My next Souls character is now going to be Sexy Party Solaire. Thanks, Lemon! On Elden Ring: Elden Ring's open world is very beautiful, but all the side content feels not very meaningful. Every side dungeon ends in a boss, and there are about 50-ish side dungeons. This means you'll be fighting the same boss multiple times, which gets very repetitive. By the late game I stopped exploring the side areas because the reward for it wasn't worth the boss fight. Someone mentioned it, but the bosses feel like they're balanced around players using Spirit Summons. GamersWeekend took 283 attempts to beat a certain boss, I beat the boss in a dozen attempts with a Spirit Summon. I am grossly inferior in ability compared with GamersWeekend. The late game areas have a massive spike in difficulty, to the point where Vigor is basically Adaptability where you need a certain amount if you want to have a good time. In general, I've found I mostly stick to the legacy dungeons, ruins and other above ground dungeons (especially the castles), hero's graves (most of them), tunnels, and churches for my following playthroughs. You may find focusing just those big areas may help you complete the game. I did enjoy the posture and jump mechanics, and the fact that poise makes a comeback.

Every Souls game got a massive boost from its DLC. Dark Souls got good late game areas and bosses, Dark Souls 2 got its best content by far, and Dark Souls 3 got a ton of added build diversity and a challenging area that could be taken on from near the start of the game. Bloodborne arguably got the least out of the DLC, already having plenty of build diversity and no major low point, and even it got a major boost with awesome bosses and new weapons.
@@KaibaSeto. How so? Whips are designed to “convince” animals (and later people) to work for you. They make a lot of make noise, and induce a lot of pain, but unless you hit a thin vital area such as the throat (which requires incredible aim), you cannot kill or incapacitate a target beyond pain compliance.
True! Also apparently most any sufficient length of rope/chain/cord can be cracked like a whip. Seeing a man break a sound barrier with a chain is terrifying.
@@aetherspiralknight Usually for whips, the body grows thinner along its length and it is the tiny tassel on the end that breaks the sound barrier, but I suppose a sonic chain is possible, if one can overcome the awkward weight, and each link is smaller than the last.
On the ER comments. I do think it got overly praised early on, perhaps because reviewers didn’t see the whole game, or because there’s an expectation that it’s “supposed” to be challenging, then you’re not allowed to criticize the challenge. For me, it’s not “overwhelming”, I like all the options and mechanics. Jump attacks, guard counters, and poise break are all great. I like the huge variety of spells, and weapon arts. I can think of dozens of ways to play that’d be fun for me. I also like exploration, and the disgusting beauty of the map. The problems for me, are; 1. Open world means repetition. It’s not a tightly designed experience, it’s full of copy/paste dungeons and repeat mini bosses, all for “filler”. 2. The devs no longer feel like they’re trying to craft “challenging but fair” encounters and bosses. Rather, they’re upping the ante for their very best players, and everyone else can rely on their “easy mode” Spirit Ashes. Older games, it felt like you could recover from mistakes. ER has health and damage set so high, that a mistake means you might as well die and start over. It cares more about constant, perfect reaction to endless combos, rather than the older games’ careful timing. It denies punish windows based on RNG, and it disrupts timing with delayed attacks. The “fair” part of the equation is slipping away. But, as long as it’s “technically possible” by at least a tiny percentage of elite players, then I guess nobody is allowed to complain. 3. The size makes it harder to just replay on a whim. I can run DS1 and 3 in a couple nights. DS2 in 4-6 days. It would take me weeks to replay ER. I give it an 8/10, and will definitely play it multiple times. But it’s definitely got problems that were ignored for hype. Also, I still love Bioshock 3.
The main problem with the "wait for the boss to combo, then punish" is that there doesn't seem to be a window where the boss is forced into recovery after an attack string. They're just allowed to go right into another one if they want to. Beyond that, it's pretty much the same as DS3 in difficulty, and that is to say, not overly difficult at all. The only hard stuff is when you have to fight 2 or 3 bosses at once and they recently nerfed those fights by making the enemies use a "priority attacker" system. I find it strange that his big reason to come back to Dark Souls is "build variety" considering there isn't really that much variety, and certainly not that much *viable* variety, but Elden Ring has so many viable build paths and personal tweaks with the Ash system and all the different seals for scaling spells on different stats... sounds like a missed opportunity to me. To hear him talk about it, though, he really needs a more straightforward progression path to enjoy a game the way he wants to.
@@ForeverLaxx Yeah, to each their own, but DS1 has the worst variety in the series. Also, while I do think Elden Ring is “bloated”, the fact that it’s so open does allow you to build a character pretty easily, if you’ve played through once and know where everything is. The variety is huge, and there’s some really off the wall options that aren’t op. I just watched someone beat the game with shouting Ashes of War.
While I loved Elden Ring, it is massive, overcomplicated (jesus the amount of items) and suffers from hit box issues, too much cut&paste duplication and spotty rules on when you can summon/summon your horse. And yes, with 3 types of throwables (Cracked pot, ritual pot and Perfume) the run could be fun, but you have an upper limit of 40 thrown pot type items, but there are thrown stone types too, like I said, complictaed.
To be fair on the throwables, there are many different kind of throwing knifes and throwing stones you can use. This increases the limit of how much you can throw at each enemy so it won't be a run killer. But one person said about the duplicated bosses that I do agree with. He doesn't see them as the same boss they fought 3 times already, more like he sees the item they drop and wither or not it'll be useful for his build. Elden Ring doesn't force you to battle every boss, the duplicated mini bosses are just there if you are aiming for a certain build or trying to kill all bosses (like, why?). Like the catacombs, they are not required to beat the game. It is just extra content that they tried to match with Bloodborne. I think they did it this way for Elden Ring to prevent a custom catacomb being created for easy farming. *shrugs* just my guess.
I know I'm awfully late with my comments but I totally understand why you don't like Elden Ring, it doesn't feel right, but I would suggest a katana/bleed build with a bit of magic here and there, it works fine... I think because I did the platinum for it before the first patch so I don't know what has been changed, could be that bleed or some magic spells are totally worthless nowadays... don't have the courage to instal it again and test it... 🙂 nice run, as always Lemon, these 3 hours + were very entertaining
does he have a mod making his character that buff or was I just unaware thats standard because I was fine playing it hollow with the 75% health ring on?
I got to dark souls after playing remnant of the ashes, it made want ds3 10 times more, after beating it 7 times i got bloodborne and tried nioh(was way too hard didnt beat lv1) and got to ds2 and it is my favourite since, tried no hits from bosses got about half way, but at first it felt soooo clunky, if ds1 is even more clunky i am scared to try it
Whips not bouncing in DS2 is actually something against the whip, 'cause in DS2 the very fragile weapon takes durability damage for every frame it's in a wall, so even worse with high pc framerates. Basically all souls went to repair powder in my old whip run.
@@marctaco2624 They tell me it was a reasonable amount in console, but I'm not so sure. Small fast weapons have less durability and take more hits to kill things, so you might need to take a spare thrusting sword for longer areas between bonfires. But whips are even lower durability and can easily spend the whole swing in contact with some wall or lamppost or something, so despite all their buffs, it's still one of the poorest choices to limit yourself to. You can break the old whip in as little as 4 swings if not in a wide open place.
Probably won't see this and not sure how difficult/entertaining it would be but what about beating dark souls with the symbol of avarice as a constant armour piece
Please do a straight sword hilt only run! Please do a straight sword hilt only run! Please do a straight sword hilt only run! I know it's been done, but i need to see it. Pleeeeeeeaaaase...
What's the wiki for Sacrifice you editing? Fextra? Or something else? I didn't notice Hallowed Hill spells Lemon! That's cool. Also carrots are the best ranged weapon for strength build.
Just like Salt1, I'm making my own wiki. That way I dont have to deal with red tape and dont have to subject players to ads or unwanted twitch streams.
So idk much about dark souls (but I’m trying to 100% all of them). Does every weapon do poise damage? And if not could you do a poise weapon only run? Where you gotta try to poise break every boss?
AFAIK every attack, melee, ranged weapons, or spells, deals poise damage. I could be wrong, but that's okay. As for 100% the series, i have a few thousand hours, but haven't 100% them. I do have platinum on ds3 though. Do you mean 100% like • all bosses • all npc questlines and dialogues • all trophies and achievements • something else
Elden Ring isn't a good game. It's rehashed material and assets used before. It has really cool world storytelling. That's it. The rest is general Fromsoft nonstory dribble. I could say you can beat all of Limgrave in Elden Ring and that's basically a full game. A fulfilling game? Nope. But a full game. I only really had fun exploring ER on the first playthrough because it's big enough me and friends in a call all went separate directions and found entirely different stuff. And now with item and enemy randomizers. Any other time, nope, and PvP is a disgusting mess.
I disagree that Elden Ring is a carbon copy of everything, lacking anything at all new. At least with me, can't say about anyone else, the controls were tight and the enemies are aggressive to keep the pressure on. The main reason why I played any of the Dark Souls wasn't for the story, material, or assets. It was to get over something hard. About climbing over something I keep getting my butt smacked for until I finally figure out the best way to dodge and when to hit. I'll say Elden Ring delivered that. Though, not every boss is perfect, but there are still some that I was totally amazed about during the fight.
@@TheBacklogs nuts, I was really into the adventures of Sexy Party Solaire. ;) Great stream anyway, thanks for all the content while I'm lying here trying to ignore the Rona. ;)

Bloodborne arguably got the least out of the DLC, already having plenty of build diversity and no major low point, and even it got a major boost with awesome bosses and new weapons.
@@Skywardflare758 It added a co-op covenant and two transformation covenants that are actually useful.
At 53:43 , this whip ain't doing physical damage at this point, that's just emotional damage there.
Fun fact: The whip is the earliest man made instrument capable of breaking the sound barrier (acording to one of my teachers).
And just like in this game, it is not meant to be used as a lethal weapon.
@@marctaco2624 Now im curious
@@KaibaSeto. How so?
Whips are designed to “convince” animals (and later people) to work for you. They make a lot of make noise, and induce a lot of pain, but unless you hit a thin vital area such as the throat (which requires incredible aim), you cannot kill or incapacitate a target beyond pain compliance.
True!
Also apparently most any sufficient length of rope/chain/cord can be cracked like a whip.
Seeing a man break a sound barrier with a chain is terrifying.
@@aetherspiralknight Usually for whips, the body grows thinner along its length and it is the tiny tassel on the end that breaks the sound barrier, but I suppose a sonic chain is possible, if one can overcome the awkward weight, and each link is smaller than the last.
ocarina of time isnt the zelda game where you wait a lot Majoras Mask is the zelda game you wait a lot
The problems for me, are;
2. So you are telling me it's 3D Salt and Sacrifice?
Speaking other challenge runs, Borderlands 2: Crossbow only ?
im pretty sure a dude named metal commander has already done a throwables only elden ring run
I am very saddened to hear this news from you about Elden Ring ): no wonder no Elden Ring content, which I would love to see, I love the game
Pretty sure that Lemon is just playing as Party Solaire this whole time since… ya know… Solaire is ALWAYS sexy.
good stuff
does he have a mod making his character that buff or was I just unaware thats standard because I was fine playing it hollow with the 75% health ring on?
I'm pretty sure he picked large upper body option
Also I made a similar invasion build in Ds2 with a sexy desert sorceress and whips lol
a bare handed punches as warrior in Ds2 does weirdly 43 damage
If you’re doing Bioshock challenge runs, would you consider doing a Bioshock 2 challenge run. It is my favorite of the series.
The first imposible challenge run
Could you use the poison whip then the bleed whip to kill bosses quicker if they aren't immune
I was in the stream but fell asleep
Keep up great work by the way
have you ever tried a tail weapons only run?
I got to dark souls after playing remnant of the ashes, it made want ds3 10 times more, after beating it 7 times i got bloodborne and tried nioh(was way too hard didnt beat lv1) and got to ds2 and it is my favourite since, tried no hits from bosses got about half way, but at first it felt soooo clunky, if ds1 is even more clunky i am scared to try it
Ds2 is the most clunky
Whips not bouncing in DS2 is actually something against the whip, 'cause in DS2 the very fragile weapon takes durability damage for every frame it's in a wall, so even worse with high pc framerates. Basically all souls went to repair powder in my old whip run.
Wow, they remedied that infuriating mechanic by making one just as bad?
@@marctaco2624 They tell me it was a reasonable amount in console, but I'm not so sure. Small fast weapons have less durability and take more hits to kill things, so you might need to take a spare thrusting sword for longer areas between bonfires. But whips are even lower durability and can easily spend the whole swing in contact with some wall or lamppost or something, so despite all their buffs, it's still one of the poorest choices to limit yourself to. You can break the old whip in as little as 4 swings if not in a wide open place.
@@TimeKitt Another reason to be a spellblade I suppose.
DS2's my fave, though that's cursed
Sexy Party Solaire! Hell yeah, another Bonfireside Chat fan!
I'm would like the short version so I can watch in loop pls hahahaha🥰
Oh my God, my man eats scrambled eggs the same way I do wtf.
Lemon: so and so kicked a puppy.
Me: why are they a JoJo villain?
What song is playing at the beginning???? It’s amazing
i only used the whip onlyl once to kill a knight in ds3 the firs tone that appears that gves u a ice sword i believe forgot its name
The outrider Knights under the giant's tower in Undead settlement
Is the moonlight greatsword a whip ?
If you haven't finished this run already you could sell the Dragon GA to Frampt for an okay amount of souls
Probably won't see this and not sure how difficult/entertaining it would be but what about beating dark souls with the symbol of avarice as a constant armour piece
Oof. Thatd be rough. Good for a stream though!
Hey Lemon, how about a Shoryuken only run?
(The r2 attack from the dragon bone fist does a Shoryuken like attack,it's really cool... And slow)
Please do a straight sword hilt only run! Please do a straight sword hilt only run! Please do a straight sword hilt only run! I know it's been done, but i need to see it. Pleeeeeeeaaaase...
Spear / polearm only run when? :D
How the fuck does he get an Airplane reference but doesn't get Devo's Whip it good reference?
Have you ever done a dark Souls 1 2 or 3 throwing knives only?
So idk much about dark souls (but I’m trying to 100% all of them). Does every weapon do poise damage? And if not could you do a poise weapon only run? Where you gotta try to poise break every boss?
AFAIK every attack, melee, ranged weapons, or spells, deals poise damage. I could be wrong, but that's okay.
As for 100% the series, i have a few thousand hours, but haven't 100% them. I do have platinum on ds3 though.
Do you mean 100% like
• all bosses
• all npc questlines and dialogues
• all trophies and achievements
• something else
Like Aether said, nearly every weapon does pose damage. Zullie the Witch made a video talking about pose if you want to look her up.
Agreed and honestly I’d say that the main storyline of Elden ring is just dark souls but replace keywords
Though, not every boss is perfect, but there are still some that I was totally amazed about during the fight.
what do you use to get the weapon at the beginning?
Masochist or mASOCHIST?
😃
Whats the first song, in the stream srating soon screen?
42:11 entirely deserved
Is there a second part to this stream?
Just the edited video.
I usually start a run on a stream and finish the runs on my own time, editing them into full videos later.
@@TheBacklogs nuts, I was really into the adventures of Sexy Party Solaire. ;)
Great stream anyway, thanks for all the content while I'm lying here trying to ignore the Rona. ;)
What about a tail weapon only run. Must use the current tail weapon until you get another ! That could be fun…ish!
I feel like that stagnates after seath
