The whole hallucination thing is rather funny to me, if you go back to the party you see the gang drinking absinthe from those big beer mugs. If you drank that much absinthe you wouldn't just hallucinate, you would see backwards in time and experience the void century for a short while and then die of alcohol poisoning shortly after.

The big question mark for me was the mention that the giants already have a sun god to go talk too. Makes me wonder if a certain trickster could be impersonating a certain deity... the same way loki impersonated odin in the marvel movies!

I love that in the midst of everyone freaking out that Yggdrasil is going to burn, someone mentions how good it smells. Sanji woke up without even his own clothes, went off hungover into the woods and cooked up top level BBQ rabbit god.
As soon as I finished the chapter I started spinning a tale of the Straw Hats out partying the giants and deciding not to wait to get to the island. Luffy wants more food, Zoro wants more booze, Sanji wants to see giant ladies, Usopp wants everything Elbaff. Nami argues, Robin points out they could have giant treasure, she immediately gets onboard. They're all trashed so things go south, they land totally passed out. They're found, given dry clothes, left to sleep it off. The trio wake up bright and early, discover they're in a fun new land, set off for breakfast, return in time to save Nami and Usopp.
I think the whole Hallucination thing with the Green Fairy is actually Oda telling us that Lies are going to be a major theme this arc

Making a prediction that, at some point, there's going to a parallel between the Strawhats (maybe the monster trio, maybe not) and the Utgard-Loki story, where Utgard-Loki (not the same guy as normal Loki) used illusions to trick Thor, Loki, and Pjalfi into impossible contests... that they *nearly* win, with Loki nearly out-eating fire (give Luffy an eating contest!), Pjafli almost outrunning the win, and Thor nearly lifting Jormungander

this chapter was so refreshing, it really REALLY felt like i was reading a skypiea or thriller bark chapter and i missed that
The funniest thing about all this shenaniganry is that Luffy doesn't drink, but sober Luffy is about as useful as everyone else is drunk on absinthe... that said, I'm sure Luffy knows how things got this way but he was likely more focused on eating meat at the time.
i also saw people complaining that the chapter was mid. We just got through with one of the craziest arcs in the entire series, and this is just the start of the new arc. Its not gonna be full send every moment.
Getting action in a completely new place in One Piece is peak.

Perfect timing, I wanted to watch a man on the internet talk about the new one piece chapter and then BAM! I got a notification
So everyone who drank "The Green Fairy" drink in the last chapter got transported it looks like.
For some reason I'm really bothered that the bricks have studs on the top but no holes on the bottom for the studs to go into. When the castle is falling apart you can clearly see the bricks have solid bottoms.
This pirate crew is just pure chaos. They’ve been here for like an hour, and already ate the “God of Ears”
In Norse Myth, there is a story of Utgard-Loki (essentially giant loki but is separate from loki from asgard).
In one story, Utgard-Loki hosts Thor, Loki, and their entourage and challenge the asgardians/aesir to a series of contests that are ripe for Oda’s characters.
Loki partakes in an eating competition, Thor is given a drinking challenge, a wrestling challenge, and a lifting challenge. His companion is charged with a footrace.
What’s beautiful tho, is the giant Utgard-Loki used illusions and trickery to obscure what is truly happening, for example Loki’s eating contest was actually against a wild fire, Thor was actually drinking the ocean (and thus resulted in the tides) and other such interesting events.
My favorite is the lifting contest. In that contest Thor is tasked with lifting Utgard-Loki’s “cat.” However, the cat being a cat, was being too finicky to lift, so Thor only managed to lift one paw.
In (fictional/mythical) reality the “cat” was actually the World Serpent, and it shocked everyone there that Thor was capable of lifting any amount of the serpent, let alone the large amount he held into the sky.
I think Prince Loki in One Piece is going to have some really intense illusions or something that allows him to change the shape of things he touches.
This reminds me of Bowser in the OG mario bros game lol he turned the Mushroom Kingdom members into the bricks and various other aspects of their game world lol.

This chapter was really confusing to me. Really happy to be reading weekly for such a legendary arc we have been waiting on.
Elbaf is gonna be crazy
ALSO also, I think this is the most boisterous entrance we’ve had to a new island. Usually, *some* attempt is made to fit in, or at least not stir the pot too much too fast, but the monster trio are straight up causing disasters, leading the population into panic. This is finally true pirate emperor hours.
My speculation is that elbaf is going to be an arc for strengthening the weaker strawhats. Oda immediately shows that usopp and Nami both need to be stronger. Can't wait!

I feel like theres some FuCkEryy going on with Loki, In the start the giants said "we need to report to the sun god". He might be impersonating Luffy as the Sun God for the past 800 Years, the previous leader being JoyBoy himself. it would also make sense for Luffy's next title increase, as there really wasn't a title above Yonko, and pirate king is still a while away, so "sun god Luffy" might make a decent placeholder for the finale

I can actually sort of see the childlike logic to Elbaf (or at least the section we see) made entirely out of Legos: The Giants are rough and tough and probably break buildings and homes on the regular. Buildings made of lego-like bricks would make rebuilding from the daily scuffle a lot easier.
For some reason, this chapter also made me think of Chopper being in Monster Point on all fours, alongside a giant with an axe. Some kind of Paul Bunyan thing.
Liam aka internet guy ak GL. I had a thought. It seems that Shanks and Luffy both have embellished reputations. Luffy is blamed for many things he hasn't done and I think it's the same for Shanks.
Specifically, I think Shanks crew are the real pirates, and Shanks is softer. I almost believe Shanks crew is going to force Shanks to fight Luffy.
Bart and Kid both justly fell by the hands of someone on Shanks crew, and not Shanks. I think they do this to protect Shanks, and those who are protected under his flag.

What i find intriguing is that the giants say at the beginning they have to report the fire to the great sun god. Since they propably don't yet know about Luffy, that means there is another Sun God on Elbaf.
I genuinely think Loki might have the Fable Fable Fruit. It allows the user to (at least to some extent) pull people into a fairy tale-like world, which is why that Cheshire Cat-like monster was able to briefly turn into a lion. Would also tie into the naming of Elbaf and explain why Nika/Joyboy might have got along well with previous Fable fruit users as a fellow imagination-based power holder.
Maybe the Lego Village is like a "Guest Village" for visitors that are not Giant size.
7:25 I believe it looks so normal because it's not the whole tree, it's just the branch that this world rests on. This isn't my idea, I remember hearing the idea from someone else and I like their idea of each of the worlds of Ygdrasil is a sky island resting on one of the branches.

The proportions of the lego buildings appear to be a little too small for giants. My theory is that they are in a giant child's bedroom destroying his lego sets that he so diligently put together. KEEP IT UP BABY!!

The only ones to actually drink the Absinthe were Zoro, Sanji, Nami, and Usopp. They're the only ones with mugs in their hands after that giant warned them about it. Chopper and Luffy are also with them, but they're not the drinking type. I don't believe they had any at all.
I think either Chopper will have to develop an antidote to the effects of Absinthe or its actually a Devil Fruit ability, and Luffy will have to fight the user as the only one not susceptible to its effects that has any chance to win.
My guess is that cat is Loki doing shape shifting things, and hy would Ussop test to see if its a hallucination if the thing already had him in it jaws?
I love how Usopp is even more incapable than Nami. Oda said that he was always going to be the weakest strawhat and he wasn't lying lol

I loved Nami's reaction to Sonic the hedgehog and then Usopp getting chewed on by a huge Garfield lion hybrid being slapped to death almost lol 😅 Also I love everyone's attire except for Zoro's mask thing plus what a way to kick off Elbaf making all of the ecosystem of the island into a buffet 😂

Like I said before, this might be a different Loki. Prince Loki might be based off Utgard-Loki, the giant who had the mysterious castle and challenge Thor, Loki, Thjalfi and Roskv to some contests.
I think the “sun god” referred to is actually the lion they ended up defeating by the end of the chapter. When Franky wanted to make a ship that looked like a lion, what did everyone think it looked like? A sun. Also the “ears” god being a giant rabbit shows they name gods based off identifying features.
I feel like this is going to be a very crew focused arc. Maybe its me hoping, because i want to see the crew interact and fight together again
