I feel like I’m listening to krautrock, funk, early electronic, hip-hop, and R&B all at once. Felicia, Dave, and co. may finally have answered the question, “How do we inject trance into contemporary R&B?” Although I don’t know who asked them in the first place, their answer was stunning! This iteration of Dirty Projectors is my favorite yet. Also loved the final two EP’s from this set of 5. Not so much a bossa nova guy, but hey, different strokes.
I love it... Such a good vibe, good swing to it....lyrics very interesting... I rarely like present day music releases, but this band I've only discovered last week and really love it's sound...
Oh and those pads in the beginning remind me of the Disasterpiece OST for Hyper Light Drifter ua-cam.com/video/bq7a_ktfYck/v-deo.html , and of course Lanksy's Mild und Leise
@@angelo.6838 yea ! that's definitely the beginning of the track, good ears, thanks !!! The bit I'm thinking about is 0:07 til 0:16 but it reminded me of that OST stylistically only
@@Cwestlov so the album that came out AFTER the album that Dave helped produced sounds a lot like this and you think it is somehow Dave that cribbed the style from her....? No one should be accusing anyone here of stealing anyone's style when they all openly collaborated, but Dave has years of making music like this under his belt and has crafted a unique style and sound that many in the hip hop and r&b world admired and copied. It's pretty silly to say that he took her style.
@@0228christian and you claiming he has all this music that sounds in any way close to WIGH is some wildly disingenuous BS and if any of these r&b/rap artists took any cues from him it was because he was the one taking cues first. FOH.
This is honestly a great song and band- Just healthy criticism: in some places it sounds repetitive, and a little I like, but after it goes on without changing a lot, it kind of sounds too repetitive
Gabriel Gonzales i respect your opinion, but just saying that you love her in the band is perfectly fine. You dont have to pit these women together.peace.
the samples at the start are from Harry Belafonte's 'Dolly Dawn' and Ravel's 'Une Barque sur L'Océan'
I hear Ravel's "Miroirs III. Une Barque sur L'Ocean" in the beginning. Nice reference!
I love her. She is delightful.
Massa!!!
She was in another band called Ava Luna. Check them out; they're very Dirty Projector-esque.
🤯🤤
“FEEJY FEEJY FEEJY FEEJY FEEJY FEEJY” - David Longstreth
