You should do a comparison video with Sierra Schultzzie. She has a Peleton!

Others have mentioned this, but a magnetic resistance rather than the felt pad resistance will be entirely silent. Also, the weight of the flywheel will make a difference in the steadiness. My husband and I hopped on the peloton hack train a few months ago with a Sunny brand bike from Amazon and it’s totally worth it! Your video gave us the initial idea, thank you :)

The Peloton is pretty much silent, the only noise I noticed was the “washer” on the cleat from my spin shoes, which I just tightened, but it’s so quiet. My husband could do it and I could sleep through it - if it wasn’t for his breathing.
I broke my butt in by using spin bikes at my gym before the Peloton came and I honestly thought I (my butt) would never recover. After a couple weeks of consistent use, no more pain. When the Peloton came I got on and no pain, no shorts/seat change needed either.
Cody Rigsby is my favorite instructor, just love him and his playlists. It’s like hanging out with a best friend.

I bought a peloton hack bike after seeing your video, I had been considering it anyways and then your information helped push me over the edge and I LOVE IT! We got a different bike that had a higher weight capacity/height capacity and built in cadence/mileage etc. but overall super cheap way to enjoy cycling again and feel safe doing it at home! I was an avid cycler at my gym before and I can say that the workouts on the peloton app are just as good as going in person to a studio. Overall love it and highly recommend + big thanks for testing it out first and giving such great comprehensive information! ❤️❤️❤️

Get the QZ app to and use it with the Peloton app. It will give you a resistance conversion. Not sure if it would work for your specific bike since it doesn’t have Bluetooth but it’s $4 and if you have a Bluetooth bike , for example for me, it tells me my echelon resistance and then my peloton conversion. Also it will connect to a heart rate monitor that will connect to the app and it will tell you output too (labeled as kjoules in the QZ app).

The Peloton app is the best thing I have ever purchased 😂 It is so much fun!! Barre and Pilates are my go to’s. The instructors are fantastic and I can’t wait to buy a bike 🙌🏼🤍
Carrie, you should do a full on review of the app and take different classes! 😇

Literally just got my peloton bike+ delivered today! I was using my sister’s and it’s super quiet so def recommend if you live in a apartment noise def won’t be a problem with the peloton. Plus it automatically moves to the resistance the instructors are saying so you don’t even have to think about it! You can alway finance it and do monthly payments which is like basically paying for a gym membership 💛

We were looking for a bike last March (when everyone else was too and had very limited options due to availability). We ended up buying an Echelon bike. Echelon, like Peloton, has classes on and off bike (cycling, boot camp, yoga, pilates, weights, etc...) - it is an amazing app with TONS of options. One of the great things about Echelon is that they have different bikes at different price points. There is one available at Walmart for around $400-500 up to the one with the large screen attached for around $1500. I have used both Peloton and Echelon and found the online classes very comparable and equally as great. Just another option. :) I love this hack though - gives people many options if they are interested in at-home cycling classes.

I was using a used gym stationary bike by the company SPiNNER for almost a year and really enjoyed it. I pulled my bike up to my computer and pulled the app up on the Peloton one app and it was great. Nice that you can pause a ride because you aren’t competing. It was hard for me to know where my tension was- I had no way to measure output...which was fine but I wanted to know if I was pushing myself.
When I got the peloton bike plus, it was a total game changer for me. Being able to monitor my heart rate, my zone, and where I show up on the lead board is super motivating to me. I went from a nice ride 3-5 times a week to riding 6-7 times a week and I am motivated to work harder. My fitness has changed/increased tremendously. I do enjoy all the face book groups, I like being able to use the leader board filters so I can do a ride and know who is riding with me or filter to a group (like Cody’s or by my state or age).
I think pulling or a trainer up to a computer or iPad is totally cool and still so fun..I’m just adding my experience into the chat. I love this damn bike and app.

I did see a video where the guy said the padded resistance bikes need a bit more upkeep than the magnetic resistance bikes because obviously there is going to be some wear on the pad. You can use a type of oil on the flywheel that has the pad and it takes care of the sound. Maybe look it up and find out.

The $40 a month for peloton when owning the actual bike turned me off, so I ended up purchasing the schwinn ic4 which I love! I pay $13 a month with the peloton app, which is a much nicer price. And my bike includes cadence and resistance levels (although the resistance levels don’t match up, it’s easier for me to get to where they’re at knowing what number I’m on. I typically subtract 20 from what they call out and that works for me) it was $850 tax included when I used a 10% off coupon at dick’s sporting goods!

Most of the cheaper bikes are "friction resistance", it is very hard to find a magnetic resitance bike under $300. After I researched all top selling bikes on Amazon, my conclusion is under $500, Consider joroto x2. Under $700 consider Sunny 1805, under $1000, consider Schwinn IC4 or Echelon EX3. More than $2000, Peloton!

I did the peloton hack for about 6 months and then broke down and bought the real peloton. I can say I do really love the actual peloton better because I love knowing my exact cadence, resistance, and output- plus I realized I really wasn’t keeping up with the instructor like I thought I was. Plus I like “following” my friends who have a peloton as well and it helps keep me motivated knowing other people can see my progress. Also the peloton is literally silent- like it was so quiet it took me a while to get used to. For me the actual peloton was worth the investment- but I really enjoyed the hack version as well.

Aerial silks and lyra aren't so easy to do at home, but would love to see you try those when things are open and safe. You build so much strength as well as confidence. Pole can be dancey, flowy and artistic, exotic/sexy, or strength/fitness, trick focused, so much variety and fun to explore all aspects. Although the atmosphere of the studio I go to was also a huge factor, everyone is super supportive. I had a Amazon bike and I recently upgraded to an actual Pelaton bike. I wouldn’t say the seat is comfortable compared to other bike seats, but it does feel a lot more supportive than other bikes.

I did this hack and love it. Cadance pretty much depence on each individual person even with a peloton. A good point of reference for resistance is if the instructor says the cadence should be 60 and you are doing 85 that means you should add more resistance. Hope it helps.

A Stryde bike is cheaper than Peloton. Plus Stryde lets you download your own apps like the Peloton app, Netflix, Hulu, UA-cam, etc. The peloton app is 12.99/month so it's a much cheaper option. We are ordering ours next week :)

I just bought a knockoff pelaton bike bc of this video and so far am super happy I didn't splurge on a real one. The classes are so much cheaper on my iPad and I'm not really bothered by not knowing exact numbers. Definitely not worth the crazy price to me.

So I saw your last video and if you do happen to be diagnosed with PCOS in the future, you might want to look into slow weighted workouts instead of the cycling - getting your heart rate up so high with PCOS can almost defeat the purpose of the workout ur doing so I just thought I’d mention it! Of course any body movement is best so take my comment with a grain of salt - just providing the info in case you want to look into it! I follow PCOS.weightloss on Insta and they give such great insight into the diagnosis!

Hi Carrie!! I actually bought the same bike after seeing your first video. I agree with most of your pros/cons. I added the wahoo cadence sensor and swapped out the pedals since I have spd cleats. I didn’t like the original pedals. My favorite Pelaton teacher is Jess King. She’s amazing.

I’ve been doing the peloton hack since I watched the original video. I mainly wanted to find out if I liked it enough before shelling out all that cash. I may buy the real deal, but I agree with you and I’ll see where I’m at a little further into the future. I don’t care about the leaderboards or getting shouted out, but I do find myself wondering about my resistance and cadence. Makes me wonder how I’m actually doing in comparison to their recommendations. I’m just glad I found some form of activity that I don’t loathe 🙂

I don’t even have a bike but I use Peloton for the strength and stretching stuff and I absolutely love it! I get a hit of serotonin when my favorite instructor Adrian claps for me at the end of my workout lmao. When they say “What’s up Peloton!” you just feel like such a part of the community!

I am a member of the peloton cult haha but I have to say I think the app is SO worth the money, way more than the bike itself. They have yoga, strength training, barre, Pilates, hiit cardio, and stretching classes, it’s such a good home workout app in general and a lot cheaper than any gym around me ($40 a month).
The peloton bike is really quiet and I do love it. But the seat is rock hard and very narrow, my saddle soreness went away but it took a solid month haha

  • @Griff_Lo
    @Griff_Lo 3 роки тому +1

The Peloton is 100% worth it.A YMCA membership in my area would have been around $100 a month for my husband and myself combined which is what we pay for the bike and app monthly. (60 for bike and 40 for app) Being able to workout at home and whatever time (we both work nights) is a definite bonus for us as well. I dont even bother with the leaderboard I just work to beat my own personal records but knowing your cadence and resistance and pushing yourself is very rewarding. Your butt gets used to the seat after probably a week. I ordered padded bike shorts and honestly didnt need to because I'm so used to the seat now.

You said you were looking to maybe try free cycling UA-cam videos. I highly suggest Kaleigh Cohen. I've been doing just her videos exclusively four to five times a week for the last three months and it's my favorite thing! She has a lot of videos and puts out a new one or two every week, and also does a live ride every Saturday! I used the Peloton app before with my "knock-off" bike and I actually prefer her classes over Peloton. She has great energy and her classes are very motivating.

Hi Carrie! I have a Peloton bike and I actually got mine on Facebook marketplace 😝 I love mine! Leanne Hainsby, Hannah Corbin and Dennis are my favs 😍 also plus the guy who had it before me swapped out the seat for a more comfy one bc he said the peloton original one was tiny and uncomfortable haha

I have done something similar - only in combination with Amazon Firestick. Also a good thing that I was not tied into Peloton via the bike because I also tried out Les Mills spinning classes and liked them better, so cancelled the Peloton subscription and am using Les Mills . That would not have been possible with the Peloton bike. :)

I have had a peloton for almost a year now! It’s my favorite purchase ever and I really don’t have any regrets! The bike is now also cheaper (still about 1,645 or something like that) but definitely more affordable than the 2000+ price tag! The bike is very quiet to ride so that’s a plus and the seat is more firm than what yours looks like but I prefer this over squishy ones!

Peloton owner here! Have had the Bike+ since October. The bike is nearly silent. I’m 6” tall and plus size and the bike feels incredibly stable even out of the saddle- which was one of the main reasons I went with the Peloton vs a cheaper option (plus I am one of those people who thrives off seeing my metrics). I’m personally super happy with my investment- and I felt I could justify it even more so as we also have two riders in my household (my fiancé also rides). The seat was really rough to adjust to- not going to sugar coat it. I had a seat cover AND padded shorts and the first week was still pretty brutal- but over time I adjusted to it and don’t use the cover or shorts anymore. I have never been a regularly active person in my adult life- and I’ve consistently been riding 3-5 times a week since our bike was delivered. Love it!

I’ve owned my Peloton for almost four years, and I think for those who can afford it, it’s worth it if 1) A high quality bike is important to you. It is extremely solid and completely silent. 2) You care about improving your actual athletic performance. Carrie describes it as “being into the numbers” (which at least to me sounds like she’s being a bit negative), but if you actually want to improve, you need metrics. My favorite instructor is Matt Wilpers, whose mantra is to train smart. That’s really all “the numbers” are good for. 3) You really want to feel like part of the peloton community during rides. Taking live rides, giving and receiving high fives is actually quite motivating.

I'm going to shook all americans here.(sarcastic jokes ahead, don't take this too seriously) Us, Europeans , do this sport too. It's not called peloton, we do it in clubs (before the rona) or with videos *like peloton*. The bikes in the clubs don't have certain names, no soulcycle no peleton, just a plain simple one like carries. Some of us have bikes at home, they're mostly not from a certain brand. And guess what we still work out and the bike works *utter shock*. Alright now don't go hating on my tiny european ass ;)

Such a great video! I really want to download the app now that I cancelled my gym membership. I would love to offer for those living in a small space like me (1BR apt girl 🤚) I use the “exerpeutic” bike from Amazon’s it folds up and is super light and can be moved and put out of sight easily. It’s also super quiet!
