I really like how it shows a colored line to know the difference between your hardware current status and the actual Cubase value in the MIDI control so you can safely work even without endless encoders.
We really like the new version, and are still learning new things new since 11 Pro. Doesn’t look like it will sway those working with Reaper and Pyramix/Masscore + Flux , but still a WOW upgrade.
I’ve upgrad it! Like it. Thanx for your walkthrough. Always fun to be watching and learning.
Roots on!
Having my tea and watching Chris talking about cubase 12! Hands down the best music production and cubase channel on youtube!!
It's really amazing to see how excited and and supportive cubase community is. There are many daws out there and Ableton live and others are even more popular than cubase. But the excitement and love alot of producers have for cubase is just on another level it seems (including me). I think the reason is that we discovered cubase as our last option and it's so good that we started to like it so much haha!
Thank you - well explaned. I got my update today and tried everything you talked about. My favorite is the FX Modulator.
Great to hear!
Thanks so much for this motivating vid! I'm now a full subscriber to your channel
Wow! Awesome! Upgrade to cubase 12 already loading. With all these new features, for me, it is worth it. Thank Chris for sharing. You are great!
Very welcome!
Phase coherent multi-track audio warp is my favourite new feature without a doubt. Just made a video myself on using the Cubase 11 version to edit drums but this new feature is so much better.
I'm glad you commented - I've now found your channel :)
My Cubase 12 is linking my tracks, I don't know how to unlink. I edit one track and the others end up edited as well! this happens randomly, I've tried different methods and they don't work! can anyone please help? I've uploaded a video showing what happens! I'd be grateful if anyone could help me.

@@jusssi9570 you need to turn off group editing on the folder track.
That Chord to midi functionality is going to be a gamechanger!
Man, you're rocks! Thank You for your course !!! I've learned so much!!!
You are sooo Welcome :-)
Very cool ! Waiting for the great moment to download cubase 12
Thanks for the great breakdown. MIDI remote integration, multi-track free warp, and VU meters in Supervision make it worth the upgrade for me. And getting rid of my really, really old dongle (which I always forgot when I went on the road!) is huge for me.
Couldn't agree more!
I'm definitely gonna upgrade (which I always do) :) Thanks for this great video, I'm super stoked to get C12!
Hope you enjoy it! :-)
Many other videos go over these new features as well BUT it's still worth watching this one! Chris (and the other top Cubase people) always point out some things not covered by others. No one has time to go over everything!
Thanks David, glad you like this video :-)
Great video! Thanks for share your opinion about the new C12. I hope you could make a video setting correctly the VU meter in supervision for RMS when recording. 👏🏾🙏🏾
It can't get anymore simple than this. Thank you soo much howtobasic!
You're welcome!
very cool, thanks!
Great video Chris! Steinberg should pay you a solid commission for the extra sales that will come from such a professionally clear & well explained demonstration of their new features.
That audio to Chords track is fantastic and would have saved me valuable time recently when collaborating. I'd never written down the chords to a song I wrote a while back so had to actually play my guitar again to remember them and write down with the timing but now it would take no time at all to get the chords to the collaborator, besides the main intended benefits of having those chords entered for MIDI. I usually wait for bugs to be ironed out but I want this upgrade now from 11 pro for this and other features!
Thanks a lot Ken! Glad you like this video :-) Yes, the Audio to Chord feature is awesome!
I Loved the Warping Features Very Useful Thanks
I love the Verve Piano! It sounds like heaven!!!😍😍😍
Thanks for the informative video Chris. Your channel is great.
Thanks you!
Awesome!!!
I could really have used multi-warp with the last project, bunch of DI+Mic recordings of guitar and bass. I tried to get tight recordings out of the session guitarist, but there is only so much you can do under time pressure - This is so going to accelerate my workflow, it's great! Also kudos for showing the phase problems when you just use group warp markers...
This is a powerful feature :-)

@@jusssi9570 you cut off the left side of inspector, so it's not helping. there is a keyboard shortcut for grouping tracks. First of all, check whether the tracks are in a folder track - there is a button you can add / configure, it looks like [=]. You can add remove these buttons by right-clicking a track and choosing "Track Control Settings...".
There is also a fixed shortcut in the edit menu: Edit / Group: Ctrl+G Edit / Ungroup: Ctrl+U
Cool Thank you!
Thanks for this nice overview! 👍🏻
My pleasure!
Thanks for the overview Chris, seems like there are some legit ease of use updates in this version.
You bet
that multiwarping and scale assistant in variaudio were a big need! already upgraded! thanks for showing Chris
Any time!
Wow bravo et merci pour ce tour guidé 👍👏🏻🎶
Thank you dear Selim for always wonderful, clear and helpful presentations!
I was wondering, is it possible to tell me the how did you created the titles on this video, very beautiful effect!
All the best!
Best Cubase Tutor hands down!!!!
Wow, thanks!
Thanks for the explaining,.... bought Cubase 12 Artist last week...... used Cubase 5 and LE4 before ..... glad I bought the new one Cubase 12 together with a midi control board with 8 chanels.... so we are going to clean up my PC to install Cubase 12 and it's features... and let CUbase 5 on the Disk.... I am curious how it is to use a new DAW....
Great video again Chris!! For me, in this update Steinberg is addressing the recent phenomenon which is user dropping Cubase for Reaper. I Say this because a lot of the new features seem to be inspired by Reaper. Tell if am wrong but that's my perception!!
The efect modulator is a dream come true!✊🏽❤️🍀💐🤙🏽🤩
Finally.. Allowing u to edit in the edit window. Wow. Stuff that Pro Tools has done for years. And they're usually last to the party!
Hi Chris, just to say I enjoy your UA-cam channel tremendously. I also have just updated to Cubase 12 Pro and it's fantastic. I was wondering if you would do a short video on the Korg Kontrol 2. It would be great if you could start from the beginning, like say, from firing the Kontrol 2 up. Do I hold down the two buttons for Cubase before I plug it into my computer? Then there are the Korg Kontroll Editor setup, what is the procedure before firing up Cubase 12 Pro? I did have it set up in Cubase 11 Pro and it worked fine when loading up Kontakt 6.7.0. The Korg Kontrol 2 seems to have thrown a wobbly and is all out of wack. I have tried several times to change the CC settings within Cubase, and I also changed them in the Korg Kontrol Editor. Oh please help Chris, my brain is getting a little too old for it. lol.
Thaks chris, great breakdown.
Very welcome
Thanks Chris. You are amazing. I've been working with Cubase for many years, but you have taught me so much. Very grateful for your talent, enthusiasm and dedication. One quick one. I have created an Chort track for one of my guitar tracks, which is insane. I attached a HALon keys, and amps everything up. Amazing tool. However, when I tried to create another Chord track for another audio track, it wouldn't allow me. It just replaced the original audio track chords. Can I do this for multiple audio tracks, polyphonic? Grazie mille
Wow. This new piano plugin is really awesome! It have many great pad tones I want to use!
I recently upgraded to Cubase 12 pro from 11 pro. My absolute favorite feature is being able to extract chords from a mixed audio recording.
The mapping presets are just awesome!
Good job Chris, thanks for the update.
Thanks! 👍
Hi Chris, Thank you for this great overview. it convinced me to do the upgrade. One question: i also have the Arturia keylab 49 Essential, and while the faders and transport control works,
i seem to can not assign the big user buttons on the left. i would like to assign record enable / monitor enable on Focus of a track, but if i try and do the assignment, it won't react on me pushing those buttons. Do you have the same problem? Thank you for your time, and thank you for your great videos, they are incredibly helpful!
Thanks Chris for your review !!!
Any time
Well I held out until 23.57 until I thought "nope. can't resist any longer" and went and purchased it. Very excited! The MIDI controller mapping is likely to be very helpful, I have found it a bit fiddly in Cubase 11 and earlier versions. I've been desperate for multitrack audio warping for a long time. It's going to speed up certain workflows no end. And then the FX modulator got me sold. Looks very exciting.
Enjoy!
Just upgraded…and just about to start a new music project, perfect timing! Audio chords to midi is a big one as I’m not a piano player.
Thanks for the insight Chris!
Have fun!
@@mixdownonline love your insight and knowledge. Thanks for all you do.
This is the most beautiful sound and quality. I love it .
Where do you get one ?
Top!!!
hey Chris ! Thanks for the video 😀
Fait plaisir, Michel!
lo maximo , cubase forever
Create chords from audio is fantastic feature. I cant wait to use that one.
It is for sure
Great overview Chris...just the right tempo ;-)
Awesome, Thanks!
Nice!!
Thanks!
Fantastic features :)
Glad you think so!
Super thanks Chris
You are welcome
I have upgraded, its definitely worth it, great they have improved the look of the sample editor and the audio to chord is cool, no dongle is very welcome easier to work with the laptop.
Great to hear!
😲😲😲Audio to Midi as easy as this??? Midification?!🤪 This is insane!!! I researched this option along the internet a decade ago starting to use Cubase Elements and couldn't find anything near this feature anywhere.. a friend was laughing about my fantasy, telling me that it would be technical impossible hahaha! Remember it so clear, but now the time fantasies become reality has arrived! Thank you Chris for the nice research and cool demonstration!👏🏽🎆🎧🏆🎊
Thanks Chris for the update, Not really sure if I want to invest in this new version/update, I like the added AFX the WARP seems interesting regarding the Phase correction. The Chord event seems also helpful and a nice addition, is this new? I have never seen it before? I will check out Cubase for more information, right now I don't see me running to the purchase department to grab it? Also we run into this issues with Apple and their upgrades to see if both are compatible ???? information on this would be helpful also. I always need to call Cubase in Toronto to ask if upgrades are okay without affecting Cubase or Apple. I think it is a good idea to stay current but again you might have a suggestion which would be helpful. Thanks for your Education and updates much appreciated. Thanks from Bruce
The Chord track has been there for a while. Cubase 12 supports the Apple M1 processors.
Got myself new Version 12 nice.
thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
Chris, as always very good overview. I would like to see Cubase 12 integration with Faderport 16. If the situation is better. Thank you.
I still use it with Mackie Control, I still think it works better this way, but I will take the time to experiment a few things though
Looks killer! And great review! Question: Did they improve the horizontal scrolling on the arrangement screen or is it still pretty choppy? Now that Cubase ditched the dongle, it's the only thing holing me back from switching from Logic.
Doesn't look choppy!
Thanks so much Chris :-)
Any time!
Thanks Chris, definitely worth the upgrade I think, was waiting on your video! Will you be updating the Cubase course with new info?
Yes, I'm working on it right now :-)
@@mixdownonline great!! I can’t get mine to activate, server must be getting hit bad! I’m also waiting on my new headphones coming, Austrian Audio Hi-X65 , thanks for help in choosing them!
Thanks for your hard work Chris! I appreciate it. I’m switching to Cubase, from Logic after 12 years. I just realized when I import a stereo file into a mono track, it doesn’t convert automatically to stereo, like Logic does. I can’t find a solution for this. Please, help!
I purchased v11 in January so I'm eligible for the grace period upgrade. BUT.... even if I wasn't, I'd upgrade for the audio to chords feature. That's HUGE for me since about 1/4 of my projects nowadays come from other artists where there's rarely any MIDI data to be able to determine the chords. I will say I'm a bit disappointed I don't see any improvements to the expression maps negative delay problem.
Huge!
is it out already? niceeeee
Phase coherent audio warp is a game changer! Bravo!
Big Time :-)
Hi Chris, thank you very much for your video and tutorials.
I was wondering whether you knew of an effective way to be able to use all the synths that have been removed from Cubase 11 (Prologue, Spector, Mystic and LoopMash). These no longer work on Cubase 12 and Steinberg gave hardly any explanation or warning to existing clients. There have been some solutions provided in the Steinberg forum but these do not seem to work in the long run. Any ideas?
Cheers.
That chord track for audio is going to be super creative to play around with! Also I believe you can quantize the audio track (like acoustic guitars) quickly with audio warp right?
Yes you can but you will need to add the Warp points yourself
Thank you Chris for your good and helpful instructions. I have a QC Question:
I have an old Yamaha 01V with 15 motorfaders. I can control my faders in cubase with the 01V faders, but the motorfaders doesn´t follow the cubase automation. how can I set the midi out of cubase to control the motorfader at the 01V? ...is it possible with the new QC´s?
Thank you very much for this review, Chris. I guess you were busy in the last days.
Lol! Yeah!
Waiting on Atmos and Logical Editor updates before I buy love ya chris peace ☮️
Any way to save/import/export mappings (not scripts) of vst plugin parameters so they can be easily loaded into new projects? EG: I’ve programmed 24 Padshop parameters (that’s in addition to the Focus QC’s)-but have to disable the Midi Remote and return to the Generic Remote now because MIDI Remote doesn’t “file” these…?? Always enjoy your vids.
You are the best!
Thanks!
Can the multitrack warp feature be used in the drum quantize panel?
In 11 you either cut, quantize, and crossfade, or you cut, quantize, and timestretch.
Is this possible?
Hi Chris, I installed Cubase pro 12 but I cannot find HALion Sonic SE on the instrument directory. I installed everything via download manager and checked that the HALion is installed in the computer. Would you please help me what have I done wrong?
Thank you for sharing this wonderful news with us. Is it just me or does there seem to be an uncanny resemblance between FX Modulator and UVI Shade?
Thanks 😊
You're welcome!
huge cubase fan!
been on board since CB6 😢😅
Great video. Does the midi remote function work with sending cc messages? Or would you have to stick with using the midi controller as a generic remote and map it
No, it doesn't send cc messages
all amazing. does that FX modulator lfo go into audiorate?
Question regarding new midi remote what is the relative mode and these modes that have been added ?
Not sure I understand your question
..just upgraded to c12, but it crashes at start on my hackintosh big sur , it works good on macbook big sur, so i will have to go for windows11 i guess, thanks a lot for your videos Chris..
SOLVED!!...it was apple alc kext, without it cubase will crash at start..now works great!! regards Chris....
Yay, no more annoying dongle. It's about time. I have already switched to Studio One but the update looks interesting.
Finally got my PC to behave! Installed Cubase Pro 12. This DAW is insane!
Hi Chris, Cubase 13pro is a nightmare with midi remote. Do you happen to know how to setup transport buttons in midi remote for the KEYLAB 49 MK2, they are not being picked up?
Awesome! One quick question regarding Feature 1 - Midi remote integration: When you set up the midi remote with the different plugins in your flow, is that only enabled in that track, or will it be global, so when I open up a new track/session, the settings are there?
Yes, the plugin control mapping will stay the same on any tracks and insert. Your controller will only control the selected plugin so not more than one at the same time
@@mixdownonline Thanks!
Hello, is there also the same limited SpectraLayers in cubase 12 as in the cubase 11 version or is there SpectraLayers more extensive in cubase 12?
Hi how easy is it to update from 10.5 plus whats the price.. thanks
hey chris, love your videos.
could u please tell me the specs of the computer on which u use cubase? thx. and keep up the good work👍👍👍
Thanks! ua-cam.com/video/d813T4zzpqk/v-deo.html
audio to chords is definitely a nice feature.
Oul beard looking polished man !
It has too! :-)
Overall a decent update. PLE finally got some TLC with plenty of new filters and actions. New audio warp features are 👌
ONE big gripe, that’s been missing since v10 is the localised undo function. I wish they would just put this back in already. 😩
New audio warp is a killer :-) Thanks for watching, bother!

@@jusssi9570 Looks like you've grouped the selection. To ungroup them, select the events then press Ctrl+U (mac cmd+U) or go to Edit > Ungroup. To group tracks you can select them and use Ctrl+G (cmd+g) or Edit > group 👍
I can’t seem to find a video showing everything that comes included in Cubase 12 pro. I’m trying to find out how many virtual instruments, and are they only the SE versions, or full versions. Or do you have to buy the full versions separately
I think that it is a great improvement to Cubase and I am looking forward to utilizing its features...
Hi. For some reason a whole bunch of my VSTI's (Battery, Keyscape, Trillian etc) have unnecessary gray areas around the usual instrument display. "Allow Window To Be Resized" is selected, never had this issue with 10.5 or 11. its really Peeing me off as it taking too much screen space. I'm usually able to have multiple windows open but the way it is at the moment I can barely have 2. If I press "VST quick controls" on and off, it gets rid of the unwanted areas but once u close it and re-open it, it goes back to the old screen so I have to repeat the same process of switching "VST Quick Controls" on and off again. I'm sick of doing this for each instrument, is there a setting where I can get rid of this?
It's easy to take for granted what you can get for relatively little money these days, I can remember using Cubase on an Atari synced with an Adat, chuck in a basic mixer and a few effects processors and you'd be lucky to get any change back from £10,000 .
There are times I wish I could give a double thumbs up. This is one of those times. Excellent explanation of features. So many videos include a lot of verbiage with little substance. Thanks again for your efforts and all your videos.
Much appreciated! :-)
