I'm so happy with this update because they're updating what matters which is workflow, I just wish they would add pitch shift next to transpose for audio files in project window, hopefully in near future though I been asking for years.
Cubase 13 wish for me: folder bus tracks (tracks that act not just as folders to organize tracks, but also as a bus/aux track for their content). AFAIK, and please correct me if I'm wrong, Cubase was one of the first to implement folder tracks, yet they are the absolute last to add routing/processing abilities to them (Reaper has an absolutely brilliant implementation of this concept thanks to their underlying concept for what defines tracks, but at this point Pro Tools, Logic, Studio One - they all already have folder tracks with bussing). Would also love to see them revamp the way fades are displayed in the arrange window.
I agree so much man that'd be a treat
Hi Dom! I;m a Cubase user too! I'm waiting in the future
for Steinberg to add new features in Vari Audio like: Create pitch and Amplitude Glide + Sibilance detection! These are 3 reasons why I still work in Melodyne! Please, next time add these features!
OOOOH. Working on a song and I need vocal harmonies. I remembered a video where you talked about this in CB12....AND I FOUND IT!! Your videos are the BEST! I've learned SOO much from them!
Dom, you are 100% spot on about the audio to chords feature. That makes the whole Cubase 12 unbelievable. Thanks for sharing with us all the features.
You are the man! I don’t have anything in particular. I find all your videos to be the best by far of any daw tutorials. Thanks!!!
Hi guys. Thx Dom for your review. It’s time to update :). Cubase is the most professional DAW which I use. Ableton is great to work live, to compose to use Push. Reason with its modules is fast to create ideas but Cubase is my best studio DAW and in this environment I can work on the details of the mix.Thx Steinberg !!! Greet ;)
That warp and Q quantize alone is huge game changer to me. I used to spend nights correcting just vocals in my projects. Amazing
Every Cubase update excites me and continues to make me feel proud to be a Cubase user but this update stands out, now I'm insanely excited!!!!
Thanks for yet another superb video Dom!
Hi, thank you so much for this amazing video. I am really interested in knowing more about the FX Modulator and the Remote Midi Controller Mapping.
Another cool video from Dom. I would love to be able to use my Push 2 with Cubase as well.
Hi Dom, a deeper video about the FX Modulator would be very cool & thanks for the walk through in CB12.
Dom, I greatly appreciate your video. And it would be fantastic if you did a video on the VUs. I wrote Steinburg and requested they add VUs about 18 months ago and am so happy they have added them. Thanks
Just taken the plunge from 11 to 12.. this video is absolutely invaluable! thank you so much!
You’re at the very top of my fav channels to watch, learn and get inspired. Thank you😎
Love all the new updates, particularly on vari audio. It surely will speed up my work flow. Thank you steinberg and Dom.
Thank you Dom! I would be willing to watch you explain for hours and hours, very amazing features, I've upgraded!
love your channel, always come here for my cubase insites and tutorials, about to upgrade to pro 12 . Love cubase,
I always look forward to seeing you pop up in my suggested, even more so when it's to let us know Cubase 12 is now out, I love sharing that excitment :D
WOW! What a fully loaded video!? Loads of great stuff. I couldn’t stop watching. So wonderful.
I want you to deep dive into all these new features. It’s crazy how many new useful things this was. Thought Steinberg had reach the limit. Absolutely amazing.
One the top-list is Thempo & Time signature the Scale assistance and the chord functions. And the Logical Editor. - To name a few 🤪🎹😍Thanx 🙏
Great work, Dom! I am really interested to see more about the new logical editor - looking forward to a video about it!
Not having scale assistant before was the only reason why I would use 3rd party tuning software to generate harmonies. My cubase workflow just got hugely faster! Nice video Dom. Cheers!
Great video Dom! This is a brilliant update. Love the obvious new features but have been pleasantly surprised at some of the hidden updates. Still exploring.
Hi Dom! Awesome content, as usual 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 my video suggestion is: midi logical editor functions that could help prepare midi for a copyist. I’m a film composer and when doing mock-ups, orchestra samples need to be played and performed, but when I need to send midi to prepare the sheets for musicians it is always quite painful to go in and edit all the midi, quantize it, edit length etc. Thanks in advance and for the value you bring!
Excellent video, again! I would like to see a little light at the top of the screen which shows how many tracks are armed for recording. If you have a lot of tracks in a project it's easy to miss one that is off screen and leave it armed thus recording over something mistakenly. If we had a "light" saying, for example, "3" tracks armed but we actually only want to record on 2 then we have the chance to search for the extra track and disarm it. Maybe clicking on the "light" would just show the armed tracks directly on screen, like a toggle, giving you the chance to disarm it.
Great review! I really appreciate your energy and enthusiasm. Would love a video on loudness. The best feature is the scale assistant and the audio to midi.
This is beautiful to see Cubase improved to this level of which I have been experiencing them to dome upgrades long time ago as they are mostly to be the first DAW if not but one of the great pioneer, but congratulations for the new features. Thanks for sharing this.
Think I was at 1/4 of this vid when I decided to get this update. Looking forward to playing with the multitrack warping, scale assistant in VariAudio and the FX plugin (would love to see a vid where you explore it in depth). Really nice update and as usual an amazing vid Dom! Thanks!
I love the updates. I so badly have wanted to see the chord track inline with VariAudio since it was introduced a decade ago or so. It would make songwriting so much more efficient. 11:07. Thank you for the video.
Thanks so much Dom! Would love you to make the in depth videos for these new features please! You are our Cubase manual ;-)
Hi Dom. A big thanks for your videos. It's so much fun listening and watching you. Please keep it up.
I Love my Cubase 12 pro.
Great introduction Dom - Thank you !!!!
Would be nice to learn more on e.g. the FX Modulator, working with loudness in Supervision, the midi remote, and the Logical Editor
Great breakdown, so helpful to see application tips along with features. Only a hundred bucks to get to 12 from cubase 11... no brainer!
Thanks Dom! I look forward to all this with the inevitable update to Nuendo. 🙂
Great overview, great video, as always, thanks Dom.
In my opinion the varioaudio scale assistant and the audio to midi chords function seem to be the highlights of Cubase 12 for me.
One feature i am still missing is the automation of midi note length values on a track, like continually changing the gate value on old analogue sequencers. There is a midi note length compression/expansion among the midi modifiers, but you can not automate its values. The step designer offers gate values, but again, you can't automate them.
Maybe there is a way to do this via the new logical editor. If not, this would be my main feature request for the next update. I cannot think of anything else I'm missing in Cubase.
Man, that was a journey! :) Great video as always, Dom. I'm looking forward to upgrading soon. Cheers!
The scale assistant in VariAudio is huge, that's going to save so much time when creating harmony. I also like the chords from audio feature, that's a big timesaver. And the Verve piano sounds just beautiful!
studio one been had chords to audio..but we don't have the vocal alignment lol smh
For sure 💯
Wow! Finally ❤️ looking forward to more detailed videos :) I just vote in for every topic 😂
Thanks for the video. This update's a no-brainer! 2 things I'd still like to see in Cubase:
1) Nested/custom grouping of tracks & mix channels and the ability to toggle groups on/off with a key command (more like the way Pro Tools does it), as opposed to only being able to group channels within a folder track. Pro Tools' grouping is still wayyy better than Cubase in this regard.
2) Select a region + hit a key command = pre-defined fad in/out at beginning and end of region. Another Pro Tools feature that is a HUGE time-saver.
14:12 - audio to chords is already implemented in Studio One and it's bi-directional, so you can have chords in AUDIO FILE follow the chord track, which is bonkers...
Anyway, great video! I'm enjoying v12 Pro as well! :)
Thank you so much Dom Sigalas🙏!! For all of the amazing skills I have learned from you. And I'm an Cabase user since my first "Cubasis" at a floppy disc on windows 3.11 ( before windows 95) .
Thank you😊🙏💙
I can't wait to get my hands on it, thank you Dom, I was waiting so long for Scale assistant.
Ufff 🔥 definitivamente este Cubase es el futuro 👏🔥 excelente video Dom, muy completo 👏 sería genial ver un video explicando cada nueva herramienta al detalle 😍🎉
FX Modulator is probably a Shaperbox 2 clone but it appears to have more modules. I got Shaperbox 2 a couple months ago and its great but it's good to have it as a stock plug-in. Very powerful for sound design. In general I think it's a great update!
My thoughts exactly! I'm hoping Shaperbox releases a reverb module, that would be rad ^_^
I was going to buy shaper box. Glad that I didn't. 😉
yup its a good plugin but the workflow is not updated at all and still lot of minor bugs after all 2
Yeah it looks like shaperbox. I've used shaperbox for years it's absolutely amazing. I think the way Cubase has designed it might make it easier to use because the effects are built into the plugin. I think this is what I like the most in the new Cubase. I've wanted to be able to conveniently use modulators in Cubase for years now. Especially for writing Future Bass and EDM. Or just adding some subtle movement I think this is going to be fantastic.
Cubase needed a “modulate anything in insert slots” solution. This thing is just way too limited compared to what possible with cross plugin modulation in Bitwig or Ableton.
It’s handy to have this native solution for basic volume ducking & the ability to do vinyl / tape stop FX is nice, but I find it a bit of an odd choice to limit this functionality to one native plugin, when cubase has no intuitive solution to modulate inserts.
I can only assume that cubase isn’t built for audio rate modulation, as midi cc is the only method available, but it’s possible to feed audio into plugins as a sidechain source, so why not just add a phase & frequency input to the VST architecture, so that audio rate modulation would be possible from one plugin to another? Feels like a bit of a swing & a miss finally doing something about native modulation but limiting it to a multi fx plugin consisting of all the same FX reused across every steinberg environment & instrument as it is. Plus there are many very affordable 3rd party tools to do this already like LFOtool & shaperbox. The 2 new plugins added to v11 were basically native alternatives for widely used plugins like OTT & ozone imager (which are both free anyway) so why waste time on this?
Multi track audio warp is the only new feature that I may ever use. I just wish more time & resources would be put into future proofing the DAW itself, and less on adding native solutions for 3rd party tools that are free or extremely cheap.
I also found it an odd choice to include a compressor in FX modulator, but not an EQ. I don’t think I’ve ever assigned an LFO to a compressor’s settings in my life, but an EQ would’ve been welcome for modulating a series of notch filters or being able to create custom filter shapes (if the entire EQ curve freq could be modulated - like Khs slice eq can)
Oftentimes it really seems like whoever the “ideas people” are at steinberg really aren’t thinking these things through properly, or are living 10 years in the past. Phat FX (formerly Camelphat) was added to logic years ago. FX modulator is too little too late, when it comes to modulation.
I’m trying to like it, but it just makes me want to export audio to Bitwig instead whenever I hit a limitation or want to try a different 3rd party tool in the chain to modulate. It’s a real bummer they didn’t implement this to be used as a flexible modulation system. :(
This update is exactly what I wanted. Amazing, and thanks Dom for the video.
Amazing - this covers almost everything I could wish for. One last feature I really need from v13 would be normal horizontal scrolling in mixers (without having to point with the mouse in certain areas to do it).
Just love and big thanks for your high quality work!!!
Another awesome tutorial Dom. Guess I gotta save up for the pro version
Definetly want a video on the Logical editor. It was always a gem in Cubase all the way back in the Atari days, evewn it took some time to learn to use it
Logic Editor in Cubase ist a king feature of all DAWs! So many many great LE funktions.. very fast workflow with this tool if you use keycommands and macros!
Great introduction To Cubase 12 Video.
Getting more into Logical editor would be so great! And also Midi remote integration.
I am actually a big METAGRID User. They launched a Pro Version that includes Faders (they control CCs). I was thinking it would be so cool to be able to control cubase sends with them faders....
As a gamer without the time to play, I just found myself watching walkthroughs, so I didn't have to hustle and buy the game, install the game and play the game. With Dom's videos it's different, because even though I have no time to produce, I just find myself constantly updating and upgrading to everything he says :))
Lovely piano, really well recorded. Similar sampling technique to how the Hammersmith was recorded
I realize this is 6 months old now... but one feature that that would be amazing is folders/collapsible faders in the mixer window.
Also, I personally like to work on entire albums in one project. "Song folding" would be amazing... to be able to collapse the length of what you're looking at. It could also be useful with arrangement. Instead of trying to highlight 50+ tracks to copy/paste, you just click on the folder and move it around.
Cool! Please more retrologue/padshop tutorials!
Dom my man!! Killing it as always. Great video - hoping that if dongle-less is the future that the other products like Absolute and my sound packs go that way too or I’m still dependent on my dongle. Anyway great stuff my brother!! Look forward to what comes next
I'm so excited!! Thank you for making these videos!
Your videos are the best man. Awesome to learn from you.
Great overview of the new features, thanks Dom! Well, I would really like more in-depth videos of ALL the features, if that's not too inmodest 😉😁
So joyful and enthusiastic. I'grinned all the way through.
Hi Dom….. great overview…. Looking forward to what you might do over the coming months in terms of detailed dives into some of these new features :-)
The thing is that when an update comes out, I get this mixture of happiness and sadness at the same time. Sadness because I still haven't fully utilized all the features in Pro 10.5 and happiness because it's great to have an update in general, especially these new features, yummy! Now, with the upgrade is being on sale 40% off plus free plugins, it's no brainer to upgrade now or at least reserve it to Pro 13.
Great stuff Dom 🙂
Oh man, multi-track audio warp - I've been waiting for that for 8+ years. I always used to have to switch to Pro Tools for that, and was disappointed Cubase hadn't added it.... lots of other new features, but not that. Now I don't have to anymore 😃
It's a stunning feature. With the selection of the improvements cubase pro proofs to be the DAW for the professionals and also for experienced producers. The easy controler integration is also very attractive for experienced pros. There are allways two sides of updates: one side is for marketing and attracting new users and the other side addresses the pro's.
Love how Cubase has evolved, the only thing i would love steinberg to do now is tighter intergration with my hardware synths and samplers.
You should check out Omnisphere's hardware compatibility. It is actually insane.
Cubase 13 the only thing I would really love to see if having a rack like FL where you can quickly drop a drum sound into it and program drum patterns in one window while also being able to open them up in the piano roll. Currently you have to create a midi event, load in a sound, open the midi event and then program the pattern, then close the window, open a new sampler track, create a midi event, open the midi event click in the snare pattern and then proceed to do that with every sound. So much easier to just grab a sound, throw it in a lane, click in a patter, grab another sound, throw it in another lane right under it and be able to open those in a full window for surgical piano roll editing. So many steps kills creativity but in say FL or maschine, it's super easy to program drums in a pattern set up.
Thanks for the video, Dom! Cubase 12 has really got incredibly good functions. Personally, I am deeply impressed by the new MIDI mapping functions and the Audio-To-MIDI function alone. The latter is extremely helpful for me as a budding media composer when analysing amazing film scores from my great idols - fantastic! And I love Verve... So I would be very much looking forward to a video from you in which you go into a little more detail about using the Logical Editor. Thanks a lot in advance! 😍
Like your enthusiasm and how happy you are.
Thanks a lot for your enthusiasm, your understanding of the software, your knowledge and ability to explain it in a pleasant way
Fantastic introduction to Cubase 12! Along with all of the great new features, I will have an extra USB slot free.
Thanks Dom for great video. It all looks very promising. I would love to see the video on 2 new features. New improved audio fade in/out feature as well as new loudness ratio feature in Supervision. Thank you.
Hi Master Dom, always at top ! Thank's a lot for your work !
Thanks for the first video about cubase 12... you are the best 👌 Dom...
Thanks for your videos! I'd like to see the detail videos on logic editor and midi controls!
Vote for extended feature videos on all new plugins and newly added modules, please. Thank you for all the effort and work to educate and assist.
New features are amazing! Excellent video as always Dom!
amazing to see you so happy :) :) thanks. I'll upgrade my v11PRO
Great video. I got the message from Steinberg today that this was released, and I'll be checking it out tonight. I would love to see more on the MIDI Remote feature. In particular, is there better integration with Maschine, and mixers like the Allen & Heath SQ series. Thanks, Dom!
Me too. From what I can see so far it seems pretty good very user friendly.
Your last logical editor presentation was very informative for me. Thanks
These updates are amazing!!!! Please do some deep dive videos on the metering updates
I am very excited about this update. Can’t wait to update.
Thank you Dom. I just bought it. You really energise my will to create. Thanx again :)
Hi Dom. Great video. You've explained so many great features and this just confirms to me that Cubase is a world beating DAW. I'll be upgrading next payday 😄
Was really hoping for an update to how Cubase handles external fx and I/O settings, but this is pretty great for an update.
yes i was waiting that chord track thing.. nice 1
As always great video and definitely a very nice update BUT I have one request. Native instruments introduce it with the old Massive and now Serum, Faceplant, Pigments and so many other software have it. You assign multiples knobs to one knob and the turn them all with one automation,,, I know you all know waht I'm talking about, this will be incredible if we can do it with Cubase fx and synths. The Cutoff open and the reverb in the insert lower the mix but the send delay fx up etc etc with one automation / one knob,,,,,,, is it just me or this is one we should have already?
As soon as i heard cubase 12. I headed up right away to Dom Channel . There is no one as passionate As dom when it comes to cubase
your enthusiasm is contagious🥳
Cubase is sooooo powerful ! Without your videos I'll be a bit lost ;)
So, don't hesitate to go deeper into some of the plugins or features that Cubase offers :D So good!
Dom, I love your Cubase tutorials! They have taught me so much. One request that I have, however, is that being an Elements user, not all the features you demonstrate are available to me. Would it be possible to include which versions of Cubase the features are included in?
thank you for your videos. means a lot to me
love the passion :) thanks for the video
A video on everything sounds good to me! Thanks🙏😎
Such a nice video. You gained a new sub!
As a professional i love your contents, you save me a lot of time! 😂 Thank you so much!
Dom great vid thanks. Fade in / Out looks like it will save a ton of post production time. What is the default modifier key for this please or do you have to assign it in prefs?
The Native Mac Application is completely sick, nicely done!!
Cubase 12 upgrade is definitely a BOOM! Hahah! Nice video. I'm already using it (thanks to the grace period offer).
As soon as you mentioned "Dongle Free," I was instantly sold. It's time to upgrade from version 8.5!
As someone who has used both Ableton & FL Studio mainly, Cubase's workflow looks like a good middle ground between those 2 in a way. I haven't used this enough to know for sure if that's the case, but from what I've seen it looks promising 😁
Thank you for the great introduction! About which videos we want, the answer is yes! ;)
