Its to controll and micro manage the majority of the western world, destroying our economys and sending our children into a future of orwelian 1984 hell. After 21 months with science from isreal,singapor and the india and mexico city studys anyone who still thinks this is about health and safety is truely brainwashed.wake up,we only have months to fight back, we got to unite against tyrany . From any country. Australia leading the way .usa not far behind
      If we the peoole let the overloards take our civil libertys today.. Tomorrow will be a world that countrys no longer allow cruisers from foreign lands to sail the 7 seas. Its over. End of cruising.

      @@sailingsolo5290 Not so Mr./Ms. Short Sighted; believe in not panicking myself, world governments didn’t exactly handle dealing properly with the emergence of this newest pathogen; got to reacting to things, out of order and mislead by the folks full of fear/negativity, acting like a pack of paranoid bewildered elementary school bullies towards each other. People with faith in the ability of humans to use science with good reason and methodically can achieve what they intend to. It takes patience and study of data as it unfolds. Hotheads don’t hang around to learn what they are wrong about; folks with faith in humankind just pick a deep seat and hold on when things get rough. Just saying, humans do tend to take too much for granted and trash their own world as they stupidly try to gain power over their world rather than choose the path of least resistance. Hang in there. Protect your heart and lungs from unknown threats- however you choose to do that is best. Shut downs were overkill, but staying out and away from others except the ones whom you know have limited their exposure is the smart way to look forward to a future of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

    • @RTew021
      @RTew021 2 роки тому

      @Sailing Solo: Well you're right about all those lockdowns, masks, distancing rules, even vaccines. Seems pretty clear that not more than 5% of the those who would have become infected would have died. And at the end of it, most everyone (who survived, of course) would be immune though for how long is not so clear (it will be probably a couple more years before that becomes clear).
      So in the US, it's now thought about 45 million have been infected (and less than 3/4 million have died). It we had had no restrictions, probably a lot more people, and kids too, would have been infected with the virus which means several million deaths in the US if we'd not bothered with social rules or vaccines. And perhaps a few 100,000 more deaths as well since an uncontrolled epidemic would have swamped the US healthcare system for months and treatments for other health conditions probably would have become unavailable.
      It's pretty easy to imagine what that would have been like, if in every community four or five additional people had died along with every person we now know about who did die of covid in the last 18 months. That would have been our situation in the United States without all those pesky restrictions and other interventions.
      Worldwide, the effect of no rules would have been less dramatic perhaps than in the US but certainly there would have been more cases than what have been recorded so far: 200+ million cases and ~5 million deaths.
      Hard to know what five times as many people dying in the US would have done to the economy. Seems unlikely it would be better than it is now.
      So this "guestimates" what we got for all our trouble with those masks and rules and vaccines.
      And of course it still isn't over although it certainly seems fairly well controlled now in many places (some in those low vaccinated areas might argue with that). Finally we have yet to see what another year of living with this virus is going to bring. Hopefully nothing worse than we've already experienced.

    Jason's comment of "if I get around to it" made me smile because many years ago I also tended to say "when I get around to it".
    One birthday my late lamented brother gave me a card with a circle in it and the words "here is a 'roundtoit' so you will never need to 'get' one again".
    He also gave a small brass coin about the size of the Australian dollar coin with the image of a bushman holding his pockets turned inside out and the words 'A Brass Razoo' printed on it so I would never be without one of those either.

    I've never even been to New Zealand so obviously don't take this as fact but it's my guess that shortbread and pies are a thing because of the large population with Scottish ancestors

    • @edbenson98
      @edbenson98 2 роки тому +2

      Shortbread or shortie is a traditional Scottish biscuit usually made from one part white sugar, two parts butter, and three to four parts plain wheat flour. Unlike many other biscuits and baked goods, shortbread does not contain any leavening, such as baking powder or baking soda.

      Its an easy meal and an easy biscuit to make. Both taste good and can be made cheaply. Thats why.

      Ys easy to make but someone had to bring the recipes and traditions to new Zealand kinda how the French brought begets to Vietnam

      @@edbenson98 yes I've made it many times. To much sugar for me to eat now. No matter what people say it's not the same if you cut back on the sugar. Although I haven't tried munk fruit sugar yet

    Thanks for another great video showing the many sides of boat life! And thanks this week for the drone footage you used in your segue, as it gives a broader view of the harbour entrance and nearby Marsden Point shipping terminal. My father, who passed in June, worked earlier in his engineering career on design and project management of some of the development for the shipping berths there. Over the years he traveled several times to NZ from here in Vancouver BC to oversee the work. He made many great and lasting friendships in NZ, and in particular enjoyed some side trips up to the Poor Knights Islands, fishing and diving there. You had to scoot right past them on your way to Marsden Cove Marina, but perhaps you'll get there at some point, too! Anyway, thanks for the glimpse that brought a smile... :)

    We LOVED New Zealand (I MAY have written that before ;) )...... if you had to be in lockdown someplace... and 'home' wasn't an option.... NZ would be my 2nd choice! The people... the hospitality... the food.. the landscape.... just fantastic. Stay safe... and continued good days!

    I love your videos. I’ve been watching from land to sea and I’m always so impressed how you guys just keep working together to fix the endless list of things that go south. And you’re always laughing about it. I know we don’t see everything but i can imagine you are both pretty positive most of the time. You each have found just the right partner and it shows. Hope you have safe travels soon! 💕

    The glass work could have been explained a little bit more, because from what I see they did an excellent job at delivering the strongest solution at very low weight by optimizing fiber direction and distribution. Was that their idea or did Leopard suggest that design? That's like performance boats are built.

      That's why NZ has the Americas cup and Australian boats need rescuing by NZ boats when they start to sink.

    I have to say, I’ve been watching a lot of sailing channels over the past four years (our planning and saving time for our own sailing trip) and you guys have definitely become by favourite channel because you’ve stayed true to your style (personally I’m not a big fan of some of the big style changes on other channels), you’ve got a phenomenal mix of entertainment (you guys are hilarious) and education, and you both seem to deal with adversity with the most grace, yet realism I have seen. Maybe we’ll see you out there one day as we’re buying a boat on the east coast of Australia early next year to eventually cross to NZ and then do the western South Pacific loop for a few years.

    I got tired just watching this video. Congrats on finding all the right people and parts to make it happen. The key is all the good cheer you bring to every task. Last year we did the same window project on our cat. This year we replaced an old, disfunctional stove. Soon our fun begins. It's all about the journey. Can't wait to see you "back out there."
