My enjoyment of your personalities and relationship, etc. grew some with this video. Kudos for tackling a delicate subject so charmingly and humorously! Love following you from time to time.
Honestly your sailing channel is the best I don’t care what anybody says you two are so honest and there’s no artifice you’re totally yourselves in everything you do and I absolutely love it. I like that you don’t try to push your beliefs down the throats of all of us as well.
I have never seen another couple react so well with each other as fantastic as you guys do. You were so made for one another. I wish you many more years of happiness.
You both have a delightful sense of humor when you allow it to shine thru …… the shower episode is one of your classics ……. A perfect change up from fighting constant problems …… good luck and stay clean .,,,,,
In addition to the small pump protection strainer you have, our Catana 471 has an additional 6 in diameter Volvo Penta water strainer with a mesh-like bag that catches all the hair and other goodies from both of our shower sumps. Something to consider, it you have the space midway along the shower drain line, if you have access. It is located below one of our floorboards, approximately midway along each hull. All of our bilge pumps are located in our aft engine rooms mounted together in line on a bulkhead in each hull.
Content is getting harder and harder to come up with. I give you credit for producing, writing, and acting in a weekly program under such tough conditions. The longevity of your channel is impressive.
Wynns, thanks for being so authentically venerable. As a personal growth coach I can vouch for how well this works. I really do feel like I know you guys better after this episode. And also glad you provided the modest version! :)
Gobsmacked!!! What is the most appropriate comment to make watching Nikki "the body" taking a shower. Well done guys so well presented and a lot of fun!!
If is funny how camping in an RV is so like a boat. I use the same solar flex panels on my camper. Also, I have the Coleman solar shower in my camping gear. I believe the showers are included in the slip fees at the USA Marinas at least the Charleston City Marina included the shower. That is where I attend sailing school. Currently outfitting a Catalina 25 foot lake boat for sailing until I relocate to the intercoastal. Will use the same flex solar panels and some solar shower bags on board. I was wondering if you can use a camper type hot water heater. My 5-gallon hot water heater can heat the water in about 5 mins when I turn on propane and electric.
It's SOO great to hear that you two are REAL people!! You've got REAL-LIFE issues and not just some rich UA-cam channel, "Hey, look at us!" type of mentality. A LOOOONG time ago, (like a thousand years ago) we were camping and they had showers. We had to buy tokens to feed the machine that turned on the water. It was "supposed" to be 5 minutes. I found that in the men's room, the timer musta been broken because it didn't turn off until WE turned it off. My wife joined me and we were BOTH clean with as much time as we wanted!
Sounds like a bit of "power sniveling" about the shower situation. : ) My wife and I sailed the coast of Alaska for 15+ years in a 29 foot Columbia I rebuilt and used a solar shower on trips that lasted 2+ months. My wife's one demand for these trips was she wanted to be able to take a shower at least every other day. We used a solar shower and on days when the sun didn't shine I would fill the 5 gallon solar shower with about 4 gallons of cold water and then boil up 2-4 quarts of water in the tea kettle and add that until it was about the right temp. I had a huge canvas tarp we would use to cover the cockpit and doger, hung the solar shower from the boom and showered in the cockpit. It worked for us and we would sail 100's of miles along the Alaska coast. Thanks for the video! Good luck with your repairs! Hope they don't get too expensive..
I loved this episode! You show the reality and thats what I love about you both. Wether it's good or bad you show it and that's important. Take care and stay safe! See you next week!
Thanks for the laugh this morning, the shower incident brought back some memories when the same thing happened to us one time in a campground. We still laugh about it .
Yea, we were once forced to double up in a women’s public onsen/bath in Japan because the mens area was under renovation. Chose the latest hour possible the whole time on pins and needles waiting to get busted. Not exactly a relaxing natural thermal hot spring experience. We then were told the next morning that when we chose the time it was reserved to COUPLES ONLY, for TWO HOURS until it closed for the day. Had a good laugh over that one. Haha.
Okay, we love Nikki's scene about the shower....exactly how we feel when we used the marina shower. Our sump pump stopped working, so we were forced to - though our marina has very nice showers/facilities ....you still have to wear flip flops....but we did have endless water. But at state run marinas, you barely get 3 min!! Thanks for sharing!
Hang in there guys. The warm weather is coming and you’ve got a fabulous cruising ground to explore when your re-fit is done. In settled weather, The Poor Knight’s are a MUST. Great Barrier island, likewise. Enjoy 😉
@@petersmith8134 The Marlborough sounds are, indeed, amazing but watch out for williwaws. Actually, you need to be careful around Whangarei heads in Easterlies, too. Closest I ever came to flipping my Wharram Pahi was just inside Whangarei heads when we got hit out of nowhere by a williwaw.
All this shower talk reminded me of taking an outdoor shower( soap included) when I was maybe 7yrs in the front lawn in San Antonio in the rain. I remember it being the most fun shower in my youth. Thanks for sparking that memory 😀
TEASE! Great video! - ya could have let a couple frames slip through :) Hope you get used to the temp up there, its colder down here in Christchurch - but its keeps the bugs away :) Wish I was closer to lend a hand
I always used a pressurized bug sprayer. They are $25 and last forever, very efficient, it’s solar, and they water pressure is as high as you like it. Fits on a small boat and great for cockpit showers.
I'm Ex Royal Australian Navy and I can attest to the 5-minute showers, they are very much a learning experience. I made mine longer by getting wet then turn the water off, lather up then water on again and wash off which meant a longer time for washing off(enjoying the warmth) and shaving etc. It's good to see you both laughing and having some fun while making these videos. It's also great to hear how Mark is doing and fantastic that he sold the boat. You're probably not the first and definitely won't be the last to do the two-person shower in a shower block thing haha... How much is a new braided hose for the other shower to be fixed? but it only looks like the sink mixer, not the shower rose.. hmmm....
I love watching you two whether you are in an RV or on a Boat you just make us laugh and you can tell how happy you two are together it's so cool to watch thank you for sharing your stories with us
That was so funny. thank you guys :) It was a very interesting episode as I had no clue about the water waste. The nakedness, well all in a days work. and I say well done. I don't think it was offensive at all. Love you guys and enjoying your videos. thanks
Awesome!! Thanks for the entertainment.. He he! Whenever I see the video nearing the end, it soo bums me out. But loves you guys. Looking forward to the next.
Very good episode. Make me smile a lot. I and my other half have been in same situation on campingsites coming to the shower situation. Greetings from Sweden.
Your adventures are continuous! Thanks for sharing and having us along! I am sure when everything is sea ready again, you will be super happy to be out to sea versus docked in a marina!
Totally reminds me of cruising in my 40s and 50s. We also had a solar bag shower and they work perfectly. Thanks for the fun, the laughs, and the memories. ✨⛵⚓🌊🌴👙🌞✨
Jason’s acrobatic skills while explaining shower mechanics were quite impressive! So much laughter in this episode! So good! Glad y’all are safe and in good spirits.
A big thing keeping clean; wow, the savings to DIY at HOME! Eye-opening, to learn about that pricey, expensive five minute military Shower, no bargain! I lived in an Avion Travel Trailer, for six years, roaming all over the West from Texas to Idaho. Your shower environment is a whole different kettle of Fish, not fun. Glad you got the showers fixed, fascinated by the Solar Bag, who knew; backpacking in the Rockies that would have been ideal! You guys are so undaunted by anything! I Love It!
What a great Sunday morning start! My cup of coffee and watching Nikki take a shower! The issue of cold water first has occurred at a place you guys may have stayed at in your motorhome days and that is Lassen National Park. You put your money in & for 20 seconds cold water before it gets warm. The timer is running too! Nice video guys. Stay safe.
We live in a caravan and a lot of what you said regarding showers rung true with us 😃❤️ thanks for your wonderful videos. We enjoy watching them every Monday. We have found ourselves in Northland for lockdown too. We hope you are both safe and doing well 👍🤗
I'm glad, that not every marina shower is time limited. Just returned from a mediterranean sail and we saw 6 Marina's and non of them had a time limited shower. Thank you for your tips!

Yeah, had no idea about the shower situation. Things I never even think about with water lines bursting. That’s crazy! Jason has gotten much better at fixing stuff! Tenacity!
Though I'm not anywhere near the need to find shower situations, but because I've following you for quite some time, this video is a must watch. And I'm glad it so fun to watch how every styles of shower from different peoples actually worked. 🥰
I laughed out loud at the thought of hitting the freezing temps running out of the shower wet.. You are a trouper! So happy Jason knows plumping... Loving you both so much.. My Sunday Mornings would not be the same without you two! Thanks for the smiles..
Gotta love marina life. WOW I was surprised on how much you can save by showering aboard Curiosity vs the marina showers, and you can shower together in private for extra savings. Great episode guys. Fair Wynns and Following Seas Curiosity.
My boat doesn't have a shower, so I am cockpit only with my solar shower and garden pump spray. My previous boat had a wet heat with a shower drain, but the water went straight into the main bilge, so I never used the shower because the bilge was right below the main salon and galley. I keep a supply of quarters, loonies and toonies for marina showers where I am too shy for cockpit showers and it's not always warm out anyways. Some marina showers have a heat lamp on a timer to take the edge off the chill.
How ironic for my wife and I to see your shower video today. We’ve been so frugal with water as we lost our well on our ranch a few days ago. Fortunately it just got fixed this morning and that shower felt so good. 👍
I love your Sunday stories! I hate waiting all week for Sunday morning to come tho😓 I wish you guys could do 2 videos a week! I just love watching you both so much! It’s the highlight of my week! You always make me smile & laugh! Keep up the amazing work & journey! Best wishes Nikki & Jason!❤️
Hi guys, we just went back and binge watched the Sailing playlist of 284 videos!! What a blast! Just a note to say thanks for the entertainment, just one small note: Their are a bunch of duplicate videos in that big playlist. 228 through to 231 are duplicates of 227. and 225 is a duplicate of 224. Cheers from Australia and hope your NZ refit goes well. Cameron and Marion.
Well guys it's good you got your shower fixed. I have a funny story about showering at the DuQuoin Illinois State Fair. I'm on a racing team and I would typically stay in my van overnight the day before the race. They have showers under the grandstand and at 5:00 a.m . they're not too crowded. That's a good thing because one year I wasn't quite awake yet and I mistakenly went into the women's shower. I noticed it was quite a bit cleaner that year but I guess I just chalked that up to it having been cleaned overnight. To make a long story short I never realized what I had done until I was walking out of the shower room and saw a guy walking out of the other shower. I guess I was just ahead of my time. Anyway guys keep the good stuff coming.
This shower experience with Nikki and Jason was not exactly what I expected; but the important thing is we all opened ourselves up to something new.🤣 Nice breakdown of the cost. Though I am now curious what the power cost for running a water maker long enough to generate shower water would tack onto that total. 🙄
I liked the "Awkard" ending. That just shows life and that you two make a great pair! 5 minutes with 45 seconds to warm up sounds like they should increase shower time in the winter.
Very funny episode! Well done! I love those solar showers. We use them backpacking in the Sierras all the time. Fun to see how you cleverly slip the hose into the overhead hatch in your main shower on sunny days. Of course, there's also the ol' washcloth shower or the so-called "bed bath" of hospital fame--another good way to stay clean with minimal water. Thanks!
In Australia (and probably parts of the States), it is common to install solar water heaters on your home roof, that work similar to your solar shower bags. I wonder if you have considered a more permanent set up on your boat? Either a specifically designed piece of kit, or running a black water pipe topsides before it feeds into your electric water heater so that the water is warmed by solar and the electric just brings it up to temp.
So fresh an so clean, clean!! Glad you fixed your boat shower.. my Grandma had a plaque in guest bathroom that read: Save water 💦 Shower 🚿 with a friend....🛁 Glad your getting stuff done an that's a good thing.. Thanks for sharing your lives with us ✌🏻💗😊❣️
👍😀 We definitely do the sailors shower while at anchor. But we're only allowed one fresh water rinse off after the final dip of the day. We don't have a watermaker and we haven't had any rain in the last 7 months. Good episode.

I would like to say I clicked on this video for the repair content........but then.....
she has aged 20 years in the 10 years they have traveled , look at old vids in the RV, sea life ain't easy.
@@loganrunnz7761 she is the same age as my 2 youngest daughters. She looks about the same age as my two youngest daughters.
Beautiful couple inside and out.
So fresh an so clean, clean!! Glad you fixed your boat shower.. my Grandma had a plaque in guest bathroom that read:
Save water 💦
Shower 🚿 with
a friend....🛁
Glad your getting stuff done an that's a good thing.. Thanks for sharing your lives with us ✌🏻💗😊❣️
Ah yes, WynnioKart...
not gonna lie, when I heard the MarioKart sound effect, I was expecting either Rainbow Road or Coconut Mall to start playing 😂
😆😆
It was fun as always guys. Take care
What a way to start the day…showering with Nikki! Love you guys! Stay warm.
Eeeew
👍😀 We definitely do the sailors shower while at anchor. But we're only allowed one fresh water rinse off after the final dip of the day. We don't have a watermaker and we haven't had any rain in the last 7 months. Good episode.
Thanks for the laugh🤣
Glad your boat shower is fixed! Seems much more pleasant to show on your own boat!! Thanks for sharing!!
You two have so much fun with the littlest things. Here’s to the shower Queen 👸
Thanks for another great video!! Best wishes to you both!
