doesn't care about the genre, never did, he said it himself. "Empire" was the best of the OT, and it's the only one he didn't direct. He makes stuff goofy, "New Hope", "Return" and "Phantom Menace" were goofy af and riddled with plot holes because of him. Thanks to the backlash after "Phantom Menace" he brought in Jonathan Hales and let Rick McCallum have more of a say. Lots of info on the net about that whole debacle. Lucas is like Steve Jobs - he has a great vision, but shouldn't be at the helm. He should definitely guide the story, though, so we don't get "somehow he survived" and "they fly now" and lesbian space witches lol
@@daniel.s.stefanov Lucas is a great storyteller, but not as great a director. His wife helped him by editing Star Wars into a great movie. TESB benefited from another director implementing his vision. Finn is a great example of what was wrong with the sequels - the poor/absent storytelling. A "trilogy" with no coherent story arc. It isn't just that Finn's potential was lost as he was relegated to comic relief, it is that there was never any intent to build on what was done before to tell a larger story right down to a lack of character development. How do you care about characters when they aren't developed and keep changing movie to movie? How do you care about a "story" when clues and foreshadowing from one movie is discarded and forgotten the next?
Dude I didn't either until all of this started happening! Now when a trailer comes out I'm specifically looking for it. It's like they're agenda did the complete opposite of what they're claiming to do.
While I agree with you it is not how it works. I bet any grown female adult will be like you and not look around for female protagonists as long as it is a good story, but let me tell you one thing that happened to me the other day: I was watching a chess championship match and at some point the camera panned to the tables where the Women's championship was going on: my daughter said: "Oh wow, so women can also play?"... It had not occurred to me that we were only watching men up until now and I never really thought of telling her this is a game for everyone after teaching her. Representation is more important than we think. I still believe it should NOT go above good storytelling, but it is something subtle that has an impact even if we don't really realise it.
The problem is, at this point you will literally have NOTHING if you do that. All chip manufactures, all phone manufactures, all car companies, everyone who makes shows, electric companies, etc etc are all woke. Literally the ONLY non woke things I can think of are gun makes and like 2 small coffee companies. As much as I would like to boycott it all, I need more than a gun and a cup of coffee in my life. I boycott the worst ones, such as the Acolyte.
Billy D. Williams was loved. Samuel L. Jackson was loved. Carrie Fischer was loved. Natalie Portman was...liked. No one has ever had a problem with the diverse cast in the Star Wars universe. This "white racist bigoted fans" narrative is getting old real fast. It's obviously not true, and for them to continue using that as an excuse is actually the racist, sexist rhetoric in the conversation. They hate straight white men...period. The Acolyte was terribly written, and Amandala Stainberg turned in one of the worst performances ever witnessed in the franchise. That's all there is to it.
I think he knew he didn’t have much of a choice. He had to unload Star Wars somewhere and Disney was the only viable American company who could take it on. Jim Hensen was in the same predicament with The Muppets.

I'd argue the face of Star Wars is definitely Darth Vader, and he was literally voiced by a black man. It's almost like these critics never even watched the original trilogy. My black Swedish friend said he's never once thought of Star Wars as being "too white", so why would any reasonable person think so?
Star Wars used to be so epic. Now all that is left is to let it burn and ignore it while it burns down. Star Wars was supposed to destroy the Woke not join them!!!
As a straight, white male i don't give a rat's ass about race, gender and sexual orientation. And if the people so concerned with equality stopped giving so much attention to this we may finally reach the equality these people seem to crave so much. (Of course they don't, it's just what they write on their banners to mask their real goals)
Exactly. People need to stop assuming they won't live long enough to do something. George could've made HIS sequel trilogy, which he'd had planned since 1977, and which has now been shelved in Disney's lair and will probably never be seen by anyone.
I get different people feel differently, but look at George Miller. Whether Furiosa was good or bad and whether it’s the movie he does end on, Miller is still talking about the Mad Max franchise and still making plans, and he’s about to be 80. I wish Lucas could’ve had that mind set.
I watched Acolyte just because as a Star Wars fan I thought I should. It was BAD. The script, the story line, the acting, the obvious WOKE agenda, the list goes on. I know the hardest thing to get someone to do is to admit they are wrong, But Disney, or someone there, needs to let the CEO know she's ruining something great.
No black people? Samuel L Jackson. Jar Jar Binks. lando calrissian. James Earl Jones. Plus this is a galaxy that has more than just skin color diversity, most of the characters aren't even the same species..... So wtf are they on about?
My guess, they don't get paid much -- at least, not all of them. It's more that many of the critics are themselves woke, and believe it's good storytelling/filmmaking, or morally good (regardless of its quality). I see this all the time with non-critics, and across society. On top of this, critics get other benefits in general, beyond cash. If a critic says 'woke Star Wars is bad', that critic will struggle at the woke office, with all his woke friends, and other woke companies that now refuse to let him review their stuff. The same issue exists in video gaming, though the focus is more on optics than wokeism (for example, if you give Nintendo a bad rating, they likely won't give you another game to review ever again). I'm guessing, another benefit to critics and journalists is that they get 'early access' to the films or certain interviews and such, as is true with all kinds of journalism, including video game. This is a big problem. It either didn't exist in the 1980s or critics didn't care, or companies were more open to negative feedback. Granted, negative feedback is now very harmful, for a few reasons. Before the Internet, it wasn't a massive problem for them or their sales, etc. There has been a great shift in general when it comes to critics since the Internet. There are a few theories at work. The first major one is that you shouldn't judge anything, just display it. Let others judge it as they want. The second is that you should judge harshly, and quickly -- either good or bad, yes or no. The reason in both cases is that there's too much 'stuff' on the Internet, and the world is so filled up with both people and services and creations that you cannot easily filter through it all. There's just too much of it. On the one hand, there is a general feeling that this means 'most content is worthless and won't ever be seen, even some good stuff won't be seen by anybody'. This is what led to the two extremes in how we should judge art, or whatever the case may be. This is most notable in art, it seems. Of course, leftists love it when you don't judge things, because most of their creations are worthless. They want it displayed for their own ideological purposes, or at least praised -- never crushed. That's why they have their zines and Hollywood and childish art and cute bags with badges all over. They are children without artistic talent. It's in their interest that you display their art, and allow it to become popularised for others like them and children to buy into their cultism. It also maps nicely onto the whole 'sensitive snowflake' culture, where they dislike conflict and real judgement and negativity. This is why you see them freak out when Gina Carno went to Comic Con or whatever it was, and they demanded that 'only like-minded people are allowed. Comics are ours and this is our home'. This was literally an argument I saw when this story blew up not long ago. The mere existence of 'other' -- of Right-wingers, of straight white people, of non-woke people -- at such an event is violent and ruins their sacred space. They are child-like paganists with a drive towards tyranny where every citizen is identical. All for control and safety (what Haidt calls safetyism). Everybody the same, everybody understandable, everybody predictable, everybody 'in' on the cultish joke. The WEF and UN are doing the same thing, when they demand a connected digital planned market world. They openly stated that it's to ensure that we can 'predict human behaviour to make the world safe and to be able to control any large-scale problem'. They said this in about 2020, though it's been a central theme for decades for these people -- really, ever since the 1920s with Julian Huxley. They just found a great opportunity in 2020, which they also openly admitted. At the same time, however, the woke types themselves have no problem being harsh in their judgements when it comes to non- or anti-woke creations and creators (on UA-cam and in general). They also have no problem praising something if it's woke or helpful for their movement. Indeed, they even have no problem praising Islam, something that openly wants to kill wokeism... (Of course, the idea that UA-camrs have ruined Star Wars by giving them bad reviews is insane. This is a fairly common talking point from Disney and the radical fans. Most of the people watching UA-cam already used their own brains to form such an opinion. Interestingly, this is very telling: it's clear that leftist Disney types believe that it's impossible for a human to form his own opinion without being mindlessly misled by somebody else. This says more about them than 'us'.)
I appreciate and understand your sentiment, but I completely disagree. What we are seeing is the Communist playbook. This is about the destruction of our culture and replacing it with a new culture that revolves around nihilism, ambiguity and demonization of strong men. Our culture is nothing less than another battlefront in the war the communists are waging on this West.
NEVER give up control of what you created unless the money matters more and you turn your back on the IP or company. Look at the people who build a company then give up their company and they morph into something obscene.
The guy just wanted to retire and he got so much shit for the prequels (deservedly). It was a move to cash out, and with how Marvel was doing at the time it seemed like it would be a good choice.
It died with the prequels for me, but I could at least say those aren't for me. What we've seen since is such a massive dumpster fire, I actually would prefer those prequels over it any day.
A couple of weeks ago thr mayor of West Hollywood said on live TV during a gay pride parade that he was so excited to see all the children there. He should be on a list instead of being mayor.
Facts. I wish we could rewind but I don't think we will ever go back to the way things were. New t.v and movies will continue to push whatever agendas they want us to subscribe to. Video games will be next but hey it is what it is
This is very true. I think that every show and movie should take a similar approach to pokemon where unless it's necessary tothe story, we don't need to know the sexuality of a character. And if we do need to know, It shouldn't matter what their gender or sexuality is, they should be treated the same as any other character. They should be treated as another character and not as 'ruining the franchise' but also not being overly cautious around the character.
When do we get the Star Wars episode about the aliens fleeing their own dystopian planets and coming to the Republic planet (some bringing their deadly alien drugs and a few insurgents) and being told they must accept these millions of aliens and their drugs abd onsurgents or they are horrible xenophobes. And the good characters will be large dark pigmented transwomen lesbians and hermaphrodites with artificial life support systems and cameos by blue state politicians. Then we can get the right people to see this episode and ONLY the right (by which I mean left) people.
Yea, same. But we, like every other racial group, have our lows. But we created the modern world and all of its comforts. We should all thank our ancestors for that. Just as I thank Egyptians for all the things they have done. And Indians, and middle easterners. Its all interconnected. Its good to honor our ancestors but we must be understand we did not do this alone. We just took everything and then kicked ass with it.
And Kit Fisto was green and had dreadlock/tentacle hair. And the Trade Federation guys looked like bugs. It's a galaxy of diverse aliens, and yet Disney wants to shoehorn in more boring human characters, because that's what the original trilogy focused on.

I love how inclusion is considered “propaganda”. Sorry there’s more than straight white folk in the universe. Sure the new movies suck, but it’s not because of the directors political affiliation, it’s more because Disney had no idea what they were doing with a beloved IP.
If you knew anything about Star Wars, you’d understand that there were plenty of political views being pushed in the prequels and the OT. Many political views that you all ironically gripe about today, but you still love the OT don’t you? Weird.
That's awesome, and I can think of several places that Yoda could have used that phrase, so I'm gonna pretend it's canon that just ended up on the cutting room floor.
I don't care if you're purple and are a hermaphrodite. Do what you want idgaf. But that's no excuse for garbage writing. Star Wars was always diverse and inclusive (Unless you are a Droid.) Disney ruining everything they touch makes me nauseous. I've canceled my subscription.
Most of the remakes and sequels out there in the last chunk of years come off as cheap fan fiction where the only people who will actually get into it and or enjoy it is, the writer and a small percentage of others who fantasize the same sort of stuff as the writer.
Don't really care about what George says he is part of the problem. He voted to keep the Disney board exactly the way it was. That board is the problem because there is no accountability for the trash they put out. They are just yes men for Bob Iger.
I've been watching the Sharpe series starring Sean Bean in the 90s. Highly recommend. A young Liz Hurley is especially hot in one episode. Also watching old Star Trek. Disney can burn for all I care.
James Earl Jones voices one of the most recognizable characters in all of fiction. I hate diversity in movies for the sole purpose of making quotas. When writers and directors are more focused on diversity and pushing their political agenda rather than creating a unique and inciteful piece of media, we get trash like the acolyte. Diversity and politics can absolutely be used as an asset in storytelling but if you aren't focused on making the story itself your product will be dogshit
I LOVED Star Wars ever since I was like 3 or 4 years old. It was my childhood. Watching the newer movies and shows, I can’t recognize it. It comes to the point where this isn’t even Star Wars. George Lucas is now 80, so the regret is really kicking in seeing as he did wind up living at least another ten years and he could have spent those ten years in creative control of the franchise. Now he only gets to say he has lived long enough to watch his children die, which is nothing that any parent wants to ever be able to say.
I wonder if he really cares, he can say they're his kids all he wants but at the end of the day I wouldn't sell my kids. I imagine he cries himself to sleep and wipes the tears with hundred dollar bills.
@@Faminetheblack At the time of the sale, George Lucas already had far more money than he could ever spend anyway. It was not just a monetary decision. I don't think he would sell his actual human children. He wanted to make sure he left his most prized possession in the world in the hands of what he and what we all thought at the time was a great company that could afford to keep the force going and seeing as he was getting old, it was more of a preservation of a legacy. He could not have foreseen that they were going to completely demolish it all or that twelve years later Disney would be the cringe company it is today. I think the first sign was when Disney erased all of the established canon and said they were going to rewrite their own stories. So all of the books that fans had spend the past thirty years reading, were out the window. There may have been something in the contract of sale that prevented him from openly speaking out against Disney or the new Star Wars installments, and there still may be, as I still see him choosing his words carefully. But he's probably at an age now where he's thinking well, I'm old, I'm annoyed, and I may as well speak my mind while I still have a mind to speak.

Sure the nice cartoon company might make good stories. But they might also burn it to the ground. His best option if he wanted to keep the sanctity of his work, would have been to just die with it. That way no one can destroy the thing he loved so dearly. Now 12 years later he's left watching his children grow up to be degenerate, gambling, heroin addicts that the white slavers turned them into. His final days aren't going to be of him dwelling about making something amazing, they're going to be about watching the thing he loved be so heavily corrupted that he may as well had never made it. Which is actually tragic. Idk, if I was in his position and I made something genuinely revolutionary. There'd be no way in hell I'd let anyone else touch it for fear of them destroying it. I'd much rather die with it in my hands than trust anyone to work on it with even the faintest iota that they damage it.

Long time ago we had no films with Black or Asian but with Jackson or Jackie Chan.

Iger, Disney, and Kennedy killed it.
There is no feeling, to it. its the agenda.
🙏
Disney happened.
The day George Lucas sold Star Wars was the day it officially died.

You’re so right. If you look at Jyn and Cassian in Rogue One there is a genuine building of their relationship, they come from different paths and become partners, and it’s all about the characters and the roles they play in progressing the story, and that’s great film making
And Leia wasn't even the top leader of the rebellion. Mon Mothma was, another woman and Leia's senior. Both of them politicians though.
ahh the nazi fems are just pissed Leia strangulated one of them in the 3rd movie ...

"Evil is not able to create anything new, it can only distort and destroy what has been invented or made by the forces of good." - J.R.R. Tolkien
@@MCharlesPainting huh?

It isn't just that Finn's potential was lost as he was relegated to comic relief, it is that there was never any intent to build on what was done before to tell a larger story right down to a lack of character development. How do you care about characters when they aren't developed and keep changing movie to movie? How do you care about a "story" when clues and foreshadowing from one movie is discarded and forgotten the next?

While I agree with you it is not how it works.

I think the first sign was when Disney erased all of the established canon and said they were going to rewrite their own stories. So all of the books that fans had spend the past thirty years reading, were out the window.
