I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know, and I know all the great ones.
Pink Floyd is a great band. David Gilmour is the guitarist and lead singer. Anything from the Pulse concert is worth reacting to, but if you like his guitar solos, check out the song 'Sorrow' from Pulse. I personally think it's even more intense than 'Comfortably Numb.' Dude, David Gilmour has an amazing talent for being able to translate emotion into the guitar. Pink Floyd’s albums Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here put it on display, definitely worth the listen if you enjoyed the live performance. He’s playing an American made Fender Stratocaster, since you want to play. The Americans are pricey, but there are plenty of more affordable models of the Stratocaster and would be a great first guitar.
THE best solo of all time. So many good songs by Pink Floyd. Find a copy of "Dark Side of the Moon", close the curtains, turn off the lights, lie down put on your headphones and listen to the whole album without a break. You won't regret it.
A Pink Floyd concert was not merely a concert it was an “experience.” I saw them twice once in ‘77 & once in ‘80. Way before this came out. BTW if you want to see a great guitarist watch Stevie Ray Vaughan “Texas Flood” live
He’s in the top ten for sure, but I think you’d struggle to find a list with him at 1. With that said, he is a master, and this solo is probably my favorite of all time.
I'm always happy to see when a new reaction video comes up on Comfortably Numb. As many others have said, you have just witnessed one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded preformed by one of the best, most emotional, guitarists to ever grace a stage. This particular concert was recorded on 20 October 1994, Earls Court, London. This version is widely regarded as one of the best versions of Comfortably Numb ever recorded. I won't go into the meaning behind the song but Comfortably Numb is essentially a duet with David Gilmour providing two of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded. As the ending solo begins, it starts off into a beautiful melody but as the solo continues, it develops into a gigantic crescendo of unbridled passion and emotion. David Gilmour is that special, once in a generation person, that is able to bring out true emotion from his playing. I read a quote from someone once that read "Legend has it, all guitars want David Gilmour for Christmas". Glad you enjoyed the video. If you ever have time, watch the entire concert. It is well worth your time if you get a chance. Be well my friend.
we cant see it, its vibrations and sound waves, all we know its called music, it can change lives. This is as good as it gets, lets be glad we live in the times where genius like this can be witnessed
I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION… I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
i could name dozens of songs you should watch. they´re the most influential and biggest band of all time, gilmour being one of the greatest guitarists of all time. here in 1994 they were already going for 30 years. their 1973 album DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is considered the most influential album of all time (alongside the beatles´ sgt pepper album). it is a concept album and the 4th highest selling album ever. you would do yourself (and all of us) a favor if you would do that album in one go (songs being connected, it´s almost a must).
"Lonely hearts club band" was greatly influenced by Pink Floyd. Both bands were recording at Abbey Road recording studio at the time. When the Beatles heard Floyd, it blew their minds. The Beatles didn't feel so great after hearing what Pink Floyd was turning out.
Imagine seeing this show live. I saw them 5 times on this tour, and they were so precise that it was note perfect every time. And back in '94, nobody had cell phones, so they actually paid attention to the concert. Also, saw them on the Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour, which was also amazing.
The Pulse concert is amazing. The 1994 light show technology probably surpasses what is available today in 2021 (27 years later). You get to see 3 members of Pink Floyd from the 1960’s putting on a spectacular live performance at around age 50.
I really loved this reaction! Just about to hit the subscribe button, and hoping to see you do more Pink Floyd. David Gilmour is the guitarist, btw. Check out his solo stuff too. He played a concert at Pompeii in 2016 at 70 years old and still is better than anyone else. Keep the classic rock reactions coming and stay safe Edwin!
Check out Pink Floyds 'Sorrow' from the same 1994 Pulse Concert. Also 'High Hopes', another spectacular performance. I've been a huge Pink Floyd fan since they released their 'Dark Side of the Moon album in 1973, I was 17. Pink Floyd is a British Rock band formed in London in 1965. They have been tremendously successful over the decades, selling over 450 million albums world wide. That would be 2nd place on the all-time albums sold list, second only to The Beatles.
You will never ever see a better live performance than the Pink Floyd 1994 Pulse concert if you live to 150!!! Check out the whole Pulse concert on You Tube😁😁🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Congratulations you've done something I can never do again, hear Comfortably Numb for the first time! Get it on a good quality big sound system and it's awesome. I've had the pleasure of hearing it live! By the way, Pink Floyd invented the light show.
That stage was modeled after The Hollywood Bowl. In the 1960s or 1970s, they had come over from England & performed there.....& liked the acoustics. So they had TWO of them built for this tour. While they were playing in one city....the other stage was already being set up in the next, I think they had a fleet of 117 big rigs carrying all of the lasers & sound equipment. Do yourself a favor & listen to that album 'The Wall' start to finish. It's like one big story.
Nice reaction, young man….welcome to my youth. I appreciate how respectful you are, you let the artists do their thing and your comments were minimal.. I respect your respect..
Another great solo you have to check out is Chicago playing “25 or 6 to 4” Live at Tanglewood 1970. Terry Kath absolutely kills it. When someone asked Hendrix what it was like to be the world’s greatest guitarist, Jimi said “I don’t know. Ask Terry Kath.” Take a listen to this and you’ll know why he said it.
Great reaction! Same concert, SORROW. As epic as you just saw. David Gilmours guitarwork is incredible. By far my favorite. Tons of great guitarwork in Pink Floyds catalog. For a really entertaining guitar performance, check out Prince when he played WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS with other legends. A fantastic performance if you havent seen it. He can really play. Be safe.
That guitar solo for me is just, well, you know when you hear a song, and no matter how many times you hear it, you just feel amazing hearing it? How it makes anything you are doing that much better? That is what that guitar solo is for me. Every time I hear it, it puts me in an awesome mood.
love hearing and seeing people feel the power of the guitar, its like nothing else, to me its the only instrument that can sing like people do, everyone feels it, beautiful
"They're so different." Yup, that's Pink Floyd. I've been listening to them since 1975, and they are my all time favourite band, so yeah, I'm biased. Of all the great groups I've listened to in my life, Pink Floyd is/was always a notch above any other band. I was at a show in the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, over 74,000 fans!!! Also, the version you watched here has over a minute of the guitar finale CUT OUT! This is because David Gilmore, the guitarist, played a coupld of 'dodgy notes', (I'm no expert, but I don't think they were dodgy.), so he had the video editted. But to make it seamless, they had to cut over a minute out of the video. To see the uncut version, just type in group, song, pulse tour UNCUT, and judge for yourself!!
I'm 74 years old and remember my daddy telling me, you can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Put time into learning the guitar. First the calluses on your fingers to your first chord, then onward.. I know you can do it. God Bless
This man is a translator....he passes his emotions thru his fingers that connect with his guitar that drives incredible levels of energy...I doubt it's measurable...
It make me proud my favorite band is appreciated by the next generation. And I am an original next generation Floyd fan, since I'm 47. "Dark Side" came out the year I was born, bro. My best concert experience ever was Pulse at Giants Stadium in 1994.
I was 16yrs old when i first saw Pink Floyd in Vancouver Canada 1974 and had no idea what they would become to be, it’s so satisfying watching reaction videos, thankyou? i wish i would have kept the 18 dollar ticket stub
This was the last song of their concert. You can also catch the encore, which is the song "Run." But if you want to watch the entire concert, you can catch it on UA-cam. I just spent a week in the hospital and, lucky for me, my roommate also liked Floyd, so we watched it together. Regarding how to approach Pink Floyd on disc, start with the "Dark Side of the Moon" album.
Great reaction. Thx for pausing! David Gilmour is the guitarist and is considered one of the top guitarists in the world. His guitar playing is about expressing emotion rather than just being technically fast. Pink Floyd no longer tours and is no longer a band as Roger waters left in 1983 and Richard Wright died 2008. Check out the song Time and then go to Hey you do the studio versions of these. Nicely young man. PF will take you on a journey into the sea of your mind, their music is timeless and mesmerizing
To see this live was something to behold. I saw it 3 nights in a row and had chills all 3 nights watching this. His solo on this is beyond outstanding it truly is out of this world. The notes seem to be playing to the stage effects then calling to the disco ball to open up but you can't not be affected by just the power of his playing.
I flew from Australia just to be at that concert, if you thought that solo was amazing, the solo at the concert was 3.5 minutes longer. you can find the uncut version on youtube. if i posted it to you it would get blocked. they have a song called "wish you were here" it is done with an acoustic guitar on the record, that was the song i taught myself to play a guitar with. i first got into Pink Floyd 1969. yes i am old. this version of Comfortably Numb takes me back to the concert every time i hear it
I am truly envious of you. This is the very first time you have listened to Pink Floyd - you have an entire back catalogue spanning decades to catch up on. Enjoy, it's all good.
If I can recommend an album from PF to you I would recommend watching the pulse dvd. You will essentially get the best concert you will ever see….and hear!!! Give it at shot and watch the thing. It’s long so I’m not sure it would work for a quick 10 minute UA-cam video but I guarantee you complete and utter amazement!! Enjoy and much love for not interrupting the music. Great job my friend 👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers for doing this song, I have heard it many times but I had not seen this live version, a friend that seen them live said it was on another level to the studio tracks. Now I know what he meant.
Great to see the youngster getting into the music of yester year, when music live sounded as good or better than the album versions :) ..plenty to go at, i also recommend checking out DireStraits - 'Sultans of Swing' and 'Telegraph Road' both live (Alchemy versions) imo as epic as this performance ...look out for the Drummer (Terry Williams) as well as the lead guitarist and singer Mark Knopfler. If you do Direstraits 'Brothers in Arms' do the official video (not live version) the video is a work of art in itself. Knopfler and Gilmour are my two favourite Guitarists. keep up the musical journey you won't be dissapointed.
It's really difficult to name other similar bands - they were pretty unique. If it's any consolation, they have a big back catalogue to enjoy. David Gilmore is generally regarded as one of the very best electric guitarists in the World, so don't beat yourself up learning to play, it's a long process - though you can have fun with just a few chords and arpeggios. Best wishes.
Pink Floyd is the greatest band in history. I've seen them live three times, LA Sports Arena, The Wall in 1980 and Pulse at the Rose Bowl 2004, both nights. Dark Side Of The Moon is a masterpiece, the album remained in the albums chart for 736 nonconsecutive weeks, it's sold 45 MILLION copies while still selling 10,000 a day.
I know the audio during the video wasn't the best, I had to use the audio from the camera because the video just overpowered my mic. If anyone has any advice on that let me know. I'd greatly appreciate it!

He’s in the top ten for sure, but I think you’d struggle to find a list with him at 1. With that said, he is a master, and this solo is probably my favorite of all time.
@@ugadawgs1990 Which is why I said “arguably”🧐
"I need to learn"
And you shall be great by it.
we cant see it, its vibrations and sound waves, all we know its called music, it can change lives. This is as good as it gets, lets be glad we live in the times where genius like this can be witnessed
That stage set is legendary, never seen anything like it.
The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION…
I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
- "Man, he's still goin'"
Me: "Hold on to your seat, witness greatness!"
Great video man ;-)
i could name dozens of songs you should watch. they´re the most influential and biggest band of all time, gilmour being one of the greatest guitarists of all time. here in 1994 they were already going for 30 years. their 1973 album DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is considered the most influential album of all time (alongside the beatles´ sgt pepper album). it is a concept album and the 4th highest selling album ever. you would do yourself (and all of us) a favor if you would do that album in one go (songs being connected, it´s almost a must).
"Lonely hearts club band" was greatly influenced by Pink Floyd. Both bands were recording at Abbey Road recording studio at the time. When the Beatles heard Floyd, it blew their minds. The Beatles didn't feel so great after hearing what Pink Floyd was turning out.
Now you have discovered The Pink Floyd, Listen to them and enjoy. Do a reaction to Great Gig in the sky next.
"Someone teach me"
I will do it. I teach guitar (basics) but I require one cheeseburger.
Say less
It aint getting better than this
Imagine seeing this show live. I saw them 5 times on this tour, and they were so precise that it was note perfect every time. And back in '94, nobody had cell phones, so they actually paid attention to the concert. Also, saw them on the Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour, which was also amazing.
Complete masterpiece!!
The Pulse concert is amazing. The 1994 light show technology probably surpasses what is available today in 2021 (27 years later). You get to see 3 members of Pink Floyd from the 1960’s putting on a spectacular live performance at around age 50.
This band blows every other band out of the water.
And the song "Run Like Hell" from that concert, too!
You will never ever see a better live performance than the Pink Floyd 1994 Pulse concert if you live to 150!!! Check out the whole Pulse concert on You Tube😁😁🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Hi Edwin
Dieser Song von Pink Floyd ist unbelievable und der Text ist einfach nur der Wahnsinn.
The German boy
Be safe.
I just love seeing the emotions on the faces of all these first time listeners. Such an amazing band and this is my favourite track.
That guitar solo for me is just, well, you know when you hear a song, and no matter how many times you hear it, you just feel amazing hearing it? How it makes anything you are doing that much better? That is what that guitar solo is for me. Every time I hear it, it puts me in an awesome mood.
There is "Music" and there is "Pink Floyd". They brings you somewhere out of your mind!
love hearing and seeing people feel the power of the guitar, its like nothing else, to me its the only instrument that can sing like people do, everyone feels it, beautiful
Now it's in your head. Now you'll be hearing it forever, and that's a good thing.
It does my old heart good to see young people enjoying the music of my generation. Welcome aboard.
This is the best performance of one of the greatest songs ever written. Stunning
I discovered this song in 2014 ,, still loving it !! Would be still in the future !
I'm 74 years old and remember my daddy telling me, you can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Put time into learning the guitar. First the calluses on your fingers to your first chord, then onward.. I know you can do it. God Bless
Thanks for listening and not pausing it every 20 secs like others do. Welcome to the world of pink floyd,,,enjoy
I was lucky enough to be in the crowd!!! Just beyond amazing... right under the ball!! 😄
You get a like simply for being so respectful of the band and the music. Well done.
This man is a translator....he passes his emotions thru his fingers that connect with his guitar that drives incredible levels of energy...I doubt it's measurable...
Thank you for not pausing. You just heard one of the greatest guitar solos of all time, over one of the greatest songs ever written. Subscribed!
Unfortunately you can’t teach that. That’s literally an angel playing it
One of the best live performances of guitar solo ever. 😀
Bro, Pink Floyd has been around since 1965.
It make me proud my favorite band is appreciated by the next generation. And I am an original next generation Floyd fan, since I'm 47. "Dark Side" came out the year I was born, bro. My best concert experience ever was Pulse at Giants Stadium in 1994.
Wow, this band is indeed timeless
I was 16yrs old when i first saw Pink Floyd in Vancouver Canada 1974 and had no idea what they would become to be, it’s so satisfying watching reaction videos, thankyou? i wish i would have kept the 18 dollar ticket stub
Hahaha “this is so long” Dave Gilmore “hold my beer”
This was the last song of their concert. You can also catch the encore, which is the song "Run." But if you want to watch the entire concert, you can catch it on UA-cam. I just spent a week in the hospital and, lucky for me, my roommate also liked Floyd, so we watched it together.
Regarding how to approach Pink Floyd on disc, start with the "Dark Side of the Moon" album.
Legend has it he's still wandering the streets of London, playing that solo....
Welcome to the "club" Edwin. Hope you keep listening to their music. God bless and keep you .
I flew from Australia just to be at that concert, if you thought that solo was amazing, the solo at the concert was 3.5 minutes longer. you can find the uncut version on youtube. if i posted it to you it would get blocked. they have a song called "wish you were here" it is done with an acoustic guitar on the record, that was the song i taught myself to play a guitar with. i first got into Pink Floyd 1969. yes i am old. this version of Comfortably Numb takes me back to the concert every time i hear it
I had the pleasure of seeing that tour. Was amazing!
You have to listen to the soundtrack of the film MORE released in 1969, played by PINK FLOYD.
After seeing/hearing this, you now have an understanding of the gap between greatness and what passes as "music" these days. Peace.
Yes that guy is amazing . That is David Gilmour, a guitar genius, playing the greatest solo of all time.
Welcome from reality Edwin.
Cheers for doing this song, I have heard it many times but I had not seen this live version, a friend that seen them live said it was on another level to the studio tracks. Now I know what he meant.
They've been doing huge shows like this for many decades
I wonder how many people have heard Dave Gilmore and said, " I need to learn guitar "
Good reaction
Your reaction is exactly what it should be. You have just listened to greatness.
I used to watch Dire Straits in a tiny pub called The Bricklayers Arms in Greenwich. Those were the days.
Marooned by Pink Floyd is amazing
It's really difficult to name other similar bands - they were pretty unique. If it's any consolation, they have a big back catalogue to enjoy. David Gilmore is generally regarded as one of the very best electric guitarists in the World, so don't beat yourself up learning to play, it's a long process - though you can have fun with just a few chords and arpeggios. Best wishes.
Music for the Soul
Pink Floyd is the greatest band in history. I've seen them live three times, LA Sports Arena, The Wall in 1980 and Pulse at the Rose Bowl 2004, both nights. Dark Side Of The Moon is a masterpiece, the album remained in the albums chart for 736 nonconsecutive weeks, it's sold 45 MILLION copies while still selling 10,000 a day.
