Thanks for the vid., however when you grab the mag by the bungee cord and try to pull the mag out, you're actually tightening the retention. But at least you're consistent and its apple vs apple comparison. Another very important factor that I would have appreciated if you had discussed is the price. Thanks.
The Idogear magazine holders you have are a Chinese knockoff of the G-Code Scorpion magazine holders. You can release some of the bungee cord to reduce the amount of grab the Idogear holders have on the magazines.
g code scorpion rifle pouch.....can attach to Teklok. The pouch also stays more "open" so it is quite easy to reinsert magazine as opposed to the HSGI tacos that are soft pouches
Like said before the idogear are knock offs of the gcode mag pouches. I have gcode and they work awesome especially when I adjust the bungee tension. They are pricey though. I have been looking at the idogear to get a couple more for the cheaper price. After watching your video I’m guessing I should stick with the gcode. Thanks for the video.
Good review and comparison I think I’ll probably get the idogear rifle mag pouches for mounting to my belt for 2 gun competitions and just range use. I think they should be good for that since I’m just getting started and I don’t want to spend a ton of money on high end gear. Looks like I should stick with the HSGI or gcode taco mags instead for pistol. Or maybe just a cheap double pistol mag plastic holder for belt side mount. I need a good option to hold two pistol mags support side on my belt that won’t break the bank.
Just letting you know there’s a reason the idogear mags have extra bungee, you can adjust the size lol if you release some and stretch the pouch it will fit any mag you want also don’t test retention by grabbing the friggin cord what are you thinking 🤣😂
Pappy T's Pews n Things it’s all good bro I apologize If I came off rude but I laughed so hard when you were like “well that one hurt”! 😂 haha I fit a scar H mag into mine just to see if it could and no mater how far you stretch it 308 mags will stick like hell but 62x39 and 556 shouldn’t stick at all I actually ended up putting a bit of baby powder on my mag and repeatedly pulled it out and put it back in and now the weird rubbery material inside the pouch is a little more slick and dry made it a lot easier to draw my mags,
@@AyeMane117 I've been looking at these IDOGEAR mag carriers. Mostly because I can't quite justify spending the money for one gcode carrier when I could get 2 of these for the same price. Pretty much identical replica but they dont say USA on the front. I was thinking of also fashioning a thin plastic or kydex insert that would cover the front and back sides on the inside of the carrier to not only help keep the carrier open but make it easier to draw a mag from based on this review. Just adjust the bungee tension until retention and draw resistance is to my liking.
@@chrish5224 I'd say go for it bro I've got two of them and they're super slick I dig them a lot and they don't feel cheap either the retention is amazing adjustable of course but certainly worth the money I'm going to get the pistol mag pouch next
Because that's what he had! Most of these channels get free gear in return for glowing feedback. He was giving his honest opinion. I much rather see an honest but perhaps an incomplete evaluation than to see a commercial designed to camouflage itself as an honest review!
735 Ok. I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt, that you know for sure that is his reason. Maybe you guys are Facebook friends or friends in real life. But as you said most channels, but not all channels get gear for free. Here’s the thing. When a person decides to make a UA-cam channel, they should be ready to take criticism. It’s not going to always be positive. How many times have you watched a TV show and thought why did it end like that (Game of Thrones). But you can’t leave a comment on your TV. Just like you would prefer a certain type of review, I have my preferences too. But I respect your opinion. I say if you don’t have the money to do reviews of real gear, then don’t do it.

Thanks for the info! I will have to get a set of G-Codes and try them out!

Triton659 i run both and if adjusted correctly, the idogear are a fierce competitor
What? After seeing they perform great you're saying no thanks? Okay. I like them. The rifle ones, anyhow.

Good to know. Honestly, was trying to come up with a way to pull without gripping the sides

No kidding. I was scratching my head watching this.

have you tried these with a 50rnd extended pistol mag at all?
Can I put a p90 mag in it
Why did he choose knock offs (Idogear) to do this comparison review???? 🤷🏻♂️🤔

They ripped off the gcode scorpion mag pouches design
