This is such a good video, Carrie! 🙌 I'm a cycling instructor, and just a note - make sure your knees are in tight (almost "knock-kneed") when you're riding, rather than flaring out wide. It just protects your joints! 😊 I'm so glad you're showing people a more attainable way to get into cycling! 🥰
i got one for knee pain when hit workouts were too much, i have a question How do i know where to position the seat if it like her bike here can be adjusted closer to the arm rests or back and farther away. i want to make sure my knees are protected.
@@raeanncardoza684 That's awesome! 😁 As far as seat height, you want it to be high enough that your leg to fully extends at the bottom of the pedal stroke while seated; but not so high that you have to "reach" for the bottom of the pedal stroke. For seat positioning, you want it to be back far enough that the knee of your bent leg is aligned with your toes - but not over them (basically the same principle as a squat). For reference, I'm 5'7" and I like my seat pushed as far back as it goes. Handlebar height and positioning is kind of personal preference - whatever feels most comfortable. You want your arms to be able to extend long (without stretching out uncomfortably) while you're riding out of the saddle. I hope that helps!!! Enjoy your bike! 😄
@@LaurynJuhl omg you are amazing! this is so helpful, i just made the adjustments i Was too low and too forward lol, now i can feel more confident riding it and protect my knees! cannot thank you enough! form is so important!
@@jakiaturner9126 I have the sunny bike on Amazon!! I love it! Pay for the peloton app for $12.99 a month and you can do spin classes, scenic rides, also yoga boxing, bootcamps etc. I put it on my smart TV I LOVE IT
I always think about the French (or was it Italian) person, who literally ran in his BALCONY in circles 42km, to simulate running a marathon. Keep that in mind! Makes me running myself for free up and down my 2 streets.
I wanted to get on the Peloton train at the start of quarantine but I figured everyone else would want one too, so I had the better foresight to take that $2K and put it into Peloton stock instead. Now it’s about 10mos later and I’ve nearly doubled my investment. Much better move (no pun intended lol). I’ll just workout for free on UA-cam and make money off of Peloton instead of lose it 🚴
Just an FYI and maybe someone already mentioned but clip in pedals are WAY more about muscles you work than security. Clipping in allows you to work on both the up-pedal and the down-pedal. Thought I'd let ya'll know either way you go!
You can manage that with proper use of the cage ... In a spinning class ... Shoes are more for looks. Sometimes when I would be training for riding season doing very long spin sessions ... They would be beneficial to keep from fatigue... But less than 90 minutes... They are not a necessary investment.
@@AgapeLove878 a stationary bike is not a necessary investment lol. And it’s not about comfort or looks necessarily. It’s literally about working different muscle groups on the up pedal and down pedal.
I have a non-peloton bike. I measure resistance but counting the amount of times I can turn my resistance knob until I reach the max. For my bike it’s 10. So if the instructor says to have a resistance of 30 I just turn my resistance 3 complete turns.
sierra inspired me to get a peloton! it was so empowering and encouraging to see a plus-size woman on something i'd only previously seen skinny/fit women use. i've had it for 2 months and hit my 50th ride yesterday! it's been such a fun and challenging addition to my day.
also the positives of having a peloton itself is 1. no assembly! 2. they bring it to wherever you want in your home 3. customer service for fixes/maintenance to the bike. it was worth it for those alone lol
I wanted one for a year and Sierra’s review really sealed the deal for me as well. I’ve had it about a month and ride it practically every day. Love it!
I have been doing this hack for almost a year!! It is so worth it if you want to see if it is something you really like and then decide it the Peloton is worth the investment. 2 tips - you can do scenic rides from the app. Just go to “featured” at the bottom of the app and then scroll all the way to the bottom. They give you a few there. Second - I do recommend the cadence counter. So easy to just see where you are and not think about it. It lets me enjoy the class more and I don’t have to watch their legs and match any of their movements. Love the video!! Love love this hack!!
My honest and frank opinion: Unless you're training for the Olympics, you don't need a $3000 stationary bike. Peloton is ripping people off with the overpriced cost of their bike, subscription fee, and accessories.
This is the cost of a good road bike. As long as the electronics actually hold up for a few years it’s not a bad value. I just have my old bike on resistance rollers and use a bike computer but I understand that that take up more floor space than a dedicated inside bike.
Here for this!! But just wanted to let y’all know you can do Afterpay and do a monthly payment! I only pay $65 per month and it’s so worth it especially considering I was paying $90 a month for orange theory before this ! Edit: I meant affirm** but it’s a similar concept ☺️
Most bikes under 400 is not magnetic resistance, or with a very low rating score. After I researched all the bikes that has more than 500 reviews. I narrow down to Sunny 1805 and Joroto X2, both with more than 1000 reviews, rating 4.4+. Sunny is $599, Joroto X2 is $469. there are other options, while buying something without many reviews is always a bit of a gamble.
I got my peloton for my birthday and I love it so much. I wouldn’t change anything. It’s helped me immensely and it’s just a great community to be apart of. There’s a lot of supportive people you can connect with and the instructors are very interactive and nice 💗
I was given a peloton as a gift, but if I were buying I’d definitely go with a cheaper bike and the app. Some of my fav instructors are Tunde and Cody.
I bought this same bike a year ago and it’s held up well. Functionally it’s a great value, there a couple quality issues like the seat rotating and the handle bars feel a little bit loose. My sister just gave he access to her peloton account and it’s def a game changer.
I just ordered a peloton! But ouch yeah it’s expensive! However, I did do the 30 month payments without interest and it comes out to the same as my gym membership! I cancelled my gym membership and hope I actually use it everyday! Just mentioning as option for anyone who really wants the peloton. Thanks for sharing this option though! I almost did this!
I just bought one and did the payment plan with affirm. $50 a month. I know 5 people who have one and they absolutely love it. Like it's not even a question. So I am excitedddddd
i did this too! My bf and I cancelled our gym memberships and each pay half. It works out to the same price plus I was buying occasional yoga classes and I loooove Peloton yoga! I also have a friend whose roommates split the cost 3 ways which makes it very affordable per month.
I did this around June of this year. I bought a Schwinn ic3 and I LOVE it. A mid range bike, but I like that it has a cadence monitor and digital display, so I can keep on pace with the instructors. So much cheaper than the peloton!
Be careful 😂 I tried this peloton hack two years ago and ended up drinking the koolaid and got the actual bike. It’s the best purchase I’ve ever made! Luckily a few years ago I ordered on a Thursday and it came the next Tuesday, covid changed everything!
The sunny bike on Amazon is around 250.00 and worked for me great. I gifted it to a friend when I upgraded and she still uses it. PS Peloton’s other classes (yoga, meditation, running, etc) are phenomenal!
If I may ask was there anything specific that made you decide to go for “the real thing” versus the hack? Or just decided you wanted all the extras? Thanks for any input😊
another thing that you can do if you already have a road bike (so like, this is more for experienced bikers) is you can buy a bike trainer that you stick the bike in in the wintertime. My roommate did this and then she set up a little mini desk that she could put her laptop on, and the bike trainer she bought, I think the company had their own like classes/ challenges she could do.
@@livelongandprospermary8796 yeah! obviously if you don't already HAVE a road bike it's not as good a hack, personally I don't like road bikes at all so I'd probably prefer getting an actual workout bike like this. I am picky about how you sit on the bike!
Love this video! In case anyone is wondering, you can convert cadence numbers to mph by dividing by 6. It might take a few times to get it down, but after a while you’ll just know the numbers.
I legit did this exact same thing. I spent months researching DIY peloton. Scoured reviews and price comparisons and decided on the Cyclace. I waited until Black Friday to purchase (got it under $300!) and also purchased a Wahoo cadence sensor. They’re due to arrive today (as I impatiently refresh the tracking 😆). I was going to film my experience setting it up and using the Peloton app but honestly, your video does it so much better than anything I would have put together. Glad this video exists - made me feel better about my purchase! ✌🏽💛
I’ve been trying to convince my husband to get me the peleton for Christmas 🤪 but i hes convinced it’s not worth it lol. I am totally going to tell him about this hack 😅 wish me luck! 🤞🏽
Just made this exact purchase 2 weeks ago, the only difference is I did end up purchasing a wide bike seat for more comfort which was a great choice! I love this option so much and I love the pelaton app!! I've done the cycling videos, cycling boot camps, cycling arm intervals etc and they are amazing!!! So much variety, so much energy in the instructors! So much fun! Thanks Carrie!!!!
I am in loveee with your sweater, reminds me a lot of "Make It Pink/Make It Blue" Sleeping Beauty vibes! I remember you got it in a previous video I think!
You made me LMAO when you said you almost stress-bought the Peloton around election time. I definitely bought my Peloton during a stressful pandemic month. Great video. I succumbed to all the Peloton hype and finally got mine this week (10 week wait), but I love watching these hack videos!
I just saw I had replies to this comment from forever ago! Yes the Bike+ was worth every penny! I think my favorite features are: 1. being able to easily sync my Apple watch 2. The auto-resistance setting. I am used to changing the resistance as the the instructor tells you. But this feature allows you to just focus on your cadence and not have to worry about changing the resistance knob. I feel like I am getting the workout I am supposed to.
I have been cycling for 20 years ...and have taught and been a student in spinning classes for 22. I have all the fancy gear and shoes etc I just bought a 200 bike ... I use none of the fancy stuff... Just throw on some easy shoes and find a you tube spin teacher. Boom no monthly payment. I get a fabulous workout. Cycling shoes are really for when you are actually riding outside. They help with some energy transfer but you can manage that with the simple cage and making sure the toes are not pointed down. Shoes are really more of a fashion statement in class . I have worn them all these years ... But honestly ... They only come in super handy when I'm clocking some serious actual miles. In class and under 15 mile rides ... They are more for looks. I'm going to buy a WiFi projector for my kids and I am going to use it to give me a " destination simulation"
Disagree strongly that shoes are JUST FOR LOOKS. Better, proper positioning. Better use of muscles in both up and downward strokes, etc. Please don't misinform.
@@ginaoleary7799 they are mostly for looks in a spinning class ... They are incredibly beneficial on long road rides with lots of climbs. Maybe if you are trying shave a few minutes of your race time ... But that's not an issue in a spinning class. It just isn't. in spinning class the percentage of benefit is not the same by a long shot. I have spent 100s of thousands of miles on the saddle ...both in a class and on the road ... Lol but what do I know I have had all the bells and whistles and I have had none One of my favorite quotes is from a master ironman / triathlon athlete friend of mine ... Who always had " old " or no fancy modern equipment and always had pro level times... " It's a poor musician who blames his instrument" In other words ... It's your conditioning ... Not the equipment ... But maybe I'm misinformed ... Blessings
I love my shoes. For me they are a prison for my feet and once I am clipped in it requires an extra step to give up. I know I can’t be alone in this? Glad you are a pro rider and you have your own experience but I find the shoes helpful for power and motivation.
You will def get used to riding and the sore bottom won’t happen anymore lol. I love that you made this vid. I think a lot of people feel pressure to have the best of the best when in reality getting moving is all that matters unless you’re an extremely seasoned cyclist. I think another great option for some people is legit just getting a normal bike and a bike trainer. I support this most as i’m a road cyclist. It’s super nice because you can ride inside when you want but also actually ride outside also. Tiem athletic makes some really nice cycling ‘sneakers’ that are a lot more beginner friendly than traditional cycling shoes if you choose to eventually go that route. Most importantly happy cycling!
I did the same thing with a Schwinn IC4! I've been loving it! It syncs your cadence to the app automatically and there is a resistance conversion chart for the IC4 compared to Peloton that you can find online. Glad you found something fun to add to your wellness routine!
This is what I do! I bought an exercise bike in May that does measure cadence and resistance but was much much cheaper than the actual peloton bike and was available sooner. I really enjoy the classes and prefer to compete against myself more than being on the leaderboard and competing with strangers so that doesn't bother me at all. The music choices and the instructors are great. Plus once you hit 100 classes you still get the free century club t-shirt even just using the app! 10/10 would recommend doing this option.
I just bought a peloton on Facebook market place for $1400 and it came with $100+ dollar shoes that just happened to be my size! Totally recommend looking at second hand. A lot of people realize they don’t use it or have life events like moving or pregnancy that they decide they need to get rid of it
Really glad to see this video. I was really torn over wanting a Pelton, but the design of their bike kills my back. This great hack let's me get the bike that works for me and the workouts I want. Saving thousands ain't shabby either.
We did the same thing after watching Sierra video. At first I didn’t like not having the “numbers” but It doesn’t bother me any more. I have also grown to LOVe the other peloton classes in the app, such as cardio, strength training, yoga, I’ve even tried their treadmill classes at work (my work has a small gym that has a treadmill but no bike). The app is so versatile as I can take it everywhere with me I love it.
I’ve been thinking about doing this too a lot lately. Thanks for the review! You made really reasonable points about the cons of getting a non-peloton bike, esp the stats and numbers. I think for me it would be worth the peloton. But like. The money.
I do the peloton hack as well and it works great. Get a cadence meter for sure, then you can just guess on the resistance (not for stats, I just feel like that helps me get a better workout). Also, I am able to access scenic rides, I just use the iPhone app. Tunde is my favorite instructor! Love love love her.
I have this exact bike and I LOVE IT... I bought it back in July.... and I’m very pleased with it. I recently learned about “the hack”... and have been doing exactly what you did... and so far so good. Also, I don’t know if you know, but the peloton app is also available at most smart TVs, so I downloaded the app on my fire tv, and I can watch the classes while on the app on a big screen! Love your videos!! :-)
Highly recommend the fitness reality brand series. Offers classes just like Pelton- but also offers other workout equipment like treadmills, rowing machines, etc. I just got the fitness reality rower and the classes on it are great!
We purchased a peloton before the pandemic. It's been a great investment. I would say that another benefit of actually getting the bike is that you can track progress and compare over time
Yes I do this w my Amazon bike for $200 it’s the best thing. I also do the tread classes on a Costco tread. I’ve been doing it for years although a peloton bike would be nice I just can’t justify the price of them.
This is exactly what I did and I LOVED the app so much! I ended up buying the actual Peloton by financing and splitting with my live-in boyfriend and it WAS THE BEST DECISIONS. The Peloton bike is so much more challenging and I love actually having the specs and being able to measure your progress. But this is a great (and economical) way to get started!
I just subscribed in the middle of this video, and BOUGHT The bike !!! It just came up randomly and I watched as I’ve been longing for an indoor bike . Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks Carrie for the review. It's refreshing to see not everyone is jumping on the Peloton bandwagon and looking for more affordable options to pretty much create the same effect. I just purchased the Echelon Sport Connect from Wal-Mart, it's also sold on Amazon for just about $500.00. The quality of this bike is pretty incredible for the cost. Received it in 2 days. Easy to assemble. The magnetic flywheel is silent. On the Echelon App, you can track your output for free without any in-app purchases. I view this on my phone while casting the Peloton app to my Television. I absolutely love it. For months I considered purchasing the Peloton or Nordic Track S22i, but just could not justify the cost of the membership after paying so much for the bike itself. This bike also has amazing reviews!! Needless to say there are several great bikes that this "peloton hack" can work with.
To anyone reading this, I hope you’re feeling well and having a lovely day! If you ever need a chat in these weird times, my dms are always open!! Stay safe and remember to keep smiling, lots of love ❤️ ❤️
I brought a domyos 500 exercise bike, which I love. I chose it because I live in a small, old house which has limited plug sockets where I wanted to keep it, so needed one that was cordless (plus it's better for the environment and my bills haha). I don't know if it's available in the US or how much it would be, but the UK price was somewhere around £270 including postage from Decathalon. I just ride it and watch free videos I find on UA-cam, and it's amazing. I'd love a Pelaton, but I just can't justify that much money when something so much cheaper does the same thing. I'd rather save for a holiday or something when this is all over haha.
My husband got a wheel thing for his bike to hook it up in the house so it’s like a exercise bike and has something like the trails and app you are talking about. His only cost like $499
I saw the video where Sierra mentioned you can just use a regular bike and the peloton app. It was great to see it actually in practice, nice to see the pros and cons. I’m with ya and I’m not a numbers person. I recently had surgery and was just released to work out again, and I was just to thankful that my body was able to recover and get moving again!
I did something like this a few years ago. Got a cheap bike with great reviews (around $130), got two small connecting mats ($15) for underneath, and placed the bike facing the window of our very scenic 3rd floor apartment window (where I also set an old iPad I have). I did try the free 30 day Peloton app initially, but found it not worth the money, and instead just use UA-cam classes of various sorts!) I still LOVE IT and use it every morning!! Soooo worth it! 💕
You can get a cadence monitor pretty cheap, I use the wahoo one I got on Amazon for about $25, attaches to the pedal, and def helps with knowing if your intensity is where it should be.
Oh yes it does!!! There’s so many muscles you don’t even know you have that get sore from sitting in a saddle for the first little bit 😛 I miss riding so much!!!
I'm looking forward to getting an indoor bike, if you up your budget to $300-700 (or catch a really good sale) you can get a bike that'll track your speed and resistance etc as well as come with pre-programmed rides if you're not interested in getting a subscription to anything, and it's STILL cheaper than a Peloton. Also if a traditional bike seat sounds/is too uncomfortable, go for a recumbent bike, aka a horizontal bike with a full chair-like seat. Pros, 110% more comfortable than a traditional bike. Cons, you can't do stand-and-ride moves, so you're always fully seated. However I think the compromise of having a comfortable butt is well worth the sacrifice of not being able to stand and peddle at the same time.
I train for triathlon and have an outdoor bike set up on an indoor trainer. I had to find the right saddle for the exact reasons you mentioned - not all saddles fit for everybody, and consider the anatomy for men and women. I ended up with more of a men's saddle, but it is completely cut off in front, so there is no nose. It is a split saddle actually, where it is a split nose front so it doesn't dig into my soft bits up front. Life saver. Seriously, I remember trying to push through it when I first got my bike and how badly it hurt because it was just putting way too much pressure on my front. But, there are plenty of women who have no issues with a regular saddle, and men who also don't need a split nose saddle and can ride just fine. Saddle sores are common, too. I wear cycling shorts, though and there are shammy creams to use for that purpose. It's the moisture and rubbing from skin on saddle and fabric. It happens, but those hurt. Anywho! Just a little info from a cyclist! :) Enjoy riding!
I have peloton and I love it! I think if you already have an bike you don’t need a peloton but if not then I think it’s worth it! Comes assembled and has everything you could want in a bike!💕
Dont know if anyone else has said this but, you can google your particular bike and see how your bikes resistance compares to the pelotons. I just wrote it down and have it close to my Bowflex bike and covert it as necessary.
This is totally the way to go. I got my cheap knock off bike and used it for a year before ordering my actual Peloton. For me it became a form of self care and worth the investment. But if your exploring fitness options go for a cheap bike and the app. It will help you decide if cycling is for you or not.
I got the same bike a few months ago! It was packed super nicely and it was so sturdy and well made for such a low price. I had my boyfriend put it together for me because I wasn't even going to try. Unfortunately mine started making a clicking noise after its first use. I've used it since plenty of times but it's just extremely annoying and some of the negative reviews said that. I didn't feel like fooling with someone coming out to look at it or sending it back so I've just ignored it for now
Maybe you could look into a water bottle holder on amazon that holds that size and could just attach to the bike! There’s lots of sizes available. Fellow huge water bottle lover 😂
I financed my peloton through affirm! I pay roughly $65 a month for the bike (membership separately) and absolutely love it! Peloton also has an AMAZING referral program and I’ve been able to get about $1200 worth of credit to use at their clothing boutique! I’ve even sold some of the clothing and used that profit to put towards my monthly bike payments to pay it off quickly! 🤗
I think everyone’s kinda starting to get to that point in quarantine now where we’re like “ok I can’t watch Netflix every day, I need to start moving my body!!” Because my family just got a treadmill now, and a bike soon too 😂
I agree, I think a lot of us are at the point where we need to take care of ourselves physically. I got a Pilates Pro Chair with a discount and it's totally worth the money.
Another great bike option is the Echelon sport connect mine specifically from Walmart. You can connect with Echelon app freestyle mode for free which displays resistance (need to use conversion map) and cadence. This means I did not have to purchase the additional items to measure those. I use my smart TV Peleton app and my phone for the Echelon app for the metrics. Really nice bike.
Love this video! I did something similar and am loving it! :) For anyone that is worried about the sound, I would highly recommend looking for a magnetic flywheel, rather than a belt. It might just be my experience, but I feel like that makes a huge difference.
Love this-Great research and thorough detail! This is a good option for those who are looking for a hack. I will say that having owned a peloton for a couple of years, I would ride all different kinds of bikes at hotels and use the app when I traveled every week for work. No other bike even came close to the peloton ride. The smooth pedaling, the comfort and ability to smoothly peddle out of the saddle and the ability to calibrate to the instructors are the somewhat intangibles that it’s hard to describe or compare for a video. You don’t really have to care about your leaderboard or output numbers to find the calibration functionality (leg speed to resistance ratio recommended by instructor and music) so useful. After having had to use the app with other bikes I will say that coming home to my peloton was like night and day. It is an expensive bike because it’s an amazing bike. There are probably other bikes out there (nordictrack) that ride as well but then cost as much. For water bottle a cycling water bottle with the squeeze top usually fits and is sooooo much more convenient for grabbing and drinking while still pedaling. Even the peloton water bottle holder wouldn’t hold your 32oz Hydroflask. 🙂
And if you already have a bike and can't afford an exercise bike, you can get a thing to raise and secure the back wheel to turn your normal bike into an exercise bike! My dad does this to keep biking over the winter!!
Literally, I've almost purchased the peloton multiple times throughout this pandemic.... then I was thinking "why can't I just do it with a normal bike" and then you posted this video! Never knew this hack was actually a thing and I am HERE for it
I've been taking Les Mills classes (kickboxing, dance, cycling) for years, but stopped once quarantine started. I started subscribing to Les Mills On Demand (only $14.99/month) and have LOVED it! They have so many options for classes, lengths, styles, etc. and most were filmed at fitness conventions so I feel like I'm actually taking a class.
Thank you so much for this review. I love that you showed the size of the box, set up, and use. That is seriously so helpful when determining if this is a good bike for you. I appreciate it, great video!
I bought this same bike from a dope plus size influencer (moda chrome) and I love it! She had it all set up with wide saddle + cadence sensor. I also don’t love that I don’t have slip in shoes. BUT the hack I love for finding classes is using my laptop and saving it. And then it shows up on the app! Also have it on my TV.
My neighbor offered me an old exercise bike for free, and it works perfectly for my needs. I also bought a cheap hydraulic rower, which is really nice to combine with the bike, so i can switch back and forth every 10 minutes. Then i can either push myself a lot harder than if i want to exercise the same amount of time on just one of these machines, or i can exercise for longer periods of time before my muscles get exhausted. Also - my butt dont hurt when i switch like this ;)
I thought about doing something like this, but ultimately decided to get a Peloton. The financing is really good and makes it pretty attainable. I pay $53/month for the bike (0% interest for up to 39 months) + the $39 membership. I was paying $60/month for my gym previously so it’s not that much difference. I think it’s worth it. I like having the leaderboard where I can compete against my past self or my friends. It really encourages me to push myself. And I cannot say enough good things about the Peloton’s quality. It’s solid. I think you said your bike rocks when you’re out of the saddle. The Peloton barely moves. And it’s SILENT. It does make me a bit salty that the app is $13 without the bike. Like, are they saying the classes are valued at $13 but the metrics are worth $26? Because that doesn’t make sense.
Yes! We just recently purchased a Sunny brand bike and are doing the Peloton hack with it. Our bike does have a few more options than yours but mainly just the cadence tracker and dual option pedals for both caged and clip in. We are loving it!
Yes! I bought a cheap Sunny bike in October and have been doing this! I’d love an update in the future, and I’d love to hear your reviews of your favorite and least favorite classes and instructors!
I'm super curious how the apple fitness membership will compare to the peleton. It will be 10 dollars/month and one month free if you have an apple watch already. I'm pretty sure there will be cycling classes there and on the trailer they looked super good!
Also you can do the scenic rides if you go to featured tab on bottom of the app the have the scenic rides on the bottom... and if you tap on classes there’s a section on very top it says collections you can usually find the themed rides more easily.
I have the Peloton & love it, but this was a great walk through on ways you can save money!!! I am glad Peloton is at least trying to make things a little more accessible (with the digital app users!). I can't believe those were the 2 rides you started out with, definitely not beginner rides, so go you!!!
Am I looking to buy an exercise bike of any kind? No. Did I just watch this entire video because it was a good idea and well-executed? Absolutely!

@@raeanncardoza684 That's awesome! 😁
As far as seat height, you want it to be high enough that your leg to fully extends at the bottom of the pedal stroke while seated; but not so high that you have to "reach" for the bottom of the pedal stroke.

I’ll just workout for free on UA-cam and make money off of Peloton instead of lose it 🚴
@Bella's Shelf hell yeah! Glad someone else was three steps ahead too! Congrats 🍾
Honey, YES!!! Look at you thinking ahead! Wish someone would have told me to invest in TP, Lysol, and hand sanitizer stock a year ago.
You sold?
Gosh, that is genius
How would I be able to get into the stock market?

@@engallop yes! You get a 1 year warranty! Peloton comes to you and it’s amazing! I have used it twice for small things and it’s so great.

GURL. The vulva pain from bike seats is REAL. I have to wear special padded bike shorts to even tolerate it 😆
My honest and frank opinion: Unless you're training for the Olympics, you don't need a $3000 stationary bike. Peloton is ripping people off with the overpriced cost of their bike, subscription fee, and accessories.
I work for a Silicon Valley start up and so many people have Pelotons it’s ridiculous.
If you use it a lot it is worth it. I’ve had mine for almost 4 years and use it 5-6 days a week. It’s amazing.
This is the cost of a good road bike. As long as the electronics actually hold up for a few years it’s not a bad value. I just have my old bike on resistance rollers and use a bike computer but I understand that that take up more floor space than a dedicated inside bike.
Absolutely!! Unless you’re trying to flex for the gram than you’d be dumb enough to buy the peloton. Buy a cheaper one is always a smarter route.
You probably don't NEED a lot of things either, but I'm sure you buy whatever you want with your OWN money that you EARNED. Right?
Here for this!! But just wanted to let y’all know you can do Afterpay and do a monthly payment! I only pay $65 per month and it’s so worth it especially considering I was paying $90 a month for orange theory before this !
Edit: I meant affirm** but it’s a similar concept ☺️
Omg! I was paying 160 a month for orange theory. So so crazy.
Does the 65 include the membership fee as well?
@@brennahoran7349 no i still pay the app membership, but it’s still equals out for me ☺️
Omg same I went from OTF to peloton!
@alexa ríimmer what’d u think of orange theory? Like were the classes good?
I didn’t know this was a “hack” haha I have been doing this for like 1.5 years. I got a $150 bike from Walmart and it’s perfect.

Nice video Carrie, can you recommend a magnetic bike in your future video? again under 500 please...
I’ve seriously thought about getting a peloton especially after seeing Sierra’s video on it. But maybe I’ll do this instead!
Omg Cody is the best!
Only take Cody or robin the best
Ally Love is awesome too!
@@alexarimmer I like Ally and Kendall also.

I'm sure (!) someone pointed this out already but...it costs 2020...
Beaut.
I bought this same bike a year ago and it’s held up well. Functionally it’s a great value, there a couple quality issues like the seat rotating and the handle bars feel a little bit loose. My sister just gave he access to her peloton account and it’s def a game changer.
Your hair in the clip when you're ordering the bike looks so so pretty and soft! I love your curls too but wow
Love this and love that they offer monthly payments - such a better option that I didn’t even think about!
Love that this is an option & it’s interest free!
We've done the same thing! Makes sense to pay less for the Peloton than it does to pay 200+ for a cycle studio membership!
Same! I have the ic4. I found a resistance conversion chart on etsy too!
Padded cycling shorts make a world of difference !! Got some cheap ones on Amazon !
Sure does. My butt hurt for days before I used cycling shorts 😫
What! No way! 🤯🤯Thats why I was always declined cycling,, the pain on your 🍑! Not cute!!
I quit the gym and did the payment plan for the Peloton. I’m happy with it but I’m also happy they have the app so people have alternate options.
Yes I have my own bike and use peloton all and works well for me. I only paid about $400 total for bike and cadence monitor
App not all
another thing that you can do if you already have a road bike (so like, this is more for experienced bikers) is you can buy a bike trainer that you stick the bike in in the wintertime. My roommate did this and then she set up a little mini desk that she could put her laptop on, and the bike trainer she bought, I think the company had their own like classes/ challenges she could do.
I forgot that they make conversion kits for your road bike that convert it to a stationary bike! Great hack and it’s a 2 in 1 basically
I seen scenic rides all the way on the bottom of the screen. Also, I bought a speed/ cadence for about $50 from Amazon.

Hi lol what happened when you told him
Just made this exact purchase 2 weeks ago, the only difference is I did end up purchasing a wide bike seat for more comfort which was a great choice! So much variety, so much energy in the instructors! So much fun! Thanks Carrie!!!!

Did you get the bike +??
Any regrets? Or worth every penny?
I just saw I had replies to this comment from forever ago! Yes the Bike+ was worth every penny! I think my favorite features are: 1. being able to easily sync my Apple watch 2. The auto-resistance setting. I am used to changing the resistance as the the instructor tells you. But this feature allows you to just focus on your cadence and not have to worry about changing the resistance knob. I feel like I am getting the workout I am supposed to.
I have been cycling for 20 years ...and have taught and been a student in spinning classes for 22. I have all the fancy gear and shoes etc
I just bought a 200 bike ...
@@ginaoleary7799 they didn’t say that though, just that they’re mostly for looks. Chill out.
Lol but what do I know
I have had all the bells and whistles and I have had none
One of my favorite quotes is from a master ironman / triathlon athlete friend of mine ... Who always had " old " or no fancy modern equipment and always had pro level times...
" It's a poor musician who blames his instrument"
In other words ... It's your conditioning ... Not the equipment ...
But maybe I'm misinformed ...

Which bike???

Another small pro of the Peloton is that you can workout with friends who have a peloton and see and talk to each other.
Whaaaat?! That is SO COOL

Highly recommend the fitness reality brand series. Offers classes just like Pelton- but also offers other workout equipment like treadmills, rowing machines, etc. I just got the fitness reality rower and the classes on it are great!
I would suggest that you get a cadence counter if following the classes. It makes the world of difference!

I did try the free 30 day Peloton app initially, but found it not worth the money, and instead just use UA-cam classes of various sorts!)
I still LOVE IT and use it every morning!! Soooo worth it! 💕
I did this hack! The cadence monitor helps! Also,I chromecast it to my TV and watch the classes there.
You can get a cadence monitor pretty cheap, I use the wahoo one I got on Amazon for about $25, attaches to the pedal, and def helps with knowing if your intensity is where it should be.
Speaking as an equestrian saddle soreness can also come form actual saddles and oh my gosh it hurts for a while
Oh yes it does!!!
"I like following the rules" I've learned that Drew & I are basically the same person.
Yep so true. I’m poor and young so I just go outside. I want to play at the basketball courts but they are not allowed to be up in our state.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Yep! It is called a cycling trainer. My husband uses one every day in the colder months.

CARRIE SOS! 🚨 I just finished your storytime playlist. It really got me through quarantine 😭🙏🏼
Thank you so much for this review. I love that you showed the size of the box, set up, and use. That is seriously so helpful when determining if this is a good bike for you. I appreciate it, great video!
Also you can’t rank on the leaderboard that’s also a con .. if you like to compete or see where you fall you can’t do that wo the actual peloton bike
I would love a one or two month update on how your liking it!
Yes! We just recently purchased a Sunny brand bike and are doing the Peloton hack with it. Our bike does have a few more options than yours but mainly just the cadence tracker and dual option pedals for both caged and clip in. We are loving it!
Maybe in like a year you and Sierra can do a collab where you try eachothers bikes?
Did you ever end up trying this?
Also you can do the scenic rides if you go to featured tab on bottom of the app the have the scenic rides on the bottom... and if you tap on classes there’s a section on very top it says collections you can usually find the themed rides more easily.
Yes!! After I heard Serria talk about this last week I went and did this hack.. SO Excited to get my bike!!
I have the Peloton & love it, but this was a great walk through on ways you can save money!!! I am glad Peloton is at least trying to make things a little more accessible (with the digital app users!). I can't believe those were the 2 rides you started out with, definitely not beginner rides, so go you!!!
also you should join the Peloton digital app Facebook group!
