I think the funniest thing about this chapter is right after the spoilers came out that saturn is dead, we got a news article in real life about Saturn's rings disappearing. Another excellent example of Oda foreshadowing.

Now they just got York, food shortage, Kuma escaping, Bonney and straw hats escaping, public learning the truth, Vivi and Wapol still not found, WEJ still not accepting bribes, failure ruining their repetition, Cross Guild successfully causing marine deaths, seven nation revolution, RA escaping and to top it all of, Revolutionary Army succeeded too before leaving. Unbeknownst to Imu, Sabo is also alive alongside most of the residents of Lulusia plus Dragon knows about what happened and Morgans knows too. At least Coby is no longer captured.
It’s surprising that Saturn was offed by Imu with no hesitation and simply replaced and the looks on the other elder’s faces tells more stories of how their power system works

This is a rare time where it isn't exactly a fake-out death. The satellites are literally just that, satellites. Satellites just amplify and transmit data and frequencies, but destroying one doesn't destroy the source code. This is like science 101
Plus Edison was never 'killed'. He was there when York tried to keep Punk Records from floating off. He rebuilt his body using parts from those that actually 'died'. I see the 'dead' satellites like programs in the 'cloud'. Honestly, I don't see a real reason why if they are artificial constructs with parts to make new bodies why Oda didn't have them 're-down loaded' into new bodies. That is the part that doesn't make sense to me... Honestly, the Satellites should be immortal as long as they have bodies to be put back into and Punk Records is never destroyed. Does Oda need a McGuffin from the lab that was left behind to do the transfer? I kind of hope he answers that...

My thoughts: the elders are all shocked and possibly scared of the change. Saturn at least looked like that 200 years ago, at least. Even if Imu replaced 1 elder ever century or so, the elders would have been like "again?" But they don't act like this is something they are familiar with. This is likely unprecedented.

Part of the Four Elders' reaction to Garling announcing his promotion was because they had not heard what had happened to Saturn. Garling coming in and saying Imu promoted him made it clear to the Elders that Saturn would pay dearly for his failure. Its also a reminder of what fate awaits them if they fail as well....
I love how the silhouette of Garling's hair, when viewed directly from the front, makes him look more like a star ✨ than a moon when he's introduced as the new Elder.

I knew that all the Vegapunks were alive. They've talked about doing backups and connecting to Punk Records. I always knew it was similar to Altered Carbon or Ghost in the Shell. Back up to a central system, so that even if their physical bodies are destroyed they can always come back in a new body.
Notice how Garling mentions how this era is going into chaos, just like shanks did back before clashing with whitebeard. Like father, like son (maybe?).
Vice admirals watched Saturn off a guy for asking if there was truth to Vegapunk's message then disintegrate in front of them. Surely some of them must be questioning things now, maybe there will be some rebellion within the Navy

I have no problem with the Vegapunks being not dead since it was set up ages ago and makes perfect sense after all the information we got about souls and the question what death even means for Vegapunk. This is no Pell situation at all.
Saturn's death was a brutal, but it didn't hit as hard as it should have...because it wasn't surrounded by his atrocities, if his death had happened right after it was revealed that he gave Ginny the sapphire scales or after he ordered Kuma to give up his personality, then that would have felt good, true the Kuma punch wouldn't have felt as good as it did, but his death would have felt so much more deserved, amazing how Oda can make you feel pity for even the second most evil person in the entire universe.
I will call this new form Franken-Punk, but as for Punk Records I totally called that the clouds would push it away from Egghead which now makes it similar to Laputa Castle in the Sky

The Five Elder Stars are named after the five planets that are visible from Earth without a telescope. I think historically in China and Japan these five planets were seen as stars (no telescopes back then so no one could tell the difference) and each was associated with a specific one of the five Wuxing elements.
I don't think there's a Devil Devil fruit. The whole devil fruit system logic is probably should be thrown away at this point, because devil fruits are probably artificial creations from 800 y. ago as a mechanism to carry will of their creators.

about the lucci situation, i'm not sure if it's a translation issue, but the way i read it felt more like he was saying "dead in action" as if she was killed in a fight against an enemy instead of revealing that she was a traitor, because in world, the marines have no idea that she is a traitor, otherwise they wouldn't have cared to ask, ultimately, what i'm trying to say is that i see it as more of lucci trying to say she died valiantly against a strong opponent rather than "i killed her". all that said, i do think that lucci might actually have killed her himself

trust me i hate fake death so much that my head cannon is that most people do end up dead but this one feels good to me they are robots they hinted at what makes them alive and even the sacrifice holds weight because the vagapunks in punk record now are basically outcast they lost everything and cant just rebuild or even leave the record station they are stranded
Won’t lie, read this and my jaw was either dropped or I was smiling the entire time. I do find it intriguing and somewhat scary how Garland strolled into the Gorosei’s room and be berated only to show up the other four and make each one of them afraid/creeped out. I’m happy Saturn’s dead but I do feel kind of bad for him if for no other reason than, it was brutal. Love that the Vegapunks had one last trick up their sleeve and a big F you to York. Also happy they’re alive in the capacity they are.
I guess this chapter confirmed one thing. The aspects of Stella are all essentially robots or androids. Even York, who was responsible for bodily necessities like eating and sleeping has "spare parts", whatever that means. But this raises a very significant question. Does this new Crash Dummy Vegapunk need to eat and sleep because York's not there?
HO-LY SHIT! This might be my new favorite chapter of this arc! Even though I was kind of hoping and expecting Saturn to die at some point, I wasn't expecting something like this to happen, even though it all makes sense as presented in this chapter. Of course Imu would blame Saturn for the disaster that was the Egghead Incident and remove him from power (by removing his life), and replacing him with Figarland Garling makes sense, because even if it's questionable that he's a scientist the way Saturn was, him being the head of the Holy Knights does mean he'd be good in terms of the World Government's defensive forces. This opens up a lot of questions, though; the other four elders seemed surprised that Garling was appointed the new Godhead of Science and Defense, did Imu summon Garling in private when he appointed him? Also, it seems clear that the Five Elders' immortality and demonic powers are tied to their connection to Imu, does this mean Garling is also immortal now? Will he inherit Saturn's powers too? Argh, there are just too many questions raised in this chapter, it's enticing stuff! Also, I had a feeling Edison was still alive, and I love that he managed to screw over York and the World Government one final time by escaping with Punk Records. Seeing that Shaka, Pythagoras and Atlas are still technically alive within him is also sweet to see, even if Edison's new body looks really wonky. I have a feeling they'll be an important player in the final saga, perhaps even moreso than Lilith! Lastly, maybe this is a minor point, but I can't help but worry about Doberman in this chapter. He's been nothing but loyal to the Marines and the World Government (maybe a bit too loyal in the case of the Paramount War, where he insisted on continuing to fight the pirates, even if it meant abandoning injured soldiers, and wanted to keep Ace and Whitebeards bodies so the Marines could present them to the world as a warning, but still), it'd suck if all this loyalty and dedication was "rewarded" with instant death just because he happened to ask the wrong question to Saturn... Then again, perhaps Saturn killing off Doberman was meant to be poetic on Oda's part? Like Saturn looks down on humans and see them as expendable and replaceable, only for him to be deemed expendable and replaced by Imu. A fitting end for such a villain, I'd say... Still sucks for Doberman, though.
I think everybody missing a very important thing this chapter confirms for us.. The five elders are public figures . That means that due to the fact they have been around for over 200 years , people in the one piece world knows that. I am starting to get the feeling that it’s only a secret to us the readers , but not to the in world characters. Same as to their transformations, which was not a shock to the Navy officers and completely expected by kizaru I am almost certain that the people of the world knows a lot of things about the ruling class that are not privy to us the readers. I know this is colliding with the fact everyone was shocked to hear “Imu Narona” you’re still alive(I’m talking about the reaction of the revolutionary army) But the elders are not secret characters , if they been there, they have been there for a long time. I think it’s either a plot hole , or there is something that is hidden from us only (the readers )

Saturn told the Vice Admirals to not go after the Straw Hats (Imu wants the death of all Nika users). [Disobey] 2. He failed at stopping the transmission reveling parts of the Void Century (Imu rules with an Iron Fist by keeping people ignorant). [Incompetence] 3. Emeth had Joy Boy's Haki stored in a knot, which helped Straw Hats escape, if only they scrapped the robot, it wouldn't have bit him in the rear (Imu wouldn't allow such research being made, especially since this Iron Giant was a dangerous enemy that attacked Marie Geoise 200 years ago). [Disobey, Hubris & Incompetence] 4. He experimented on Ginny, which accidentally ended up providing a second Nika user in the name of Boney (Nika users seem to be the hard counter to Imu's powers, which proves that Imu had a very hard time against Joy Boy without the help of the 19 other kings). [Hubris] I mean with all of those mistakes, we can't say he didn't disobey Imu, he did it at least twice. Saturn's hubris tested the very limits of Imu's patience at the cost of his life.
I don't get the issue with Vegapunk's alters not being truly dead. They were never truly alive to begin with- that's why the one whose task it was to tend to bodily needs betrayed them. Because she felt too "alive." Regardless, Vegapunk has definitely suffered a kind of death, though more like a strange reverse-coma. His true body is dead, and was killed by his best friend no less. That means the "real" Vegapunk is truly dead and he can never be the man he once was ever again. All that is left of him is a brain in a jar. Kinda like that one DLC quest from Fallout New Vegas. Is that really being alive? The other Vegapunks are essentially puppets weilded by Vegapunk's oversized brain. It's an interesting philosophical question.

I think the funniest thing about this chapter is right after the spoilers came out that saturn is dead, we got a news article in real life about Saturn's rings disappearing. Another excellent example of Oda foreshadowing.

My thoughts: the elders are all shocked and possibly scared of the change. Saturn at least looked like that 200 years ago, at least. Even if Imu replaced 1 elder ever century or so, the elders would have been like "again?" But they don't act like this is something they are familiar with. This is likely unprecedented.

Three Punks physically survived; Lilith, Edison, and York. This also explains last chapter where Lilith was having things explained to her, so she must have reconnected to Punk Records. It was mentioned that they can't really stop York from connecting to Punk Records either, so that is a thing. Now, it does come across like the 'dead' Punks are like programs in the 'cloud' (boy is that fitting) that is Punk Records. But what doesn't make sense is if they have the bodies and parts, why can they not be 'downloaded' into them and come back physically? The logic seems pretty fuzzy on Oda's part, so I wonder how he will explain it.

I knew that all the Vegapunks were alive. They've talked about doing backups and connecting to Punk Records. I always knew it was similar to Altered Carbon or Ghost in the Shell. Back up to a central system, so that even if their physical bodies are destroyed they can always come back in a new body.

Saturn's death was a brutal, but it didn't hit as hard as it should have...because it wasn't surrounded by his atrocities, if his death had happened right after it was revealed that he gave Ginny the sapphire scales or after he ordered Kuma to give up his personality, then that would have felt good, true the Kuma punch wouldn't have felt as good as it did, but his death would have felt so much more deserved, amazing how Oda can make you feel pity for even the second most evil person in the entire universe.

The Five Elder Stars are named after the five planets that are visible from Earth without a telescope.
I think historically in China and Japan these five planets were seen as stars (no telescopes back then so no one could tell the difference) and each was associated with a specific one of the five Wuxing elements.

Won’t lie, read this and my jaw was either dropped or I was smiling the entire time. I do find it intriguing and somewhat scary how Garland strolled into the Gorosei’s room and be berated only to show up the other four and make each one of them afraid/creeped out. I’m happy Saturn’s dead but I do feel kind of bad for him if for no other reason than, it was brutal.
Love that the Vegapunks had one last trick up their sleeve and a big F you to York. Also happy they’re alive in the capacity they are.
I guess this chapter confirmed one thing. The aspects of Stella are all essentially robots or androids. Even York, who was responsible for bodily necessities like eating and sleeping has "spare parts", whatever that means. But this raises a very significant question. Does this new Crash Dummy Vegapunk need to eat and sleep because York's not there?

HO-LY SHIT! This might be my new favorite chapter of this arc! Even though I was kind of hoping and expecting Saturn to die at some point, I wasn't expecting something like this to happen, even though it all makes sense as presented in this chapter. Of course Imu would blame Saturn for the disaster that was the Egghead Incident and remove him from power (by removing his life), and replacing him with Figarland Garling makes sense, because even if it's questionable that he's a scientist the way Saturn was, him being the head of the Holy Knights does mean he'd be good in terms of the World Government's defensive forces. This opens up a lot of questions, though; the other four elders seemed surprised that Garling was appointed the new Godhead of Science and Defense, did Imu summon Garling in private when he appointed him? Also, it seems clear that the Five Elders' immortality and demonic powers are tied to their connection to Imu, does this mean Garling is also immortal now? Will he inherit Saturn's powers too? Argh, there are just too many questions raised in this chapter, it's enticing stuff!
Also, I had a feeling Edison was still alive, and I love that he managed to screw over York and the World Government one final time by escaping with Punk Records. Seeing that Shaka, Pythagoras and Atlas are still technically alive within him is also sweet to see, even if Edison's new body looks really wonky. I have a feeling they'll be an important player in the final saga, perhaps even moreso than Lilith!
Lastly, maybe this is a minor point, but I can't help but worry about Doberman in this chapter. He's been nothing but loyal to the Marines and the World Government (maybe a bit too loyal in the case of the Paramount War, where he insisted on continuing to fight the pirates, even if it meant abandoning injured soldiers, and wanted to keep Ace and Whitebeards bodies so the Marines could present them to the world as a warning, but still), it'd suck if all this loyalty and dedication was "rewarded" with instant death just because he happened to ask the wrong question to Saturn... Then again, perhaps Saturn killing off Doberman was meant to be poetic on Oda's part? Like Saturn looks down on humans and see them as expendable and replaceable, only for him to be deemed expendable and replaced by Imu. A fitting end for such a villain, I'd say... Still sucks for Doberman, though.

That means that due to the fact they have been around for over 200 years , people in the one piece world knows that.
I am starting to get the feeling that it’s only a secret to us the readers , but not to the in world characters.

I am almost certain that the people of the world knows a lot of things about the ruling class that are not privy to us the readers.
I know this is colliding with the fact everyone was shocked to hear “Imu Narona” you’re still alive(I’m talking about the reaction of the revolutionary army)
But the elders are not secret characters , if they been there, they have been there for a long time.
I think it’s either a plot hole , or there is something that is hidden from us only (the readers )

@@307nishchay8 If we have to see Imu's irritation, he would look like someone very pissed of towards someone doing way too many mistakes:
1. Saturn told the Vice Admirals to not go after the Straw Hats (Imu wants the death of all Nika users). [Disobey]
2. He failed at stopping the transmission reveling parts of the Void Century (Imu rules with an Iron Fist by keeping people ignorant). [Incompetence]
3. Emeth had Joy Boy's Haki stored in a knot, which helped Straw Hats escape, if only they scrapped the robot, it wouldn't have bit him in the rear (Imu wouldn't allow such research being made, especially since this Iron Giant was a dangerous enemy that attacked Marie Geoise 200 years ago). [Disobey, Hubris & Incompetence]
4. He experimented on Ginny, which accidentally ended up providing a second Nika user in the name of Boney (Nika users seem to be the hard counter to Imu's powers, which proves that Imu had a very hard time against Joy Boy without the help of the 19 other kings). [Hubris]
I mean with all of those mistakes, we can't say he didn't disobey Imu, he did it at least twice. Saturn's hubris tested the very limits of Imu's patience at the cost of his life.
I don't get the issue with Vegapunk's alters not being truly dead. They were never truly alive to begin with- that's why the one whose task it was to tend to bodily needs betrayed them. Because she felt too "alive."
Regardless, Vegapunk has definitely suffered a kind of death, though more like a strange reverse-coma. His true body is dead, and was killed by his best friend no less. That means the "real" Vegapunk is truly dead and he can never be the man he once was ever again.
All that is left of him is a brain in a jar. Kinda like that one DLC quest from Fallout New Vegas. Is that really being alive?
The other Vegapunks are essentially puppets weilded by Vegapunk's oversized brain.
